Had an amazing time with my family at El Torito! There were so many delicious options to choose from, and everything was fresh and constantly being replenished, which we really appreciated. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself is beautiful, and the atmosphere made for a wonderful family meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A special thank you to our server, Salvador, for making our experience even better. He greeted us right away, got our drinks quickly, and was always nearby to make sure we had everything we needed without ever being intrusive. His attentiveness and friendly attitude truly stood out. Great food, great service, and a great experience all around. We'll definitely be back!

Enjoyed the Sunday brunch for the first time. For a buffet style brunch the food was very good. Highlights were corn stuffing and the chile verde. The manager was great and gave us a tour of the set up. Salvador was a very nice and attentive server and did a great job. Sometimes there's something comforting about a restaurant where you know exactly what you're going to get, and El Torito is one of those places for me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was pleasantly surprised by how bright, open, and inviting this West Covina location feels, making it an enjoyable place to sit down and relax.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While it's a chain, I've always found the food to be flavorful and consistently good, which is why I keep coming back. I'm also a big fan of the chips and salsa, and it's way too easy to fill up on them before the meal even arrives. Reliable restaurants are underrated, and I've never left this location feeling disappointed.

Ricardo was our server and our service was amazing. Without asking he made sure our empty plates were removed immediately and our drinks was never empty. Ive been to other restaurants where service was so poor id never go back again. Thanks Ricardo!!

Oofff... I didn't realize it is a C rating, I pass by this place so frequently and I haven't been here in so long. I used to LOVE THE Corn cake, it's this sweet corn mash thats not really even a cake. We order the grande fiesta platter, and the ignited fajita superme. (We requested non spicy) Also a queso dip for the chips. It was so good we cleaned the plates off almost instantly, the flautas so flaky and crispy. Quesadilla stuffed with cheese. It was so satisfying. The service is a bit slow, not bad but I was getting a little impatient. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is the same as always warmly lit, not too bright.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

First time at El Torito and I heard good things about the place an food. It was a weekday night so wasn't as busy, we only had to wait a few minutes for our table to be ready and we sat at a booth. The place was very well decorated with many statues, facade building structures and decorations as if you are in a very cozy homestyle village. The chips we got were a bit hard but the refills are much better, the salsa was actually really spicy. Unfortunately I am not good with spicy food, most of the food were listed as spicy, however, our server was able to accommodate and put in our order as non-spicy. We ordered the queso dip so I can eat the chips they gave, very delicious when hot! Difficult to eat once cooled so eat it while it's hot. We also got the Grande Fiesta Platter, nonspicy, which meant the wings were plain (still amazing, crispy), flautas were so flaky and crispy, and nachos were good but when the beans solidified it was hard to eat without sticking to my mouth. For mains, we shared the ignited fajitas supremas, it looks like it had the most to offer as a mix of everything. We got flour tortillas and it was good, I think the corn bread was the best, I feel they gave more shrimp than chicken/beef but the portions may be for one person rather than 2. Overall, we ate everything, I enjoyed the food, I really want to try their brunch buffet, I think I would enjoy it more.

This is my first time ever here and definitely worth coming back again soon! Pedro, our server, made this experience the best ever. He was very attentive and helpful throughout the whole time we were there, always making sure we had everything we needed. The food was amazing, the portions were more than I could think. Just left Sunday brunch at El torito on 3/15 and I don't even know where to start with what a disaster this place is. We made a reservation for 12 guests for my moms 64th birthday about 1 month in advance and requested to be sat outside for a more spacious and less noisy environment as we would have a newborn baby with us + my 90 year old grandmother. As soon as we got there, we were placed at a crammed table INSIDE although we were told originally told we would get the outside space. Upon sitting in the very tight space, we all got up to go serve ourselves at the buffet which did not have any plates available for about 10 minutes and a lot of the main dishes had not been replenished. Guests were squeezing in wherever they could in the buffet as there was 0 structure and no employees watching the buffet to make sure there was some sort of organization. It honestly looked like a bunch of ants fighting for food. My husband and I then got in the taco line while we waited for plates as it was a long wait for tacos anyway. There was 1 lady at the taco station making tortillas which took her a VERY long time to make. This is not her fault-only El Torito's fault for not staffing properly. When it was finally our turn to ask for tacos, she proceeded to give us tortillas and we helped ourselves to serving the meat as we saw other people doing so. The taco lady yanked the serving spoon away from my husbands hand and said it was her job to serve us. We thought that was very rude and uncalled for. We didn't know she was also supposed to serve us as she was SO busy making tortillas. Again, this is El Torito's fault for lacking organization. Aside from this, None of the food was labeled so there was a lot of very confused people just serving themselves. I had random people behind me asking me what the dish was that I was serving myself. Finally, when the mariachi came to sing my mom happy birthday, one of the hosts/servers walked a family of 10 right THROUGH the mariachi which completely ruined the video we were recording for my mom with the mariachi singing to her. This place lacks lots of class, good service, organization, and quality. I remember coming here about 10 years ago when it was a lot different. It's safe to say, we don't plan on coming back here and I don't advise anyone to come here for any special celebrations as management does not care to make your experience a special one. My mom was very disappointed that we had to spend her birthday here. My sister asked to speak to a manager halfway through our meal and we were told a manager would come but they never did. I would appreciate if management reached out to me directly so we could discuss this matter.

7/24 happy hour(3-7:00) Servicer seem like he had just started his shift, wasn't very attentive, chips/salsa dropped off then water, took a while to came back, to take our order. Took the order, but took a longer time to get the order delivered. I must also say the menu is a bit suspect, there's the picture of the Grande Fiesta platter. There is no price under it, it's on the other side of the picture!, a little bit deceptive. Also the picture showed Wings (we got tenders). The sliders!, seem like the meat slid off. Literally, no meat on the sliders. I like that jalapeño jelly sauce. Recommendation: ask customer if they want wings vs tender. But don't come back and tell them, oh "it's boneless". With everything going up you need to keep customers happy/coming back.

The Sunday all-you-can-eat brunch is what I come here for. The brunches are only on Sunday, from 9 AM, to 2 PM. The price is now $40 per adult. It includes champagne and mimosa. They have all types of Mexican food, as well as an omelette station, and I like all of it. Ngl it sort of feels like a Vegas buffet when I come here. Probably the best buffet in the local area. On my El torito to end the last day of my birthday month. Everyone here was great from the hostess's to the manager to my server shout out to Maria T. For her great service and always coming by checking on me making sure I had everything I needed. The young tall pretty hostess with the long eyelashes gave me a very nice compliment I didn't get her name but it was much appreciated. Of course the food was great as usual. Saturday afternoon, we attended a repass at the El Torito Restaurant on Garvey in West Covina. after a funeral program held nearby. We reserved one of the larger banquet areas for a large group. The food was set up banquet style, serve yourself, with everything you could possibly need for an enjoyable meal, and the food was excellent as usual. There were probably 75 in attendance. The food platters never went empty, the hot food stayed hot, while the cold food was kept on ice. Seating and serving that many guests at the same time can be an ordeal, no matter how well behaved the guests are. The entry staff, and the waitstaff were unbelievably kind. There were plenty wait staff available to care for the needs of so many guests. They kept the water and soda glasses filled while we ate, and they came around regularly to take cocktail orders and returned promptly with each order. We never had to hunt down anyone for help even though they were very busy. Someone was always around to assist. The food at El Totoro is always delicious, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the old world ambiance is inviting and makes you feel comfortable, the room stayed cool even with the large crowd.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's like dining on a well designed patio with friends and loved ones.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would recommend El Torito for small intimate meals with loved ones and for larger gatherings as well. Ohhhh yes... Funday Sunday Champagne Brunch at El Torito WC does not disappoint!!! Keep your kids at home and sit at the bar with my man Roberto the bartender!! He's courteous and attentive and will keep pouring the bubbly until you say stop!!! Or order a Margarita make it a Cadillac!!! The Buffett was awesome with so many selections... If I could give - stars I would. Went to celebrate my autistic sons 12th birthday. We were pretty much ignored and not tended to. It was 5 pm so it wasn't busy. They sang to the table next to us but not my son. Over charged me. I felt discriminated. Reached out to management. They called me the next day and said they'd look into it and get back to me but never did. My little boy was broken over this. I'll never go back. I'm a server and world never treat my guests this way... sad read more

I visited today with my sister and brother in law. Got there about 1:30 pm. Too early for Taco Tuesday and Happy Hour so we just ordered an appetizer platter, guacamole and chips. Also ordered cocktails. I ordered a pomegranate martini, my favorite. It was terrible. Don't even know what it was but it definitely was not a pomegranate martini. Sent it back and ordered a house margarita instead. It was good. Guacamole and chips were good but appetizer platter was awful. Chicken tenders had some terrible orange sauce on them. Quesadilla was good. Nachos were a mess and did not taste good. Normally I love nachos. They definitely need a new cook and a new bartender. read more

I came with my girls for bottomless mimosas and brunch buffet and Ricardo G helped us and was the best 100/10 The price is not steep at all;; you get what you paid for and I will definitely be coming again! We went for the Sunday brunch buffet & the food was all very tasty. They have an omelet station, chocolate fountain, taco stand, and a variety of Latin dishes to choose from. Upon seating, our server Salvador offered us drinks & pancakes. We opted for the bottomless mimosas, and he ensured we never reached the bottom. There is also a live mariachi band, it feels very festive. Indoors it is a bit loud for casual conversation, but overall still a great experience. Our server did remind me to leave a review 3 times, which felt a bit pushy. While it did bring me back to Yelp, this review didn't feel organic but rather forced. Even so, he did a great job & we enjoyed our experience at El Torito West Covina. read more

Haven't been to El Torito in years, I was raving about the Mexican salad to my guy. He looked up the menu and apparently they have happy hour 3-9 every day, in the cantina only. Sat down at a high top, most tables were pre-used, no clean up, plates and glasses, 1st strike. The nice waiter came took our drink order, took a long minute for an ice tea and a water w/lemon. After a long while, the server came back, must be the only one serving both cantina and restaurant, hmmm. Waited and waited.. We finally ordered a salad and asada fries.. Waited and waited again.. After 40 minutes, we decided to just leave. We walked up to the hostess to pay for the ice tea and she was rude!! So left the $5. and we were out!! With other eateries around!! Now I see why I haven't been in a while.. service was bad, chips were stale, surroundings tables were not serviced, adios!! read more

I've eaten too much Filipino food in my life to know what tastes good. I feel bad because the folks who work here/(owners?) are pretty nice and they were working on Valentines. But the current rating they have is misleading. If you're going for the big entrees like I did, and are used to Gerry's Grill type sisig, prepare to be disappointed. Yelp, you did not come thru for me this time.

Don't sleep on El Torito especially for their Sunday brunch all you can eat buffet! There's so much to choose from and I love that as a Mexican restaurant, they play music in Spanish so you really get in the mood! The decor and set up of the restaurant is beautiful and you truly feel like you are in a ranch in Mexico. One added touch we loved was the mariachi that was playing songs throughout the restaurant. We requested two songs from them and they did not disappoint! You pay per song just fyi which is very typical of mariachi groups. Service is amazing here too! The staff is very welcoming, respectful and courteous! Our server Ricardo was very kind and regularly checked in on us to clear our plates, the table or give us refills on drinks. He also made great suggestions like to try the Jamaica and it was so tasty! Ricardo was friendly and attentive throughout our visit to El Torito and we definitely can't wait to go back! Ok so let's talk about the food: There are tamales, enchiladas, rice, beans, sausages, eggs, an omelette station, a taco station with FRESH and HANDMADE tortillas!! Sooo good! You'll also find posole, menudo with all of the fixings and add ons. Just left this restaurant today on a weekday and the service we received was very poor. Today is our actual anniversary 11 years and I wanted just to have a nice dinner today as we both ended up having a long day at work and wanted my wife to enjoy a night out. As we enter this place about 6:30 pm, no one was at the reception area, but after a brief time of waiting in the lobby a server walked up and told us the dining area is not available to seat and we would have to wait about a 10 minute for availably, she suggested it would be faster service in the bar area. As me and my wife looked at each other we notice about 80 percent of the dining area was empty? We both due to hunger ignoring the warning signs kind of agreed to give it a try, but after we seated ourselves and watched tv for a while and looking for a server, it became evident that service was not on the menu. So, realizing this advice was not that great, we grabbed out menu and went back to the receptionist area were this time there was someone there. As we asked for a seat in the dining area, we were promptly told it would be a 15-to-20-minute wait. Once again 80 percent of the restaurant was empty? As we placed our menus on the podium, both of us looking at each other knew it was a lost cause and walked out realizing we would have to think twice before choosing this place again in the future. I spent Taco Tuesday at El Torito, and the guy making the tacos asked me what I wanted. I said pollo, but he said he doesn't speak Spanish. He said he's Cantonese, so I said I want chicken. He was obviously joking (because he's Mexican), but I think he said Cantonese because he assumed I was Chinese (which I'm not). Anyway, this slightly awkward "banter" aside, the lady (in the photo) was kind and lovely. She even gave me a chorizo, even if the "Cantonese" guy looked at her like, "Oh no, you didn't." But back to the food. The pollo tacos were spicy. The guy didn't tell us that they were spicy, so my nephew almost cried while eating. The pollo tacos were actually good, but I don't think kids will like them. It's the kind of spiciness that forces you to drink water or blow your nose. My experience was terrible because of the awful servers at today's brunch it is 11/7 a Sunday morning. And me and my husband went to brunch and the people serving the food were terrible! Well not all the serves, but the two white people at the waffle bar and the food bar next to the waffle bar were awful! They looked so ugly and miserable to be there working. Not to mention how rude and unwelcoming they both were. The small blonde lady was so rude and evil looking she would just grunt like an animal everytime someone approached the waffle bar. The man next to her wasn't any better he was a old white man with a dead look in his eyes also so terrible. I will not be going back if they continue to have those barbaric lowlifes serving the food. Save your money and go elsewhere. It's a great place don't get me wrong but those two serves ruined my experience. The others serving were not to bad except for those two racist white people! I ordered through DoorDash last night, and I called the restaurant and she answered because I wanted to make sure that my order would be 100% correct because I know the DoorDash people don't pay attention whatsoever. She reassured me that everything would be perfect, she answered all my questions that I had regarding the menu and she was so sweet the entire time. My food came, and it was the best fajitas and the best chips and salsa I've literally ever had in my life. No joke, my husband my brother-in-law's and all of us love the food so much that we are going to order again today. I wanted to thank her personally because my order was perfect because of her. Made a reservation for 25 in the Patio room for a pre Christmas party. We met Ralph, the manager, and went over the set up of the room and the buffet one week before the party. The evening of the party 'Ralph met us and reviewed the times for the buffet and any last minute details. The server, Tiffany , made the party a success. Her attentive service was fabulous. She knew when a new guest arrived and immediately took their drink order, kept checking on the gurests for refills and kept refilling our guacamole and chips. The Buffet was beautifully presented and delicious. Tiffany kept chcking on us and cleared plates at appropriate times, served dessert promptly and was a welcoming and gracious server. The food was really, really good. I've eaten at several other El Torito's in different cities, but this location, the food seem to be fresher, moist and well seasoned than the other locations. I ordered the Carnitas and my friend ordered the Shrimp Enchiladas. We had Margarita's, and flan for dessert. The whole meal was awesome. And to top it off, we had an amazing waiter. His name was Pedro. Pedro was right on time, he was one of the rare waiter who didn't keep coming by asking how's everything when you had your mouth full of food, but sense the right moment to ask and suggest more drinks, and didn't mind getting me more avacado for my Carnitas. He didn't seem rushed, nor did he rush us, to hurry up to usher in the next diners. He treated us like friends, and truly enjoys his Job. Our large group ate in one of the banquet rooms at El Torito Restaurant, 3133 E Garvey Ave N in West Covina, California on Saturday, July 18 (2026). We found the service, the food and the ambiance to be exceptional. Our group formed a buffet line and were supplied with a pre-chosen menu which included a variety of dishes that never seemed to run low ( thanks to our servers). We were very happy with these three main workers/servers assigned to our group named Gervacio, Ricardo and Salvador, because they were very attentive, efficient and courteous. They kept a constant check and refilled the needed dishes quickly, which allowed all to get their food in an expediate manner and then be able to sit down and eat around the tables while talking, sharing and comforting each other ( was just after a funeral service). El Torito is my go to fancy Mexican restaurant. I'm saying fancy bgecause it is not like your typical taco truck of hole in the wall joint. I decided to leave this review because today I was treated very nicely by the waitress. She was polite, always smiling and checking up on us to make sure that everything was okay. Her name is Vanessa. Their enchiladas are my favorite. Cheesy oowie(or however you spell that) gooey goodness. I also like the fact that they come and prepare the guacamole right in front of you. KIt is very entertaining. My absolute favorite thing from El Torito is: Drumroll please..... Their sweet corn cake!!!! Oh man I could eat a whole bucket of that stuff. The atmosphere had that perfect mix of lively and cozy -- great for both family dinners and date nights. The food was absolutely delicious! He went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, and you can tell he genuinely cares about the people he serves. Oh, so now I am banned from your establishment because I told and wrote truth...facts that other people have also experienced regarding Camila's poor manners. I expressed thee injustice in an email. Nothing was addressed. I have been a long time customer since it was Mariposa's Restaurant owned by Laura on Restaurant Row and here, on Rowland. I've held my tongue for a long time. Love coming here for many reasons. I love being there amongst my well receptive crowd of loving friends. Genuine kindness and customer service is important. I find it unfair to ban me for stating how I feel. Well deserved four to five stars for the chef, the karaoke hosts, the former server who was fired. I believe Heriberto/aka Eric/Heri was friendly, fun, efficient and well received. As a former schoolteacher and humanitarian, I believe in fairness, kindness and addressing rude people with hope that their actions do not affect others. Sadly, some do not like to be called out. Camila and Mauricio made a grave decision. Rather than improve on their behalf, they'd rather retaliate with vengeance. I hope that you heal and are careful with your future actions, Camila and Mauricio. By the way, several bar stools have sharp metal sticking way out. Someone can be hurt. I told staff last week, April 25, 2026. The protruding steel and stools are not safe.
