Had no idea Gallo Giro had opened up at this location, i saw it when I drove by and I decided to turn around for an agua fresca, I got an agua de sandia which was delicious. I also ended up ordering a torta and it was so so. The bread was good and I like that it comes w chile jalapeño, panela, avocado, lettuce and tomato but not a fan of chewy pieces of meat. I would probably try it again but without meat, just beans. The place is nice and clean and everyone was friendly. I hope it stays this way and they do really well. I ordered 3 tamales, 1 chicken (comes in chile verde), 1 red pork and 1 cheese with rajas (chile jalapeño or Serrano, unsure) but they were very good. I also ordered a champurrado and that was very delicious! My partner ordered a torta cubana, I didn't get to taste but he did say it was very good too. My 3 year old got 2 tacos of asada and he enjoyed them very much too. I'm giving 4 stars because their Mexican bread to us wasn't very tasty, but it's decent. The service was okay, could be better. Located in a central area of Van Nuys. Easy to walk to and also has plenty of parking. Very clean inside and super friendly staff. When we got there the bread was fresh and hot out of the oven. We also got two tortas without meat since we are vegetarians. They tasted great and were made quickly. The fresh bread is what I initially went for and it did not disappoint. It's very similar to the bread in my country and when it's hot it's even better. Came home right away and put some cheese and mayo for a perfect combo. So happy this opened so close to us. Inside has tons of seating and it's very bright and gives a happy vibe. It was not crowded either and we went around 4pm. read more

Horrible customer service by Lesley. Carries herself as if she's being forced to work there. An older man asked her for help with the fountain drinks and she didn't even bother going over there, she just yelled something to him from afar. Mind you there is no line and she is just pacing back and forth so it seems she has nothing to do. Poor man asked me for help instead. This is my second time trying gallo giro. I tried the one in panorama city but torta was not good. However there was another worker who had wonderful customer service but she had no name tag so I can't give honor where it's due. Rn got ham and egg burrito, and it's pretty good and big size, great price $7. I will be back for this burrito. Looks clean and love the music.
