I was incredibly excited…read moreto visit, especially since it's modeled after a famous, specific style of dining in Japan, and I loved the concept of having soup with the remaining rice at the end. The interior is beautiful, very Japanese-inspired with a clean mix of modern and rustic design elements. The menu is quite curated, featuring just a few options for main entrees and a select handful of appetizers. We arrived right at opening on a Tuesday night. We skipped the appetizers and were unfortunately told they were already out of Uni, meaning the Matsu bowl wasn't available. We both opted for the Take bowl instead. One major downside for me was the pricing. The bowls are already quite steep, so discovering that you have to pay an additional $4.50 just for the dashi broth felt a bit off-putting. Because of that, we chose to skip the broth altogether. As for the food, the bowl itself was flavorful and the portion size was decent. However, given the price and the massive reputation, it didn't quite meet my expectations and felt a bit underwhelming. I don't think I would return to this location, but it did make me want to travel to Japan to try the original version!

We ordered 2 lobster rolls which looked nothing like what was pictured on the menu (see attached photos). I asked the waiter pointing to the picture on the menu if that was the lobster roll, and they said yes. The order we recieved was probably 1/3 of the size and did not have anywhere near the pieces or large chunks of lobster pictured on the menu. Through pictures already posted, I've found the picture of the advertised roll on the menu photo, and the real order you recieve. The menu photo appears to have around 6-8oz of lobster, whereas the real order appears to only have closer to 2-3oz. Dissapointing when the plate was placed in front of me to see the reality. Still, overall a good eatery, just would be nice if food was delivered as advertised on the photos, otherwise its just fake advertising.

I was worried they would be close by the time I get there since they close at 5pm and it was 4:45pm when we got there. There is parking in the back that you can drive in and park. I told them I wanted 120 Pacific oysters and the worker brought it out right away. They were $120 but since I used my card to pay, they tacked on $5 to the price. I think you have to spend a certain amount to avoid the $5 credit card charge. They asked if I was ok with it and I told them it was fine and proceeded to pay. They have newspapers on the side that you can use to put in ur car so the water from the oysters doesn't get on the car carpet. The oysters were really good and tasted fresh. We ended up killing all 120 oysters last night. Highly recommend this place for oysters. I heard certain hours of the day, the place can be packed so be prepared just in case you can't park inside and have to find street parking.

The garlic fries were cooked to the perfect level of crispiness, while the lobster garlic noodles were flavorful, savory, and packed with garlic goodness. The seafood itself was fresh and good quality, but I found the House Special Mild sauce a little underwhelming. I was hoping for more depth and flavor, but most of what I tasted was a mild kick of heat. While it wasn't bad, it didn't have the rich, buttery, and well-seasoned flavor profile that I typically look for in a seafood boil sauce. Service was great throughout our visit. We were seated promptly, our food arrived quickly, and any requests we had were fulfilled without issue. The staff was attentive and made the dining experience smooth and enjoyable. I also appreciated the restaurant's nautical theme. The decor featured fishing nets, ship-inspired accents, and other sea-themed elements that helped create a fun and immersive atmosphere. Overall, I'm glad we gave this place a try. The garlic noodles and fries were delicious, and the service was excellent. While I would probably choose other seafood boil spots in the future, this was still a solid experience and worth trying at least once.

Can you easily make Bột Chiên at home?…read more Yes with store bought flour cakes. Does it come out bomb? Not if I'm making it! I found Bột Chiên on Yelp trending as a hot and new business. With French and Chinese influences, Bột Chiên is a Viet street food consisting of crispy flour cakes mixed with eggs and served with crack sauce (soy based). Sadly, it doesn't exist in the city (to my knowledge) and the closest thing is at Red Bowl in Daly City. It's alright but not nearly as good as the ones in E Man Jose. It was delicious with the savory, sweet, and tangy crack sauce and đồ chua (pickled carrot + daikon). To nitpick, I wish the flour cakes were hot (seemed like it was cooked ahead).
