4 diners with 4 different entrees. All were amazingly delicious. It became obvious with a moderately small menu that these were going to be the best recipes. Hangar steak, Duck, Salmon, and scallops. I personally had the scallops and I was overwhelmed with the wonderful quality and flavor of the scallops and the presentation with the risotto and wild mushroom soubise. I had never had this flavorful a meal with scallops before. It was delightful. Of course I had a taste of all the entrees - we are a family and shared. All were delicious. The hangar steak would probably be my next favorite meal when I have room to dine again! Service was polite and attentive but not rushed. We took all the time we desired. Meals were prepared to order and delivered hot and very appetizing in appearance. Service was on point - quick, friendly, attentive, charming. Ambiance was lovely and comfortable. Menu was rockin' - hard to decide what to get from the list of scrumptious, tempting options. Coffee was lovely. It did justice to the great PNW. And our cups were always filled by attentive staff. Had me a breakfast cocktail - the prickly pear martini. With booze, I am usually a purist/traditionalist and almost never get fancy/girly menu cocktails offerings. But this was curious... And Dear. Lord. They have a some kind of mixologist genius there. The smoke from the mescal perfectly blended with the fruit and was evened out by the sweetness... served shaken hard so there was a divine smattering of tiny ice chips. Hubby had steak & eggs (FILET MIGON for 22!? Rad.) - the steak was cooked perfectly (which, sadly, seems a rare occurrence these days). His first time with duck eggs' the yolks assisted in highlighting the dish's perfect balance. And the tomatillo salsa is came with was the crown on top, uniting the plate in delicate, spicy (but not too spicy) glory. And I won the order war with my pork tenderloin schnitzel. I went here many years ago when it was a Greek cafe/deli owned by an older couple from Greece. Then it became a fancy restaurant called Willems on Main. Then it changed owners again and became "Elements." The name is well-chosen as each entree has a lot of unexpected elements. I love the forest-themed decor: our table was a sliced log! If your budget allows, be sure to get the crab-n-brie fondue as an appetizer. It's to die for! I enjoyed the sea bass which had fiddlehead fern added as a unique "element." The creme brulee was very rich and one of the best I have ever tasted! Mary, our server, added a personal touch with an anniversary card, making me feel extra special. Had a lovely anniversary dinner here in late June. It's our 4th time dining here and the food is always amazing. We were greeted with an anniversary card at our table. The food was amazing as usual. The vegan wild mushroom and chestnut pate was like nothing I've ever eaten. I could have made a meal out of that alone. Ate brunch here today. First time in this restaurant. Ordered the Pork Schnitzel and it was really delicious. Presentation was excellent same with the food. I would have give 5 stars but I had one issue with the place. I asked if I can sub the eggs included in the breakfast and I was told I can but they did not mention the extra charge that goes with it. I opted for the Portuguese muffin and was happy they can accommodate only to find out that they changed me $5 plus tax to get 1 small piece of muffin (smaller than a regular muffin and tasted like Hawaiin bread). It wasn't anything special. If I knew they would charge me. I wouldn't have subbed it. I guess the eggs cost nothing as I didnt even get any credit for not getting it. I think $5 is too much to charge for 1 small muffin and this kind of ruined my dining experience. Other than this, food was great, service was great. First, we had had a really rough day and forgot to make reservations. Definitely make sure you make reservations! Because it is an intimate space, they do not have a place, like a bar or lobby, for you to sit and have a drink while you wait to be seated. However, at 8 PM on a Saturday night, they were able to seat us within half an hour. And trust, it is worth the wait. The service was a bit slow to start and we waited for drinks for way too long. But again, it was worth the wait! We ordered iced tea and the "Some like it Hot" Spicy Marg both were delightful. The iced teas tasted like actual brewed black tea, not the syrup(thank God). And the Margarita was just the right amount of spice so that you can sip with pleasure. We started with the Crab and Brie Fondue. They bring it with thinly sliced bread which is perfect because, let's be honest, it's just a way to get the crab fondue in the mouth hole. And there's clearly some form of cheese other than Brie included in the fondue, but other than the addition of a little salt and spice, it was a delicious starter. We had the NY Strip au Poivre and Sea Scallops for our main dishes. And dear BABY JESUS was that NY Strip insanely good. Like, it's cooked to perfection. A hot sear on the outside and medium rare pink on the inside. Just enough to cook away the rare flavor but leave the meat tender enough to cut with a fork (why the hell did they bring us that steak knife anyway) and it was served with a pat of smoked leek butter that coated the meat in a beautiful glaze of perfection. The steak was served with a beautiful creamed farro that melted in your mouth. The mushrooms and delicata squash were the perfect accompaniment. We tend to share dishes so that we can try a little of multiple things. And this time the Steak was the winner. As I tried my first bite and it melted in my mouth as a smile grew across my face and I remembered how happy I was that I was not vegan... it definitely stole the show. The Scallops were not to be forgotten though. They were absolutely delicious as well! Soft and tenderly cooked. Naturally sweet, but still topped with kumquat dragon fruit salsa and perfectly paired with a mascarpone and beet risotto that was savory and starkly contrasted by the sweetness of the vanilla bean and saffron cream. The cream and risotto sat on separate sides of the plate, but would have served better to have the cream drizzled over the risotto in order to combine the savory and sweet. However, the presentation of them served separate did allow for an incredibly beautiful plate. As far as the service, our server was polite and did the job well enough: made sure we had what we needed without being overtly in our faces while we dined. All-in-all we WILL be back. But next time we will have a reservation. read more

The old faves like the crab and brie appetizer are still amazing and there are always new things to try either at the chef's whim or because of the changing seasonal ingredients. We've been going since this place was called Willem's and we loved it with the original chef and menu, but the new owner and chef have won us over as well. My wife and I had brunch at Elements earlier today and I left happier and more surprised than I thought. I have read very good things about this restaurant but I found the brunch menu sorely lacking. We only found two things we were interested in (crab cake benedict and french toast). While waiting, I looked at the dinner menu and found many things I would really like to try. I was told that nothing from the dinner menu was available, so it all came down to two dishes and coffee. I was expecting to leave disappointed, but no such thing happened. We will be going back for dinner soon and are both looking forward to it. The place is smaller than I thought it would be, but it is charming, quaint and lovely and they have some seating upstairs. Our waiter was great, attentive but not overbearing. Check the brunch menu before you go and the dinner menu so you can have a better understanding of who they are. read more

The Oysters had a jicama slaw and were served a mignonette that were amazing. I had the Bone in Pork chop which was one of the best pork chops I have ever had. My girlfriend has the beet salad as her appetizer and the scallops, she loved both of them. The chocolate cake was a perfect end. Elements is a really welcoming place to have dinner. The menu has a lot of variety and is incredibly unique in comparison to other local places. We typically eat vegan or vegetarian style food, and this place is very considerate of that and specifically asks if you have any food allergies. The portions are really generous as well, which sometimes is lacking in higher end dining locations. The chef even came out and greeted us when we were done eating. What a delightful little restaurant! It is definitely designed for more intimate meals (date night appropriate) as the majority of the table setups for were 2 people with a handful of tables for 4+. The vibe is very upscale, simplistic but beautiful interior design (think rustic and chic). The service was great --we were seated quickly and the server and hostess were very friendly and prompt. The food was amazing, fresh, locally sourced, and the portions were huge! I had the chefs hash with chorizo, butternut squash, carrots, potatoes, pickled onion, radish, crema (mmmm), queso fresco, cilantro, and tomatillo salsa. It was perfect, so filling, so hearty and delicious. The medium over eggs on top gave just enough yolk to add even more depth to an already incredible dish. My 7 year old got the ricotta pancakes and, at the servers suggestion, all sauces came on the side (great idea!). We all had to try the pancakes, they were incredible. Soft, custardy like texture with a tart lemon curd sauce and a perfectly sweet raspberry compote, it all came together so very well. My partner got the chilequiles and reports he has never had anything like it (a completely leveled up dish). We had a great experience here and will definitely return for dinner soon! read more

Unassuming from the outside but so perfect on the inside. Every staff person clearly knew what to do, there was an ease between everyone that you don't see much anymore. The kitchen is small and run like a well run machine. Everything coming out of the kitchen was beautifully, yet simply plated, and cooked perfectly with great balance of flavors. Chef Sosa put together a Valentine's Day menu that I can only describe as going to the best amusement park you've ever been to. As the courses came in we thought we knew what we would be getting into by the descriptions. I've eaten a lot of great similar food, so I figured the meal would be worth the price. It was actually worth much more because i had no idea it was going to be meal that I will never forget. What we actually got on our plates was gorgeous, then as I tasted the small individual components, I felt like being drawn up to the top of a roller coaster. Everything kept building anticipation and excitement for the one forkful with all the combined elements. Then pure exhilarating bliss. It was like a free fall that kept causing me to say things like, oh my god!, this is so incredible!, and uncontrollably laughing in amazement. The noises were involuntary, like when you're hurdling towards a double loop at 120 mph and things come out of your mouth that you hadn't planned on saying, but they make you feel better to say them. The real highlights were the soup, the scallop, cauliflower steak, the savory panna cotta, pineapple!, fresh sea bass, duck breast surf and turf, fresh black Oregon truffles, and the guava ice cream. All of these things made me feel like when I was 7 and trying cotton candy for the first time, and saying to myself why doesn't everything taste like this magical bite? So if you get a chance, get in and try this chefs work. If you appreciate the hard work and skill that goes into making food like this that is. If you don't see that, you may not understand this labor of love style food. I do, and I'm glad this chef is in Vancouver close to where I live. We came across this restaurant as a highly rated suggestion on Google for a brunch spot near Portland OR, and definitely were not disappointed! The reservation process was not made to be difficult. We were delighted to be greeted and treated with kindness by all the staff we came across, from the lady answering our phone inquiry the day before, to the waitresses taking our order and giving us complimentary champagne on the house to celebrate our anniversary here. The restaurant has a very unique look, with all the beautiful paintings on the wall that were available for purchase. I ordered the steak and eggs with a special request for the eggs to be sunny-side-up, while my partner ordered the shrimp and grits. Both dishes were splendid in both presentation and taste, and the portions were filling without any overwhelming or excessive elements in sight. I was telling my wife how much good service goes into a nice dining experience as I dropped my napkin. Before I could pick it up a member of the staff walking by gave me a new one. After our appetizer I was trying to figure out what silverware to keep for the main course. It wasn't a problem, they cleared the table and brought everything needed for the next course. Both our drinks were perfect. That was maybe the best meal I've ever had.
