Hadn't been to El Torito in a minute decided to go in with my family to celebrate a special occasion regret coming in here. Right off the bat go into an empty restaurant and wait 5 minutes to get a table when the restaurant is completely empty. Order 2 of the grande fiesta platters with the tenders and the order comes out with wings. Each platter was 26 dollars for the amount of food served on the platter was a complete rip off. Wish that was the worst of it we ordered the IGNITED FAJITAS SUPREMAS which from past visits comes on a steaming skillet and lit of the table was a bland and lifeless plate that wasn't even lit at the table. Service was okay wasn't very attentive had to request refills multiple times before anything arrived. Lesson learned won't be coming back any time soon. read more

We used to love coming here a few years ago for the bottomless brunch on Sundays. The price was fair, they were never pushy about time limits on the tables, and the brunch food was really good. A few Saturdays ago we met family here for my FIL's birthday for a really late lunch around 3pm. The restaurant was not busy at all. We were the only table seated in the outdoor area and we had 8 adults, 2 teens, and 3 toddlers. Despite the lack of business, no exaggeration, it took 20 minutes before a server even came to get our drink order. We ended up having to ask an employee in the bar area what was happening just to get someone to our table. From there, it was all downhill. While the chips and salsa were good, the food we had was absolutely horrible. My husband and I split the sampler thing off the app menu and everything was just so bad. For example, the boneless chicken wings were literally bright orange and the breading was comparable to food court Chinese food that had been reheated several times - very soggy and just gross. The empanada things came with what tasted like sweet and sour sauce (??). The nachos were basically just some chips with sour cream on them. We couldn't even finish any of it because it was so bad. Our son's "pizza" off the kid's menu was just some sauce, half melted cheese, and pep on flattened pita bread. The fries were sooooo oily and overly cooked and you could taste the oil on them, so no flavor except for oil. We had to ask the server for my husband's Coke no less than 3 times. It was finally brought out as everyone's plates were taken away. The only reason for the 2/5 is because we had so many good brunch experiences here. It's mind boggling how there can be such a difference been Sunday brunch's food and service quality and a Saturday afternoon meal off the regular menu. Definitely won't ever come here for anything but brunch ever again. read more

Yes, I absolutely recommend El Torito. Maryan was fantastic and truly made our experience special. Her drink recommendation--the raspberry sage lemon drop--was AMAZING. Perfectly balanced, refreshing, and easily one of the best cocktails I've had in a long time. The service was friendly and attentive, and Maryan's knowledge and enthusiasm really stood out. I've done a couple of reviews for this establishment before. I literally been coming here since I was a teenager. So, about 25 years now lol. I usually have good customer service here but tonight it was exceptionally fantastic! Me and my sister usually come in on Tuesdays which are usually busy because of Taco Tuesdays of course. We were able to pick our usual Booth which was great, and Ramiro was our server today. He was so friendly, joking around with us and making sure our glasses were never empty. Prompt service and such a pleasant demeanor. We love coming here, l hope the manager sees this review and gives Ramiro the recognition he deserves! read more

In June we had a bad experience in which there was a miscommunication about what we could order on the Happy Hour call drinks. I won't get into that again but you can read in my previous Reviews. About a month ago I went to another El Torito with a vendor and I was recently near this location so we decided to give it another try. As soon as we walked in to the bar area we saw the same waiter that helped us last time. And then eventually, the same manager came in. And although there were a few minutes of awkwardness, they were both polite and professional. I am glad because I like El Torito's HH offering and it is a great place to go to. Tonight we had some drinks and appetizers and everything was great. Glad to be able to come back. read more

This was my first time trying an El Torito and it was definitely an interesting experience! We were dining for a birthday occasion and we were looking for specifically a Mexican restaurant that doesn't serve all you can eat brunch on a Sunday. It just happened to be a Sunday and apparently that was pretty hard to find when every Mexican restaurant was doing AYCE brunch lol. So they told us that we were able to do the lunch menu when it was 1pm. Luckily, the wait wasn't too bad, but maybe because we were there since brunch hours so we were the first to be seated for "lunch"? But the restaurant in here is indeed very festive! We ordered some entrees to share, but I mainly got to try the carne asada and cheese enchilada and the tacos vampiros. The carne asada and cheese enchilada was honestly disappointing, and the enchilada itself came kind of cold? It was not warm. So the carne asada was also not very hot either, so this entree overall was a bit bland. The tacos vampiros however was really good! I really liked how stacked it was and the flavors were everywhere! The guac was also very generous so I really enjoyed that. They also have the corn 'cake' on the side as well. For a birthday occasion, they will sing for you and put a candle on their flan. Their flan was actually really smooth and sweet. So we enjoyed that a lot actually! Overall, it was a nice experience. Service can be a bit slow since they get busy, but the food is what you would expect from a chain restaurant. read more

Just came back from Mother's Day Brunch and it was terrible. Our reservation was for 1:00pm we got there at 12:40pm and there was a long line to check in. When I finally got to the front of the line the two female hostesses then disappeared for 20 minutes. There was a long line behind me by the time one of them showed back up. I asked her is they were short handed and where the other hostess had been and she gave me an attitude and said "we're all doing other things" that's when the other people around me started complaining to her and she went and got her manager who then added in that the promised Mariachis had cancelled at the last minute and they were "doing the best they could to seat everyone" people were getting the corporate number from him and walking out. It was totally unorganized as far as check in and seating was concerned. It took about 90 minutes before we were seated. After that we went up to the brunch area and no plates. Took another 10 minutes before clean plates appeared. Food was decent but nothing special. Bill was $250.00 for 4 people with tip. Will never go there for Mother's day again. I don't need to spend that kind of money and then have to deal with rude behavior from the staff. Very unprofessional. read more

Surcharge on your check. We had 11 people and surcharge we asked the manager what it was and he said it from the corporate office and he was not able to remove it he was very apologetic. The food it not cheap and yes they have raised their prices so why a surcharge.. sorry I can't see paying the charge everything is already expensive. I avoided all El Torito locations for decades. I lived in the San Fernando Valley and they just were not good. A friend told me that this West Covina brunch was really good so I decided to try it. I was impressed! Freshly made corn tortillas, an omelette and a taco bar, and a variety of authentically made dishes. The service from Aura was so amazing that we returned a week later for Taco Tuesday and then a week after that for another brunch. At this brunch, Salvador was our server and he was just as welcoming and attentive. With service & meals like this we are now El Torito fans! read more
