(Copy sent to Elmer's Corp a few minutes ago) Flies Be Damned-Full Speed Ahead I know - I said until the fly problem is solved we weren't returning - but when my wife said - "we" were returning - because Elmer's was serving eggs Benedict and that was one of her favorites ... besides, there shouldn't be any flies at this time (11:30am) of day. Guess what ... we went! Upon arrival, there were no flies seen and Elmer's had about 15 or so customers. Waitress was friendly, answered our questions, took our order and filled the brand-new coffee mugs (nice color, seemed larger, thicker mug walls, may hold the heat longer), and the coffee tasted great. When our order was delivered, my wife concentrated on her favorite eggs Benedict without further conversation - till her plate was clean, at which point she declared "the best eggs Benedict she had in a long time!". In trying to pin-down the difference and without knowing the brand of eggs, bacon, ham and sauce mixture components, we settled on the taste improvement was due primarily to taste and that the addition of ham to the bacon was the primary cause of taste improvement. Shortly after reaching our conclusion the waitress (Bienne?) showed up and we asked for her opinion. Not having heard my wife's comment the waitress expressed a similar opinion and also compared this Benedict to others saying, the difference to her was the addition of the ham to the bacon. When questioned further as to who decides the type, quantity, combinations of a dish, she felt that was decided at corporate level, and not left to individual chefs. I felt it proper to share out opinion with, and congratulate both, our Medford Chef and Corporate for that meal ... despite having broken our "fly" promise. This is not a review on the food which is fine or the servers who are always friendly. This is about the trend I am seeing on under staffing. My wife and self had lunch about 1:15 today. One waiter was covering the entire restaurant and there was no body at the front of house. I saw the manager walk by a couple times in his violet shirt but other than that was no where to be found. Even though our waiter was running his ass off one person can only do so much. I do not like this trend I have noticed the last few times we have gone there. Shari's has similar fare and is always staffed adequately so they may be our new choice instead of Elmers. read more

Probably the worst breakfast I have ever had. I did the chicken fried steak skillet. The potatoes, onion and green peppers were barely warm and served raw under the steak that was swimming in cheese and minimal gravy. Scrambled eggs were covered in a ton of cheese also. My husband and I came in around 7pm on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant was mildly busy. When we walked in the cashier who is also the hostess said she would seat us in a minute as she was checking out the only customer in line. We waited patiently, literally for 6 minutes, while she helped the customers at the register. I expected she would seat us after she was through checking them out. By the time the six minutes had passed there were another five parties behind them. I asked her if we could seat ourselves and she said no. She said she was going to help the remaining five people who had come up to the checkout line AFTER we had arrived, then she would seat us. If it takes six minutes to check one person out then that could have been another 15-25 minute wait. Absolutely absurd that she could not either quickly seat us or grab a server to assist. The restaurant was not busy!!!! The manager seriously needs to counsel this employee and educate her on prioritizing successful high levels of customer service delivery!!!! It came with veggies of which I almost never partake because they are most often mushy and flavorless. However, to my great surprise I was treated to the best squash medley, perfectly cooked and spiced to perfection! I've had this meal before with the veggies so-so. However when I went here the service was great my waitress wasn't pushy gave me my space and she didn't do that annoying hover thing that a lot of other restaurant servers do and if I had a question about something she would be able to tell me. So we took a chance and we have been back many times already. The manager, Alice talked with us and made us feel important. We had a waitress who also was new to Oregon. Very friendly place. The food was so delicious. We have gone back for all 3 types of food! Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, and we have not been disappointed yet. We had a favorite restaurant in our previous town in another state and wondered if we would be fortunate enough to find a great place that we could afford here in southern Oregon. Well we did! This one in Medford is very clean, spacious and serves a delicious apple chicken sausage. This happened a little while ago when my wife and i came to this location. We ordered a shake and the spoon they gave us was almost serrated, most likely from it banging and scraping against something in the dish washer. My wife took a bite of the shake and it cut her lip open enough to start bleeding. We requested to talk to the manager about this and she was so so so rude. After explaining the situation she said "So what do you want then?" We simply started dumbfounded for about 5 seconds before i told her that we'd like a new spoon at least. We weren't looking for "free food" but this manager made us feel like we were pieces of dirt that wanted to exploit her. She got us a new spoon and never said "sorry" or showed any hit of customer service skills. We have decided to never go back to this location. read more

My fiance' and I were in Medford this past weekend and decided to give Elmer's a try. It was Sunday morning and the place was packed, so we had to wait for a table. I figured with the crowd of people the food had to be good, I was wrong. *He ordered the country breakfast - it arrived cold. I* ordered the Northwest Skillet with a side of hollandaise sauce - Even with the sauce it was very bland. I had to resort to adding ketchup which is not something I do. *We ordered the strawberry crepes and they were yummy. *I also ordered a specialty coffee advertised on the table. The waitress brought the wrong drink and when I pointed that out she supposedly brought me the right coffee but it was not in the mug as displayed in the picture on the table. I drank it anyway thinking, oh maybe they don't have the exact mugs. WRONG I then saw a few trays come out of the back with the coffee I ordered. Well, $35.00 later we for probably the first time ever did not take our leftovers with us. And not more than 2 hours later we were both starving and had to stop for another meal. Our waitress was great. She happened to place us in line with the view of the waitress station. I witnessed one of the waitresses take the bacon off of a plate and put it on another plate. Then she picked up the eggs with her non gloved hands and repositioned them. She took the meal to the customer, handled a ticket and the register went back to the station and messed with food on another plate. When it got on her finger she licked it and all without washing her hands once. Disgusting! We told the disinterested manager who didnt even ask which waitress it was. Our waitress said it was an ongoing problem and even asked her to not do her hair where customers dine. Along with food that really is a 4 at best. I give this a 1, all going to our waitress and her service. I will never visit this restaurant again. read more

Awful food; long wait; questionable service; mistakes with no expedited rectification; don't do it - don't eat here. It took 15-minutes from the time we were seated until a waitperson ventured by to take our selection. That was a warning sign. 24-minutes later, the food arrived. Both orders were incorrect (one omelet was ordered with egg whites; the other request - simple bacon and eggs - was reversed: the eggs were "well done," i.e., hard, and the hashbrowns were undercooked.). We sent the omelet back and instead of expediting a new one, the waitpersons made excuses for the next 22-minutes about how the kitchen was busy and, "It's almost ready . . . " By now, we'd invested too much time to leave - and anywhere we'd go, we'd have to wait. Eventually, the omelet arrived. But the waitresses took little or no note that the bacon and eggs hadn't been touched. Not sure they cared. They were too busy. We never saw the manager. I assume it was the guy who looked like Elmer Fudd, who was too greedily taking money to worry about service and customer satisfaction. There are better places around. Especially down the road in Ashland. Skip this place - unless you want iffy service, and sad food that takes a long time to arrive. read more

the service is usually very good, especially given the crowd they have to deal with. it's a very popular breakfast and lunch spot around here, but you can usually get a seat quicker than the packed waiting area would lead you to believe. unfortunately, I've come to recognize that popularity in Medford is no way to judge taste. the food is mediocre... if you chance upon the best stuff. most everything, including salads, has a weight to it that will keep you full, if not feeling a little sick. if you like Denny's, you'll probably like Elmer's. First, I love Elmer's, especially the cinnamon roll pancakes and I will order them for any meal. When I can, I like to go in for lunch and order the pancakes, which is wanted I wanted to do, today, 9 December 2017. I don't know if it was because they were short staffed or what, but when I told the receptionist that I wanted a table (I am large and have a disability that makes using a booth very difficult). She walked away to clean a booth, leaving me to wonder if she heard me and another customer wanting to pay waiting. When she came back, she asked me if I would like a booth and I said no, I needed a table. Then she took the customer behind me to the booth, leaving me there without making any comment about when a table might be available. I told her I would leave and still no comment from her. Yes, they were busy and I believe the receptionist was working hard, but I also noticed a lack of personnel working on either side of the restaurant. The 2 star rating is because I did leave without eating. I will return to Elmer's and enjoy their great food, but today I did Not. read more

High Prices, slow service, small portions, French toast burnt underneath, Nasty servers. I wouldn't waste a penny at this chain. I tried the one in Springfield and Grants Pass Now and have found both to be well below the bottom. French toast sticks at Burger King taste better and cost a 1/10th of the money. After trying multiple Cities and multiple times, the service just gets worse. Winco Muffins are also a thousand % better. The managers I've talked to are people I would have fired which explains the low class under them. read more
