I stumbled upon this incredible gem of a coffee shop, bakery, breakfast and lunch eatery. I highly recommend it the service was beautiful. The atmosphere is great inside and out. I had one of the almond sourdough croissants lovely they have a wonderful, organic maple coffee. I had a cappuccino version of that incredible are the soup of the day was absolutely astonishing and I had a market salad. Wonderful very fresh. The breakfast was delicious. By the time we got to the cashier (long line - 10:30 am) most of the breads and croissants were sold out. I got to taste the sourdough croissant, which was excellent.The atmosphere is indicative of the level of attention to detail in each and every aspect, of the restaurant. The food overall was good - nothing special. When the food arrived it was a little cold and no condiments were provided you requested - they only offered ketchup. Additionally, the banana iced latte lacked flavor and felt more like I was drinking sweet water. The ambiance of place is neat, but there was no signage to indicate where to find the menu and later order as a new customer. I'm so grateful for whoever decided to open this place! It feels like you are walking straight into a European cafe/bakery. Super clean ingredients, very tasty coffee, and almost everything here is imported. They mill their own flour, roast their own coffee, seems like everything is made in house! Ambiance is very chill, the color palette is very comforting, all soft white/tan/browns. The back patio is very cozy with trees and vines providing great shade while tables are scattered throughout. The breakfast was unbelievable, I had the creamed spinach. Seemed like everything was very high quality! And to top it off, free valet! I didn't even have to park my car. All in all, it felt like a very humbly luxurious experience, and I can't wait to go back! read more

Yes this is another aesthetic OC Bakery/Coffee shop, however the meaning and intention behind this carefully curated sanctuary is to reconnect with the value of whole organic foods. America has succumbed to the culture of "gluten free" because of the hmos we put into our flour creating an epidemic of gluten sensitive individuals. But Eller bakery incorporates the European practices of baked goods and wholesome sourcing that creates food with intention with a foundation of sourdough and refined sugar free pastries. First time I went (breakfast) I thought it was spectacular. 2nd time (lunch) - I was disappointed. Had a scone- it was super dry- so sent it back- the next one was better but still very dry! The soup was super delicious and the sandwich was just ok. For a $75 lunch for 3 - I expected better. The bathroom didn't have Ass Gaskets ( toilet seat covers) - Big NoNo for an upscale restaurant. The esthetics are deceiving. Cute place but food was not up to standards with so many good breakfast restaurants in the area. Over priced for portion size, coffee cups are small and it's not great. Cinnamon roll was cold and hard, not what we were looking for. My sister and I were so excited for this place and unfortunately we will not return. I'm very sad to say I'm dissatisfied with the service here. No one was welcoming and it took about 15 minutes to get our coffee because there is only one person making coffees while 3 other people stand and talk. After 15 minutes of standing at the coffee bar, we finally spoke up and they said they didn't see our order, then came back saying they've been having technical issues. The girls who helped at the bar were very nice but sad that it took us asking instead of them checking on customers. On the other hand the two stars would only be for the bakery. The pastries were super good. Too bad the service was below standard. read more

Got there by 9am, waited in line 50 minutes and there was only a handful of baked goods left. Tasty, yes. But the whole experience, on a Sunday at least, was not great. This is a new bakery cafe that has just recently opened on Placentia Ave. in Costa Mesa. They took over several suites to make a really nice space where they will have lots of freshly baked breads and such. They will be roasting their own coffee and milling their own flour. I visited recently and had a Scandinavian cardamon roll which was pretty delish. This should be a very welcome addition to a transitioning neighborhood on the west side of Costa Mesa. read more

Went for breakfast on a busy Saturday, one has to valet even though the spots are about a 10 ft walk from the building. The whole cafe is gorgeous, the open kitchen is bustling and the patio is a great atmosphere. Unfortunately that's where the good ends. The baked goods were forgettable, we ordered a cinnamon roll, banana bread, and a kanelbullar. While all these were very pretty, they were rather dry and the flavors not very rich. The coffee was also disappointing, the lattes were too milky and my espresso was clearly not pulled properly and tasted like a shot of lemon juice, not great for a place that claims to roast and brew their own coffee. I love a light roasted espresso with some acidity, but this was not that. My friends enjoyed their omelette and croissant sandwich, and I did like my fermented oats. Fellow customers seemed more interested in photographing themselves and the food to care how it tasted, though, so if that interests you this might be your spot. Rating Eller 3 stars because the atmosphere is truly pleasing, but the food and drinks do not live up to the price and look better than they taste. read more

Ambiance, near a 10. Minimalist, calm, clean, a tiny bit sterile. Service, excellent, everyone was very nice. Ordering is a bit odd, order at the counter, then get an assigned table, coffee is ordered at the same counter as everything else, though it has its own counter. We got the rundown from the host about the ethos and war on unnatural things, which I support. Food, if you made it this far: this is where the quirks begin. The latte stuff is great, really great, and they are going to start v60 pour over soon. Items we had: Apple scone - Not a scone. Bran muffin top with apple hint, not featured, needs more fat to combat dryness, great crisp exterior. French toast - Not French toast. Lemon chiffon pound cake with a shape like 2-3" thick French toast. Should be custard soaked day old bread. Benedict - sweet sausage (not appealing due to sweetness), excellent hollandaise (bright and perfectly unbroken), poached egg done perfectly. The English muffin like thing (labeled a biscuit) is a little off texturally, again, oddly sweet, again, absolutely not a biscuit. Needs accoutrement to be a breakfast. Maybe a basil micro-salad or something dressed with hollandaise; I dunno. So overall, nothing bad per se, just texturally unexpected and all things have a bit too much sweetness for our palate. Items should just be labeled as what they are; should be easy and would communicate what you are buying much better. Probably not coming back, but was a nice morning with nice people. read more

The store is beautiful. I gave it two stars because you cannot eat a pastry seated at a table unless you order breakfast. We arrived at 8:30 am and only one table was seated. We ordered a cinnamon roll, turkey cheese croissant, chocolate croissant, chocolate chip cookie and a coffee. We had to have it packed to go. Staff was most helpful with our selections.
