    Thai tea and Lychee tea
    Simeon A.

Absolutely incredible staff! I wish we could remember the name of our host (whom I believe owns the restaurant). She was so attentive, kind, and warm--going out of her way so politely to make sure we were enjoying the food, and with humor too! The Pad See Ew was my favorite. But also, the Thai tea and Lychee was just so delicious. Everything was incredible, and at reasonable price. It's a very cute and intimate spot. They deserve so much love and support!

I would honestly rate this place a 2 if I could but they were super nice and friendly and the ambience is cute and the music is fun. The atmosphere is lively. Apparently the music is usually much louder than it was so keep that in mind if you're looking for a place for a date or to catch up with friends. My friend who I was visiting recommended this place and I was super disappointed. As a CA native and someone who has traveled to Thailand and LOVES Thai food more than anything, I cannot in good conscience ever recommend this place to anyone. It is very expensive and super mid. Like, average at best. The pork belly dish I ordered and added a fried egg to per their recommendation was very forgettable and very salty. The rice was hard as if it was from the day before like what you would use to make good fried rice. The egg was the saving grace of the dish but it was still super mid/disappointing. I asked for chilis/chili vinegar or chili powder. They seemed confused by my question but they did bring over chili flakes in chili powder. I'm used to going to thai restaurants that have a spice tray of thai condiments on the tables so it was to my great disappointment that they did not provide much in the way of options. It really could have helped provide a lot more flavor to save the taste of these dishes. I have a Thai friend who has lived in NY for over 10 years and she was telling me during this visit that NY has a ton of Thai restaurants everywhere (you'll notice rather quickly that there are so many but it's definitely quantity over quality) but most of them are so bad. The pad Thai had large shrimp but they were mediocre. I felt like the dish lacked seasoning and the noodles were al dente but closer to the side of being undercooked. The FIRST bite of pad thai that I tried from my friend's dish I crunched into something hard. I thought I bit into a rock. I think it must have been mussel/crab or clam shell because it was extremely hard and gritty when it broke after biting into it. What on earth was that even doing in the middle of the shrimp pad thai dish. I'm done. Cut the show. Girl bye. Tourist trap. Overpriced. Food is hugely disappointing.

Oh my goodness! What a fabulous place! I was looking for a last minute reservation for 7 people on a Saturday night, and when this place was available, I was suspicious, but booked it because of the great reviews. And I'm so glad I did! Came here to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday who was in town from Turkey. The decor - so cool! I loved the large wall murals and the welcoming, homey vibe. The service - Kay is my new best friend. I'm coming back for her specifically. The FOOD! Oh my goodness. Over the top amazing. Bursting with flavor. We tried a large portion of the menu, including the papaya salad, the duck curry, the skewers... everything was so good that I have already ordered delivery from here since we came. My only advice is to ask them to course the food, or to order the mains after you are done with the first course. The food comes out fast and we felt a bit rushed, but overall it was a great experience. Highly recommend!

Just steps from a popular Brooklyn sightseeing spot, this Thai spot blew us away. The food was incredible, and the staff at City were so friendly, giving us some amazing dish recommendations. Don't miss their mango Thai tea--beautifully presented and absolutely delicious!

Voted one of the Top 10 Best New Restaurants in the US by USA Today (2024) -- and honestly, it makes perfect sense. Every dish feels intentional, vibrant, and uniquely crafted. And the presentation? Absolutely stunning! The crispy tuna salad with mango is a must-order -- delicate, crunchy tuna served with a vibrant mango, chili sauce. It's such a unique dish, unlike anything I've tried before. The kanom jeen soft shell crab is just as impressive. Silky rice noodles come with rich green curry sauce. The contrast of textures is unreal. Then there's the Dumbo Jumbo steak -- thick, beautifully seared, and unbelievably juicy. The garlic herb fish is fragrant, flaky, and coated in a sauce that's aromatic and deeply flavorful without overpowering the freshness of the fish. From the first bite to the last, everything delivered. Bold Thai flavors, elevated and unforgettable. This spot is definitely my new favorite! It truly lives up to the Top 10 title! Overall, the food was good and the ambiance is nice. However, the service was lackluster and our food came out in the wrong order and pretty slowly. It was also hard to flag down servers, which we had to do a couple times due to the wait or because necessary utensils were missing from our dishes. The coconut mocktail and coconut cocktail (served in an elephant glass) were delicious. I also enjoyed my duck khao soi. The steak and chicken dumplings were OK. We really wanted to try the mango sticky rice but the staff told us the mangos were sour that day (we appreciated the honesty). Will have to come back for that another time and enjoy it outside!

As I walked my 10,000 steps by the Brooklyn Bridge Park waterfront, I built up an appetite and decided to go into Elephant District. I've been curious about this place for quite some time and I usually dine alone when I'm just doing my thing. Kay, the hostess, provided a warm welcome and allowed me plenty of time with the menu. I ordered some of my faves from any Thai restaurant- Kari Pap, Chicken Pad Thai & a Thai iced tea as my beverage of choice. They do serve adult beverages as well and they all looked delicious as well- I just wanted to stick to my basics. The food was delicious and I highly recommend their Chicken Pad Thai, perfect mix of sweet, savory and tangy (I like mine with extra lime). The Kari Pap (Puffs) were a bit crispier rather than flaky crispy, however, they were still delicious. The Thai Iced Tea balanced beautifully between the ratios of tea and condensed milk. The ambience is brilliantly done with beautiful velvet royal blue chairs that uplifts your mood along with the colorful fresh flowers on the table. They have a gorgeous bar area as well. If you're in the area and want something other than pizza or burgers, this is a great sit down meal spot. They have a clean bathroom as well in this high touristy area. Hope you get to enjoy it as well!

Elephant District is a cute little Thai spot in Dumbo. I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed. Definitely a good sign, and honestly, it was worth the wait. My mom and I ended up sitting outside, which worked out perfectly. The place has a really nice vibe super friendly staff, great cocktails, and tasty food. I can only image how this spot might look at night, especially under the bridge. Every dish we tried was on point. Everything looked great, tasted amazing, and felt like real effort was put into it. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. We started with the Mango Thai Iced Tea and a Lychee cocktail both were so good we ordered a second round without thinking twice. For food, we kept it simple with Basil Fried Rice, Thai Fried Rice, and some steamed dumplings. Took about 20 minutes, which was fine, especially since we saw some of the more complex dishes taking longer. This is definitely a great spot to enjoy with loved ones, a group, solo, or even on a date. That said, it's a pretty small place so if you're planning to go with more than one person, I highly recommend making a reservation. It fills up fast. Most likely if you show up you might have to wait. I mean it.

Great addition to Dumbo. I love how they played on Dumbo's elephant mascot as the name and theme of the restaurant. Came here at 5pm on a weekday and we were the only party there so far. The server, I'm assuming one of the owners, explained some of the specials to us. Sadly they did not have their signature elephant dessert available that day. We ordered some drinks and some dishes to share. The cocktail drinks were really pretty and photo worthy. The basil fried rice was delicious. Food overall was delicious. However, I was a bit turned off by the service, despite everyone's positive reviews. We ordered drinks first and after the first round we were given our check. We still wanted to order more rounds and food after so we felt like we were rushed to leave although the restaurant was barely full at that point. This is one of the only Thai restaurants in the neighborhood now so it's a good option to have though.

Elephant District in Dumbo is honestly such a gem. Great food, cool setup, and you're basically right next to the Brooklyn Bridge -- can't beat that. The Lobster Pad Thai is a whole moment... they literally give you an entire lobster on top and it tastes amazing. The moo ping pork skewers are super tender and packed with that smoky flavor that makes you want another order. And the curries here? So good. Each one hits differently, but all of them were rich, flavorful, and super comforting. The Khao Soi Duck was definitely a standout. Drinks are also really solid -- fun cocktails that match the food perfectly. The inside has this cute elephant theme going on, so it's one of those places that just feels good to sit in.

Had to celebrate the season finale of White Lotus somehow! My partner and I were out for a walk and chose to swing by Elephant District, which has been on our list of restaurants to try since it opened. We each got a round of drinks, and of course, I got a Thai Iced tea.. soo yummy without being too sweet. We ordered a few apps - the crab salad was delicious with a great spice. Pork skewers good too. We chose to split some entrees too, the crab fried rice some of the best I've had in the city. Khao soi was great but I wish it had a little more protein. Our server, K, provided great recommendations. You could tell its a more local, family owned spot!

got a reservation on Valentine's Day at Elephant District. They were busy but had us seated on time. We ordered the crying tiger steak and the pork skewers. Loved both of them! Really well cooked and served with amazing fresh dipping sauces. They had a selection of cocktails and I ordered a pink one that was delicious. The decor was a little funny, the walls are covered in AI elephant art. But they had sweet small bouquets at every table

Loved that every table had fresh flowers; you can tell they really care about the little details. We ordered quite a bit and honestly, everything was on point: · Lychee Thai Iced Tea & Yuzu Pop - both refreshing and not too sweet (huge plus for me since I don't have a big sweet tooth). · Moo Ping - solid start to the meal. · Salmon Mango (GF) - the salmon was cooked through (which I asked for), and the mango salad underneath was light and tangy. The sweet fruit with the savory fish worked way better than I expected. · Pineapple Fried Rice - came with shrimp, nice wok aroma, and that perfect sweet-tangy pineapple kick. · Pineapple Lychee Crispy Duck (GF) - duck skin was nice and crispy, and the coconut-based sauce with lychee and pineapple kept it from feeling heavy or greasy. · Branzino Chili Lime (GF) - came out piping hot, classic Thai-style sour broth that paired perfectly with the fish. No fishy taste at all, and the texture was tender. Even the drinks and dessert weren't overly sweet, which was a pleasant surprise. Pad Kee Mao (aka Drunken Noodles), chicken $15.00 Stir-fried flat rice noodle, bamboo shoots, garlic, basil, fresh chili, onion, carrot, string bean, bell pepper, long hot chili The flat rice noodle quantity was sufficient, but minimal and there were too much onion, insufficient string bean, two paucity pieces of carrot. I dislike bamboo shoot which is not a standard ingredient for this particular entrée. I think the bamboo shoot tainted this entrée. I am a traditionalist conservative which bean sprouts is a good substitute variation for bamboo shoot vegetable including string bean. This entrée is my favorite default and as a caveat, if any Thai restaurant or cafe do not offer on their menu I refuse entry to patronize. This entrée enticed my interest and embedded the lunch meal menu for the reasonable price. I personally despise and do not consume spicy hot foods, but occasionally consume mild or very mild in the smallest measurement of the Scoville scale which I specifically requested, but received medium hot spicy. The waitress forewarned me the intense heat level on the Scoville scale as Thai cultural spicy with two or more bird's eye chilies for a high level of spiciness. The spiciness of chili peppers were, in my opinion, medium spicy. Despite the intense medium heat spiciness, the stir-fried noodles lacked flavor with, tender chicken, minimal vegetables, and Thai basil in a bland taste. I wish I chosen shrimp as the protein. Pad Kee Mao sustained my hunger pangs and ate my fill. When eating Thai intense heat spicy foods, I visualize to think of the TV segment "Niall Horan & James Corden Take On Hot Wings" on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in March, 2020. High heat spicy foods! Thai ice tea, large $3.00 This was a delight and neutralized the heat spiciness because it contains milk. It was served chilled in a large highball glass. Samyan is a Thai cafe located in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, NYC and accessible via MTA NYC Transit C local train at Clinton-Washington subway station. This cafe is a independently owned and operated, thankfully. The waitress did check-in with me during my meal for attentive customer service. The atmospheric conditions were a simple small dine-in cafe. There were many paintings, portraits hanging on their walls of white subway tiles. Gold metallic metal chopsticks and fork are provided. If utensils are gold then the interior cafe should contain these "gaudy" feature extensive gold elements, including gilded moldings and furniture. Peony rose are very simply and made pretty table centerpiece decorations. Takeout menu and business cards are available for grabs. I did received my sales receipt. At the bottom of the sales receipt there is a suggested gratuity in intervals of 18%, 20% and 22% where customers do not have to perform math calculation. I paid $23.00 in cash as the waitress' informative knowledge of the ingredients and preparation of the heat level on the Scoville scale.

Where can I even start with this restaurant…read more.. My girlfriend picked this spot to end our date night, and boy did she choose a gem. From the initial hospitality, to the last bite, everything was a 10 out of 10, and I say that sparingly when dining out. For the drinks we went with a Thai Iced Tea and Key Lime Thai Iced Tea. The Thai Iced Tea was amazing, though a tad sweeter than what we were used to. Nonetheless it was still a great palette cleanser in between dishes. Now that Key Lime Thai Iced Tea was DIFFERENT. Upon sipping, you get hit with a nice tart sweetness from the key lime that is met immediately with the smooth creaminess from the Thai iced tea. The combination worked so perfectly I had to force myself to not finish the drink before the dishes arrived to the table. 10/10, I don't want to drink another drink again if it's not that one. For starters we had the Chicken Curry Puffs and Calamari. The curry puffs were perfectly fluffy with the nice earthy, sour, spicy, sweet umami flavor of the curry filling, which they did not skimp on. The Calamari was also perfectly crispy and salted, and went really well with the peanut tamarind sauce that came with it. 10/10 For the main courses we ordered the Tom Yum Crab Fried Rice, Braised Spicy Basil Duck, and Spicy Holic Noodle. Firstly, the portions were massive. For perspective, I'm 6'2 230lbs and can eat a good amount, but even after sharing each dish with my girlfriend the plates looked barely eaten. We did not complain about having leftovers though. The Tom Yum Crab Fried Rice came with a massive pile of lumped crab meat, which was probably the most crab I've ever received for this dish from other restaurants. The dish was well-balanced and provided a nice sourness that was unexpected but tasty. 9.5/10 only because I wish it was a tad spicier from the Tom Yum spices. The Braised Basil Duck was probably my favorite dish of the night. The duck was juicy and tender and still had a little crisp on the skin despite being covered in spicy basil sauce. The dish was also very balanced and had a great helping of duck and bell peppers, which added great texture and soaked up all of that sauce. 10/10 The final dish, Spicy Holic Noodles, was also a favorite of mine. The chicken was tender and flavorful, and the thin rice noodles soaked up all of the spicy sauce and added a nice chewy texture to the dish. The string beans were also nice and crunchy and added more playfulness to the texture of the dish. 10/10 This is definitely a great spot for date nights, gatherings with friends, or even a solo date. The space is intimate, but not too overwhelming for people who aren't fond of large crowds. I'll definitely be back and would recommend everyone visit at least once.

My partner was running late, and even though the place is clearly very popular right now, they still accommodated us with a table. The staff explained every unfamiliar dish we asked about, always with a smile. I usually avoid the standard NYC Thai restaurant lineup of pad thai + generic curry situations and look for places that feel more regional and authentic. The menu here had a bunch of dishes I didn't recognize, which immediately made me excited. They even have a spice guide though the icons don't necessarily mean increasing spice levels. As I understood it, different symbols represent different types of heat. Three chili emojis and three meteor emojis may be equally spicy, but they hit differently. They recommended not to order the pad krapow nuer, and honestly, fair enough. Instead, we got the chicken khao soi, which was far better than versions I've had elsewhere - deeply flavorful, spicy, rich with umami. My partner was crying. I, meanwhile, was at "this is perfect and I'm having a great time." One Huge chunk of chicken cooked exactly right. Mix everything thoroughly before eating. Then came the kua kling which arrived with another warning. That dish became my personal challenge to impress the server, and apparently I succeeded because now they've promised that next time they won't discourage me from ordering the nuer. They kept refilling cabbage and cucumber for us to cool down from the heat. The kua kling itself was incredible. That dry curry heat was everything. It builds slowly, then suddenly punches you in the face - but alongside all that spice is an insane amount of flavor. They also recommended to order a non-spicy side dish to have a balanced meal and spice level, but we skipped it because it would've been too much food. Honestly, this is the kind of place where going with at least four people is ideal so you can try more dishes and balance the spice levels. And if you're unsure what to order, trust the servers - their recommendations were spot on. Also: really great ciders and beers. We were really happy with both choices. Overall, even though it's far from the city for me, I'd absolutely go back.

Newsflash: Ugly Baby is back on its bullshit. Ugly Baby's…read moreconceit, if you can call it that, was that it was really, really spicy. Spicy food, in case you didn't know, connotes authenticity. Call it suffering for beauty, in a culinary wrapper. Ugly Baby took this S&M theater to its logical conclusion in all regards: tuck it in an inaccessible corner of South Brooklyn; use tiny chairs and brusquely inform diners they have an hour start to finish at their table. The more inconvenient it was, the better. I held my applause after my single visit to Ugly Baby, which closed amidst wails and lamentation last year from people who liked rough treatment. But something drew me back to this reincarnation, started by the same people. Maybe, I thought, they'd found a way to bring us that magnetic authenticity, and hold the ball gags and chain flails? The answer is no. I should have known from the name alone: another mysterious two-word phrase (both of whose words again end in -y) that sounds like it could be an overly literal translation of some ineffable Thai concept. I should have known when it opened in the same godforsaken corner of ... what is that? Gowanus? I should have known from the protracted negotiations for a suitable table that followed when my husband, mom and I arrived punctually for our 5:30 reservation and were primly informed we'd be squeezing onto a two top, then were refused an obviously empty three-top ("it's reserved"....oh you mean by a party of three with a reservation like us?), and then grudgingly seated at a four-top, half of which was literally in the kitchen. I should have known after being apprised that "you have one hour at the table." I should have known when there were no appetizers or desserts, and only two vegetarian entrees. This is the same thing as before. We're so back, baby. The mushroom curry, with its single fire emoj, was nowhere near the spiciest thing on the menu, but gosh was it still spicy. How do they make food with such complex flavors that's still hot enough to have emanated from the bowels of hell? It has to be one of the best curries I've had. It's a talent, special even, but it could easily coexist without Hungry Thirsty's other downsides. But I think all those inconveniences and discomforts are the point. They serve to reinforce the specialness of the special parts, counterintuitively increasing your mental investment in internally extolling Hungry Thirsty's virtues. They are to each element what spice is to food: it hurts, and you're proud that it hurts. It all adds up to the second coming of Ugly Baby, and why wouldn't it? Enough people liked being slapped around; maybe they felt like they deserved it. You know if that's you or not.
