From the onset, the service was astonishingly slow; it took a staggering 20 minutes just to receive two glasses of water, and that too after our meals had already been served. To add to our dismay, the glasses were not clean, visibly marred, which immediately dampened our spirits. The attention to detail didn't stop there--or rather, the lack thereof. The unique mixed drinks, one of the reasons we chose this establishment, were supposed to come with seasoned straws, an essential component of the experience, especially for my wife's selection. Unfortunately, they were nowhere to be found, rendering the drinks lackluster. Our anticipation for a warm, flavorful meal quickly dissipated as we were served food that was barely warm. The chicken and sour cream enchiladas, which we had heard good things about, turned out to be exceptionally bland, lacking in flavor and zest. Similarly, the chips failed to deliver even the most basic expectations of warmth and crunch, accompanied by a salsa that could only be described as a watery tomato slush, devoid of any spice or heat. Hoping to salvage the evening, we had also ordered the appetizer sampler, only to be met with further disappointment. The only redeemable item on the plate were the chicken wings, of which there were merely four. The rest of the sampler was as underwhelming as the rest of our meal. Our Friday night at El Torito was not just a letdown; it was a series of missed opportunities by the establishment to provide a pleasant dining experience. I had the best time at the Sunday Mexican buffet at El torito --it was absolutely worth every bite! The variety was incredible, with so many options to choose from. Whether you're craving tacos, enchiladas, tamales, or sizzling fajitas, they had it all, and everything was freshly made. What stood out the most was the quality of the ingredients. The tortillas were fresh as they hand grill them to order right Infront of you, the meats were tender, and the salsas were perfectly spiced. I loved the omelette bar--it had the perfect mix of fluffy eggs and cheese and just the right size to try. And the toppings were endless, so I could customize my plate every time. Our server, Andrew, was fantastic--so personable, always checking in to make sure we had everything we wanted, and made the experience even more enjoyable with their warm, welcoming attitude The best part was definitely the all-you-can-eat aspect. I never felt rushed, and the staff was super friendly and attentive, ensuring the buffet stayed fully stocked and that we had everything we needed. I hadn't been to a Mexican restaurant for quite some time, but their Happy Hour was a pleasant surprise beginning at 3 and lasting until closing time. Surprisingly, there were very few customers--maybe around 10 at most--but it was still early for more to arrive. Feeling hungry, I ordered the papas calientes (fries) and four mini tacos, consisting of steak and chorizo, all for $6. As is common in most Mexican restaurants, they served complimentary tortilla chips and salsa. Antonia, our waitress, was exceptional, offering attentive service. The meals arrived promptly within 15 minutes. I also ordered a margarita with blended strawberry for $6. Unfortunately, I accidentally spilled my drink, but Antonia kindly replaced it at no additional charge. The fries were delightfully crispy, with a generous portion and accompanied by a side of ranch sauce. The tacos were delicious, and the margarita complemented the meal perfectly. I'll definitely return for Happy Hour--worth every penny. The place features several large plasma TVs for sports enthusiasts and a full-size bar located at the center. Finally I got the time to write this review. El Torito used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant in Milpitas. I should give 5 stars. But this time I only give 3.5 stars. Why? Keep reading. Environment: A lot people were staying late here and chatting when I went. The tables were not cleaned on time. I saw trash on tables and floors. Chips crumbles and used napkins were not cleaned on time. They usually clean their table very fast. Environment is very important for me to have a good experience when dine out. Service: I asked for a margarita and it took awhile to be ready. I understand they were busy. But I would be happier if they could tell me ' your drink will take 10 mins to be ready' ahead and I'll be more patient. I don't want to keep checking when my order will be ready with them as well. No one does. Food: The food: good as it used to be. So I give 5 stars to their food. Very delicious and tasty! Still highly recommend you also try their chicken taco salad, tequilas. Perfect for a relaxing weekend ! I still like this place. Just some suggestions and I hope they will improve eventually. read more

We recently hosted a 70th birthday brunch here and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. We arrived early to decorate, but the reserved space was still occupied by other guests. By the time we were allowed in, there was no time to set up properly and everything felt rushed. The seating was extremely cramped--our group couldn't fit comfortably and people had to keep moving around just to make space. The layout made it difficult to access the food bar, especially with three guests in wheelchairs who struggled to move around due to the lack of accessibility. This was very frustrating and should be better accommodated. On top of that, we were told we'd be charged an extra $150 if we stayed longer, despite already paying $50 per person. This added pressure and made the celebration feel rushed. The birthday guest ended up exhausted instead of enjoying her special day. Overall, the food was okay, but the poor organization, tight layout, and lack of accessibility made this a negative experience. I wouldn't recommend hosting an event here unless improvements are made. read more

I love to eat at "El Torito" Restaurant, for its great customer service, good food and low prices. First of all, I love the customer service. I feel very welcomed because the servers are friendly. Second, the food is delicious. For example, I like the guacamole that's made at my table. Another favorite is the Aztec soup that is made with fried corn tortillas, sour cream, Swiss cheese, and little pieces of dried jalapeno on the top. In addition, one of the best desserts is arroz con leche, which is pudding made of rice cooked with milk, sugar and cinnamon; it is very creamy and exquisitely sweet. Every time I go there I ask to be served by Melissa because she is nice. Finally, the best part of all is prices, especially for appetizers and drinks. The most surprising is that this place is cheap and I would never have suspected such quality food. The staff is very nice and the decoration feels like being on a vacation in Mexico. Now I'm by no means a mexican food expert. However I really had some very good food (and drinks) at this place. If you're going to drink a Margarita, then just go for the Cadillac Margarita, so good that you may easily abuse it ;) I also strongly advise the soup. The food quality varies from medium to very good, for example sometimes the soup can be totally outstanding (actually I remember it being outstanding once, medium once, and on average good to very good). I was in the restaurant today 12/19/2022, the restroom smelled like someone died, it was disgusting, there was no toilet paper either. I usually order a small tortilla soup through DoorDash which cost $4.50, he comes in a medium size bowl. When I order through DoorDash I went to go to eat a big bowl of tortilla soup in the restaurant today which cost $8.99 when they brought the soup out. The soup was smaller than the $4.50 soup from them that I usually get off DoorDash. I said something about it and they said no this is the size and I was like why would I pay nine dollars for a soup that is smaller than the soup I usually get from you on DoorDash that's only $4.50, just beware, dirty bathrooms and skimpy on $9 soups! Came here during peak dinner time. There was a wait but the ladies at the hostess stand were very nice and pleasant. They were very helpful in keeping us updated with our wait times. Finally got sat after 30 min which was great cuz that's pretty much the estimated time. Our waitress was friendly and very timely. Didn't have to wait too long for our food which was wonderful considering it was a packed house. Our waitress was very attentive and repeatedly came back and checked in on us. I have to commend this establishment for the great service considering that we are in a pandemic with a lot of restrictions. Will definitely return!!! read more

I ordered the fried mahi-mahi tacos, and to my dismay, they tasted old, stale, and far from fresh. During our meal, we requested more chips, but our server carelessly grabbed the chip basket with his fingers touching the food, which was unhygienic and off-putting. To make matters worse, the sweet corn cake that accompanied our dishes seemed old and had a distinctly spoiled flavor. Went here to celebrate a birthday and girl's night! Had a great time, food and drinks were great! Everyone was nice and we truly enjoyed it. Must Haves- Sangria (Red) tastes a little different than the usual Sangria you may be used to, so give it a try! We were there for happy hour, Sangria was half off, Tequilla was not, which was surprising to us because it was a little too expensive.
