Tried Mexican takeout last night. Not bad. Not great. Queso had good flavor but way too runny. I like the non-chain-food feel of the restaurant but after coming here over the years it's easy to see that the place is in need of a little TLC as far as upkeep. Kinda why we opted to take food home since we live so close. Guacamole was spot on as was the enchiladas (except for the runny queso on top). End the end, I'd still come back. read more

This is the first time I have been here for in Sunday, and boy it is a far cry from other visits. The techno music when you walk makes you think your a night club that has people eating instead of dancing. While sitting down we were listening to loud techno music and hockey playing on the tv. I've only ordered their carbs asada and menudo dish a few times. I haven't tried anything else but those two dishes were so good that I continue to order. El Rincon is THE BUSINESS. I've been coming here for years, mostly for their b-tacs, but lately we've been mixing in some dinner action as well. Don't get me wrong - it's definitely your typical hole in the wall Mexi Rest with poor decor and slightly dirty atmosphere. The service is always great and atmosphere a little sub-par, but it's as expected. It's pretty difficult to screw up different combos of meat, cheese, beans and flour. I also cater b-tacs from these cats, and I highly recommend it! They were on time, tacos hot, and everything delish. Their homemade flour tortillas are enough to keep me coming back time and time again. One small tip - Friday nights they have a guy "singing." It's like going to a Karaoke bar where your drunk tone-deaf uncle has dominated the stage and keeps forgetting the words. Seriously don't know what people are excited about. We had heard great things about this place so when we moved from Round Rock to PVille we figured it was time we check it out. Plus we had a coupon for free queso so that just sweetened the deal. The place was pretty packed so we figured it must be good. Looking around though, I noticed that the only hispanics were the employees. That should have been a red flag. When 30% of the population is hispanic but none of them eat at your mexican restaurant, it's probably not good mexican food. Our server showed up about 5 min after we were seated. Since they were busy I overlooked this. In the meantime we snacked on the chips and tomato paste (I don't think it qualifies as salsa). He took our drink and food order all at once since we had plenty of time to look at the menu. The queso was so-so. Not great but also not bad. The enchiladas were pretty tasteless and the margarita was super sweet. In all, we paid $46(before tip) for two adult entrees, two kids meals, a corona and a margarita. I'm pretty sure they charged us for the queso also but I didn't really look at it until we got home and it wasn't worth going back for. Considering the service was mediocre, food was bad, atmosphere left a lot to be desired, and an overpriced check, I won't be going back. read more

I will say that the menudo is really good here. One of the few mexican places around town that makes menudo right and doesn't taste like crap literally. Had El Rincon on the way to SXSW on Friday last week. I loved it. We got there right as breakfast was shutting down but they had no problem serving it to us. I ordered the chorizo and eggs and it came with homemade tortillas. The salsa was AWESOME. Just like I like it, fresh, almost pico'y. I will definitely want to go back there next time I'm in P-ville. I am interested in trying some of their breakfast taco's which I hear are also good! Oh and because I love to check out the ladies room.... this one had a gorgous one! I was VERY surprised by it! Let me start out by saying I am not huge fan of Tex-Mex, but this is some yummy stuff. I work across the street and eat her often. My favorites: -Fish Tacos -Taco Salad -Green chicken enchilada's -Tortilla Soup!!!! I really love their tortilla soup! It's one of the best I have had. Why did this place not close again? I've never been impressed by their food. They always mess up my to go order. Once they even knowingly gave my order to somebody else. I walked across the street to get a juice from the store as I walked back into Rincon the lady at the register points to the guy that was walking out as I walked in and says "he has your order" if she knew why would she give it to him? Speaking of the lady behind counter, Either she doesn't like anglos, just me personally, or it's a classic case of resting bitch face. Of course I wouldn't be smiling either if I was 60 years old and still working behind a register. A half dozen waitresses standing around laughing and ignoring customers. It's no wonder they were on the verge of closing. It's only a matter of time. RIP Rincon you've lost my business. But honestly in the 3 years I've lived in Pflugerville I've only eaten their food 3 times so my patronage isn't important. 2 stars because it was edible and I didn't puke it up. This is a good place to grab breakfast tacos. Their lunch specials are a good deal starting at just $3.99, but the food I've had so far is on the bland side. (Maybe it's just the chicken, but my co-workers said the same about their beef tacos.) I had the 3 taco lunch special recently and the chicken wasn't very flavorful. However, they were good size so I saved one for dinner later. Today I ordered the taco salad lunch special and again, the chicken really lacked flavor. I had to order a side of guacamole to jazz it up since there was no dressing and little chicken on the salad. El Rincon? More like El Stinkon. I'd give no stars if Yelp would let me, and while I don't like giving bad reviews, the food here earned it. This is NOT authentic Mexican food. It's Tex-Mex, and horrible at that. The chips were store bought and stale. The salsa had a metallic taste as if it came from a can and was OLD, and the queso was just melted velveeta with 3 jalapeño slices in it. The tortillas were homemade - but godawful! These were without a doubt the worst tortillas I'd ever had in my life. They were thick, doughy and burnt. There's also no excuse for their abuse of velveeta, or maybe government cheese. It wasn't just in the queso. I ordered a cheese enchilada, and it was nothing but a tortilla wrapped around a slice of velveeta that wasn't completely melted. Then, the cheese sauce on my husband's plate was just melted velveeta, too. They didn't even bother with adding rotel or seasoning to it. Stay away from this place, unless you want to get sick. We couldn't eat our food and left. Also the service was horrible. It took several minutes to be seated, while several young employees were standing at the front chatting. No refills offered on our drinks, and we had to wave the server down to get our check. Even the margaritas tasted off, as if the mix had gone bad, which was a shame. I might have enjoyed the meal more if I'd been able to get a little buzz. read more

Been here a few times and it is ok. Beer is always cold and the food is reasonably priced. Service is always hit or miss and I swear they reheat food. The last few times we have gone the queso tasted nuked and our food was room temp. They have live music with a fun bar area. read more

We came to eat here on a Friday night. Ale was our waiter. He was very Curtis and knowledgeable about the menu. We all had some wine ( French red wine is a must try) and multiple appetizers ( sausage, shrimp and octopus). For our main course we ate 'Paella' which was divine. So where to start, building is old ugly on the outside, the drinks are awful and the tortilla soup has veggies that you will need a knife to cut down to bite size. I made the mistake of not asking the prices when I ordered by phone relying on the online menu and came out with $9 to $10 more that what I thought. I called the restaurant when my daughter came back with the food and told them they I was charged more than the prices I saw online and the lady said that they have gotten complaints of other people having the same problem but that she didn't know what to do.
