This review is purely about their lunch buffet from a visit at 1:00pm three days before Christmas. A large sign above their door advertising their weekday lunch buffet from 11-2 caught our eye as we drove down Katella and we decided we'd try it. We remembered trying their Sunday brunch years ago and thought it was well done. In hindsight, we wish we didn't. The hostess was kind and said the buffet was $19.95 and sat us quickly in the bar area. Normally with buffets, they show you to your table and tell you to go ahead and start. We were told to sit and wait for it server. After five minutes of no one coming, we decided to get our first plates. The food selection was underwhelming, the selections were served in skillets on top of circled bricks with a sterno flame in the center. Most of the selections had little to no food left and people were waiting. There was an empty skillet of sweet corn, another empty skillet of enchilada sauce (no enchiladas left) and more skillets with frijoles, arroz, papas, chile Colorado, napales con papas, salads and desserts. There was a cauldron of pozole but no bowls or spoons in sight. They had a person making hand made tortillas and had similar skillets in front of them with asada, carnitas and pollo. The corn tortillas were unusually thick but they did a good job holding the carne. As we walked back with our selections and sat down, the waiter walked up and asked what we wanted to drink. I asked what's included and was quickly told, water. A little cold and he acted like he didn't want to be there. It seemed most of the servers did not want to be there because the lady who brought chips and salsa as well as the folks you asked about refilling the empty skillet were just as cold. So empty skillets, average food and unhappy staff. We each had a plate of tacos with beans and rice and a bowl of pozole (after asking for bowls and spoons) and decided we should leave the depressing restaurant. If you havent tried the All-You-Can Eat Buffett at El Torito you are missing out. Not many locations left thay offer this service but if ypi are around the Cypress, Los Alamitos area stop by and ask for Mario! Best waiter! He will have the mimosas coming. . They have a live mariachi that charges $20 bucks a song. Cant get better than that on a Sunday late morning after church. read more

Decide to drop in again in a Tuesday night for some happy hour dining in the cantina! Came in a little after 7pm and didn't wait even 5 minutes until I was helped, points there for speed of service. Music was at an enjoyable level with different games on the TVs and it wasn't that busy during my visit. My server Julian was very attentive and helpful, he made the dinner experience enjoyable. The flautas and birria tacos were hot and delicious! The flan was creamy and smooth. And what can I say about the margaritas other than divine, they all truly hit the spot. Went for quick bite in the cantina to try their new menu. Ordered the salmon. It was delicious. Moist and flakey, just as salmon should be. The presentation was mouth-watering. The highpoint was the exemplary service we got from our server, Jeremy. Hot chips and salsa were delivered upon sitting. Cocktails soon thereafter. Jeremy made an excellent recommendation on the salmon. After our meal arrived, Jeremy checked to ensure that our meal was more than satisfactory. Overall great service and meal. read more

I have been here for Sunday brunch a couple of times and it was ok till two years ago. Gave it another try on Tuesday. They had brunch, sat down and then, not one item looked appetizing. I served myself beans and rice to start. Could not eat beans, it was like biting garlic cloves. Rice was red but had absolutely no taste but salt. Took a bite of chicken with zucchini (not very Mex) it was discusting. I called manager, she asked if I wanted menu. I said absolutely not. I asked her what she thought about the meats. She said all was good but pork was a bit dry. Would not even put any of those meats or orange tortillas in mouth. Maybe the jello might have been ok Paid $10 for two sodas and $5 tip for waiter we never saw. Will NEVER return I give it a double yuck!! read more

Ambiance was good, the service was good ( the waiter worked very hard to help us). the food was good. my complaint is that I ordered three taco's, no cheese. the waiter knew and understood, but the cook never got the message. they made new taco's for me. the second complaint is the taco was very low amount of meat, both times. if you took all of the meat from all of the 3 taco's and put it in one taco shell, it still would be low in meat. the meat tasted good if you could taste it thru the lettuce and tomato. read more

I had the Strawberry Patron Citrus Cadillac Margarita and it was delicious, while my friend had the skinny margarita.
