The shrimp was dry and chalky in consistency the scallops which were only 4 and tasted and smelled like chlorine or bleach. A very chemically after taste was evident. Went with my mom and daughter on a Saturday night and was greeted promptly at the door before walking us over to our table. It was an adorable little Mexican spot. Chips, salsa and white sauce was included in the meal. While the chips were stale the salsa was great. The white sauce was a little too sweet and thick. The queso was delicious but served with the same stale chips. The margarita was massive and excellent priced for the marg. With that being said it tasted off, like a dirty water kind of off tasting. The place is beautiful. The waitress was very nice and knew the menu, but the food is just not Mexican. How? Everything was bland. Nothing has salt, pepper or any seasoning at all. No flavor. The steak, which I asked for medium rare, was burnt to a dry crisp. The queso fundido was more, oil water texture than a dip. This restaurant has a potential to be much more. El Paso was my favorite Mexican restaurant for several years but at some point I noticed that the food just wasn't as good as it was when I first started going there. So, I started experimenting with all the other Mexican restaurants around and discovered Casa Grande in Midlothian. That became my go-to Mexican restaurant because they had a huge menu and the food was consistently good. They have switched owners and are now Los Panchos - haven't tried that yet (what is a Pancho?). During the pandemic we switched to take out food only and I decided to try El Paso again. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was great and the staff were all great to deal with. I have been enjoying the pork tamales and the San Juan Burrito very much. I can readily recommend them if you live nearby or are looking for a good Mexican restaurant. Just writing about it makes me want to have one of those San Juan burritos! They are spicy and may raise a sweat but they are delicious. El Paso has remodeled since we use to go there and it looks great! read more

I've dined at El Paso on numerous occasions over the last 8 years and counting. I have never had a bad meal or experience here. The atmosphere is welcoming and warm. Service is always friendly and attentive. The food always comes out piping hot. The decor is so colorful and fun! The menu has a large variety of selections as well as their lunch combos for a really great price. The entrees are always a generous portion and for myself, it usually is enough for leftovers. I have also never had issues with substitutions. Their flavored frozen margaritas are awesome! It's not like you're only drinking flavored syrup compared to other places I've been to. I'm also a big fan of their shrimp chimichanga and arroz con pollo. Overall this place is kid friendly, inexpensive and delicious. El Paso is great option for a quick bite. read more

Aside from the incredible decor, El Paso has a tremendous selection of all your Tex-Mex favorites, along with some new ones you probably haven't tried. I had the "Fajita Tropicales," because if there's anything I love more than fresh pineapple, it's hot, grilled peppers and onions. The prices are fair and the waitstaff are incredibly polite, and helpful in suggesting menu items they think you would enjoy based on your taste preferences. This was my favorite go-to Mexican restaurant when the bf & I lived out in Midlothian. We were in the area yesterday and stopped by again. Food is still just as good as I remember! Complimentary chips, salsa, and white sauce are always tasty, and food always comes out super quick. My favorite is the Pollo Asado with extra onions, but I also enjoy the Tacos de Cameron. Food is super affordable, portions are huge, and there's a huge variety to choose from. Employees are always nice and friendly. Never had a bad experience, and we were once-a-week customers from 2013 to 2015. Good to see they're still doing well after we moved. Not used to paying for chips, but the size of the order left me with little to complain about. Indeed the same could be said for everything we ordered. In addition, the burrito had a generous serving of guacamole. We love to visit El Paso when we're in Midlothian. Clean tables, sunny atmosphere, and quick, attentive, smiling, patient wait staff who have always been nice and helpful, particularly when I've brought my kids. Food portions are generous and reasonably priced, and the food, in my experience, is always cooked well. This last visit I got the carnitas plate and not only was it delicious but it was a huge amount and enough to take quite a bit home for another meal. I wouldn't say it's anything that you wouldn't find at another USA-style Mexican restaurant, but they do what they do very well and it makes for a really pleasant dining experience.
