chicken flautas covered in cotija, lettuce and sour cream with rice and beans

El Jefe is an excellent restaurant with great food, wonderful service, and good vibes. The flavor for your $$$ is a very high rate here. They have one of the most abundant and delicious salsa bars I have seen in Portland. The quesabirra was delicious with the consomé and elevated by the salsas. The flautas were great too (you can see them roasting/grilling chicken out back). Food comes out quickly! If you are hungry and do not want to break your bank, come to El Jefe Grill on Pac Highway- you are in for a real treat! There is patio seating, indoor seating, and a parking lot.

I've always had consistently good food here at a great price, and today was no exception. The customer service was especially wonderful this time around -- they even gave me a free large cup of champurrado, which was absolutely perfect on such a cold day. I also noticed they recently expanded their outdoor seating by adding a covered area with heat lamps and clear plastic panels to block out the cold wind. The panels can be removed in the summer, which is such a smart and thoughtful upgrade. Great food, great value, and genuinely kind service -- what an excellent improvement overall. I'll definitely keep coming back.

El Jefe in Tigard is an excellent option when you're looking for quick, satisfying food at a great price. It's very much a takeout-style spot, so the focus is on efficiency and the food rather than atmosphere. I ordered the 3 Taco Combo Plate, and the tacos were fantastic. I wasn't expecting much from the mac and cheese, but it ended up being a pleasant surprise and paired well with the meal. I forgot to add a chicken taco this time, but after smelling it while I was there--and knowing it's their specialty--it's at the top of my list for the next visit. At $10 for a three-taco combo with sides, the value is hard to beat, and it's more than enough food to leave you satisfied. Since I ordered takeout, service was minimal but smooth and efficient. There's a small parking lot, which makes pickup easy. Overall, El Jefe is a great spot for a quick, affordable meal with really solid tacos, and it's definitely a place I'll be coming back to.

Having nothing but good things to say about them! First, their food is just as good as the original food truck on Allen Blvd, especially their grilled chicken with their salsa! This brick and mortar location has a salsa bar with a huge variety of options to choose from! They also have an extended covered area to the side of the restaurant to dine in! I ordered last minute for a small party and they had no problem putting my order together! Very nice staff! I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a good quality Mexican food spot!

Pretty good tacos. Fast service too. Got 4 pork el pastor tacos this time and 4 chicken tacos. I wish I would have gotten the pork carnitas in stead of the el pastor. The pork carnitas were way beer and more meat. I did like how they put the pineapple on the el pastor tacos. The rice and beans are pretty good. The place is always clean too. If you want some good Mexican food this is a good place to go. Give it a try. I got 8 tacos, rice and beans for $30.00.

We were randomly in the area on a Saturday afternoon so tried out El Jefe Mexican Grill. Their original location is in Beaverton. Order at the counter, salsa bar is help yourself. - Jamaica ($4.12 USD for 24oz) - refreshing, good hibiscus flavour - 2 piece pollo ranchero ($11.34 USD) - Spanish rice and guacamole & chips. Chicken was a mixed bag; dry, not much flavour - Tacos street style ($2.75 USD) - lengua ($3.25 USD), asada, carnitas, chorizo, al pastor and birria. Good portions of meat. Favourites were the lengua and birria. Asada a touch overcooked

I speak very highly of El Jefe ., a west side gem that never gets talked about but the ones who know IYKYK the grilled chicken plate is to die for great quality and quantity for 13 bucks but even there 3 taco plate as mentioned in other reviews I can get 2 grilled cheesy chicken tacos and a quesobirrilla taco for 11 bucks or 10 cash price ., also they have a fat selection of freshly made frescas I always go for the melon one ., they all hit tho .; 32 oz sip for 5.50 ( worth the squeeze my folks ) . Drive by but stop sleeping on these guys they is something to talk about

This maybe my new fave for Mexican food on the west side. The place is not large but has ample seating in the extended covered patio area. The service is fast and friendly and delivers dishes better than any of the more well known names. The pricing is fair for the quality of food you get. I will definitely be back.

So far we've loved the food every time going. We used to drive to Gresham for good Mexican food but the quality is no longer worth the drive, so we've been looking in the area and I think we found it. The little salsa, carrot, pico bar is very tasty and free with dine in - along with free coffee! The prices for modern 2025 aren't bad, and the portions, quality is great! My boyfriend (who was born and raised in San Diego so he's picky about his Mexican food) and I can easily share a breakfast burrito and a quesabirria and be very full! So far we've eaten the birria tacos (to go style), the bacon breakfast burrito, and the quesabirria taco. We are looking forward to trying more of their menu.

Kinda tricky to find the driveway for this Mexican place off 99, but you'll be glad you did. It's a pretty small setup inside --- the kitchen takes up most of the space but that's not a bad thing. There are tables outside too, and an entire covered/ enclosed/heated patio just outside the main door. Now for the food -- 10/10 all around for our basic but super tasty taco plates. They come with two tacos and your choice of two sides in very generous portions; I got the Pollo Asado plate since they're known for their chicken. The tacos weren't huge but came stuffed with lots of perfectly marinated meat, and my side of whole beans was just massive. All this for under $10. Even better is their salsa bar, where you can rummage through like a dozen kinds of sauces and condiments, and really jack up the flavor on your meal. The counter service is efficient and friendly, and the food is all fresh and made to order. I'll be back.

Top tier Mexican food. Fresh grilled chicken daily. Not much more to say. The avocado and habanero salsas are solid.

My parents and I all had different dishes, and we all agreed that the food was authentic, fresh, and very flavorful. I had the super burrito, and I loved the chicken and cabbage. I didn't even ask for hot sauce, and they gave me all of my favorite hot sauces. The habanero was like a volcano that kept burning, which I loved. I got the food to go, so I did not sit down and eat, so I cannot attest to the server's service. The woman at the counter was polite and very quick, and whoever took my order over the phone was equally quick. The ambiance is cool. It reminds me of an old-school diner. It looks like it has ample seating inside. There are a lot of parking spots outside. It's right on the main drag. I think Sanchez Taqueria has replaced the Taqueria I normally dine at.

Their breakfast burritos are tasty, simple, and while sometimes inconsistent, are still a nice warm meal first thing on a Saturday. However, in the last few months, every time I enter, there's a Sonos speaker that is playing music ON BLAST. It's been in a few different locations; over the condiment bar, or behind the register near the kitchen, and at such a volume that I could barely hear the employee at the register, and I had to raise my voice to be heard by them. Additionally, the employee that normally works the register does the bare minimum you would expect for someone taking your order at a register. This is both a good thing and a bad thing. I get my order out in in a timely manner, but I get the sense that, while this is a family-run restaurant, they're not necessarily including their patrons as part of that family. I think their main challenge is their drive thru. They seem to have one person working the register, drive thru, and handling incoming phone orders the majority of the times I've come in. I'll never skip out on this place, but I avoid dining in anymore. You don't come for the vibes or service, really just a quick and tasty meal.
