This meal was great! I think I set a personal best on how fast I could eat a burrito, it was so good I couldn't stop! If I lived up here I would come here every week... Only reason it's 4 stars is because my chips and salsa remained empty the entire meal, which is a shame because there chips and salsa are da bomb! (Especially if you like spicy salsa.) Chips and Salsa were both fresh. Salsa is very spicy, so consider that before you dive in without a drink available. I love the salsa, but it would be too spicy for my family. For my entree, I chose the Super Vallarta, which was good, but the taquitos were a little greasy. Service was fast and friendly. read more

Barely edible. Ordered takeout for lunch at work, a chimichanga and horchata for $14. I got a cold mess of soggy tortilla and wet lettuce plopped in an aluminum pie plate--the presentation had all the appeal of dog food. The horchata was thin and bland. My colleagues had even worse luck--the one who got nachos couldn't even eat it, and the one who got tacos had cold meat in a cold tortilla with nothing on it. Their salsa is THE BEST. I usually don't like restaurant salsa because they are flavorless and watered down but this one was so fresh, lots of cilantro and it had a kick. They are currently decked out with valentine's day decor. Like, hundreds of hearts and pink and red items alllllll over the place. Surprisingly, it works. It's really fun and makes me want to come back to drink margaritas on the 14. I ordered the chimichangas. Very very good. The staff was friendly and i think the manager/owner checked on us and asked how everything was. He was super friendly as well! Another great meal at El Rodeo. Such friendly people there! We each had 3 carne asada corn tacos with pico de gallo. They don't come with cheese or lettuce so we ordered those on the tacos. We weren't charged extra for them. The tacos also come with sides of refried beans and rice. All for $8.99, a good deal. Oh and the margheritas are nice and strong. read more

It was alright. We have had better and worse, but we would go back sometimes. I would give it 3.5 stars I ordered the chicken chilaquiles which came out looking sooooooo good. It came either rice and beans, and were chips covered in a ranchero sauce, shredded chicken, raw onion, raw green pepper, diced tomato, and a little cheese. A lot of food and even after eating a lot and what seemed like forever, I had hardly made a dent. It was pretty good, but the chicken definitely needed seasoning, it tasted watery-like out of a can? He got the #15: burrito and taco with sides of rice and beans. He really enjoyed it, but said the sauce on the burrito tasted more like a pasta sauce and not a traditional Mexican red sauce. Also he ordered all chicken, but the taco came out with beef. The waiter never came back to our table, which meant he could t get it fixed, so he was unable to eat the taco. This is a fantastic Mexican restaurant! This is one of my family's favorite Mexican places to go in the area so I frequent this place quite a bit. The food is great, the portions large, and it's fairly priced. The atmosphere is fun, pretty similar to a lot of Mexican restaurants in the area. I have never had any problems with the service, they check on you often and are never afraid to top off your chips and salsa. The thing that will you bring you back is definitely the food, so please give this place a try! Also, on a side note, this location burnt down a few years ago but was rebuilt and is just as popular as ever. If that doesn't tell you anything about the quality of this restaurant, I don't know what will! read more

This was a very good restaurant. The waitress was very fast and kind. It was late lunch so we got our food quickly. The portions were good for lunch not a ton but not a small amount. The beans were very good, fajitas were also good I think we could have gotten more meat for what we paid but still pretty good. Best Mexican food we have enjoyed in a long time. Some​ of our​favorites have gone out of business. Just in the area and decided to try it on a Thursday night. The place​ was packed. Ordered bar margaritas to just see how good they were. We are worn out on all the types and upgrades you have to order to get a good Marg. They were good flavor and plenty of tequila. Upgrades were not necessary. We ordered the queso with beef. Really good with chips. We both ordered enchiladas​ and ended up bringing some home. They were all so good but the appetizer was very filling. The waiter​ was great. He got the Colts​ game on the tv's and lots of people started clapping. He was a big help and very observant to all our needs. What a nice surprise this place was for us! Oh, yes, we will be back. Reasonable and enough food for lunch the next day! read more

One of the few Mexican food options in the Zionsville/West Carmel area. Personally, I love El Rodeo. There is never a wait. The service is quick.Parking is rarely an issue. I usually stick with the chicken fajitas or the shrimp taco salad. Their margaritas are delicious as well. A couple can get out around $30 or so. I recommend getting the queso. I cannot believe I have never Yelped this place. It is seriously my FAVORIT-O Mexican restaurant in Indy....it was so sad when it burnt to the ground. But it is BACK and better than ever! I cannot believe how beautiful, fun and updated it is. It's twice the size and the bar is incredible! I was so blown away at my visit this week. I took my Beach Bum team in for lunch and we all had wonderful authentic fresh meals that came out faster than ever. The cheese dip is awesome, the fajita chicken salad is my favorite with juuuuuui-say chunks of chicken and not too greasy. I love the large glasses that they refill endlessly and the staff is always great. Rafael the owner is so honest and helpful, friendly and excited about his business. Don't use a credit card here. I observed a man paying for his take out order with a credit card when he received his food. A woman wearing an El Rodeo shirt by the stand asked me if I wanted to pay in advance for my food, so I said yes because it seemed more convenient for me. She walked away with my card (the other guy paid at the stand). I didn't think anything of it until my card company called me the next day asking if the $90 charge at a mall in Ohio was legit. It wasn't. I normally don't use my "check card" frequently, and it's extremely rare for the card to be out of my sight, so this place is on my very short list of scammers that had access to my card during that timeframe. read more

Have been going to the Carmel El Rodeo for the last 5 years. And it's been consistently great. I have my favorite dishes that I order over and over I can think of just one time, out of dozens when I felt like my meal was not up to snuff. It's great to go to a place where you can count on getting exactly what you expect in terms of quality and quantity. Also, the food comes out FAST! Which is great when you're visiting with a couple of squirrely, hungry, young kids. All the servers are super friendly and attentive - the chips and salsa come out before you even have a chance to open your menu. Favorites off the menu: Great guacamole and I love their shrimp tacos and the seafood burrito. read more

We have been going here for years now! I have known Rafael since I was in High School. He runs a clean, efficient facility. The service is top notch. The queso is the best around. The margaritas are strong and the beer is COLD! I like pretty much everything here. For salads, I like the Cozumel Salad. It has shrimp, avacado, onions, tomatoes, and lettuce. No dressing; you don't need it. The Pollo Toluca is another favorite with chicken and chorizo with queso on top and a side of rice and beans. They are great with kids and do a great little gift for kids birthdays! You will love this place! They have A LOT of regulars! Lunch prices are cheaper than dinner. The cost can get up there at dinner; but you get what you pay for... in a good way! read more

I will NEVER come to this location again. The food was great as was our server. I met my husband there with my 2 year old and 5 month old baby. My husband had to get back to work so I agreed to stay and pay the bill. I was standing at the front with both of my kids waiting for someone so I could pay. After a few minutes a server saw me and started walking up. At the same time a family walked in. Rather than helping me he sat the family. I waited another few minutes for him to come back and check me out He asked me how everything was and I said I was disappointed that he would let me stand there with 2 small children while he sat the party that had walked in long after I had been standing there waiting. We have been visiting this location for years, but haven't been for a while, so it needed another look. I would have to recommend the chorizo tacos. It's a cheap Mexican restaurant, so my expectations are set for that. Overall, they seem to make any adjustments you need, and makes for good takeout. The portions are normal, my 4&6 year old can share two enchiladas while I can finish the whole entire while sharing with my 2 year old. The take out containers are metal, so you can just reheat them in the over without the lids! I will do takeout from here more often. read more

I ordered the Chimichanga and told him no sauces ...but it came with red sauce that I didn't think tasted good...so I asked for it differently and our server was very compliant. And since I really don't like veggies in my chimichangas...he suggested ground beef. Good idea!!! It was good! My partner had an enchilada and a burrito. We've been coming here for 10 years if not more and the quality of food has declined as prices have risen. We only go if we're craving Mexican, but I always feel like we pay $20 too much. The wait staff is and always has been consistently friendly and helpful. That alone is responsible for the third star. I fully admit maybe we just got tired of this establishment. Enough said?! This is one of the best margaritas I've had. It's not swimming in sweet and sour. Usually margaritas are far too sweet for my taste. This one is perfection. This is probably my favorite El Rodeo location. The restaurant is nice and brightly decorated. I am really pleased that they re-opened. The food is good and reasonably priced and the service is always friendly. I could really live without the hostess spraying perfume in the entry way. It gives me a headache and I want to smell the yummy smelling Mexican food. I will also have to agree with poster Clay W. that the Cozumel salad really good. read more

Service was speedy and extremely courteous. I ordered the Nachos Carbon which I didn't really care for. The chips were a bit stale and soggy from drowning in the abundance of queso put on it. This has become our go-to Mexican place since moving to Carmel, even though there are others closer to our home. We love the queso! I keep coming back to the Texana Mexicana, a cheesy rice with beef, chicken and shrimp. I haven't seen this anywhere else. They have a similar dish with tilapia. I was born and raised in Southern California and moved out here literally less than a week ago. I was taken out for lunch for my first day of work. I walked in to a full house. The basket of chips they serve at the start of your meal is HUGE, and the salsa was awesome. I know they charge for another basket/mini molcajete of salsa, but it's plenty of Chips (and you'll spoil your full meal!) I ordered the Chile Relleno & Taco lunch plate. The one thing that was a nice surprise was the beef in the Chile Relleno. I know this is traditional, but I usually find just cheese in places back home. The Chile was the right kind of spicy. The Taco was very "gringo" even as far as the taco shell went (yellow!) but it was covered in freshly grated cheese. It was still really good. The rice and beans were some of the best kind I've had. I was married to a Mexican and his mother's rice and beans were great (& I was lucky enough to learn to make both) but I loved the texture of the rice served here. It seems most Yelpers around here come to complain instead of leaving a nice review? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I say, definitely come to visit this spot. The waiters were so friendly and attentive.
