This place used to be on Lincoln Street and it was so much better when they were there. The food quality has gone down just a little. The food still taste good but now that they have a bigger place service has gone downhill. I always order takeout because if you eat in your waitress just brings you the food and forgets about you. Even trying to get their attention will not work unless you actually go up to her and tap her on the shoulders. You have to ask for napkins, forks, spoons, I always thought this was common sense to bring a spoon a fork and knife to the table, napkins. Even though the food is good - probably an 8 out of 10 - the service is a zero - horrible!!!! Not only is the wait extremely long, the service is horrendous. No matter how good the food is it can not convince me enough to go back if i have to deal with another rude person. Oo and who stops delivering at 5pm, wouldn't you think people would order just as much. I guess they are not interested in making more business and stay as a mediocre restaurant. The food tastes good to a Hispanic tongue. However, 99% of items on the menu include fried foods. There aren't healthy alternatives. A lot of the items also lack variability. We order from them at least twice a month, they stop delivery at 5:00pm so you better make up your mind fast. I ordered food for my wife and daughter, I had the oxtails and red beans and yellow rice, my wife had the steak and onions and yellow rice and beans, my daughter had the shrimp with yellow rice and beans. I took one of my very close mexican friends here, and we both got the mole. She's the type of person that ONLY likes her mother's cooking and I'm pretty much the same way. Her mom is the only one I would trust with mole... BUT we took a chance and let me tell you, It was WORTH IT!. The pricing was great and it was phenomenal. Ate here once, and I must say, it is a fairly decent place. The arroz con pollo, a meal that is most common at Spanish places, was delicious. The chicken was nicely cooked and had a wonderful taste. I would give this place five stars. However, ever since they moved from the hut they had on Lincoln to Central Avenue. They have the worse I mean the worse customer service. The Owner or Partner Alicia is now to good to speak with her customers on the phone. Every time I choose to eat from this place is always a dilemma. One day they have delivery the next day they don't. One day is okay to deliver the next day is too far. One day they take credit card orders over the phone the next day they don't. They put you on hold to take the order of people that are walking in like there isn't other staff members there to do so. I am honestly fed up with this place. Worst service ever!!! My family and I have been loyal customers since they opened. Brenda was the best waitress they ever had. She was always very attentive and friendly. Since she left, the table service has not been the same. Today topped the cake. The girl who served us (can't provide her name because she never told us) was horrible! She got the order right (party of 7) with only forgetting one drink. Once we got our food, she never came back. A couple times we had to get the attention of other waiters for what we needed. We ordered some additional alcappurias in which she stated she wasn't sure if they could make them because they close at 8:30pm but she would put our order in if they can as it was only 7pm. She not once came back to our table. My husband went up to approach her as she was just packing to go orders rather than attending her tables. She told him that she forgot to put our order in and that now there was only one left as there were other tables who also requested some. She didn't even apologize. We asked for the one that they had left and a different waitress walked it over. Finally, 10 min later she comes to our table to clear the plates never saying one word to us and leaves again to continue preparing and packing to go orders. I had to flag a different waitress down and ask her to please send our waitress over as she hasn't been to our table to ask if we needed anything else. We watched her tell the waitress and they whispered for a bit and 10 min later, we are still waiting. My sister went over and approached her to question when she was coming to our table as we now wanted our check. She with a very nasty attitude responded "did you ask for it?" Isn't it there job to come to the table and ask if we need anything else? At which we'd then ask for our check!! This person never came to our table to even check on us. Now I see her talking to the owner who never leaves the register so I approached my waitress and went off on her and told her how nasty she was to my sister, how she never came to check on us once and how she even forgot to put our 2nd order in. The owner never even looked at me and was just ringing our order on the register. Then she tells me the amount owed without even giving me the check so I can review it. I will never go back there again and will not recommend this place to anyone as the service is terrible to the owner doesn't care what goes on in the floor but what goes into the register!!! read more

Want traditional Puerto Rican food. This is the place to go. Flavors that are authentic to Puerto Rican cuisine. The escabeche con guineo was amazing. A dish I had long ago not eaten. It brought memories of my mom whom was the best cook ever. Sabroso came very very close to her cooking. Everthing I ordered was what I expected and even more. I've tried it once just to break the routine and sat down for lunch. My impression was, I dont get the "ambiance" it was trying to project. Lights are dim but the whole front wall (entrance) is transparent glass. So at lunch time, the glare of sunlight outside and the recessed lightning inside is just awful. At least put some blinds or something. They also have a big-ass electric fan inside and it was so noisy. it was a big WTF for me. I really hated that part. Customer service: the lady doesnt speak english so we had trouble communicating. We asked if they serve any bread while we wait but nobody knows what to do and couldnt even tell us yes or no. A guy went over to clarify and so we explained. I thought he understood but never came back *shrugs*. I guess PioPio spoiled us too much. So the food came back. I ordered beef steak. big serving. nothing special. I guess it was good but nothing special. When we came out of the restaurant we all smelled like Kitchen. Absolutely amazing puerto rican style food! Large healthy portions at reasonable prices. The only drawback is, don't eat here if you have anything to do afterwards. My son and I love picking up baked chicken with yellow rice and beans. It is a great deal for the price, tasty and feeds two. The one negative is that the last time we were there we were totally ignored by the counter person in favor of a group of Spanish customers who were behind us in line. This place is PHENOMENAL. I'm from Dallas, and you will not find an establishment like this in Texas. I truly appreciate it. My husband, son, and I were in town visiting his family for the holidays, and I was dying for some spanish food. Instead of going to grandmas, his family recommended this place. I was kind of worried, because the restaraunt closes at 8p and we got in there at 7:15p. But, we were welcomed in warmly and shown to a table by a sweet older lady. You could definately tell it was family owned and run. A younger lady was hanging Christmas decorations around the eating area, and her young son was playing around the floor. He started playing with my son a bit. It felt like we were at grandma's house! We first got an order of tostones...MMMMMM! They were perfect, I could have made a meal out of them alone. My husband and I both got the Bistec, and my son had the baked chicken. My son ate the entire plate, which is a lot for a 4 year old. But, Oh...My...Goodness...this was the BEST bistec encebollado I have EVER had. Even though it was closing time, the rice tasted fresh. And the bistec Amazing, really.
