I come to this location twice a week because I work across the street. This location changed owners about a year ago for the better. The service is FAST and the portions are good. You can see the manager or owner in the front working and making sure all the staff is hustling. Everyone is working hard but they all have great attitudes. There is an employee that walks around to make sure customers are satisfied. Another employee constantly filling the salsa bar, making tea or cleaning the tables. The locals have noticed because the crowds are larger but they still service everyone quickly. This is a great place for good food while on limited time. read more

This EPL has restored my hope for this company. The one on Alicia Parkway is a disgrace with their bad attitudes and running out of chicken. The one on baker in Costa Mesa takes way too long and all of their sides taste like tap water. I'm serious try the tap n cheese or the tapped potatoes there. This store is different. They have chicken ready when you get there (novel idea for that garbage store on Alicia) and their sides don't taste like tap water... if it was I wouldn't know. The workers are all nice, and the drive through is very fast. I went the other day and the dude was training a new employee and they still got me through there in like 50 seconds. This review is about Elliott. Ever since my daughter and I became vegan we come here a lot for beans and guacamole. We've been here at least 2-3 times a week. Elliott is always so kind and patient, even when the line is long. It really means a lot to my daughter and I when we come across employees that go above and beyond their job description. There was this one time when the line wasn't long and I realized at the window I ordered the wrong bowl (it had been a long week for me) and I mentioned to Elliot I would go back around to order through the intercom. I usually visit this location about three to four times a week. I used to love this location. Food is great. Never had any issues with my orders or with service but last month I had the worst experience with one of their Managers named Ariana I believe. Ariana was rude, loud and didn't even let me finish asking her a question regarding my coupon I got on their App. I was on the drive thru and she just kept talking and wouldn't even let me finish asking my questions. She has very poor customer skills. I was surprised when she told me she was the Manager. When I got to the window I asked to speak to her and she still had that bad attitude. Not one apology. This place is a joke. I went through the drive thru right at opening. This place always gives me my order wrong so before i leave I double check it to avoid leaving without my CORRECT order. As I pulled up to the window waited for my order, received it I was checking my order to make sure it was correct and some workers very rudely said "GO GO GO" to me as in to tell me to drive off. I am aware that you get timed with your orders but that is no way to tell your customers to leave so that you can get your times right. Oh and my order was wrong! I didn't receive one of my sides. Which is why I always check my order at this location. If they weren't in such a hurry to get the drive thru timing they would pay attention to the orders they're giving out. This past evening was our second time to this El Pollo Loco location. And contrary to our first visit (2.5 to 3 stars) we were greatly disappointed this second and last time. The whole chicken was a whole chick and nothing more. In addition, the chick was burnt and simply dry. We had a coupon, which forces me to wonder if El Pollo Loco has a chick for coupons and chicken for regular priced meals. I'm writing about my experience with this specific location in June. My friends had been slaving away for my roommate and I since we were moving out of our apartment and we decided to treat them to dinner. They were having a deal when you buy a family meal you can double the amount of chicken for $5.00. They accidentally charged me double so our total was over $50! I thought the price was high but I didn't bother to check the receipt (totally my fault). I than asked the cashier if I could have one of those styrofoam cups to put the salsa and peppers in since afterall I just bought 2 family size meals, but instead she just fought with me and wouldn't let me get the cups! Next to me I see some other lady with the cups I had been asking for. Sheesh you spend $50 and they can't just give you a couple of cups... Needless to say I used about 20 of those teeny tiny plastic containers instead and out of spite I probably got extra salsa. So here's what gets me even more annoyed. I realized AFTER I went home that they overcharged me, but I just didn't have the time to go back into the store to ask them to give me a refund. So I called their customer service line and they told me that the actual store would call me to fix the problem, but instead they just sent me two $5.00 gift certificates.... They actually needed to refund me about $15 so they jacked me $5, and there isn't even a El Pollo Loco near me, so I have to wait to use those gift cards!!!!! read more

I go in with a in app code for free nachos and my emt card, on arrival the employee says she can only input one code which was fine for me and I decided to use the one for free nachos. For a fast food chain, this place sure has some of the best macaroni and cheese I have had. I mean seriously, if I need to think of a side to go with the dinner I am making, half of the time i will come here on my way home and grab a side of mac for dinner, it's that good! It can take a while to get through the drive-thru here since there always seems to be a long line, however I prefer to go inside instead so I can use their salsa bar (mmmmm avocado salsa). I don't think I have ever ordered from here and been upset when I left. However as good as this place is, they need to update this page so that the correct hours are shown. Ordered the two piece combo. When it came out the underside was completely burned. I picked at it with my fork to see if it was just the skin that was charred, but the whole breast was dry and crusty, so I brought it back to the counter. Yesterday I needed a quick dinner so I went for the BRC burrito at a different El pollo loco location. It's my go to because it's quick, cheap, and pretty good for the most part. This other location toasted my burrito on the grill and it was fantastic. All of the cheese melted throughout. So I come in to this location today because I work right next to it, and the man at the drive through refused to grill my burrito. I don't understand what the problem was. Same ingredients, same equipment. He said we couldn't take food from another restaurant... What food? What other restaurant? It's the same chain. I called the manager at the other location to check and she said there was absolutely no reason for this man to deny me a delicious cheesy burrito. I have been a regular at this location, and have I always enjoyed my favorites on the menu. Sometimes I m not scared to try new menu items such as the tortilla roll which comes with different kinds of dipping sauce. This was kind of a rip from Taco Bell, but at least they manage to make it somewhat healthy. The new knock off they have is the called the "Chicken Sliders" which are basically your KFC sandwiches and there is nothing healthy or nutritious about this item. I have seen better cheap imitations on the streets of Hong Kong. There is nothing real about this piece of shit for $1.25. Starting with the dinner roll, the cole slaw lettuce and the defrosted chicken patty they used to serve in your high school cafeteria. Usually El Pollo items do not taste like the price, but now I understand what they are doing to cut corners. I don't know the nutritional value of this item, but I have reheated some better Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches than this crappy slider. Stay away from the Chicken Sliders... oh yea don't get me going on that BBQ flavor which features the premarinated frozen carne asada for those that are too lazy to make real tacos. read more

Yea it's hidden in the Tustin Marketplace where there's 91823 number of other good restaurants but El Pollo Loco is worth your money!!! I came here with less than 30 bucks for a meal to feed a group of people. (meaning me and the BF) We ended up ordering the 12 piece family meal and the total came up to $26 bucks!! The meal came with 12 pieces of mixed chicken and 4 large sides!! It also of course comes with like 10 tortillas. Way more than enough. For 26 dollars, that's pretty worth it. It was able to feed me and the BF for literally almost 3 days. The chicken was delicious! It wasn't small or thin but good decent size with fat chunks of meat on them. Nicely roasted with a nice crispy skin. It wasn't overly too salty but just good enough. It wasn't as dry as I thought it would be too. It was pretty juicy actually. We ended up getting mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, spanish rice, and a premium side of roasted corn as well. The best is the salsa bar. I STOCKED UP on the salsa like no other. I got the mild, the onions and cilantros, and the spicy avocado! I got like 5 each no joke. Put all the salsa and sauce with the chicken and tortilla, and you got yourself one bomb ass concoction. So really, 2 1/2 stars? For all that food, it was $26 bucks!!! I could have gone to in n out next door but like I reviewed before, it's always packed there.
