I'm not sure how many times I've been here but, thought I'd update for two reasons. 1. Thank you to the family that is there selflessly delivering their loving offering to patrons. Truely an endangered commitment these days. 2. To inform those unaware of El Vecino that they are missing out. It's superior Tex Mex. My Mexican Side Car and Big Johns platter was enough to send me into Sunday afternoon happiness. I recommend you visit asap.

Quality food but can be lacking in flavor. The salsa was good but the Mexican lasagna was bland and needed spice, acidity, anything to add more flavor Service is excellent! And its a fun place to be, they have a full bar with seating.

Great authentic Mexican restaurant tucked into the neighborhood area. We went on a Friday night, there was a 30 min wait but we were able to get a drink from the bar and sit and wait and time flew. The service and staff were all really friendly. The food came really quickly. I ordered the Taco Salad and loved it. It was very flavorful and it didn't need the dressing. My drink was the Sangria Margarita and it was so good ! Overall great little spot to support. Will be going again!

I had the scrumptious crab enchiladas with charro beans, guacamole and a top shelf margarita! So great! I'm fortunate to live close to this gem!

The food, ambience and service overdelivers! The portions are just right, with the right amount of flavors throughout each dish. Our party gobbled up the chips and salsas which were perfection. Be sure to order a side of queso, it does not disappoint. Looking forward to our next dine out to try some of the other dishes. There are plenty of options to try from.

Just left a Saturday family lunch here and I don't think I could have even imagined a better family weekend late lunch. We came with our little ones in tow and the restaurant was pretty packed on a random Saturday at 1pm. We were quickly seated and opted for some draft beers, a margarita, and some guacamole. We got the chicken mole, spinach enchiladas, combination fajitas, and a chicken quesadilla. All the food was delicious but the service was next level. Our server couldn't have been nicer and she even overheard us speaking about a birthday and we got a full birthday celebration by what felt like the entire restaurant staff!! The green salsa served at the table is super tasty and has some heat kick. The red salsa they serve is also super tasty. The steak fajitas were super moist and tasty. Even the chicken fajitas had on point flavor. We will definitely be bask!!

This place is awesome. The employees are very helpful, atmosphere is inviting, decor is nice. I would definitely recommend. We had the sampler platter which had a little bit of everything and it was really good. My bf had the fajitas and I had the shrimp tacos. He was raving about how flavorful and soft the meat was and my shrimp tacos were very good as well. Our server, Arlene, always had a smile and was attentive and just positive. She checked on us constantly and made us feel welcome. Overall we had a great time.

Ask the Community - El Vecino

What's the happy hour time and specials?

    3-6pm M-F, $5 margaritas

Does El Vecino have any gluten free options? Are the chips okay or friend in the same oil as chimichangas, etc.?

Do we need reservations for 2 around 6:00 on a Saturday night?

I don't think so but with Father's Day weekend may not be a bad idea.

Happy Hour info? I'd like to try this place out. And sample several drinks.

God bless the people who came up with Las Palmas…read more First of all, please never change the queso- it is heaven sent and we always take it to-go (I'm NEVER leaving the rest behind) and it tastes even better the next day. This queso is probably the best I've ever had. BTW it is a LIL spicy but I can let that slide. Another great appetizer option would be the Nachos Al Carbon with wagyu. Super good too & honestly you can even order it for just one person as a main dish-- the serving size is big enough. BUT THE REAL STAR OF THE SHOW AT LAS PALMAS ARE THE WAGYU FAJITAS!!! Incredible. Comes with flour or corn tortillas, beans, rice, and obviously the works: sour cream, guacamole, lettuce. You know the vibes. Speaking of vibes, they're always there at Las Palmas. It is always busy but I genuinely don't care and never mind waiting an hour and a half for our table. It's worth it. This place is a confirmed staple in Dallas. Probably come here once a month if not more often. Thank you for great food and good service too- that's hard to come by nowadays. TRY THIS PLACE OUT! This is your sign!

Now, I will note that the parking proved to be a touch challenging, and the grounds were a bit damp from the rain though, I suppose that is simply to be expected. The decor is absolutely magnificent, adorned with a curated collection of cowboy hats and photographs that beautifully capture the true, authentic spirit of Dallas. It has such character! I initially settled in at the intimate little bar, where the bartender greeted me with wonderful hospitality. To begin, I ordered a Spicy Mezcal Margarita an exceptionally flavorful choice that was executed flawlessly. After a lovely, brief chat with the bartender, the sun began to break through the clouds, warming up the day beautifully. Naturally, I decided to move out to the patio to fully immerse myself in the vibrant afternoon energy. The overall atmosphere, service, and decor are nothing short of extraordinary. Chris our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. He took his time walking us through the menu and explaining what made El Carlos Elegante so special. The drinks were perfect. My wife loved her Desert Flor while I thoroughly enjoyed my Modelo Micheleda. Her Surf and Turf one hitter was exceptional. I have to say my Crab Cake was just ok. It tasted a little pasty and very heavy on the bread. The Pulpo was absolutely amazing. Perfect texture and the sauce it was served almost had me licking the plate. The El Machete was incredible from its presentation, to the freshness of the corn tortilla, to the quality of the meat inside. Definitely recommend this. We really liked our Okra + Shishito course, we just wished it had more okra in it. The two things I loved about the Al Pastor was of course the sauce it was served on but the fact that I got to enjoy it like a steak. It was served sliced on a bias like flank steak. Typically Al Pastor is finely chopped and served in tacos and burritos, so this was a different eating experience for me. And of course it was delicious as well. It was glorious and bountiful--there was ample dressing, cheese, and other ingredients I'm forgetting that made it unique. Unfortunately, during our second visit, the Caesar salad was significantly different. I think they used the same dressing, but there was very little of it. There was nearly no cheese and the other ingredients were similarly sparse. It was still good, but it in no way was the greatest I'd ever tried. I hope that this was a 1-off experience, as it truly was the best. I will report back next time. Service was great both times- they were very careful about my Cilantro request (none) and even though they gladly prepared dishes without it, they also made a list of things that already had none by default. Salmon ceviche, Pork al pastor, Carne asada, and the machete were also very good. The machete is a specialty- it had the house made masa and fillings can vary.
