I hate posting bad reviews but my service last night was just so terrible I honestly do not think I will ever step foot in this place again. Me and my friend went in last night at about 9:20 or so. We never go in places so late (worked in customer service so I know how crappy it is for late comers!) but we just needed to grab a bite then head out. We come in to be "greeted" rudely by Theresa. She kept rushing us and would not listen to us with her constant interruptions. I let that go... The whole salsa bar and drink area was sticky or covered in salsa. This is the 3rd time I have seen this area very dirty. We sit and wait a good amount of time before we get our food. Least 10-15 mins (not a big deal but trying to give a time line). Finally get food and not only is our chicken BURNT it is so hard and dry we could not eat 1/2 of the chicken on our plates. My friend then proceeds to spit up his food because there is a BONE in his chicken...yeah I will just that sit there. The icing on the cake was when Theresa came over to us with all her cleaning supplies in hand next to my food and tells us "We are shutting down in 5 mins, were closing the lobby area just so you know. So yeah..." then looks from me to my food and back basically telling me to hurry up. Its not even that she was informing me they were closing, which I was 100% aware of (again worked in customer service!), but it was her manner. She just had the worst attitude and was so rude it was unbelievable. With the horrible service, the bad chicken, and finally the bone that's just a three striker for me. And this is not the first time I had issues with this location. If your okay with all of this for your eating experience then please go. If not, I suggest Chipotle. read more

So my first thought when I walked in is what happened that this place was as dirty as I saw. The salsa bar. Drink machine. Tables and floors were a mess. I almost walked out because of this however the taste of the food is what saved this visit. I ordered at 244pm and had a meal hot and fresh at 251pm. The front counter man who I didn't see wearing a name badge was very bright and respectful. After eating a part of my meal I started to notice a slight pick up in business however the speed of service was very slow. They didn't seem short staffed. I then walked up to the salsa bar to grab some of the green salsa I like so much and not only was I met with an extremely dirty bar they were out of salsa and it looked like it hadn't been wiped or refilled at all in a few days. (Perception is reality) I went back to my table with no green to little bit of green salsa and finish my meal as quickly as I could. Yesterday, in the search for a "healthier" fast food option, I came across El Pollo Loco. I loved the promise of using fresh foods, the different salad varieties and the multiple under 500 calorie meal options. I ordered the chicken Avocado wrap and side salad combo and was very satisfied with my choice. It was a very filling meal that tasted great. I loved the cojita cheese and corn added to the salad- the flavor was excellent. My meal was ready about five minutes after ordering. They give you pagers to know when to pick up your food. The manager went table to table to check in with guests and thank them for coming, which I always think is nice. Several people were sweeping and wiping down the already clean restaurant. First visit. Not necessarily our last. I loved the food great quality ingredients. Cold things were crisp and cold as well as hot things were piping hot. But we made a purchase through drive thru. The manager was taking the orders and the employees were standing around. One handed us our bag and it was missing something. He replaced it and gave us both something to compensate. Had a coupon for the new layered avocado salad so I thought I would try one. It came in a decent sized bowl but it was mostly lettuce and rice. I ordered the shrimp mango avocado salad. There were two small slices of brown avocado (see pic), one core or lettuce, and maybe 4 corn-sized bits of mango throughout the whole salad. How can you call it a layered avocado salad when you only have two bits of bad avocado in the entire thing?! The shrimp was good, so I'll give it two stars. There were 5 medium sized shrimps in the salad. Everything else was filler, and even though I had the coupon, I still feel like I was gypped. I love El Pollo Loco but this one is horrible. Every time I've made the mistake of going here, I've regretted it. Once I got the pollo bowl and it was filled with some weird liquid. Seriously it had the texture of soup. It was gross and inedible. Today I wanted guac and chips and I was closer to this one than to the one I usually go to on Mason. I thought okay it's guac, how bad could it be? Well it was the worst guac I've ever had in my life. They used old, stringy, too ripe avocados to make this guac. I took one bite and spit it out. This location is right next to the gym and is a great place to eat and not feel like you just undid all your hard work!! Everything on the menu is amazing and they do have an under 500 calorie menu that is just as great. This is a newer location and I think still trying to get staff trained so there sometimes can be a wait which is why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars. They had plenty of workers and should have at all times one worker in the dining area to clean the tables and sweep the floors. Cashier wasnt friendly seem a bit impatient when I ordered.
