So so good!!! From start to finish, this place has it all. Clean interior with an authentic feel, excellent customer service, good prices, and very tasty food. I tried chilaquiles with salsa verde, my husband the pancake plate with eggs and bacon, and we got some tacos-both breakfast and regular. The breakfast tacos we tried are chorizo, smoked sausage, and bacon-all with eggs. Also my husband got some Al pastor tacos for later but he tried one already and he said they're delicious. I've been in the area almost two years and woke up wanting chilaquiles. After a google search and reading other great reviews, I stumbled across this gem. I will definitely be back. Get there! I love looking for these little hole in the walls Mexican places when I'm out of state as they tend to be really good and this was no exception. This place is an absolute diamond in the ruff. The servers are great, and so many of the little things they do well. Large drink glasses, excellent chips and salsa, homemade tortillas, and great prices for what you're getting. The menus are in Spanish but both the ladies that were serving tables spoke English. I ordered in Spanish (badly) and still got what I ordered and it was great!! I downed the whole thing in a flash and the only thing that slowed me down was they kept making me fresh tortillas to enjoy. I came here looking for a restaurant with sticky menus and good food.I didn't get the sticky menu but I got the good food. The food was nothing less than amazing. The food and service are always great! We are from San Antonio and used to very good Mexican food, and have had trouble finding that in the Bellaire area, that isnt extremely overly priced. El Rancherito has great food at affordable prices. We mainly come for breakfast and get the Huevos Rancheros, chorizo and egg, and carne guisada. I love their corn tortillas while my husband likes their flour. Their salsa is perfect and we love that they give you chips, right as you sit down, even for breakfast. Their coffee is good too and they make sure your drinks are always filled. It's obviously that this is a trusted spot by the locals. It's always busy, but never takes long to get a table, have your order taken, or to be served. read more

My second Firstie review while visiting for about a week? I just happened to be doing laundry nearby at the 24-hour place and had about an hour to kill while the dryer was running. Most nearby restaurants were either closed or just about to, but not Ranchito. Glad there was a non-fast food option available after 9pm on a weeknight. I went with a fajitas combo plate. Ranchera Parrillada for 1: Grilled skirt steak, chicken, and shrimp, along with all the fixins. A basket of complimentary tortilla chips with squeeze bottle salsa arrived first. The green sauce had the more spicy kick over the red. Next was the side of Charro beans and a nice portion of both pico de gallo and guacamole. These items would be a meal in itself, especially the Charro, chock full of pinto and other hearty goodness. Then the sizzling fajitas platter is brought over in all its glory, hissing, popping, and steam vapors circling. The waitress brings over warm tortillas, then the feasting begins. I'm mindful of the clock so I don't forget my drying clothes at the public landromat, while I take down this mini-Mexi-buffet. The friendly waitress checks on me a few times to make sure everything is ok. After watching local news and a telenovela, it's time to head back. I was stuffed and dinner was just south of $13. Food & service was great, and my only minor gripe was that they only had bottles & cans from the fridge. No soda pop fountain drinks. This is probably my all time favorite Mexican restaurant that I've been to in the US. The red and green salsas they give you before the food comes is beyond addictive and I eat almost half the bottle before the food arrives. I'll see if I can buy just the green salsa next time since it's so good but beware that it's pretty spicy. Mostly Spanish speaking here so it's more authentic and great portion sizes. We were greeted very warmly and service was quick with a smile, homemade salsa and chips and tortillas. All hot and so delicious! A lot of great options, I ordered the chile relleno and it was amazing. It comes with meat and cheese, and the meat is fajita!!! so good. oh and almost forgot the delicious aguas frescas. so affordable too! Parking may be a problem when super busy but luckily someone was leaving when we got there. The staff is very nice and to be honest the salsa they give you with the chips was ok in flavor but a little to runny. I think if they could make it thick then it would be good to use with the chips. The fish fry was good, carne asada torta was also very delicious. My favorite was the rice and they also offer coke products . Overall it was a pleasant meal and although it wasn't the best Mexican food I have gone too, it is more on the authentic side. I decided to try this place out and I was totally disgusted by it. I ordered el bistek ranchero and the meat was full of nerves and fat. I was displeased to find out that their flour tortillas are not handmade... they are store prepackaged bought per their waitress who I asked. I do not recommend their food at all. Go to Tepatitlan instead. Also I didn't notice this because I have never tasted it, but when my wife ate the red salsa she said it tasted exactly like the Pace Picante salsa that comes in a jar at grocery stores...she said it had the same texture and chunkiness as well. She grew up eating this salsa(pace) and while she likes it- we both can agree that it doesn't belong in a Mexican restaurant where you would expect to have homemade salsa. I review this place as a Mexican that is used to authentic Mexican food. --- No recomiendo este lugar. Ordene el bistek ranchero y la carne estava llena de grasa y nervios. Ok, this place isn't the nicest from asthetics point of view but the food is great. Had the torta (sandwich) de pastor and my brother had tacos de lengua. Really fresh, well seasoned and my torta was pressed well. Tried the Horcahata and Jamaica both were not too sweet which is how I like it. Good cheap food in a converted house with limited parking. They serve breakfast all day. If you are vegetarian, then a traditional Mexican place is not for you since there's lard in the beans (probably flour tortilla) and the rice seems to be made with chicken stock. They serve a creamy green sauce similar to Ruchi's and that spice will stick to you. The red sauce is not as spicy but still has plenty of bite. The best menudo in town! I used to door dash 3 multiple times a week but suddenly menudo is not available on the doordash menu. I have tried so many other places. None are good or even come close! I'm a sucker for huevos rancheros and the meal at this place is delicious and up to my standards. Order them before noon to make sure you get the potatoes, otherwise you'll get rice. I requested fajita steak as an extra on one occasion and was not disappointed. Went with a coworker on one occasion, and she got shrimp tacos; she was pleased with the amount of actual shrimp served, and she also enjoyed the breakfast taco she ordered. It's really close to where I work, so I try to have breakfast here once in a while. Service is good and the atmosphere is comfy.
