Random place that was found while I was near the mall. Decent food, i got steak tacos, chips and guac and prickly pear margarita. Service was another story. - Prickly pear margarita 5/5 - Chips with guac 3/5 - guacamole was nothing special, super basic. Chips were deceiving cause the top layer were normal size but at the bottom it was all crumbs... - Steak tacos 4/5 - your basic steak tacos, hit the spot Restaurant was nicely decorated with plenty of seating without reservation. Service was bad, waitress acted as if we were an inconvenience to her.
We were in need to vegetarian options down in BPC for family and this restaurant was one of our options. Street parking only. Stroller parking right inside the doors. There is booth and table seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Good business on a Sunday night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered a few appetizers, entrees and dessert. We were all happy with our selections! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Considering the noise level, somehow we were able to have conversations (maybe because we were sitting in a booth?).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was friendly, attentive and efficient. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The one star is for the colorful, lively, albeit, noisy atmosphere[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] BUT everything else is a firm no. My heart sank when this spot was chosen for a farewell gathering for two employees. Apparently, this spot is a favorite among[[HIGHLIGHT]] the team. Indoors was super loud and crowded. There was no way you could carry on a [[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]conversation. We brought the par[[HIGHLIGHT]]ty outdoors. Most of the group sweltered due to the ongo[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]ing heatwave. Pitchers of Margherita were brought to the table: Mango, Passionfruit and Guava. I was going to have the Mango but one sip was enough. Sweet and flavorless. Food was ordered for the table: wings, Guacamole, nachos and some others. I tried a piece of the mushroom quesadilla which was soggy. I passed on everything else just by the looks of it. I joined just to be social but El Vez and myself mix like oil and water. I'll pass.
I was craving nachos and wanted to try something new. So I asked ChatGPT what was the best nachos in the city. They pointed me to El Vez. I ordered it for pickup using DoorDash and it was ready in about 15 minutes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]El Vez is located all the way downtown near Battery Park. Looks like they took over the old Blue Smoke space (RIP), so the restaurant is pretty large.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was surprised when I went to pick it up and they handed me a square pizza box. This is actually something unique that makes it good. The biggest issue with nachos is that only the top chips have toppings and the bottom ones are naked. Not these nachos, they're laid it flat so every chip is covered. I ordered the Macho Nacho Chorizo and I would get it again. Is it the best I've ever had? Maybe not. But it's pretty good.
Food (5/5): Been here a couple of times and the large family nachos plate always slaps and is such a generous serving. We also get the fajita combo usually with steak and shrimp. Soo much meat and so delicious. Service (4/5): Food usually comes out quite fast with no issues. Servers weren't particularly chatty or friendly but they were helpful when they came along. Could've checked up on us a bit more. Ambiance (5/5): [[HIGHLIGHT]]Beautiful ambiance and tons of space for this restaurant. Great decor and nice lighting to contrast the interior.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall a really nice place in FiDi area of Manhattan.
[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a nice restaurant nestled close to the world trade center memorial site.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Its very spacious and has some cool decorations on the wall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have large plate kids meals. We got the cheese quesidillas and the kids nachos. They devoured it. The side of rice and beans were not too spicy for the kids. And they loved the fruit as well. I got the adult nachos. They are served on a plate with ample toppings. We also got the chicken enchiladas. Those were bathed in a mole type of sauce. It definitely needed hot sauce. It took a while to get a server to come back with the hot sauce but it was worth it. They had an orange one that was milder and a red one that was much more spicy. It was filling and good. Prices were fair for NYC.
Came here on a Friday night with some friends without a reservation and were seated immediately outside. We had a plate of the nachos and the combo, shrimp and chicken tacos to share. The nachos were definitely my favorite, not the best price ever for the size, but definitely worth it considering the area. The chicken and shrimp was good but the sides that came with the taco plate left a little bit to be desired. Service was fine, if I were to come back, I definitely would get the nachos!

I got the shrimp tacos, birria tacos, and French fries at dinner, and the food was sooooo yummy! my favorite was definitely the shrimp tacos. I dont usually get shrimp tacos because of the fishy taste but these were exceptional! I love how well the shrimp goes with the cheese and mixes well with the other condiments like pepper and radish! the birria was nice and juicy and filled with cheese! the French fries were so crispy on the outside yet moist on the inside! I was shocked to find this because it's usually really difficult to maintain the consistency of the fries as you are deep frying the outer surface. the service was amazing as well! the waiters were all so nice and welcoming. we had a couple of questions regarding the number of tacos provided and how the portion size for each dish was and the waiter was patient and detailed when answering our questions! [[HIGHLIGHT]]the interior design is just mind blowing. I love how the lights dangle off the ceiling and radiate off the walls. it creates such a romantic and soothing time![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would definitely come here again and again whenever im in the area! While exploring the area near the river by WTC, we ran into El Vez, a warm and cozy burrito bar on Vesey St. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We loved the Dia de los Meurtos decorations, especially the Elvis portrait (we're big fans) we found near our table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We stopped in for brunch and were delighted with the service, drinks, breakfast burritos and quesadillas. Very reasonably priced, service was good, and the food was delicious and filling. We'll have to come back for dinner one evening.
Basing this review on an after work function. Caje here on a Wednesday afternoon about 5. There was some confusion at the hostess desk and accounted for a group of people moving three times venire we were placed correctly. This place got packed, really quickly. The place is large with multiple sections but it was still packed as groups and groups kept coming in. But the drink I had, margarita was strong and delicious. Servers worked hard.

This was my second time visiting El Vez. My friends wanted Mexican food and this was the closest Mexican restaurant. I wasn't excited to eat here, as my first experience didn't wow me. First, let's talk about the food. Overall the food is okay. We ordered the nachos for the table. They were pretty good, honestly the best thing I had at this place so far. The tortillas were really crunchy and and there was a good balance of creaminess and acidity. The pickled onions and jalapeños really made this dish worth ordering. One thing I would say is that unfortunately the only options they have to add meats is chorizo or birria. I ordered the steak tacos. The portion size was great (3 Tacos) and the steak was perfectly cooked. The tacos only come with 1 tortilla each so they tend to fall apart. It comes with a tomato salsa and onions. Very simple. I also tried the plantains with cheese. Also good but did not wow me. As for the service. This is where usually a lot of places lose customers and this place is no exception. At first the server was really friendly, but that's about as good as it gets. We asked for water for the table multiple times. We all got 1 glass of water each and never got a refill, even after asking again. I ordered sparkling water and my water came almost 10 minutes after all of my friends had received their drinks. Once the food was ordered, the server seemed to be in a rush; even though the place was pretty empty (we went on a Tuesday evening). Overall, this place is just okay. If you're trying to get a quick bite it does the job. read more
Came here for brunch with some friends on a Sunday. We had reservations but given how empty the restaurant was we didn't need them Food: If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, then look elsewhere as this feels like a chain geared towards tourists Mimosa: more orange juice than champagne and was in a wine glass, which I thought was odd Classic guacamole: expensive for $14. I like the cotija cheese on top, but it needed more lime, cilantro, and jalapeño to really make it shine. The chips were nice and crispy Blue cornbread benedict ($16 - poached eggs, bacon, chipotle hollandaise, breakfast potatoes): I specifically asked the waitress to make sure the poached eggs had runny yolks as the whole point is to have that unctuous yolk smothering the cornbread and hollandaise. Alas, the poached eggs were overcooked. Did not taste significant chipotle flavor in the hollandaise either. Breakfast potatoes were not bad, bu the blue cornbread was dry Service/Ambiance: Service was meh. One person asked for hot sauce that never came, so he had to ask a second time. Difficult to figure out what door to even enter the restaurant as it seems they are no longer using the original one, and it's difficult to see inside due to the tinted windows. Upon arrival I was greeted by the lovely hostess, one seated the bartenders attended to me as soon as possible to my every need. The food is phenomenal,and the service is spectacular. 11 for El Vez love the ambience and the service definitely will be bringing my family and friends back. The best part about NYC is when the venue posts a menu to view BEFORE entering. No surprises. Seeing the vegan and vegetarian options a definite plus and certain piqued our curiosity and appetites. Cool, eclectic venue... the inverted bottle trees and sparkly skull wall art kept me star struck during the meal. The kitschy take on Elvis and Elvez makes for a cool vibe. Servers were above and beyond courteous and super friendly. Menu boasts a variety of tempting tastes for all palates- priced accordingly. Street parking at your own risk. All covid precautions adhered to, masks upon entry and prepare to show proof of vaccination. read more

Came here for lunch at 12PM and it wasn't that crowded but it did start to fill up around 12:30/1PM. The staff were all so nice and the food was delicious! We had the chips & guac, Mahi Mahi and Shrimp tacos and the tuna tostadas. They were all super yummy and we were so full at the end of it. Would definitely come again! read more

First I have to say I'm usually not a tacos person nor do I eat Mexican food often, but I truly enjoyed my brussels sprouts tacos at @elveznyc a lot and even craving to try it again sometime! The brussels sprouts were the right amount of crunchiness and freshness/juiciness. The tortilla was also super yummy! Overall a really great lunch option! read more

I went to the movies nearby and decided to bring mom here for Mexican food. The service, food and drinks were on point. Very attentive staff and delicious food. We enjoyed the beautiful evening air outdoor seating. We will definitely be back. read more
There are clearly a few lost Yelpers writing about the main El Vez restaurant on this page...this is just for the burrito bar! Been dying to try this weekday-day only spot for ages. I finally visited when I had a half day, and it didn't disappoint. My boyfriend built a delicious burrito, and I did the same with a rice bowl. Chocolate and horchata soft serve were also amazing. Had a group lunch here, and really enjoyed it. I did not realize there was a solid place in downtown Manhattan with delicious Mexican food and drinks. Understand that eating lunch downtown tends to be on the pricier side of the $$ range here. BUT it is well worth it, as I had the Chicken Mission Burrito for lunch and did not eat until the next day! Stopped by here for a lunch, they have a take-out section where you can order and a restaurant section for those who want to sit down and eat or be seated outside if the weather is good. Had a white wine sangria which wasn't bad, and ordered guacamole to start with chips & salsa. Oddly, they took the chips away even though we had salsa and guac to eat... weird, couldn't finish the salsa/guac that way. I can't believe how poor the ratings are! I'm generally not blown away by Mexican food, but this place easily makes my all-time top 3! Starting with the service: we were a small group visiting our friend in the area. The host graciously held onto our suitcases for us -- that was huge. We had opted for margarita pitchers for the table and they surely did their job. By the time entrees rolled out, we were ravenous. Words alone can't describe how good the pork shoulder carnitas tacos I had gotten were. I'm not sure if it was the marinade, the quality of meat, or the taco add-ins, but I sure wish I could have them now as I'm writing this review. Other items ordered were the fish tacos (OK in my opinion) and the shrimp ones (pretty good as well. You really ought to be getting the carnitas though. I need to highlight that this is the right way to make nachos. They created a flat layer of tortilla chips, all chips on the same level then evenly distribute the toppings into the chips. This is the right way to do it! No chip is naked in these nachos; every bite you are getting flavor. The only annoying thing was it took a while to get the attention of the staff for my bill. read more

Came here one day after visiting the 911 memorial . My favorite location is in Philly so when I found out there was one here- we decided to check it out Had the frozen blood orange margarita. Here's the deal... I've been here 10 times it's one of my favorite places in the battery park /WFC area. Great bar area with some great appetizers to share. Nice outdoor seating area. Really never had a bad meal ... tacos are very good ... brunc delicious and they have very good margaritas!!! Love their ceviche dishes !! read more

My friend and I really wanted nachos, so we came here. We were not disappointed! Every chip had toppings and we were excited you could add birria. Side note- it is super dark in the restaurant, and we were there on the earlier side. The service was quick and our waiter was super nice. Good for nachos, but besides that, it's not too different from other Mexican/American places. read more

One star for decor and another for appetizers, but service, entrees, and price value fell short at dinner tonight. Nacho mama - This is where it's at. It comes out on a pizza tray and has the whole shebang. Don't skip this, especially if you're sharing. It's a fun kind of nachos to try. Rey Mysterio guacamole - all I wanted for my birthday was pomegranate guacamole, and that is what I got, damnit! This was so delicious and fresh, but a very small portion. Mahi mahi tacos - skip! It's so disappointing! My friend only had a quarter of the whole dish and didn't touch the rest! I tried it, thinking he must be too picky, but I spit out the bite I took! It's so overly saucy, and the actual fish is so fried. Tuna carnitas tacos - I've never had tuna that's been cooked in a slow cooker, and I hope I never will again. It tasted like pork and lost all flavor. Not the type of tuna I had in mind when ordering. It's also definitely not worth the price. It's just some tuna and vegetables, people. Nothing special to make it worth almost $20. The place is huge - rent here must be like 20K - so it's great to hang out with a big group. The interior is fun to take in. But service was not into servicing us, and the meals were incredibly lame, especially when considering the price. I'm not abt that El Vez life, homie. Took us a very long while to get served. Furthermore, my Steak Tacos were lackluster and dry. They came with no sauce and it all felt overpriced. I honestly would've enjoyed Chipotle more and I'm not saying that be dramatic. And want kind of Mexican restaurant doesn't give complimentary chips? Surely this isn't just a NYC thing... read more
What I really liked this place was the cute exterior. They set up glass tents that have heaters! Very cool. Food was disappointing, especially the burrito. It was nothing special other than beef, beans, and rice. The nachos were nice though not that much. It looks like a lot but its not a very deep dish at all. That was enough for 2 people along with our entrees. read more
Been here many times! I love the decor and the ambiance. Service is super fast and friendly. At first we loved the food and kept going back, but then my only concern these last few times has been that there are only so many vegetarian items you can order. Which I would get for any restaurant, except this is Mexican! Mexican food can have so many awesome varieties of vegetarian food options, and we don't have to stick to the plain old beans and cheese enchiladas. Special shout out to the cauliflower tacos and the nachos, absolutely yummy. read more
