The place gave me such bad Diarrhea it felt like tsunami of brown rice bean pasta liquid blasted out my bung hole breaking my toilet at 3 am. I had to get my mom to clean the restroom. My second time here and it will be my last. Ordered the beef taco, enchilada with rice and beans. Taco shell was the standard store bought, not the authentic fried corn tortilla. Plate was hot but the food was cold. The enchilada was the worst. A corn tortilla rolled and microwaved, wasn't cooked, couldn't even cut it with a knife. No flavor for the rice and beans. My family gets a little irritated when I complain about my food so I didnt. The waitress picked up my plate knowing I only took two bites and didn't ask a thing, so the service was mediocre at best. My family was recently at Great Wolf lodge and we were looking for some great Mexican food. We came across El Rancho Grande. My wife had the lunch special 17, grilled steak and cheese burro, if was prepared very well as well as tasty. I had a lunch special 4, taco, rice and beans, it was equally as well prepared and tasty. The kids both ordered from the children's menu. We ordered a side of guacamole, Everything arrived quickly and well prepared. Even better than the food was the service. Very disappointed with the lunch here. We ordered the guacamole dip to go with the chips and it was terrible - no onions or tomatoes, just avocado. That was still okay by us except the guacamole was already looking discolored so no idea how long it sat outside. For entree, I had the Combo #19, which had a burrito, an enchilada, and a chalupa. The burrito looked nothing like a burrito. The chalupa was not well prepared. The red sauce in the dish was very salty. My husband had one of the chicken dishes and he found that one bland as well. The food was just average. But the customer service is horrible! The manager refused to take my legitimate coupon because he said I didn't spend enough money on my dinner. Because the dinner wasn't expensive enough you wouldn't accept the coupon even though I haven't had a plate of enchiladas. He refused to discuss it with me and make any concessions. We ordered margaritas on the rocks which were 50% off during happy hour. They were pretty good. We ordered one combo and one La Favorita which is a burrito and enchilada. The Favorita was smothered in cheese sauce. No enchilada sauce, which was strange. The chicken and steak fillings were generous, but gosh quite salty! Maybe they do that so you drink more?? Here's how to get a great low fat vegan meal at this restaurant: Order the veggie fajitas prepared with no added oil (trust me.. they will come out delicious but not greasy). Then, substitute the rice and refried beans with black beans. No cheese or sour cream. And finally, get the corn tortillas instead of the flour tortillas. PERFECTION! You will thank yourself later. We have always loved the service at this restaurant. It is a large restaurant and even if the parking lot looks full, it rarely is because it is just such a big place. This is my first trip to El Rancho Grande and my first review! I will definitely be back. I had the Chile Colorado with pork. The pork was very tender and tasty. It was excellent! The service was exceptional and the servers were professional and friendly. The restaurant was very clean which is important to me. I also tried pork tamales. I would describe it as good but not the best I've had. My x-girlfriend's mother spoiled me with her Tamales. They were the best in Southern California! So, I'm pretty picky. You may try them and love them. I would give five stars but I will reserve five stars for other Cincinnati area restaurants like Jeff Ruby's (any of them), Pappadeaux (chain I know, but still excellent), Nada, Orchids, etc... El Rancho Grande was a solid 4 stars. I'd recommend giving them a try. read more

Only issue is this place is noise levels -- even when not crowded. The problem is the decor. Everything is hard and sound just bounces around. Small investment in carpeting or baffles is needed. The food at this place is great! Lots of flavor, the salsa is really good. The food is always hot. The service on the other hand is below average. I've been here 3 times in the last month and the service has trended downward instead of staying constant or going up. The first time I went there the service was great. The second time it was so so. The 3rd time it was awful. The waiter came to our table a total of 3 times and that was it. We had to ask for a refill and couldn't get someone come to our table until we tried to fill our glass up ourselves. My buddy waived to the waiter a couple times and he just ignored him. We thought it was a one off scenario until we walked to the register to get our checks and saw our waiter playing on his cell phone. If you are at work, you should not play on your cell phone. You are paid to WORK! I am a manager and if I saw one of my employees on their cell phone while they are supposed to be servicing a client, I would write them up. I was disappointed with our visit to this addition to the string of restaurants along Mason Montgomery Rd. Decor is great, BUT the Salsa was thin and soupy with little spice. It was served with a basket of broken and crushed tortilla chips and without saucers to catch the drips which were inevitable with the kind of salsa served. The burritos and Enchiladas were terrible. No seasoning and without reasonable sauce. The chicken fajita was ok but was served with just 3 tortillas, wrapped in aluminum foil. Service was OK though it did not make up for the rather mediocre food. The price we paid should buy freshly prepared Mexican specialties. We got instead stuff from a can or bag. This is a neat new re-branded Mexican place. The food was wonderful, the service was lacking. I counted only seven occupied tables in the entire restaurant, so we weren't part of the lunch rush by any means. We had to leave the table three times to track down our waiter to ask for silverware, a napkin, and the forgotten items from our order. Once we got the food, it was truly delicious. Getting the bill was another trip to the kitchen door to request the bills. They were incorrect, but we wouldn't find him to ask for the corrections. They were made at the register on the way out. We were certainly not made to feel very welcome.. As a matter of fact, I left feeling as though I had somehow inconvenienced the waitstaff. This was my husband and I's first time coming here so I didn't know what to expect. Everything was absolutely wonderful from the minute we walked in the door. The restaurant is very well done and elegant. The employees greeted us immediately and sat us right away. Chips and salsa were delicious!
