The experience wasn't bad...but the food was bad, literally. A few hours after we got home from dinner, my husband came down with the worst food poisoning ever. I couldn't believe how sick he was...for 3 days he was vomiting with diarrhea. I've never seen him so sick. He had some sort of steak dish and my son and I had chicken. He was the only one who got sick. We went through everything he ate the 48 hours before he was sick and there was absolutely nothing else in his diet that would warrant this kind of food poisoning. Food is good and quick. The service is subpar. I have a family of five and we received our food in about 20 minutes. We arrived at about 1040AM and we were the first customers at the restaurant. By the time we left there were two other customers eating as well. Seating is nice, not to crowded and there are tables outside to eat (unfortunately we were never offered this opportunity.) So, when we ordered my youngest son received chicken nuggets instead of a cheese burger (the waitress did fix this) Also, the waitress told my eldest son the wings were not spicy. When we got them they were covered in buffalo sauce (obviously spicy.) Also not one time did the waitress check on us to make sure we were okay. Never received any refills or offered any which is a bummer because I sure could have used another tea. It was just sad because this restaurant was not busy at all. Real Deal Mexican food! Tacos Al Carbon were unbeatable. They do something to the guac that puts it over the top, not sure just what though. Service was adequate and the joint was very clean. If I'm ever back through here, I'll be returning to El Comalon! read more

That plate was not used. So, maybe it's just me but, my wife and I have a set of normal parameters that 'Mexican' food in an Americanized restaurant should taste like. Salsa should have some heat and have a taste of cilantro, garlic, tomato, onion, and so on. Chicken from fajitas might have a touch of heat with hints of cumin and peppers or something. Well, the salsa here had an unidentifiable flavor. I have genuinely never tasted anything like it. The chicken had a very sweet taste. Almost as if it was picked up next door at the Mongolian place and was actually some sort of orange chicken. The cheese dip was equally strange. If you are like us and really enjoy the standard Americanized version of Mexican food, stay away. If you are looking for something VERY different with your Mexican food, give it a shot. read more

Tasted like they pulled a skunk out of an airway heights dumpster, and cooked it in chilli sauce. Taco salad looked like someone took a shit inside a 10 week old taco bowl. We will be lucky if we are not all dead in the morning from whatever bacteria was growing in that cesspool. Overpriced, under atmosphered, and definitely the worst Mexican resturant I've been to. Drove all day and wanted some Mexican food near our hotel. Found this restaurant and decided to give it a shot. Was seated quickly but it was forever before someone came and took our drink order. Drinks came and we're really good. Highly suggest the Margarita on the rocks... Food came in a timely manner and was pretty authentic and tasty. The issue I have was our service, it was something to be desired. Took a long time to take our initial order and after our food was finished we sat there for 20 minutes waiting for someone to take our plates. I am really disappointed. Our food has a human hair and before the waitress place the plate on the table I saw it and mentioned it. She took the plate back but we didn't wanted to eat there anymore. Probably the worst service/food I've had in a long time. Me and my wife ordered an appetizer and two dishes. We received the appetizer and it looked/tasted like frozen food reheated, extremely soggy and bland. We waited over an hour and was told that they forgot our main dishes and gave us an option to either wait another 20 min or just pay for the appetizer and leave, didn't even bother apologizing for what happened. The first time we ate here we were sorely disappointed. We decided to give it another chance a few months later. Same results. The service is slow and uneven. The food overall is bland. The burritos and enchiladas are soggy and the refried beans are runny. The cheese they use is obviously highly processed and nearly tasteless. The salsa is weak. We will never go back. Las Presa 2 or Tres Fiestas, both just a couple miles further down the road, are much much better Mexican restaurants. read more

The staff was very friendly and nice, the food was good but nothing unique or special about it as opposed to another mexican resteraunt. the chips were stale and not fresh and the salsa was actually salsa and no added ketchup to it so that was good. I could tell just by tasting the salsa that they simmer it in hot oil for a while in order to bring out the deep flavors of the chilies and gives it that dark red color. for 13.50 you would expect to get enough food on your plate but when i ordered the camarones a la diabla there was barely any shrimp, only about three mushrooms, and hardly any rice or beans. I asked for it to be very spicy but it didnt come that way. now for 4.50 my daughter got one chicken enchilada and a lot of rice and beans on her plate so she ate well. the michelada i ordered was delicious but hardly any alcohol in it. We are from San Diego CA and just moved to the area and have been looking for good Mexican Food and have tried several places. We have given up and friends said it will never happen.. Tonight we thought one more try and let's try El Comaion and we were glad we did. It was good, flavorful , and tasty . We had the Shredded beef burrito, enchiladas , chicken tacos, and chile reanao .. All good stuff.. We will go back soon and will be our regular place for Mexican food . After an ok dinner, I headed to the restroom and noticed that a 3-4 year old was putting tortilla chips chips in a basket held by a waitress using his bare hands. He'd previously been running around he restaurant with colored straws in his mouth and hands and making lots of noise. I can not believe how disappointed I was with this food. We ordered take out, and they clearly don't know how to package things so they don't turn into a gloppy mess before reaching home three minutes away. My friend made a reservation for 9 ppl and she came to the restaurant first. Despite calling ahead, we had to wait for a few mins to sit down. Then when we sat down, we waited for 5-7 mins before receiving any menus or drinks (water). In fact, one of my friends ordered a smoothie and they never gave her water. Thankfully she got our orders right but it took some time to place our order. I ordered the bean and cheese burrito with pinto beans. The pinto beans were completely plain. Went on Tuesday where the kids eat for $2.50 which is my friend and I were happy about because the kids chicken nuggets tasted pretty yucky...they were deep fried and they tasted really frozen. The decor was a nice sight, but, that is pretty much the only good thing I found there. When we received the chips and salsa, the chips were lukewarm, and the salsa tasted like a few seasonings were added to ketchup. I ordered the queso enchiladas, and they were okay. They were lukewarm as well. My mother had the beef fajitas and she said she was not impressed at all. She said, "there were so many vegetables, it was overwhelming, and there was hardly any meat." And finally, dessert. We thought it couldn't get any worse, but we were wrong. We ordered the flan. Flan is supposed to be smooth and creamy. Well, we'll just say it turned out more like bread pudding. It was chunky and unappetizing, so we didn't even finish it. I would not return here ever again, and I don't recommend it to others. Horrible service by the waitress. Didn't bring more chips until we were half way done with our meal and then had a crap attitude when wanted her to take back the guacamole and take it off the bill.
