We had a great visit, until we were asked to vacate the restaurant because they were closing ‍ What? I guess this is not a place to have a luncheon. Even the person who made the reservations wasn't aware. So that was a bummer. Next, they could not give us individual tickets, it had to be one ticket. Why? Ok. so this is why I gave a 3 Star. Mothers Day Disaster! Blonde woman at hostess desk was horribly rude to every single guest with reservations trying to check-in. For whatever reason, they were not prepared to seat anyone and we all had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. Then, it took 10 minutes for our waiter to acknowledge us & take drink orders which then took 15 minutes more to get our drinks. It was another half an hour before our meals came and one of them was wrong. And the food was sub- par. This place needs a lot of work to get any repeat customers! Such a shame! read more

The general feel here is modern Pacific Northwest feel with lots of wood & floor to ceiling windows with the views of the park. Lots of space to give you ample privacy for a conversation. Service: We we were seated promptly by our friendly hostess and greeted with a cheery smile by our server Sara. All in all my overall impression of the staff was very professional with a positive aura. Food: I ordered the Gray's Omelet, which is basically a build your own omelet. You have a choice of cheese and a choice of 3 items consisting of proteins or veggies. The omelet came with toast and tasty red roasted potatoes. The omelet was nice & fluffy and something I would recommend. My wife ordered the Bacon pancakes. Tip: the pancakes are 3 large pancakes almost the whole circumference of the plate. Here in the Hilton Vancouver hotel for a business meeting, and it's been a long night and day of traveling. Nice to know that I could dine in, room service, or take out. Room service obviously adds several extra charges, so I called down for take out. The order was ready prior to the estimated time, so I got a call to the room. A small wait later, my bag arrived beautifully packaged. The bar was doing a decent business, and a handful of guests were waiting to be seated. Another guest was awaiting take out, like me. What's going on: some tv, in a room that is a bit darkly lit, some regular tables and some bar stool level action. To be fair, I ordered salad and ice cream. See the justification? But ice cream melts...so guess what I devoured first? For $9 (!) and I wish I took a pic (sorry), the almond crusted bowl with a scoop each of sorbet, vanilla, and chocolate ice creams, was enormous! And the scoops (I did not expect this) were full sized! I was so full that my awesome looking, full sized, watercress and roasted beet salad ($19) went into the hotel mini fridge untouched. (I could have added a protein for $7.) (FYI the main entrees of salmon, steak, and the like ran about $30 and up. Ordered a skillet that was packed with flavor and toppings and very good portions. The best thing about it was the fast early morning service with no line as I needed to be somewhere fast and it was great to have over the coffee and pastries. I'm just going to get straight to the point on this review. I brought my husband and kids here for a family dinner in hopes of a treat and something new. I'm giving it an extra star for the server alone. Service was excellent, although food took forever and there were only 10 people in the restaurant including us. Ambiance is nice. The problems..the food was terrible and bland. My 14 year old didn't notice his burger was raw until I spotted it as the raw half stared at me from across the table. I'm appalled he didn't get sick. Not sure what happened to his burger when the others were cooked. The only delicious thing we had was the beet salad. The $33 steak meal was tiny as was the little dessert that came with it. The apple tart was the size of a small biscuit. The totchos had ketchup on them? It was so odd. Price was outrageous for what we got. Will not be coming back and I understand why it was empty now. A perfectly pleasant experience, but not one I'd rush back for. The service was warm and attentive--our server was friendly, efficient, and genuinely made us feel welcome. The plating was lovely, with each dish arriving like a small work of art. Unfortunately, the flavors didn't quite match the presentation. Everything (salads, steak, burger) was... fine. Not bad, not great--just unexceptional. The kind of meal you forget almost as soon as you leave. Our food was good and arrived in decent timely manner. I don't know that we will back in the near future because it was almost an hour's drive for us. Food: Pastries seemed as if they were (at least) a day old. Our meals - aside from arriving less than warm, simply weren't palatable. I ordered the meatless omelette - I had two bites and requested hot sauce. Tried another bite with hot sauce - no improvement. Truthfully, this dish had an *unpleasant taste. Mr. Wonderful ordered the "Chef's Twisted Bennies." He rated his meal a 2 on a scale of 1 to 5. He indicated that it was as described on the menu, but not what he was expecting. It tasted off. Came in for breakfast 2 days while staying in the hotel. Service was fast, food was good Was pretty busy the first day and not so busy day 2. Both times I got the same thing, eggs over easy, ham steak and gluten free bread. Eggs cooked perfectly both days. Ham was excellent and a nice piece. Potato was just meh, but not my thing, maybe someone else would love them. Only issue was toast, day 1 was just warm bread. GF bread is hard to toast, needs a lot of time. Today's lunch was a little disappointing. I ordered the Grilled Salmon BLT, which in the menu is described as including bacon, pimento cream cheese, lemon aioli, and sourdough bread. I was hoping to find a layer of cream cheese in it, but if it was there, it was so thinly spread as to be unrecognizable. For my beverage I ordered Earl Gray tea. Before I realized it, I had open and steeped a bag of Lavender flavored Earl Gray. I wasn't going to send it back at that point, but if I had known it was flavored with lavender, I would NOT have ordered it. We arrived early on a Monday night, and the place was empty, a good sign that the service and kitchen "should" be on point; I was wrong. Our group participated in the "Dine The Couve" program, a three-course dinner consisting of a salad (I chose the Ceaser), a main course (5oz filet with asparagus, and dessert (Mud Pie). I added the Deep Dish French Onion soup because A) I order the soup whenever I can, and B) I was intrigued by the "deep dish" reference. FOOD: - While the soup was good, the concept fell flat: Half a baguet covered in cheese on a shallow plate with some broth just didn't cut it. Simply put, there needed to be more soup. - The salad with (2) croutons had ZERO flavor, was barely dressed, and was sprinkled with the smallest amount of shredded parmesan. I couldn't tell if it was fresh or out of a bag. It was bland. - The main was a 5 oz filet, which must have been weighed before cooking because the finished portion was super small. What killed me was that I asked for the cook to be medium-rare and received a medium cook, and it was cold upon receipt--I had to send it back and wait while the others in my party ate. No excuse, considering we were the only people dining. - The dessert (mud pie) was more like a tart with whipped chocolate filling on top. It had some flavor, but it was so hard to cut that I thought it was going to fly from my plate. SERVICE: As I stated, the place was totally empty; maybe two or three people were sitting at the bar watching MNF. On behalf of the breakfast I had there this morning, there is nothing negative to say about the food, the staff, or the restaurant itself. Was treated first class this morning for breakfast. The two eggs over easy with English muffin, bacon, and potatoes were all 100% superb. The bacon was crisp and fresh. The English muffin was cooked perfectly. The two eggs over easy were exactly how you want them. They even give you fresh jelly, not that canned stuff. The staff was super attendant, providing all the coffee or water at an instant. The root veggie frittata was also pretty amazing. A big portion, prepared exactly the way it's supposed to be. The staff remembered what to put on and what not to put on the frittata. Stopped in on Christmas Day because it was one of the few places open. We only came for dessert but ended up ordering food as well. Our server, Sara, was awesome! So nice and friendly and polite. They didn't have their full menu because they were only doing their holiday menu so we were very limited on options. We ended up getting the burger and fries, the salmon, and of course, our dessert. The salmon was okay, a little dry/over cooked, but the veggies and potatoes were good. The burger and fries were also okay. My fiancé didn't like the fries so he barely touched them. We dined here only one time. I usually give a restaurant 3 visits before I write a review. This was a disappointing experience. Enough that one time was enough. The restaurant atmosphere felt cold and uninviting as well as the actual temperature in the restaurant being way too cold. The food was mediocre, the water tasted like dish soap, and our server did just enough. Every time the door opened it smelled of cigarettes as there were people standing under the cover by the door smoking. Unpleasant to say the least. Maybe takeout from here could be a viable option, but we will definitely not be returning. read more

Rebecca was our waitress and she was so kind and attentive. We ordered the baguettes and prawn skewers as an appetizer. The baguettes were basically three Olive Garden style breadsticks. The butter and black salt were good atleast. I'm offended they served those shrimp skewers. It was the toughest piece of seafood I've ever bit into. Maybe it had been in the freezer for a while and was cooked to long. No flavor, not edible. Rebecca was really sweet and she could pick up on us not being pleased - and kindly took it off the tab and took it back to the kitchen. Ordered the Beef Short Rib entree and I'm really surprised they charged $33 for this. Two and a half cut up potatoes and half a zucchini chopped in a way that it wasn't cooked all the way inside. The meet was flavorful - but it was exactly like a meal I've had at Costco. Ordered the side Mac and Cheese and misread that it was a Gorgonzola Mac and Cheese. WAY too overpowering, the flavor profile was not there for me. Ended the meal with a very basic and bland crime brûlée. Great service, great drinks - food was sub-par. The bar was also empty, even though the single guy in front of us offered to sit there so he could eat (the hostess said it wasn't standard procedure so she couldn't) The wait has been more than 20 minutes and it's nearly 9am (when breakfast ends). I have never been to a hotel breakfast so poorly managed. Ridiculous start to a holiday, happy thanksgiving.. P.S - I really want to highlight how kind and nice the serving staff were.
