    Menu & prices (Sept 2025)
    Nayoun K.

Tried two burritos and they were both great - the California breakfast and the surf & turf. Great proportion of meat in both, good flavor, tortilla was solid. They have 4 salsas: green, red, roasty dark, and a light orange which seems to be blended habanero. Love the last one to just add heat, but all the salsas packed flavor. The menu looks really interesting, with unique options like chile verde fries which I haven't seen before. Looking forward to going back, seems like a really local neighborhood spot.

My friend brought back some beef taquitos for lunch at home. They were good! Salsa was flavorful.

The food was filling and really good! I like the tostada's crunch and the flavor of the ceviche. Service was fast and I liked the environment depicting an accurate representation on Mexican restaurants.

    Taco Tuesday special menu

Saw the flags flying for taco Tuesday and happily relinquished my cooking duties at $1.99 a taco. Got 4 each the al pastor, carne asada, carnitas and potato tacos. Would like more of a char on the meats but all were well seasoned and tasty. Fair warning it's got a usual Tuesday following and quickly filled up. Thank you for the night off!

My coworker enjoyed his huevos rancheros. I got a quesabirria and fish tacos. I did not enjoy my food. The quesabirria meat tasted like boiled pot roast and lacked essential flavors. The service was okay. I always expect hole-in-the-wall places to be the best, but it just wasn't flavorful enough. Maybe it was an off day.

    San Diego burrito

Through my time of eating burritos in LA... I would have to say this place tops it all. I just found my favorite spot to eat. The meat was so tender and crispy at the same time, they didn't skimp on anything this burrito is packed with meat and the flavor is fire. I was getting flowers at the spot across the way and decided to try it out and they did not miss, It only took 10 min to make and the lady was super nice and she spoke Spanish and English. i definitely recommend if your in the area.

yummy burritos and free chips if you dine in. the chips are made fresh and they're DELISH!!! prices are good too.

    Al Pastor Taco

Adobada both crispy and moist! Very tasty taco with limes, onion, guac, mild green sauce and spicy habanero sauce. Highly recommend on them on taco Tuesday's too! Hidden gem in allied gardens local area. Don't miss it

A close-up of the Chicken Burrito. Notice the colors. According to the menu it wasn't even supposed to have Pico de Gallo in it.

Disgusting! I ordered a Shredded Beef Chimichanga and a Chicken Burrito to go. All the food was old. I had to spit out the first bite of the Chicken Burrito because it was all fat and gristle, the Pico de Gallo was so old I could not eat it and as the Burrito was soaked in it. I had to throw it away it was so nasty. The Chimichanga was only a little better, so my wife was able to eat about a third. All the food tasted old, the meat, the Gucamole, The Chile, even the oil they cook with. In addition, all the prices on the yelp site and their website are wrong. No problem though, I will never enter this place again. They should be ashamed of themselves! After writing this review I called El Rodeo Taco Shop to let them know about the quality of their food and the fact they may be getting people sick. The woman who answered the phone did not care.

    Fish taco combo

So stoked. I just landed back in San Diego and this was my first taco shop I stopped at after being deprived of quality tacos for six months. They did not disappoint. And aunty at the counter was so sweet! I got the fish taco combo, fries, and guac. Everything is incredibly flavorful. I've missed this so much. Also I usually go for green salsa but the red is so smoky, definitely my favorite.

    Rolled tacos

These were, and I do not say this lightly, the most incredible rolled tacos I've ever had. And I've had a LOT of rolled tacos. But it does not end there. Suzie provided the most decadent experience ever experienced at a strip mall Mexican joint. 10/10 would eat again.

Super dark and I mean dark, it'll take a minute for your eyes to adjust. Tapas style menu, we were a party of 4 and ordered: Squash blossom Relleno - it's the flower part of a squash plant and stuffed with mushroom duxelles which resembles a meat mixture with squash succotash. Outside is a corn tempura with a tomato base sauce. Pulpo-grilled octopus, one of the best texture and perfectly grilled skin with a chewy yet soft interior. The sauce has a slight kick and crunch from the corn nuts. Crab corn doughnut- this is their specialty and we were about to skip out but glad we didn't. The brioche bun had a donut batter with lumps of crab salad and corn mixture on top. El Festin- perfect for our party of 4 because it was a platter full of 4 Cheese quesadilla, 4 shrimp, 4 chicken slices, 1 jalapeño bacon wrap, ribeye. Flan-we should have each ordered one ourselves! Great flavors and texture, the top had ancient chocolate soil and had crispy corn nuts. Different but yummy. Overall, delicious food that came out so quick, great ambiance, we celebrated our birthdays and were each gifted candles with our names on the label. Truly amazing from beginning to end. Super small, they don't use half of the restaurant during weekdays to make it seem more full. After $260 of a tab, we were kicked off of our table (at 8:30, 1.5 hours after getting there) for another reservation directly after paying the tab. I needed to wait for my uber outside. California Burritos is very apt for their name, my bf rates it a 10/10. As a California Burrito connoisseur, he liked the addition of sour cream in it and said the flavors were delicious. He topped it with their green salsa for a little bit of a freshness to cut through the richness and fattiness of the meat and fries in the burrito. He didn't care for the fish taco that much and rated it a 4/10 but said the restaurant overall was a 10/10, as he thought there was too much lettuce and tomato throwing off the ratio of the taco.
