First and foremost, this place is really good and satisfied my sweet tooth just fine. The cupcakes are amazing, along with the fried empanadas and the kilaguen. So the food is definitely not the reason I'm giving this place 3 stars... I drive past it every morning before work, and always tell myself I'm going to stop by. And well.. Today I finally did. I got off work a little early, so I picked up my daughter from my moms and decided to take her for a little treat. We walk inside and it's completely empty, maybe after a couple of seconds of browsing a man comes out from the back and asks what we wanted. No greet, no smile.. Just a simple what can I get you. Maybe he looked at me and thought "look at this sixteen year old girl with a baby", which I get a lot. I ask for a fried empanada, he says with a straight face that it would take 13minutes, which was completely fine. I also ordered a guava and a pistachio cupcake. Once again he looks at me as I hold my daughter and says... "Just so you know, there are nuts in the pistachio cupcake, in case the baby may be allergic". That statement just altered my entire mood. As if I would give my daughter something she is allergic to, as if you would have to tell me a pistachio is in fact a nut.. I'm 23 years old with a daughter, and that may be young. But I am not incompetent, nor would I give my child something that would be harmful to her. Basically? This place is an amazing bakery, but the customer service is horrible. read more

I had drove approximately 30 minutes from my stay up in Pleasonton, CA. The place has enough parking. It is an average bakery place. They had different types of goodies from the Philippines and Guam. I ordered about $20 of their coconut tatiyas for $1 each. Coconut custard pie - not sure of price at the moment. $20 of their empanada for $2 each fried. $15 of their empanada frozen for about $1.50 each. The buchi buchi was different from what I had tried on Guam. I prefer the buchi buchi on Guam. I spent about $150 here. For the taste of Guam food not being close by, I would have to go to this place. However, the price is somewhat high compared to what I had bought on Guam. But the taste brings you back to the feeling of the Guamanian food on the islands. read more

I remember going to Elite Bakery next to St. Anthony's in Tamuning after church, growing up on Guam. It was a real treat. Now after all these years, there is one located in the bay. I've had the opportunity to taste and buy their empanadas and they are the best next to what I've had as a child growing up on Guam. The chicken kelaguen and Guava cake are delicious. I bought a mango cake yesterday, and I asked the clerk if the filling had mango in it or the cake itself was mango flavor, and she said both. Got home and had a piece, there was no mango in this cake whatsoever!!! The filling was plain whipped cream and topped with some unknown flavor yellow gel on top!! Cake was moist but flavorless! Where is the mango??? $30 for a flavorless cake with whipped cream, I could have make that st home myself for $10. read more

My son's school has an annual cultural week. This year, his class chose Guam, our home, as their country. This meant we had to have some real Chamorro food to serve. I didn't have time to cook enough food so we looked for an authentic Guamanian bakery and found Elite Bakery. Ken and his sister are awesome and the food is great! The kids plowed through the empanadas and the latiya was perfect! Even a 4-year old boy said "this tastes better than chocolate" while eating the latiya. The options in the books they had were the exact sames one I had seen in Safeway's bakery that I had been to previously but DOUBLE the price. This bakery is a pure rip off. First of all, their baker has a big time attitude and thinks that he is a top chef in the world. He is rude, and thinks that you have to work on his time and not his clients time. Second it is overly price, third the decors we provided and some were not return. If my sister didn't talk to this troll in the first place I would have went somewhere else. The cake is ok not that great, the decors my wife have provided which is f up. Went to this place to surprise my hubby for Valentine's day after seeing all the good reviews on Yelp. My hubby loves tropical fruits so I knew instantly this would be the perfect place. I got him four different cupcakes; guava, mango, pistachio, and coconut. I love how this place has flavors that are nowhere near typical. I love trying new things. I also got two of the latiya, which my hubby devoured in less than a minute. It was so delicious. It was the perfect dessert. It wasn't too sweet, just right. The sponge cake, flan, and cinnamon accommodated each other perfectly. Next time I will buy him the whole thing instead of a little piece. The cashier was so sweet and friendly. My experience at Elite bakery caused a lot of grief. I would have given it no star but Yelp is forcing me to give it a 1 star. I placed my order in perfectly fine American English. The lady who took my order cannot tell the difference between mango mousse and mango cake. I ultimately told her to just give me ube cake with whip cream, but she continued to ask me if I meant to order mousse or I want to upgrade to butter cream which supposed to be standard. It was a bit frustrating for me to place my order and I think the process should be made less painful...After 15 minutes of frustration, I decided to close the conversation and drive to SF to pick up a cake from Schubert's which ends up being more convenient... read more

My family and I are huge fans of Elite bakery. I am so happy to be able to tast some Chamorro treats so close to home. We have been frequently visiting the bakery to pick up some of their yummy spicey chicken empanadas and have tasted some of their desserts as well. I tried their pumpkin filled empanadas for the first time this past Thaksgiving, along with their sugar cookies, and Guguria. I don't eat sweets often at all but every now and then if I allow myself I like to stop by and indulge in some of theirs. My son is half guamanian so I'm glad he is also able to try and enjoy some of the food. I have not found another local shop nearby, so finding this one is definately a treat. We also recieve great service from the staff every time we stop in. They are very welcoming. read more

I drive from San Jose to Union City just to get some empanadas and asparagus biscuits, when my mom and aunties don't have any empanadas laying around for me of course. The empanadas are so good..I also come for the packaged goods I used to eat on Guam. I've tried their kelaguen and wasn't really a fan but I'm very picky about my kelaguen so I don't blame them. The rosketi and latiya are decent but again I'm used to my mom and grandmas version. All in all, Elite is worth a try. read more

This bakery features Filipino and Guamanian bakery treats - and they can also cater birthday cakes and cupcakes for your birthday. This bakery branch has a lot of options for the Filipinos like ordering birthday cakes depending on what flavor you order because the price varies. For example, for a half sheet cake of chocolate or vanilla -- it is $25 and for other exotic and special flavors like guava, ube, etcetera -- it cost $40. I bought their pan de sal for the thanksgiving but I was craving it for breakfast. This bread is the best, in terms of brand. I always go for this brand. They also serve pies either in whole or in slices like apple, pumpkin, buko, custard. Then they have their signature guava chiffon slice, mango chiffon slice and ube chiffon slice. They have piyaya(burnt sugar molasses,or munggo), bunuelos (fried donuts), hopia (munggo, baboy, red bean) flavors. They also serve some Guamanian treats like Guamanian empanadas, etcetera -- I saw this on the neon blackboard -- but there were a note above it that it will be ready for 15 minutes. The cashier was very nice and accomodating, and gave us a business card whenever we want try these Guamanian treats. We can call them to order and they can make it for us until it is ready for pick-up. Next time- I will do that. They also offer cupcakes, siopao, serve coffee and tea -- if you want to eat there. They have one table next to the fridge with 2 chairs, and they have 6 chairs -- if you are waiting for your order. I tried they pork (baboy) hopia -- I liked their crust and it felt like when eating hopia at Binondo, Manila. I just forgot the Chinese bakery when I went there. It almost taste like either Holland or the other competing brand. But the pork filling is on the sweet side. But I enjoyed it for a snack with some tea. This is 85 cents ($0.85). I bought the pan de sal -- this is always available in the Filipino household either for breakfast, merienda, snack or maybe special occassions. So far this is the best pandesal brand because it almost taste like home country or any Filipino bakery. I bought the piyaya -- but will eat it as a snack some other time. The bakery treats will range from $0.85 to $40 - just depends on the size and type of pastries and cakes you buy. I wish I had their menu -- so that way when I shop for groceries -- I know what to get. Next I will definitely buy the guava and mango chiffon slices. Service is a 5 because the cashier is nice, accomodating and very knowledgeable of the products she sells. You can call them ahead of time to pick up a cake and try their Guamanian treats. Ambience is 4 -- the location is big which is like a showroom of cakes -- but glad I came in because they serve pies, cakes, chiffon slices, Filipino and Guamanian island delicacies. It is so fun to discover and shop when you can buy regional delicacies. read more
