Elmer's is a popular breakfast destination. All the standard fare is reasonably priced and cooked well, if not inventively. Coffee is above average for a chain restaurant. Went there this morning after the breakfast rush hour. Ordered a Dutch baby with a berry sauce, which undoubtably delayed the delivery of breakfast for the others: allow extra time. The server advised that the berries were not fresh, but frozen. The Dutch baby was perfect: crisp, hot, thin, not typical for most breakfast places. The berries were a bit of a disappointment since the strawberries were still frozen. I'd go back, but would order something more simple if in a time crunch. read more

Awesome German pancakes! They gave our party of 17 great service. Very old school restaurant. Perfect place if you are 80 years old.

Our waiter Myles did a great job explaining our options and was very attentive to a couple of concerns we had. He did a wonderful job in just making us feel at home and comfortable! We were a little bit of a difficult group because there were four of us and there were a number of different special requests but myles did an amazing job handling them! Like Medford itself, Elmer's is meh. Our server, Cassie, was wonderful. The kitchen, however, was not. We were driving that long, miserable drive from Eugene to So California, 12 hours at best, so we stopped in Medford for lunch. We arrived at 1:30, placed our order promptly, and waited.......and waited.......until 2:10. When I finally asked about our order, I was greeted with confusion. When my giant German pancake was delivered, it was raw in the bottom. Yuck. A giant, giant hunk of white, raw dough. The edges were delicious, but this can not compare to the IHOP German pancakes, which are thin, delicate, and COOKED! And, when I was asked at the time of payment how everything was, I replied, "slow." And the young lady with the waist length red hair looked at me with daggers. She must be from California, where rude attitudes are normal, because it is only in Medford that I have ever had less than great service, no where else in Oregon, and she was just so unpleasant. We will not be returning to Elmer's....ever. Life is too short for bad food and even shorter for nasty girls. read more

Good afternoon Elmer's crew! I'd first like to say my husband and I have been coming to Elmer's for years, we like to eat in the bar and play video poker. It's always been a warm and welcoming environment with lots of professionalism and that is reason we keep coming. Steve was a really good friend of ours, between Steve and Brandy they've made it a second home to people like us. Recently there's a progression of unprofessionalism that's so bad we have a hard time bringing ourselves to go in anymore, and this is why. There is one employee, and her name is Joee. I have owned my own business for 30 plus years in costumer service and I have never seen an employee quite as bad as she. We are extremely disappointed in this hire. The last straw for us was overhearing her having a conversation with the pregnant lady which we believe is a manager, not in private but for everyone around to hear. The conversation was talking very harshly about Brandy and not being stopped by the manager. She went on and on and everyone could hear her. She is very foul mouthed, loud and extremely rude. We will not tip her and stopped tipping her a long time ago and now we hear about it every time we go in. We have to serve ourselves our own coffee, we've heard her pressure costumers about tipping her. She's the only reason at this point why will be not be coming back. Brandy over the years has treated us with impeccable service! And when Steve was there, him too. Joee has made the environment hostile and uncomfortable. As a businesswoman these things are intolerable. I would like to add, the conversation we overheard between her and the pregnant women was unacceptable and unprofessional, for a manager to let that happen in front of costumers. I believe this is just one problem of many that need to be addressed. Joee has given away drinks that have not been paid for, we have watched that happen numerous times! We never say anything, we keep to ourselves. We hear and see the things go on around us. We have heard other costumers who we've known and also who we do not know, talk about not wanting to come when Joee is on her shift. It's not just my husband and I who feel this way it's many others. This employee is ruining this business and pushing away loyal customers like ourselves. As a businesswoman this should not be tolerated. read more

We were passing through town and, as it was our middle kid's birthday, we decided to go out to breakfast rather than eating the hotel's complimentary breakfast. I had been to Elmer's in the past (l-o-n-g time ago, as a kid) and remembered it as being pretty good. I really wanted to give this place more stars. The food was OK, prices were reasonable, and the wait for a table wasn't bad on a Sunday. Unfortunately, the service was incredibly poor. Most restaurants that do a brisk breakfast business and pass out multi-page kids' menus with cool triangular-shaped boxes of crayons also understand that a kid's attention span is very short. I was impressed when we walked in and were seated right away. The hostess seemed attentive, asked if we needed a high chair (we requested a booster), and said our waiter would be right with us. A few minutes after we were seated, two older people, who I assumed to be regulars by the banter between them and the hostess, were seated at a booth next to our table. A few moments later I noticed they had a cup of coffee and glass of orange juice on the table. By this time, we had been in the restaurant for close to ten minutes, and we had not yet seen our waitress, and nobody had asked whether we would like anything to drink. We proceeded to wait a few more minutes, and our waitress finally came and brusquely took our order. The best way to describe our interactions with her was distracted. We mentioned that it was our middle daughter's birthday when we asked if she could get sprinkles on the whipped cream on her pancakes, and I don't know that she actually responded. We ordered our coffee at the same time as we ordered our breakfast. She quickly took our menus and left. After a wait, our meal showed up (it was busy by this point, so I don't fault the kitchen for taking time to cook the food). Our birthday girl's food showed up a full five minutes after the rest of our food showed up. By this time, our coffee cups had been neglected since they were delivered to us, yet we were not offered a refill. We were offered our first coffee refill as we were packing the kids up to leave and requesting the check. I did take the time to talk to the manager on our way out. We normally tip well, and I wanted to make sure someone knew why the tip was smaller than the standard 15%. He apologized and reversed the charge on the coffee, which was a nice gesture. Would we go here again? Maybe. I'd probably give a different Elmer's a chance before completely ditching the chain. That being said, there was a basic level of customer service that was lacking. read more

We ate breakfast there while traveling and thought the food and service was fabulous. I got avocado Benedict and substituted pancakes instead of hash browns. They willingly made the substitution. My wife and I had breakfast at Elmer's in November 2016. It is your typical family breakfast restaurant setup. We were seated quickly and our service was good. The portions are average size and okay for the price. We both enjoyed our breakfasts. I would encourage trying Elmer's if you are in Medford, OR. Just leaving now we had a awesome vist,, we were greeted right away by the manger and seated and she even got our drinks right away!!! This was our second time eating at Elmer's in Oregon. It took 1 hour to get our meal. I quickly recognized They were in the weeds when we arrived. Many folks waiting, looking and making comments about the wait. The GM was alerted, he didn't come over the speak to us. I think the waitress forgot to enter our order. Three of us got our food, half of the forth meal came 15 mins later, missing a pancake. Bummer, cause the food is good. read more

Whenever I am in Oregon I have to get a Dutch Baby (German Pancake)!! Elmer's has the best Dutch Baby's cooked to perfection. My husband got a waffle which was also cooked perfect!! The place was pretty empty when we came in and was seated quickly, that was the best part of the visit. I asked for Strawberry Lemonade and she brought straight lemonade, when I asked for the correct drink I could tell she was miffed. My Mom and I ordered the same omelet, mine without onions that looked lovely in the picture on the menu, and my mom wanted extra crispy hashbrowns. I told the waitress I have a wheat allergy (actually Celiac, but allergy works better with waitstaff), and asked for fruit instead of bread, and verified no pancake batter in the eggs like IHOP does. We were brought out the saddest looking omelets, and they had put the biscuit on top of the omelet. Then we realized they had reversed the hashbrowns, and asked for a plate to make it easier to switch, instead she huffed and took them away to have the kitchen correct. When brought back realized the omelets were also switched. By that time I could tell she was annoyed for whatever reason and didnt want to ask for my plate to be remade since the biscuit had now been touching my food. I didnt get my regular reaction to contamination but have been sick in the 9 days since then. Do not go here, especially if you have any food issues - allergy or autoimmune. read more
