Bait & Switch! I actually didn't realize this kind of thing still happened. They had a travel trailer listed online as "on sale" for a good discount but the sale price was still within a normal asking price for that year and model so I called to confirm it was available before heading out. We drove 2.5 hours to take a look. A gentleman named Norville, listed as the Sales Manager on their website, showed us the trailer. Before checking anything out I confirmed the listed price online with him and he said "oh yeah, we don't like to babysit these units so we price them to move fast". We spent 45 minutes or so checking everything out on the trailer and decided to buy it. When we're signing the paperwork, I declined their $5000 "service plan" (over 20% of the cost of the trailer) and offered $1k less than their asking price on the trailer, which I thought was reasonable offer. We finished up the initial paperwork and he left to ask the Sales Manager (or is it the Sales Manager Manager?) about the offer, only to return with "bad news folks, we made a mistake on the price online actually, the price is $7000 MORE than what we listed it for online.. sorry about that." Now, mistakes happen, I get that, but they made zero effort to correct this mistake and instead just demanded the full amount. The unnamed Sales Manager Manager didn't even come out to apologize for this so-called mistake. Maybe they thought since we'd invested our whole day into it already and were set on buying it, they thought we'd still go for it. Maybe they pull this stunt on folks who decline insanely priced services plans. Who knows If this were truly a mistake they should have attempted to make it right. I would have even come up from their listed asking price a bit if they acted in good faith. A company of this size should have owned this mistake and made it right, even if it meant they didn't make a bunch of profit off of us. That was their mistake to correct, not ours. We will never shop another El Monte RV location again and will actively warn everyone we know to steer clear of this shady operation. I'll also be filing a complaint with the CA DMV and CA DOJ regarding false advertising practices. read more

We recently rented a mighty c class medium rv and had an ok experience. We started off well with the inspection and welcoming service. The rv was clean. Now here is where things went side way. When we arrived at our camping location the refrigerator went out. We called the number on the key and the technician that we spoke to told us that we needed to restart the refrigerator and that it would take 24hours to restart, mind you we had all our food in it. Due to it breaking down we had to rush to the local store and buy a cooler with ice and some of the items that had gone bad due to not being cold. Second, the hose that connect to the water line was old and leaking. We addressed this with the front desk and they refunded us for the spoiled food but it made things much more difficult with small children when their snacks and food goes bad. Unfortunately the store didn't have all the items that went bad. I due fear that the same thing may happen again the next time we decide to rent an rv. Just a heads up. Make sure everything is working before you leave. read more

Called ahead to confirm the trailer we wanted to buy was the correct price and indeed in stock, drove two hours to check it out, when we arrived we confirmed with the salesperson the online sales price was correct, spent over an hour with him and were about to hand over the deposit, only to be told that the online sale price was incorrect and it was $7000 more than we were quoted. We are so disappointed to have wasted our day, gas, and energy to just be baited and switched like that. So unacceptable and unprofessional. El Monte provides decent RVs at a more affordable price than similar RVs with big brands like Cruise America. We appreciated the large size of the RV we rented, but the check-out process was rushed and it didn't leave a lot of time for questions about the RV itself. But we liked that there was a 1-800 number we could contact for any problems. The main complaints we had were about condition of the RV itself -- while it was nicely swept and fairly clean on the surface, we discovered when we spilled some water on the floor that the floors were filthy. The paper towel came up almost black, indicating that the RV hadn't been mopped in some time. We also found a charger under the mattress, so clearly the staff did not fully clean the RV. We also didn't like the fact that the TV had been removed from the RV bedroom, and there was no coffee maker (although they did provide a kettle). Overall, the experience at El Monte was decent but could be better. One saving grace was Amy at check-in -- she was professional, friendly, efficient -- couldn't have asked for better service! :) read more

We rented a 26-ft Class C RV from El Monte RV in Dublin for a 4-day trip to celebrate my husband's birthday -- our first RV adventure -- and had a great experience. The Dublin staff were patient and helpful, especially Milan, who clearly explained everything and made us feel confident before we hit the road. We had a minor issue with the door lock during the camping trip, but roadside assistance responded quickly and resolved it through insurance. UPDATE: I received an email back from the sales/wholesale Director JJ La Rochelle, after my complaint about the nearly 3 weeks it took to get my refund back: "Company policy was followed regarding your request to cancell your purchase. The state of California does have a NO COOLING OF PERIOD unless you choose to purchase that option. As a courtest to you your refund request was completed." Which means the salesman directly lied to me when he told me my deposit would be refunded. So BE AWARE you may not get your deposit back despite what the salesman might tell you ORIGINAL COMPLAINT: On February 15 I put a deposit down on an RV to purchase, Which I was told was refundable should I change my mind. Very next day on February 16 I did let them know that I would want my deposit back. However, after two weeks And a few emails, no refund! It was only after I told them I was going to come in to the office and demand my refund in person that I finally received a return email indicating they would refund me. I finally received my refund on March 4, nearly 3 weeks after I originally Requested it. read more

We had to rent an RV to live in while our home was being repaired due to a Water Heater leak. We contacted El Monte RV and I spoke with Amir. He was very caring and willing to help us. We rented the RV for a total of six weeks. We had elected to do this instead of staying in a hotel to be close to our home and our animals. While our house was under construction. The RV was very nice very roomy all up-to-date with appliances and decor. It worked out very well for us. We will never be renting from this horrible company again. We are RVers and have rented from El Monte RV many times. We are accustomed to the handles falling off the slides stop working we've worked through mechanical error in the middle of the desert. we rent the largest and most expensive. Now El Monte's largest class A the coachman Pursuit is a piece of shit. No blinds on front door zero privacy layout is horrible the bed are not electric the rig rattles so loud we had to cut our driving time down. only after making the reservation did we find out the huge downgrade from the Ace motorhome. They no longer have the nice motorhomes they use to offer. Same price though, a little more actually. This place sucks always has really but there aren't many options for RV rentals. I'm done with these people. we will never use El Monte again. read more

They were great about helping us get an RV but big learning, if there is a problem with the RV then you're screwed. Fridge didn't work, drawers would fly open while driving, exterior storage doors wouldn't always properly secure. One door got damaged due to opening while on the road. The worst was having a flat tire. They were unable to find us service to get it fixed and we wasted a whole day waiting only for them to finally tell us to get it repaired ourselves. Zero responsibility for the condition on the RV. Buyer beware. read more

We had rented an El Monte Rv in Dublin Ca for our Vegas trip last year and had a great time. So much we decided to do it again this year... it was not great. First impressions of the RV. We paid just as much money as last year but less amenities in the RV like a sound system. Once we made it to Las Vegas, we realized that the compartment under the RV couldn't even handle the weight of our cases of water and had broken. You could literally see the case of water hanging out the bottom of the RV. Smaller items would've fallen through while driving. Our major issue is that once we parked at our campsite, the awning randomly opened and extended out. If someone had been walking by, it most certainly would've seriously injured them, if not killed them. It appeared someone had broken it and duck taped it back to try and hid the damage. It could've been the people before us but it's clear that El Monte did not actually inspect the RV before giving it to us. We had to run around camp asking our neighbors for rope and zip ties so that it could stay up while at camp. With that being said, we were unable to use it which is part of the camping experience. Upon leaving, we called the "road side service" that comes with the RV. IT IS NOT road side service. She told us to send an email with a picture of the damage and they would get back to us. They never did. We expressed how it is unsafe to drive the vehicle because if this thing falls off of on the freeway, it could be dangerous. That's when she told us to break the whole awing off and that "this sort of thing happens all the time". That didn't sound right so we were forced to drive 9 hours praying that our ropes held the awning up. Lastly, there was blood on the mattress in the back room. The icing on the cake is that they gave us back just $200 and said to give them a review about our experience so I hope they like it. We'll definitely be shopping somewhere else for our next trip. read more

My husband and I recently rented an RV from El Monte (11/2025). When we were on the trip we had to contact road care multiple times due to the carbon monoxide alarm going off when we pumped gas and ran the generator. Luckily, we did not use the gas stove since that could have led to us blowing up. When I did reach out to road care and asked if we could switch the RV out I was told that it was not available but that they could schedule a service appointment which would be a few days out. Since we were driving cross country, it was hard to commit to a service appointment given the variable factors of weather, etc. We did go to a truck stop mechanic as soon as possible and got it evaluated. They found that the insulation was missing under the RV which could have been the reason why fumes were coming into the cabin. When we could we used aluminum tape which was recommended by road care which didn't completely solve the problem but the carbon monoxide alarm went off less frequently. As a result of the fumes, my husband's asthma has gotten worse, I am frequently dizzy and my daughter's reaction has yet to be determined. When we dropped the RV back off at El Monte San Francisco we were told we would be contacted by corporate to resolve this situation and discuss some sort of compensation for this life threatening situation that should not have happened. They offered us $200 for the "minor inconvenience". read more

The equipment is always clean and in excellent condition. We have rented from elsewhere over the years but will definitely continue coming back here. We had the pleasure to rent an RV from El Monte a couple weeks ago. From start to finish, their customer service was top notch. It started online and we put our deposit down. Our group had a few questions and they were incredibly helpful on the phone with information. When we arrived, there was an informational video about the general overview on how to use the RV functions if you aren't familiar. Then they call you up once they have your RV ready. There is this delivery manager. HOT TIP: When this delivery person is explaining the RV you have to you during the walk through, I suggest you record it on your phone so that you can go back to it when you need it. This person was so informative and helpful as well. We referred back to that video a few times. Anmar and Betti were two of the most efficient staff members we have had the pleasure to encounter at El Monte. We are not new to the RV world but even if I was a newbie, they are so thorough and friendly and really made us feel welcomed and valued. The RV itself was in great shape. We got the Class "A" motor home and it was immaculate. Very well maintained and serviced. They offer things to add on to your rental in needed (lawn chairs, kitchen kits, comfort kits-pillows and blankets), Toasters, coffee makers, bike racks, etc. (all for an additional fee). The RV was spacious and super clean as well. Upon returning it, the porters were super helpful as well. Check out was a breeze and just like that, vacation was over. In regard to pricing, I found it to be much cheaper than using RV share or any other platform. We plan to use El Monte from here on out for all our RV rental and perhaps purchasing needs. Bought an RV from them on 3/28/2024, paid in full with cashiers check. They said tags, title, and extra keys would be mailed to be in a few weeks. One month later, end of April, nothing. Called and they sales lady does not work there anymore. Called multiple numbers with no help, just waiting on line or answering machine. No call back. Finally reached their DMV person a few days later and she said it was in process and could be ready later in the week when she goes to DMV. Two months later, start of June, nothing. This time I called for hours and nothing. DMV later no longer responds by email or voice or message. No callbacks. Called multiple people, no help at all. Had to leave on vacation so I left it there. Three (3) months later, still nothing. My temporary tags expires on 6/25 so I urgently call again, nothing. I decided to go to my DMV, lined up at 7:15 am, got in at 8am, talked to a clerk at 8:30am. Turns out they only filed the paperwork on 6/5/2024 (after I called the second time, after over 2 months they didn't report sale to DMV). Now, the paperwork is stuck because they owe money on the paperwork (remember, I paid for tax+licensing up front already). Finally, I filed a case with DMV, and then promptly went back to their dealership, on my work day, taking time off, and sat on their couch until they got someone that can help. I told them that they need to go back to DMV, pay the fees, and sent me my title, keys, and tags. All of a sudden the DMV lady started replying to my email. Turns out DMV made contact with them. Now I was actually getting a full paragraph response from their DMV person and they fedex'd my tags+keys. In summary, I finally got my tags and keys on 6/28/2024, after 3 months and after the temp tags had expired, simply because they dropped the ball. There is no after sales support what so ever. From the moment of pickup, they were welcoming, very well at educating us about all the buttons, valves, storage places, dumping, cleaning and the list goes on. While we were camping we ran into a few hiccups but don't worry because El Monte has a customer service line where you can call and someone was always available to help. The RV was clean, had all the amenities and bells and whistles you would need. We had an 8 person one and it was more than sufficient amount of space. We had a stove, fridge, freezer and so much storage space inside as well as out. We will definitely be using them again for our next camping trip. Rented an RV for 9 days and picked the largest Class C Family! It was just hubby + me plus a 4 year old and 7 month old. Was so excited to be on the road. As soon as we got it home the night before our trip I wanted to cancel. There was a sticker on the side saying it was cleaned by Sonia and she clearly doesn't know how to clean. There was grime and filth everywhere. Poop on the front of the toilet. Everything was filthy floors were sticky and one Lysol wipe on the seats were black! Plus when we pulled out the sofa couch there was food and bottles like she swept everything under. The freezer smelled horrid! The radio didn't work! I paid over $4k for this crappy van that was NOT in great condition!! Totally duped and so crappy. Don't rent from them. My husband tried to explain to the service team and they didn't care. We prepaid 2k miles and still went slightly over and they charge 3xs for overage. Rip off!! Never use them guys! Find another place!! read more

Buyer (or renter) beware!! Nothing was straightforward in my entire experience with them. A complete bait and switch. They would say one thing, then do another. They tried to talk me out of ordering the inspection from the very beginning. They were so friendly and accomodating until I called them out on their deception. There are slide defects (cracks in the fiberglass) on their Forest River units that they are aware of but don't disclose. I lost $700 on an inspection that I wouldn't have ordered if they would have disclosed the material facts ahead of time. They also offered to fix the repair incorrectly, described in a way that Forest River told me was simply a "patch" not a proper repair. read more
