Always a good dinner here at Elephant sushi. Everything is super fresh and delicious. I really like the Hyde location, because it's more intimate. But we went to the Grove street one this time because there were 5 of us. Our server - Brian was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Thanks!

Highly recommended! Great location, impressive ambiance, and good service. The food was amazing. Must try it -- it was mouth-watering. We'll definitely be back!

I will not be able to write a review that actually does this place justice. We had a late reservation and we were still treated like royalty. Brian was our server and he was amazing! We sat at the bar and started with a cup of the regular miso soup. Don't cheat your self and miss out on this course. The soup is the definition of richness and umami. It actually has a finish like wine does. Next we had the special if A5 Kobe and uni. The sushi chef advised us to tear it in on bite and not to use soy sauce. He was spot on. Next we had broiled hamachi and it was incredible. Don't skip on eating the skin. We had two rolls but the winner was the spider. Even after we paid and they we clearly closing Brian chatted us up and made some recommendations on where to go in the city tomorrow.

Came here on a Wednesday and the vibe was super cute, cozy, aesthetic, and perfect for a casual night out in Hayes Valley. The drinks were actually really good and probably the highlight. We ordered the hamachi roll and the red dragon roll both were fine, but nothing super memorable. The "chips and dip" was honestly kind of weird and not what we expected, so probably wouldn't order that again. Overall, great spot for drinks and ambiance, but the food was just okay. Would come back to hang, maybe not specifically for the sushi.

beautiful restaurant, conveniently located at the corner of Gough and Grove, just 2 blocks from SF City Hall. super fresh ingredients, all the sashimi and sushi rolls were excellent. The shrimp tempuras were lightly battered and large, very tasty. Waitress was new to us but efficient and attentive, making our evening more enjoyable.

The vibes were super good and the drinks were spectacular. Tbh I couldn't tell u what rolls we got but they were great. My friend's roll was lit on fire for 8 minutes it was super silly and cool. Service was great as well. Would def come back.

Came here for dinner on a Wednesday night at 7:30. Service was great and our waiter was really quick with everything even though the place got busy. Everything we ordered on the menu was very good and the fish was fresh. The portions aren't that big though. I really enjoyed the hamachi truffle. This was my favorite on the menu! The truffle on top paired really well and gave a umami flavor to the fish. The wagyu nigiri was delicious and we wanted to order more. The cocktails we ordered were delicious. I enjoyed the hello kitty martini which was just a lychee martini. The place was pretty lit up and there are booths in the back. There were a lot of people on dates or celebrating something.

Came here on a Friday night with some friends and a table cancelled so we were seated pretty quickly. Otherwise I would recommend making reservations or getting on waitlist early as there is usually a lot of people trying to eat here. The restaurant is really pretty with high ceilings and large windows and a great ambiance. We ordered their signature flaming seabass roll, which is lit on fire and cooked in foil on your table. Also tried the omakase nigiri tasting, which comes with 10 pieces, and hello kitty drink aka lychee martini. Food and service are both pretty good. Recommend giving them a chance if you're craving good Japanese food at a place with amazing vibes!

Came to try out a new sushi place with friends! The service was good - I liked how they gave us wipes for our hands, and the ambiance was great as well too. I liked the modern decor and the lighting! The food was very good as well. The soft shell crab was fried perfectly. It was so crunchy, and there was a decent amount of meat as well. I got the whiteout roll myself, and the fish was seared well, having a good smoky flavor. The pieces were also big, packed with fish. The seafood was all very fresh as well. My friends got the spicy salmon roll and the red dragon roll, and they enjoyed their food very much as well. Definitely an overall 10/10 experience! Overall, I would definitely come back again, and try new dishes! :)

Came here for SF Restaurant Week (late review, I know..) after seeing the positive reviews here. Honestly, the presentation was pretty but the food was alright. I was a little disappointed. The best part of the meal were the three appetizers on the platter. The sashimi and nigiri were quite fishy to me. The rolls were okay, nothing special. The dessert was a strawberry panna cotta, that came with a cute squishy. The restaurant is pretty and has a nice ambiance. The staff also explained each of the dishes when they came out which was quite nice. Overall, not bad. I just don't think it was worth $75 per person.

This is a solid spot for fresh, creative sushi in a modern and clean setting. Parking was surprisingly easy, which is always a plus. They offer a happy hour from 5-6 pm, but the selection felt limited--just four drinks and about four food items. The sushi we ordered was definitely fresh, but it could've used more seasoning. The spicy tuna and spicy hamachi had plenty of heat, but lacked depth in flavor. The salmon kama was juicy but a bit bland, and the "Couple of Babes" hand rolls we tried also needed more seasoning to really stand out. Mocktails were okay--the spritzes were refreshing, but nothing too memorable. Prices are on the higher side, but the service was friendly and efficient, which helped round out the experience.

It was right before the opera. We couldn't get any table near the opera house. This was the only restaurant that had seats for us. The Japanese food is fusion style. The service is horriable. The lady who served us seemed so upset at all time. The price is definitely on the higher end. I would not go back

We had a great time at elephant Sushi. The staff is friendly and the space is modern but warm. The tables are very well separated that it does not feel cramped. We enjoyed everything we tried. The appetizers and the rolls were superb. I loved the tuna and chips cup. It's on the higher end of pricing but nothing more than most SF locations. We will be back

Friendly, great banter, helpful throughout the escape. The escape game is split across multiple rooms with a good diversity of puzzles. Don't want to spoil too much here but they were good challenges. Drinks we incorporated throughout and presented like test tubes that were drinkable in a gulp, kind of like a cocktail shot. Personally, I found the first two drinks to be a bit too sweet, but I liked the third, which was coconut forward. The price is definitely a bit more costly. It was $100/person for a party of five. I understand that it was an escape room + the staff + the cocktails. If you max out the party size, it's about $85-ish per person which I think is pretty solid. Still very unique and fun and glad I got to try it

The mushroom bahn mi sliders were amazing - the quality fillings and taste of the soft bun - I was unexpectedly hit with a bite of spice from maybe jalapeño seeds left but didn't sour my experience. The shishito peppers ended up being extremely spicy as well, those are usually just a few spicy and not the majority. The roasted lemon and salt was a wonderful combo but just too spicy to eat. However, the server very kindly removed it from our bill without us asking. We order the crostini because we were still hungry and that was an absolute hit. Delicious med-soft crostini with luscious berries and sweet honey. I didn't care my hands got sticky as it was soooo good! Great experience, I would be weary if the peppers as I'm a bit spice-intolerant but everything else was spot-on.
