Went here 5/10/24 for a catering order. They have really reasonable lunch boxes for large catered orders and lots of options for buffet style or individual packs. The general manager helped me and he was doing a super job of attending to walk-in orders and the other workers. I had an order of 47 pollo bowls for the local school faculty. The order was ready on time, complete with all the utensils, napkins and all bagged up, and hot. Will come back again. Not the cleanest location. I saw there were napkins on the floors and sauces smeared on the door handles and counter tops. But the customer service is great Parking isn't ideal either but if you make a few loops you will find something. I ordered he Double Chicken Protein Bowl Salad. It didn't take long for it to be ready and it was delicious. It has avocado, chicken, spinach, black beans, corn and home made salsa. It was truly delicious. I added some more home made salsa from their counter of sauces and some avocado sauce as well. It made it even more delicious! A little stingy on the chicken--ironic, since it's called El Pollo Loco and there's barely any pollo--but that's a minor thing, at least in comparison to its other issues. What really gets me is that they always get my order wrong, usually with a thing or two, or six things missing. I wish I were being hyperbolic, but nay. It's consistent letdowns order after order. No salsa, no sauce, even if you've ordered three of them each online. It's clearly printed on the receipt, and with that quantity, it's hard to even miss. It's almost as if they choose not to see that even though it takes half the amount of space on the receipt. Love having to drive half an hour during my lunch break--Glendale traffic is stupid as hell, let me tell you--to come back with six things missing. Should have I checked? Sure, and normally I do only to find out certain things aren't there while I'm still in the store. But on the times that I forget to take a look and come back home with items nowhere in sight, I just grin and say, "Oh El Pollo Loco! I can always count on you to disappoint me!" I'm being sarcastic, but sometimes I need humor to distract me from letdowns and these are one of those moments. To repeat, this is not a one-time occasion nor has this happened a few other times--this has happened almost, if not, every time. I've complained to corporate, yet I doubt anything will happen because the last time I contacted them, I didn't even get a response when I flagged that there were issues with redeeming rewards back in November. And I've complained to this specific store, they apologized, but will that even make them more cognizant about their carelessness? No. If you refer to the previous Yelp reviews for this location, you'll see that missing items/wrong orders have been a recurring theme for years so the apology is really all for nothing. Hell, it's not even this store that blows, it's practically all the El Pollo Locos I've been to. I try my best to be as sympathetic as much as possible because I know firsthand that working in customer service is a pain in the ass and it's not very lucrative either in the realm of fast food, but holy shit, this spot has tested me so many times. I'd recommend this place if you love getting your orders consistently screwed up and love rice burritos with three pieces of chicken inside. Another time these 2 employees were flirting with each other and gave my husband attitude and rolled their eyes when he asked them about his order. This El Pollo Loco is close to our home and we have been here many times. 9/10 times we encounter an employee who is very rude, ignoring, and acts like they hate their job. This review is slightly biased as it is from to point of view of someone who does not eat meat, El Pollo Loco's specialty. It's unfortunate that they removed fake chicken from their menu, because I know that there were a good amount of people that enjoyed it. They still have vegan options, however the staff is clearly pretty untrained since they had no idea if some of their items were made using non-vegan ingredients. Today's my first time trying El Pollo Loco and the experience was actually very positive! We ordered the double chicken bowl and it's so good, with a large portion of moist chicken meat and the tasty fresh cilantro sauce. Overall, to me it's a great combination of flavors for a lean healthy diet :) The staff was very nice, especially the young manager who greeted us and eagerly gave out vouchers. When I ordered online, they always missed the requests such as sauce on the side or adjustment for NO beans. When I go to order there, I usually had an item missing as well (which made me check every time before I leave here to make sure all my items are inside) or it takes forever to receive an order. I ordered AHEAD/even lined up on the register ordering, and then I'm stuck wondering why it takes a long time to get my order. I know chicken cooks longer, but not for the wait that I had to deal with! I get tired of ordering here and I wish another El Pollo Loco was closer, but until then I have to settle for this place. You'll stand in line forever until someone takes your order and they won't even apologize or let you know they'll be with you. If you do order drive up, they'll never come to give you your order or let you know if it's late, you have to go in yourself. They took an extra 45 minutes before I got my order. The front workers do not know how to multi task and move quickly. They move really slow despite when it's very busy and don't put the customers first. If you order online, you might have better luck getting your order on time, but they might make a mistake on your order. Ordering in person, though, you will lose half your day. read more
