Husband has mention checking out this place sometime. We normally cook, but tonight I was up for something quick and easy. Went thru the drive-thru and didn't have any issues ordering. We received what we paid for so no probs there. That's where the stars stop. Got home and took a bite of the chicken black bean bowl I ordered and the rice was HARD! Ouch! I was hangry, so I ate around the undercooked rice (hoping for undercooked and not stale). The rest was ok. I dumped a ton of hot sauce on it. Husband got a quesadilla and the first few bites were only onions. Then he found some meat. Then on the other side of the quesadilla was a hunk of cheese. Nothing was mixed together. Gross. I swear every week we come here just cause their chicken is so good. The chicken is grilled fresh daily and I've never had a bad experience here. They have horchata here, which is awesome. I'm from the Midwest and I don't think I even knew what horchata was before this place. My favorites are the Double chicken tostada/ or burrito bowl. I have been to this location several times and some good experiences and had some not so good. Went there today and had the pleasure of believe MG served by Michael. This person is a star amounts the staff. Smiles, listens and he went above and beyond when I had a problem. The issue was no a bad problem, and when I alerted them I figured that was that. Michael not only listened to the problem, but then came back with a solution that was above and beyond expectation. As a long time El Pollo customer from LA, this store has opens to a rocky start. They do seem to continue to smooth their service wrinkles, and added more staff like Michael may allow them to truly be successful on street with so many other places to choose from. read more

I ordered the chicken taco platter. The chicken and tortillas were served cold. Rice and beans were average. The queso was clumpy and lukewarm. The chips were ok. This was my 2nd visit. They were out of unsweetened iced tea on both visits. When I told the shift manager they were out of tea, he simply instructed the front cashier to serve me tea from an open pitcher of tea with no lid they had behind the counter for the drive thru orders. Who knows how long that pitcher of tea was sitting there. Yuck! This must be a health code violation. The shift manager never instructed anyone to brew more tea in the beverage station. They were not busy and the staff was laughing and carrying on in the prep area. I was also served my meal without any eating utensils. There are no utensils available near the beverage station so I had to go to the counter and wait until one of the workers realized I was needing help. Someone finally came to the front to give me some plastic ware. The food and especially service was really disappointing! Will not return. read more

The drive thru girl is hard to hear and she gets your order confused. I asked for a chicken taco al carbon and she assumed I wanted street tacos, which they don't sell. Ok that's fine but I never mentioned the word "street" just chicken taco al carbon. Upon paying I see that I was charged for the chicken taco?? So you sell chicken tacos al carbon but no street tacos...it was 2 mini corn tortillas folded and it was the size of my palm. They look just like the ones I buy off the street in garland and these pollo loco tacos taste horrible. We saw an advertisement and couldn't wait to eat again at one of our go to restaurant from a decade ago in CA. While in Allen I stopped in and found a busy lobby. I ordered a family meal and asked to substitute the churros, but no can do. It wasnt a nice attitude from the manager, but the cashier tried to help me. The cashier gave me a nutrition guide, menu and suggestions. So after deciding on a family meal I get 3 sides to choose from. BUT they are out of 3 of them. Really?? So the cashier says she'll give me an extra rice free of charge. I get home and I'm not only missing my free rice I also am missing the rice I ordered. Food was OK. I liked the corn side. The beans were blah. Wish I knew what the rice was like...guessing blah too. read more

Forgettable food combined with bad service and an incorrect order makes me not want to rush back. The drive thru line was long but moved quickly. I opted to try a street taco and a regular taco. I also ordered a chicken avocado quesadilla but ended up getting burrito instead. I asked for salsa at the window and got none...she actually seemed offended when I requested it. I was home before I discovered this and I didn't want to drive back or even call to complain so disclaimer - they didn't get the chance to fix it. Not sure why the review is low but we really think they have yummy and flavorful chicken! Definitely one of our go to for casual meals when I'm too lazy to cook. Great healthy options as well. The Pollo Loco on Stacy Rd in Allen, TX started out pretty well. I eat lunch there 2-3 times per week. Over the course of the year it has fallen a long way. I visited there on the 19th of January at about 3PM. Only one other guest in the restaurant. Went to wash my hands and the Men's room was trashed and the wash basin was literally black inside with a build up of scum. Toilet paper on the floor. I could hear the employees yelling back and forth to one another in the kitchen. The service was perfunctory. The sales person seemed uninterested. They do have a couple of sales people there with personality but they were absent. I gave the sales person a previous receipt to duplicate for my order and she almost got it right. I do wish they would fix this unit as I do like the menu very much. I would also suggest that the cooks not pitch the chicken from the char grills on the right of the customers to the grills on the left. While it really doesn't hurt anything, it does look unappetizing . read more

My first visit to El Pollo Loco. There was much anticipation and excitement about it's opening (officially 8/24) in Allen, TX. I was, however, disappointed. Upon suggestion, ordered the chicken/avocado quesadilla. Added chips/queso. This was @ 10:50 am (drive-thru). The chips were stale, the queso near solid and the quesadilla cold! How is that even possible within the first hour of opening?!?! Was the food prepared the night before?!?! Although cold, the chicken tasted okay. I'll think about giving them another chance. We went today for the Facebook event. We were took the drive thru option because we thought it would be crowded but ended up being the 2nd car in the drive thru....my mom was 1st. Food was hot and fresh, the staff were very nice and the food was delicious. Good portions and filling. We will be back and recommend it. I've tried curbside pickup at this location on 3 separate occasions and every single time I have had to wait 15-20 minutes, and then call into the store or walk in anyways. The first time they were super busy so I give them a pass (was $1 taco day) but the last two times there is no reason for it other than the employees are just not trained properly for the service. When I went in today the ice in my drink had already completely melted and as I was driving home I realized it wasn't the correct beverage either. My food has just been sitting on the counter getting cold all three times. Very frustrating and disappointing. read more

The food is fair compare to other chicken fast food ventures. They portions are ok but they overload with beans to cover for a small peace of chicken. The avocado chicken is fairly good and well done. The veggies are fresh. The drive through is always busy but I hope its just the beginning buzz... Absolutely love this place, have been going here for a while on and off and the staff is always so friendly and welcoming. They definitely have amazing customer service, always making sure we are doing good and happy with our food. Not to mention there is also great food and the new menu with healthier options. I have never had a bad experience here, every time I go I get my food pretty fast and it always tastes amazing! The salsa always adds flavor to anything and you can never go wrong with the avocado salsa. Will definitely be coming more often and adding it to one of my favorite places to eat. read more

Its always very busy because the food is at a reasonable price, good portions, good tasting and service is good they will offer to refill your drinks no tips required. The only complaint I have are the chips they are on the greasy side and this makes them tough and chewy not chrisp like I think they should be. Fix the chips! read more

The chicken was dry, the tables were dirty, there was a major water leak that was very dangerous even though a sign was posted to be careful.
