One random adventure morning took me here to find all that you can in burrito form that is and what did I get all wrapped up? Pure goodness! So I just went with a breakfast burrito it had steak, eggs, cilantro, onions, salsa, and cheese and honestly it didn't need anything else except some of their yummy salsa to make it just that much better as this burrito was very yummy and definitely one of the better breakfast burritos I've found outside of California. Overall it was a quick fast yummy flavorful breakfast burrito to fuel some much needed activity who knows when or if I'll get here again but if I lived in the area I'd totally come back for this or to try something else! read more

The food at El Taco Véloz was okay. I was craving a quesadilla and stopped by on a Sunday night. The pork and beef meat looks oddly similar. Service was quick through the drive through; about 10 minutes. I had the beef quesadilla. It was just okay... nothing remarkable but nothing bad about it. It was mainly meat, a little cheese and tortilla; not much flavor. I accidentally tasted my partner's pork quesadilla and couldn't tell the difference. The sauces on the side are very small; therefore, if you're a sauce person like me, ask for extra. We did not go inside. read more

El Taco Veloz II is the place to go for breakfast, by far! Everything is made fresh to order, so make sure to be patience for your food as it's well worth the few minutes wait to get the freshly made food. They open at 7am, and I'm there at least once a week right at 7am. I get the Burrito Huevo y Chorizo (Chorizo Breakfast Burrito with Everything) and it's off the charts every time I go. They are so consistent. Claudia L. remembers my standard order everytime she sees me pull up in any one of my cars, she is the best. She is the nicest friendliest person always with a smile, which is amazing knowing she's there probably at 6am every day to prep for 7am opening. They have a ton of specialty items as well you won't find at many comparable places, and they are very honest and upfront with their pricing, with signs put up when they have to adjust slightly pricing due to market conditions, such as with their Lengua. Considering I've been going for 4 years and they have been consistent every time, it's a very trustworthy place, and they also always have great scores on their inspections, typically high 90s to even 100. read more

This is literally the worst Mexican food I've ever had. I ordered a burrito and queso. I live just a mile away and got home in five minute. The queso was ice cold and the burrito was cold and soggy. On top of it, the only things seasoned were the sauces in little thumb-sized cups they included. They didn't have to go menus, which was weird. I was on my way to Chipotle but saw this place and decided to try authentic. I should have kept driving. To put this in context, Taco Bell is better seasoned. The Carne Asada tacos are the bomb. It so so hot though but the flavor just captures you and makes you want to do the Pee Wee Herman dance. Don't ask! Anyway, they are slow as it is cooked once ordered, all fresh ingredients and the horchata is a good way to drown some of they burning sensation on your lips and tongue. Looking for something different for lunch, we stopped at El Taco Veloz for a quick and cheap option. There are multiple locations on Buford Highway, but I was surprised to see one in this area. It seems brighter in this location... or maybe because I actually came here spring the day. I got my usual - two tacos, asada and al pastor. I was also feeling some rice and beans. And some horchata because why not. The tortilla was a little soggy, but that's probably from the steam in the foil. Each taco was individually wrapped in tin foil. The meat wasn't super memorable but I had no complaints. The rice and beans were fine, and the horchata was a little sweet. Overall, I think I may stick to El Taco Veloz for my late night cravings versus eating it in sober daytime. read more

After coming here many times to enjoy their delicious Mexican fare, I hadn't realized that I've never written a Yelp review for El Taco Veloz. Well, here goes ... We came here for an early dinner yesterday, taking about ten minutes to drive here from home. We got here at about 5:15 pm, and I thought that it was closed because there weren't any cars in the regular parking spaces. After circling around the building, it was pretty apparent that the restaurant was open, but didn't have any customers at the time. El Taco Veloz has its own free parking lot surrounding the restaurant, and there's probably enough parking for everyone. They also have a drive thru window as an option, instead of walking inside. The employees are usually nice, although there may be employees who don't fully understand English. The inside of the restaurant was renovated during the pandemic, and it looks nicer and cleaner; not absolutely clean, but certainly cleaner than last year. Booths still line the inside along the windows, but nice tables and chairs are in the middle of the dining area. There is an outside patio on the Roswell Road side of the restaurant. Lots of windows allow natural light to stream inside. The order counter still looks cluttered, and the employees at the register are separated from customers by clear plexiglass panels. The older menu boards were replaced by TV monitors. Although the monitors look much nicer, the unsightly electrical cords and cables look a mess just above the pass through food window between the kitchen and the order counter. Monitors in the dining area still play Mexican cable programs for its customers. Customers order at the counter and the employees call out to the customers that their food is ready at the counter. For employees dining in, there is a salsa bar (that needed some cleaning) to the side of the front counter, where there were three different sauces (1 red and 2 different types of green), cilantro and onions. If you want anything else, including jalapenos and napkins, you have to ask the employees. R ordered a super carnitas burrito that included the carnitas, rice, beans, onion, cilantro and sauce. R asked for some jalapenos, which they gave him, and that added to his good tasting burrito. The burrito was stuffed with a good amount of fresh ingredients. The carnitas are very good here. I ordered the flautas plate. This plate had 4 chicken taquitos made with corn tortillas that were fried to a crispy crunchy doneness and heavily drizzled with queso. The chicken inside was not dry. I dunked the taquitos in small cups of red hot sauce, and the sauce was oh so good and sinus clearing. The plate also came with rice and beans (with cheese on top), and a salad with lettuce, onions, tomato and avocado slices. My meal was so good! We both had the horchata to drink, and it had just the right level of sweetness to it. The menu features a whole lot more dishes than what we had, such as tacos, tortas, nachos, breaded fish and shrimp, steak, enchiladas, desserts, quesadillas and breakfasts. Came here last night for dinner and it's a small, no-frills place which also has a drive-thru as well to get your fix! Upon walking in there's a little salsa and topping bar for your taco. They had a verde salsa, a red salsa, and a creamy green sauce along with your cilantro, lime, and white onions. When I came, the bar was all out of cilantro. Like other reviews have said, the staff here are not fluent in English and you order off the menu. My partner tried to ask a question about the enchiladas and the staff was unsure what he was saying. Know what you want going in! I ordered the beef tongue taco ($3.50), carne asada taco ($3.50), and the chile relleno taco ($3.50). The beef tongue taco was melt in your mouth and so tender! The carne asada taco had huge chunks of well seasoned steak and with a squeeze of lime and onions on top it really hit the spot. The chile relleno was a big big miss for me, but maybe I just couldn't get over the texture of all of it together. I did eat all of these tacos in-store after ordering them and the two corn tortillas each taco had were pretty soggy and structural integrity was iffy. My partner ordered the Enchiladas ($8.49) and said they were 'good,' but the enchiladas could have done with more red sauce as the sides of the tortillas were rather crispy and dry. A friend also ordered the Pork Quesadilla ($7.99) and enjoyed her meal. I'm used to the Buford Hwy location. This location is a lot nicer, and there's a sauce bar too. The tacos are the hubs' and I's first choice. Though they're roughly on the small end, it's double wrapped in a corn tortilla. Get about 3 to 4 tacos; that amount should fill you. Their prices range from $1.99 to $2.50 per taco depending on the meat you're getting. The tacos come with onion, cilantro, and green sauce. Some of our favs are the beef tongue and intestine. I have the beef tongue and grilled season pork pictured so you can get an idea of the size -- should have opened up the tacos. At the other location, I've had their burrito, and it's quite filling. Their quesadilla is filling too. But, the tacos are the way to go if you want something smaller. It's sort of a sampling of their various meats. They have their own parking lot so no worries there. So I had a coworker tell me about El Taco velez. I liked it a simple no frills place. I had 3 seasoned pork taco,2 tamales and a mexican coke Taco's..yes they were small but had lots of seasoned pork cilantro and onion,just like authentic tacos should have Tamales. They were suppose to be pork,but I think 1 was chicken. I was a little disappointed because the first bite on both seemed to be a bit dry. They over all seemed to be a bit dry. However still very tastee Mexican coke what's not to love about that. A mexican Coke with its higher concentration of sugar is always better. This whole meal ran about $15. Taco Veloz is just comfort food for me. It is a small chain in Atlanta and surrounding that just nails their little corner of the market every single day. Tacos, beans, burritos and guacamole (if they have it) are just past amazing. You can eat in some of the places but we usually swoop in, grab it and go home. We live about 15 minutes from any of the ones that we go to - Buford Highway, right off Buford Highway or Piedmont road- and the food is always hot and perfect when we get it home. If you're at one of the TV that has the salsa bar you have to try the green avocado salsa, it is LIFE! Creamy, spicy and delicious, this is what taco dreams are made of! I LOVE TACO VELOZ! read more

OMG I LOVE TACOS. Their tacos are soooooo delcious. It tastes so authentic. They have so many meat options to choose from. I got an order of 3 carnitas tacos, 3 asada tacos, and an order of churros. They are cooked fresh and full of flavor. If you get it to go, they do not put onion and cilantro on it for you. I really love the sauce bar. The service is friendly and quick. This is El Taco Veloz 2. At least that's what the receipt says. Roswell Rd. El Taco Veloz is conveniently located just south of the I-285 exit. The parking lot is a mess. It looks like a war zone. I almost recommend having an SUV with 4-wheel drive to navigate the restaurant's uneven pot-hole-filled lot. Drive slowly. This location is the blue-collar El Taco Veloz, at least during lunchtime. I saw all sorts of work crews stop in for lunch wearing their company-branded shirts. Painters, landscapers, kitchen remodelers, roofers, and a construction group all in one sitting! I guess it makes sense since I believe the immediate area used to be a pickup point for contractors looking for manual labor. As such, this restaurant can get dirty, especially during a busy lunch hour when the staff doesn't have time to leave the counter or kitchen and wipe off tables and seats, mop the floors, and clean the restrooms. A lot of the workers with their muddy boots can drag in a lot of dirt. The entire floor in the tiny men's room was covered in murky water. Cleanliness aside, the food at this place is alright. It's authentic Mexican eats and it's affordable. Tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, tortas (Mexican sandwiches), and more. There is a lot to choose from, which is one reason I like this Atlanta chain. Examples of pricing include tacos at $1.69 each and burritos and tortas around $5.00 each. They also serve breakfast, plates, and an assortment of specials. You won't find anything over $10. They have a 3 taco plate special for $6.82. You can choose from 8 different types of tacos. The tacos are served by default in two-layer flour tortillas. You can request corn too. The plate also comes with orange rice, beans (with a little bit of melted cheese), and a red jalapeno pepper. The rice and beans aren't very impressive, but really not much to expect there. I tried the carne asada (charbroiled steak), barbacoa (soft shredded pork), and pollo (chicken) tacos. I thought the carne asada and barbacoa were both good. Well-seasoned, so the meats were tasty. The chicken wasn't bad either. It was tender, but could have had more flavor. Salsa was a must on the tacos. The self-serve salsa bar has 3 different kinds of salsa, chopped onion, minced cilantro, and whole green jalapenos. The green jalapenos were cold and were prepared so they weren't spicy anymore. The red jalapenos (served on some plates) look like they're similarly prepared to the green ones, but they are spicy. The salsa varieties included 2 green (one spicy, one non-spicy), and one thick red salsa. I've also tried one of the specials here: the $7.99 "Mojarra Frita." This is a plate with a whole tilapia that has been deep-fried. The tilapia is served on top of French fries with a small salad (shredded lettuce, slice of tomato, slice of avocado), orange rice, and some tortilla shells (if you want to make tacos out of it). If you're looking for something easy to eat, do not order this. It takes a while to pick at all the small bones. I thought it was pretty tasty and there was some good meat to be had on the fish. The fish was crispy and not too greasy, which I appreciated. The fries were very plain. Since this was a special order, it took a longer for it to come out. Foods are served on Styrofoam plates, drinks in Styrofoam cups, and all silverware is disposable and made of cheap plastic (very bendable). Each piece of silverware is individually wrapped. The tilapia in my Mojarra Frita actually burned a hole through my plate! Well, I guess they have to keep costs low somehow. While I have no issues with the food here, I do think this restaurant could be cleaner. You can watch Latino TV channels on the two small TVs in here. I'm going to say this in the best possible way. This place is garbage. This is an authentic cheap Mexican restaurant and is easily the most organic, authentic Mexican experience you will find in Atlanta. Ordered 2 Carne Asada Tacos, a Chicken Burrito, and some Rice and Beans. I did not, but should have washed this all down with a large horchata. Where as places like Taco Bell are trash "Mexican" fast food, El Taco Veloz is not that much more, but uses real food, real ingredients, made by people who know how to make cheap, fast Mexican food. As someone who spent 10 years living in Arizona, and then 2 and a half years needing a fix... all they're really missing is a Sonoran Hot Dog. read more

Also got the carne asada el special burrito which was ok. The tortillas were soggy and almost like paste (see photo) I threw my food away. I guess a lot can change after 2 years. I now go this Taco Veloz probably once a month. The food is great, even greater when you consider the price. My wife and I can usually get 6 tacos and a drink for under $20. The meats are tender and flavorful. I've had carnitas, pastor, carne asada, cameron, pescado, and even beef tongue. There's a small condiment bar that has some great sauces. I like the green one with a respectable amount of heat. I eat smaller meals nowadays, so 2 is usually going to be enough for me, but you may want a third, or a side of their thick cut chips and queso dip. Sadly I love the deal on tacos so much, I haven't had a chance to explore the rest of their menu. While it's not the most glamorous place, it certainly has the hole in the wall charm. I love it that I'm usually the only person not speaking Spanish inside. How's that for "authentic"? (you know, that thing foodies like to chase). PRO TIP: You can double dip on cash back by using Visa Local Offers from Uber, and combine with a cash back app called Dosh. It's not a lot, but you should usually get a combined 10% back or so if you link the same card to both. If only Yelp had cashback for this, then you could triple dip! read more

I was drawn to this place because I saw Anthony Bourdain eat at one of this taco Veloz places here in Atlanta. I dont think he ate at this specific one Taco Veloz #2. Unlike the name states, (The sleedy Taco) this is not a very speedy place, it took 30 minutes for 6 Tacos. Once the tacos arrived I can say the barbacoa tacos were great as well as the carnitas tacos. The adobada tacos need some work. I've had much better from less established taco places. I Moved to Atlanta from Los Angeles and up to date I have not found a taco place in the Atlanta area with that remind me of home taste. Certainly this is not the place. But if you don't know any better the food is pretty good. read more

This place is a solid 3.5. I've had their tacos and carne asada burrito. Some days, the meat is softer while on other days, it is tougher to chew. Flavors have been pretty good so far but I can tell my experience here will range depending on the day. I like the speedy service and drive thru option for a quick bite. They have a topping bar for the tacos for you to customize. Plus, they are open late compared to most places in sandy springs. Tacos are inexpensive ($2-3) and fairly simply in ingredients. The burritos are a great size for $8-9 and they have options for all meat or adding rice and beans. Service is friendly and to go orders are prepped nicely. read more

Love this place. They are the mexican version of Chick-Fil-A...You will never get a bad meal here, it's a solid go-to place for great food at a decent price. I usually hit the drive-thru on B-Hwy. It does get super busy sometimes, so watch for the line before you pull in. I tend to get stuck on something if I really like it, so my go-to for a while now has been the lengua tacos or burrito. You know what, sometimes, you really shouldnt snub hole-in-the-wall establishments, because you just might find a pleasant surprise. First and foremost, if you ever come here during lunch time, the vast majority of their patrons are mainly hispanics - now, that's how you know it's about to be real! Ive gotten the burrito and the whole fried fish plate and both items were SO delicious! Now, I will tell you that I dont understand the point of the fries with the fish plate - I wish they will just remove that and double up on the rice since the amount of rice they gave was hardly enough. Now, for the Burrito, it was super tasty, but I do wish that I didnt order the one with the tomatoes ... it made my burrito super soggy. The sauces - they have a little sauce cart by the register and every single one of them were just straight up delish. I highly recommend - now, if you cant handle spice, you may want to ask them which one to steer clear from. I also had chips and salsa and the queso dip. Loved every single bite. However, as generous as they were with the cheese, they were stingy with that fresh salsa. All in all, it was a good experience.
