We got -Family meal w/ whole chicken, rice, beans, tortillas -Family meal w/ 1lb carne asada, rice, beans, tortillas -3 different tamales -Asada Super Nachos -A Chili Relleno -3 different drinks (Horchata, Strawberry, & Cucumber Mint) -Multiple sides of red & green salsas Honestly everything we had was fresh & great quality. The rice & beans were top notch, asada was seasoned great & had barely any fat, the chicken was like a lime rotisserie & was tender & juicy, Their house made corn tortillas were awesome & not dried out like most places (my wife hates corn tortillas & she loved them.) Their agua frescas were a hit, this place makes the best Horchata we have ever had, it was creamy & not watery like most places. The salsas were just ok but everything else was outstanding. Their team members were all very friendly & the place was very clean as well. Even though it's on the other side of town from us we just found our new Mexican food spot. This was our first visit and the food was so good that we will definitely be back. (Though next time we will probably place a pick up order ahead of time because of the small number of seats to eat there.) I had the chicken tacos, normally you'd think eh, pretty boring. But not these. So much moist white meat packed these double tortilla (fresh and delish!) tacos that I was truly stuffed when we left. Hubby had shrimp tacos he really enjoyed, and son had asada burrito that he was pleased with. We shared some chips, guacamole and hot sauce. Excellent and flavorful! It's been a while since we've been to El Toro Tortilleria and I have no idea why because this food is so delicious and the most reasonable prices. We got a one pound carnitas dinner which comes with rice, beans, tortillas, one salsa, cilantro and onions with added extra pound of carne asada and extra salsa for under $40 - with the add-ons!! And it was all absolutely delicious. And don't forget they make their own tortillas. The parking lot is small and only goes one way, there will probably always be a line because they are popular and you may have difficulty being understood because they speak Spanish almost exclusively but it's all worth it, I promise! read more

I saw this place on Yelp previously and was finally in the area to check it out. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the manager. He explained how the ordering process worked and offered to get me some samples to try. I got to try the agua fresca, guacamole and chips. I ended up ordering some tacos and the family carnitas plate. I also got the guacamole, chips and an agua fresca. All of the food was fresh and the servings were large. The asada taco had a lot of flavor. The tortillas were so soft. I normally only like yellow corn tortillas but these were amazing. read more

Seen advertisements for this place on TikTok and seen their tortillas for sale at local Hispanic stores in my town so I decided to take a trip with my mom. Line was long to order the food but definitely worth it. Carnita tacos were light and tasty they make their own corn tortillas there and those were also light and tasted delicious. Had a couple questions before ordering that the workers were extremely helpful. They have a chicharrón, area as well. Definitely got some of those to try. Those are delicious. I first tried this place at a catered event and everyone thought the food was great. There were fresh corn and flour tortillas, steak, chicken, guacamole, salsa, rice, and refried beans. It was delicious to have such a variety. However, for my pick-up order, my experience was pretty different. I ordered through their online platform, which I think is powered through DoorDash. It said the order would be done in 10-15 minutes. When I got there in 20 minutes from the online order, the order was not even started. They hadn't seen it. So I waited for the order after another 10 minutes. My super burrito with steak was huge. However, the layout and proportions between meat, cheese, rice, beans, and guacamole was off. I saw mainly meat and guacamole, but not enough cheese, rice, or beans, which was unfortunate. The meat was also very smoky, and so it's not necessarily what you'd expect. This place can get very busy and they have a small parking lot, but there is some street parking though that's not guaranteed. This shop has a few tables, but not sure this is the best place to eat given the noise from the tortilla machines going on in the background. There are folks making tortillas in front of you, but it also means this place can get pretty loud and not have the ambiance of an expected restaurant. read more

Wow!!! I took my bride here for an early Valentine's Day lunch. The line was long, but moved quickly. We ordered tacos and a queso birria taco. They were fantastic. The tacos were loaded with meat. El Toto on Tulare and Barton is absolutely excellent. The tacos are amazing, the rice is packed with great flavor, and the beans are delicious. Portions are extremely generous, the burrito is insane, literally like three burritos in one. Customer service is top-notch. David, the owner, is always friendly and welcoming. He walks around checking on guests and offering different things to try. Tonight, he had me try his corn tamales for the first time, and they were absolutely delicious. Our first time here and how impressive! We waited in line to order, looking at the menu options, watching them create tortillas - what a cool establishment! One of the employees was walking around offering samples of champurrado - so kind, and so good! I've never had it before! Every single employee was kind, took the time to look us in the eye when we spoke, repeated our order back with a specific request - to make sure he had it correctly, which he did. When we paid, another employee was so kind, asking us if it was our first time in - which it was! We were welcomed with smiles, not being rushed or dismissed. The kindness was genuine and so appreciated. We asked if they had cucumber agua fresca, they kindly offered us a sample and we ordered one! My husband's coworkers kept telling him about how good this place was. So we finally decided to try it out. Parking is a little scarce so you might have to park in the neighborhood and walk. Upon entering I realized this is a store as well selling other Mexican goods. We chose to try out their asada tacos, asada burrito and beef tamales. Their tacos are made with homemade tortillas and are delicious with lots of meat and cilantro. To be honest it was so filling I only needed one taco lol. Which is saying a lot because I usually eat way more. The burrito was huge and had to be split. The tamales are decent. While technically impossible to describe El Toro as a hidden gem (how could a prominent location and a large, bold sign on a corner lot on Tulare Ave be hidden?), it's safe to say that this is a largely undiscovered gem in Fresno's dining scene. That's a shame. It is arguably Fresno's best Mexican restaurant. What is not arguable is that it is certainly among the very best this city has to offer. It is so good. Everything here is of incredible quality and no corners are cut. Rotisserie chickens bursting with flavor. Exquisitely balanced guacamole. Salsas made from scratch. Exceptional aguas frescas. The best tortilla chips in the Valley--EASILY. And of course, their signature tortillas made without any additives or preservatives of any kind. Handmade from scratch using genuine masa. Our server was THE BEST (!!!!), and he has a bright future in business. We are visiting from Washington State, El Toro was recommended by local friends, and it did not disappoint! Amazing food and awesome customer service at a great price point, what else can I ask for? I had the pleasure of having lunch here yesterday during a quick Fresno stop. Luckily, I brought in family from the area because it's our new spot! I was greeted warmly and given some samples of the tortillas, chips, and aguas frescas. I was explained that they grind the nixtamal themselves! Meaning those tortillas are all fresh and no mixes! I decided on the combo 1, a family package that included a pound of chopped asada, a container of beans and rice, two big salsas, and a pound of fresh tortillas. I also ordered a quesabirria and a corn tamal. For my drink, I did the cucumber lime chia agua Fresca, which was so refreshing in the summer heat. The servings were big, the meat was freshly grilled and perfectly seasoned. The salsas were so good as well as the sides. The tortillas were so good I ended up taking three pounds home. Everything was so yummy, my only regret is not coming before. I will definitely be back soon, there's so many more things I need to try! read more

I've been here twice, both times during lunch hour and it was busy, they have really good chile rellenos and chicharon, they have the big pork belly strips fried to perfection full of flavor and taste great with their fresh tortillas and salsa. For under $60 we got 1 bottled coke 1 large agua Fresca 1 small Guacamole 1 small salsa verde 1 medium pico de gallo 2 Taco plate with carnitas and asada (came with enough to make 4 tacos beans, rice and roasted jalepeno) 1 Bean and cheese burrito 1 Shrimp taco 1 Chile rellano 1 bag of chips 1 pack of tortillas The staff was incredibly friendly and grateful to all of their customers. Met by an enthusiastic young gentleman who handed us a bag of fresh chips. Delicious chips. He gave us the run down of where the corn comes from, cooked on site and during certain times fresh warm tortillas right off the press are used to make the meals. He gave us taste tests of the meat. We got carnitas, birria, and steak. All of the meat was cooked perfectly and super tender. The biria and carnitas for both of us was lacking in flavor. Honestly I think it needed salt. The steak was delicious and our favorite. Beans were fantastic, tortillas huge, soft, and held up. Tacos are stuffed with a very generous helping of meat. Rice was flavorful and perfectly fluffy. Two taco combo was very feeling and I couldn't finish it. Great family combos offered and prices are incredible. Will be back and will also order for work. There is seating although limited. This place is busy. I'm not a horchata fan but this place definitely has changed my mind. Soooo good!! Best tortillas in town! Both of my parents said they tasted like the ones in Mexico. When I walked in with my mom the cashier gave us a sample of their drinks. I tried the strawberry water and my mom had the champurado. Both were amazing. Since it was our first time we had questions, the cashier was super kind and even gave us a tortilla to try.
