I don't understand this. I really don't. This food looks good. It has color and has substance. But there is no flavor at all. It's bland. The meat has no seasoning, the green spaghetti has great color, but no substance. I'll tell you what it was like, like a heavy cream with green food coloring. There was something there but it wasn't flavor. Even plain yogurt has more flavor than this. Now the potatoes. They sliced potatoes, put some kind of yellow flavorless sauce. They deposit $2 water bottles on your table without informing you their cost! Paid $9 for a salad that consisted of half a tomato, 1/4 of a cucumber and you had to mix your own dressing! Stopped by here for a quick lunch with some friends and really enjoyed the fish chowder soup! Super creamy, flavorful and big portions. My friends tried some of their delectable desserts. Excellent spot, I'm glad I stopped by on this rainy day. Nobody was in the restaurant and that's usually a bad sign but this case may have been due to the rain. They give you popped corn kernels that are so freaking good, I don't know how something so simple can be so addicting. So tasty, comes with a salsa it was good but I liked the flavor of the corn kernels alone. Yumm-mee I got a small chicken soup that was good too, nothing spectacular but good. Comes with flat spaghetti in it, noodle soup. Tasty. Anyway, everyone raves about the ceviche but I was in the mood for steak so I ordered the steak with white rice and black beans. This is a very nice restaurant. It is beautifully decorated, the food is delicious, and the staff is very nice. My service was OK - but only OK (See remarks below). When I visited (6-18-2020) the service was slow. With four tables to serve and two servers, one would think that the service would be outstanding. I have in fact been in many restaurants both in SW FL and in the Chicago area where there have been many more tables per server, and the service was much, much faster. When I called this to the attention of the manager, he took umbrage - and when I went back into the restaurant to tell him some positive points about El Patio Restaurant, he accused me of harassment and threatened to call the police - so, naturally, I left. Bizarre! BOTTOM LINE: If you are looking for faster service - and for a restaurant manager who is not so insecure as to become defensive, go somewhere else. I gave this restaurant two stars because of its positives - but only two stars. Deal with the staff. They're great. But forget dealing with this restaurant's manager. read more

I give this place a solid 5 stars for the food. I have yet to be disappointed. I've come in maybe once and ordered take out and delivery perhaps another 3 times. My wife and in laws always order the lomo saltado. It's their go to. My wife has yet to complain and normally gobbles it all up. My in laws, they can be a little critical, stating the fries and rice get "a little soggy" by the time it gets delivered. Is it true? Maybe. Of course the fries and rice may be a bit fresher or crunchier if you ate in the restaurant but I don't see it being a deal breaker. Myself I've ordered now their seco which is like a pot roast. It's quickly becoming my go to. The combination of the rice, meat, and onions is right up my alley. It may seem like a lot of food but when it's all gone you won't complain. The restaurant was smaller than I thought it was but it was decorated nicely and seemed very clean. Liz seated us and got our drinks right away. Since it was our first time there she went over the menu and was very helpful! I ordered the baby beef and my friend ordered the lomo saltado. Our food came out promptly.
