First time dining at this location and this restaurant is huge. We ended up sitting at the Cantina for the happy hour. Good spot for happy hour all day 3-9pm. Happy hour menu offers some drinks and snacks. They serve their complimentary chips and salsa. We got a Modelo and signature margarita (heavy on the ice). We got the guac and fries. Horrible service for take-out order on a non-busy evening. I came in-person tonight to place a take-out order and the host said it would take 30 minutes. Order was placed at 6:40pm per my receipt. At the 15 minute mark, I checked with the host and she said the order will take some more time. I came back in at 7:15pm, it has now been 35 minutes and the host looked confused and frazzled, disappeared into the kitchen for 12 minutes without no word. I asked several servers who passed by the host station, what's going on with our order. They said to just wait a bit longer. All in all, waited nearly an hour for take-out order. The restaurant itself was not busy. Poor communication and customer service between host and customer. Will not be revisiting based on this. read more

The restaurant has a more upscale Mexican vibe while maintaining a casual ambiance. I ordered the shrimp fajitas and asked for no rice; the server kindly offered double beans instead. My family has been coming here for 25 years. We always ask to sit in Ricardo's section if possible. Her know my family when we were still a huge family. When my mother in law passed the amount of people that comes together is less. But he always asks about my father in law since he no longer joins us . We always brag that we always get the best service here. Today was our first Easter and my concern was that that tacos were going to be overtaken by ham & Tri tip. I always look forward to the handmade tortillas and the carnitas. Ricardo has been our server forever and while he was moved to a smaller area which required a lot more people his service was as superb as always. So four or five years later my brother wants to try this place. Hmmm... ok... let's give it a second chance. We ordered the 1800 fajita supreme... and it was ok... but the chicken was a little dry. Aside from the food what was upsetting was our waiter. He seemed very he was very upset about something... but we had to face the brunt of his situation. No friendliness and just bewildered when we asked questions. Like... why were we charged $3.84 for soda water. He said something like... it uses CO2 and gotta charge for that. Really?!? Every restaurant we've been to in the past doesn't charge for soda water. And then they add a surcharge to your total without letting people know. Of course it's on the menu in very small print. And the waiter went and got the menu and pointed to the bottom of the menu. On somewhat of a positive note, the waiter did bring out my diet Pepsi refill. No senior discounts... yet they let you know about AAA discounts after you have paid for your bill. El Torito seems to be scraping the bottom of the barrel at nickel and dime people. read more
