I finally ate a meal at Elways after living her for quite some time. I went there using a gift certificate I purchased as part of a silent auction. While the food is good (loved their RI Calamari as it reminded me of my favorite place to order calamari on Newbury St. Boston), my husbands steak was cooked perfect, and the grouper dish I had was very tasty and topped with shrimp, lump crab, and Andouille sausage in a creole sauce. I didn't give 5 stars because with the price you are paying (even with my gift cert we shelled out $ since we ordered a lot of food). I felt the family style sides we purchased were small for the price we paid, liquor had a ridiculous mark up...I had a Baileys added to my cappuccino to the tune of $11 when I saw it on the bill. While to service was good I didn't find it stellar which would for this type of establishment. While there menu had more variety and again the food is very good I think if I wanted to go fancy I would go to the Palm where while the food is pricey they do not skimp on servings, I haven't eaten anything there that I didn't think was cooked perfect, and their service is second to none. We went to Frasca Food and Wine and Penrose Room the same week and I was honestly thinking elway's would be the least favorite, but elways's had the best food in my opinion. Frasca and Penrose are more multi course experience type of meals and elway's is a steakhouse, so I'll just compare the 1 thing we had at all 3 restaurants, lamb. The lamb chops here are definitely the best! They're so flavorful and taste even better with the cheese fondue! The fondue is not seasoned too much so that it enhances the already well seasoned chops. They were so good, I stopped in the middle of the meal to post them on Instagram They're really generous with their portions too. My wife and travel a lot we also eat a lot of steak like Al Michaels. For us Elways has the best steak we've ever had. That being said we've never been to NY yet. When people ask me for a good steak my first reply is Elways. But one our favorite things there is there Asian ribs. We like to go to happy hour 4-6 everyday and sometimes order dinner off the happy hour menu. We just tried the banana pudding and it was awesome ( with real sliced banana) and a cookie crumble topping. We really like there fries too. The staff is always friendly and right on top of things. Salad: I had the John's Salad that was a chopped salad with green goddess dressing. A nice size, and good blend of flavors. Steak: 8 oz Strip Medium. Um, yuuuum! This was a THICK steak and cooked to perfection. Juicy with a nice crust on the outside. Sides (Shared): Au Gratin potatoes and Steamed Broccoli Dessert: Brownie/ice cream/caramel thingy - a perfect combo of gooey sweetness. We went overboard on the food! The steak was $58 with no sides. We ordered the 10 oz filet and a side of asparagus, both of which were delivered to our room. The steak was completely overcooked, like someone had returned it before and the restaurant didn't want to waste it since it was closing soon. It was the first time I've ever had a crunchy steak. The sides were charred and the inside was completely dry. It was awful. The asparagus was also overcooked. Ingress to Elway's is achieved through a brief leftward jaunt through the lobby of the Ritz Denver. Though our visit was on a somewhat busy Thursday, a last-minute reservation was successfully achieved due in no small part to our concierge at the Marriott City Center. Steak weighed on our collective minds and steak was what was had. I elected for a bone in 22 oz. ribeye. Though I briefly toyed with the idea of medium rare, the final selection remained my routine continental medium (leaning more rare would not have been objectionable). Once the steak and sides arrived (gratin potatoes and creamed spinach), one could take in the splendor of the unique spice rub applied and the wonderful maillard crust achieved in the professional ovens. Though I tend to be rather sensitive to salt, and as a result less enamored with the concept of heavy rubs, I found this steak to be succulent, flawlessly cooked, and well-complimented by the balance of saltiness. My cut, though not as thick as the strip steaks ordered by my table-mates, was nonetheless substantial enough to indicate a practiced butcher's hand in the kitchen. Service was pleasant and unobtrusive, while also remaining sufficiently accessible to the meandering needs of a table full of business associates. Further, the sommelier made a very pleasing recommendation with a 2006 Ramey Cabernet Sauvignon. The precocious cherry and blackfruit with youthful tannins provided an enjoyable compliment with the rich fattiness offered from the well-marbled ribeye. In summary, Elway's proved to be a most welcome surprise as a concluding meal to a week long business trip to Denver. Highly recommended. read more

We were immediately given a 5pm reservation for when the dining room opened and were seated promptly. Our server had a friendly attitude and was attentive. It took three requests to get bread delivered to the table. Ordering was slow and drinks came at a leisurely pace and refills were slow. When the meals came out, they were oddly placed in front of the wrong people. My girlfriend got something she didn't order and had to wait 20 minutes for her meal. That makes it uncomfortable for everyone else that has their email. To eat, or not to eat...... sort of thing. The food, was the saving grace of the night. My "ELWAY'S Salmon" might have been the best salmon I have ever had. My baked potato was delightful. My girlfriend said the same thing of her food as did our other guests. Being seated so late cost us the event we had scheduled after dinner which was inconvenient for everyone. One makes reservations for a reason. We were all very excited but was left extremely disappointed. First off the steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare. Unfortunately, the Wagyu steak was tough like a NY Strip Steak. The bone in ribeye steak was more tender and it was half the cost and bigger in size. When we asked the staff about where the Wagyu came from and the grade of the meat... we were told was from the US and couldn't tell us the grade. Slightly odd for such a high end restaurant. I went to Elway's on Thursday December 8, 2021, after a long day of travel and work. I went with three of my coworkers, we are all Hispanic males. As soon as we arrived the host looked us up and down and sat us at the furthest and smallest table she could so that we could not be seen. We placed our order with a older white male server. The server started out great, made small talk about football and our travel. The server also made good food and drink recommendations. The food was good, a little salty but good. The drinks were served promptly. Then it got bad. We asked our server for separate checks. He lost his mind. He responded in a very rude tone " you guys should have said that from the get go". I do not recall Elway's paying me to do the job of a server. When the server got the checks separated he brought them back and literally threw the checks at each of us. All of us were in disbelief as this childish outburst coming from this elderly man. Due to this behavior the server was given no tip on a $410.00 check. This will be the first and last time I will ever attend Elway's. I have received better customer service at fast food restaurants. I am just upset that Yelp does not allow 0 stars. read more

I am writing this review on Elway's, downtown restaurant. I hosted a party of seven on June 14 in an area of the restaurant surrounded by wine - the minimum cost to sit in this area was $800. When I had booked the reservation, the special events coordinator assisted with pre-ordering appetizers and was supposed to provide a condensed wine menu for Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot noir and Cabernet Sauvignon based on my price range. This was requested so I wouldn't have to review the whole wine list which would take time from my guests. This did not occur. At the event upon seating, I was given the standard, large wine list to go through. When I asked our server for what I thought would be a condensed wine list based on what I and the Special Events coordinator had discussed when planning the dinner, she knew nothing about said list. Why did I go through the trouble of pre-selecting the week before? Additionally, our sever was not helpful in assisting me with the wine list. However, our server was not particularly friendly in general. After sitting down for 10 minutes, we had only been presented with the food and wine menu and had not been asked if we would like something other than water. When I finally did get our servers attention and was able to order the wine, she again did not ask if any of the party would like cocktails. It took the table a long amount of time to get the server's attention to order cocktails, which we would have ordered more of if our server would have been more attentive (and our bill and her tip would have been larger--missed opportunity!). I'm I will say that server was definitely overworked - she was attending other tables and clearly wasn't happy about serving a large party like us who demanded her attention, and I don't blame her. I would have liked to have had a server who was less busy and more able to take care of the needs of the table. Our reservations were for 8 PM and it was not a crowded dining period. I will say that our food and drinks were excellent. I have no complaint about the quality of food or beverages. While it did take a while to order the correct drinks, the wine and food could not have been better. Again, we would have ordered more food and drinks and had a higher bill if we would have been attended to. Our entree's came and they were just as delicious as the appetizers; the food was exceptional, our sever was not. My daughter, who the party was for, was given the incorrect entree. While we wanted to say something and get the correct entree out, by the time that our server came over to check on us, we knew that it would take far too long for her to get the correct order out to us, so we did not say anything at the time. While this is a fault on my part for not wanting to cause a scene, the server should have gotten the order correct and done a two-minute check back when we got our entrees to see if everything was correct. When I was presented with the bill I checked with the server to make sure she would receive the 20% tip I had asked to place on the card ahead of time. When I asked if this was included in the bill, she stated that she shares her tip with others in the restaurant and suggested that I should instead give her a tip of 29%, which I did. While I have no problem leaving a higher tip, the server's overall service should have reflected this amount and it was quite rude of her to suggest that I leave more money on top of what I had already planned on. In conclusion, I was drastically disappointed in the service and doubt that I will return to this location. What was supposed to have been a wonderful celebration was definitely marred by the poor, unprofessional, and inattentive service of our server. I have sent one email to the special events coordinator as well commenting as Elway's website contact page. I have not heard back from anyone therefore I'm now posting my dissatisfaction on Yelp. Went here for happy hour. It's a cute, classy bar at the bottom of The Ritz and well within walking distance from 16th street. There's a drink option under happy hour menu that let's you describe to the bartender what you're spirit you're feeling for and they'll conjure up some concoction to fit your needs. It's called "bartender's choice" and the description verbatim is "let us craft a cocktail based on your personal preference"......but that wasn't the case here. We wanted whiskey and rather than accommodate to our "personal preference" we were told Moscow Mules was the bartender special. Say what? They need to update the description of the drink choice if that's the case. We still opted for whiskey and paid $16 for a drink, which is fine as it's part of the Ritz and what I'd imagine is the price point. There are definitely better steakhouses for the money. It is priced like any of the expensive steakhouses but the food and service is just average at best. The ambience reminds me of a typical hotel restaurant. It's inside the Ritz but that doesn't provide Andy ambience. Service - our waiter was nice but more like a Chili's waiter than a high end steakhouse waiter. He didn't take our order for 20 minutes and then forgot to put in our shrimp cocktail. He also didn't bring the bread although some of the other tables had it. He seemed to have 5 or 6 tables which is way too high for that type of restaurant. Besides the hours, the bar staff was wonderful and very friendly even though I gave them s*** numerous times for closing so early. For our dinner the filet was very good. The loaded baked potato while sounding great was awful. It was an overcooked shell with no potato inside. It was loaded with sour cream on top and a bit of bacon bits. Everytime I put my fork into it I pulled out gobs of melted cheese. Once I got all the cheese out there was no potato inside other than scrapping the sides, and the skin of the potato was rock hard. Then for breakfast I ordered the eggs benedict. The sauce was cold and the taste of it was different from any hollandaise sauce I have had in my 62 years. I couldn't eat it. The side potatoes were one inch chunks with the skin on. I tried to put my fork into the first one and it didn't go in. The outside was so overcooked. The service at dinner was top notch. I just stuck with a Coors Light, being in Colorado and having a long travel day, I just wanted something refreshing. We split the John's Salad which was totally delicious. Even splitting it gave us a huge portion each. It says it comes with green goddess dressing - I couldn't taste this or see it, but the additional vinaigrette was good. For dinner my boyfriend had a NY Strip and the au gratin potatoes. He felt the steak was just average but he also eats in some of the finest restaurants in the world. The potatoes were amazing. Perfect. Just how you expect the best ones to be. I wasn't very hungry and had the appetizer Lamb Fondue as my entrée. Again, a huge portion of three very meaty lamb chops. The fondue was creamy yet somewhat airy, and had a slight green chile flavor. Overall it was very good, but rich. I recommend sharing this rather than having it as an entrée. Very hearty - would be an ideal winter dish on a snowy night. Yes, and even though the lamb was rich, I needed something sweet to finish so we ordered the ice cream. 6 flavors to choose from, we had the Bourbon Butterscotch, the Vanilla Bean and the Salted Caramel. I would come back to Elway's for that butterscotch ice cream alone. OMG - I need to try to recreate this at home. 5 of us walked to the restaurant from our conference hotel. We were done for the week and hungry for lunch. While there is a outside terrace seating area, you can only enter the restaurant by going into the Ritz Carlton lobby. Named after Denver Broncos hall of famer John Elway, there was memorabilia by the hostess station that was fun to look at. We didn't have a reservation but they seated us right away. The lunch menu had a good variety to choose from. The wait staff answered some questions and told us the specials and soup of the day. They came back and took our orders, helping to make decisions along the way. Everyone was only drinking water and they were great at keeping the glasses full. We chatted among ourselves but it seemed like the food arrived quickly. We ordered charred red pepper soup, spicy steak chili, salads, and sandwiches. The dishes were beautifully presented and delicious. Everyone commented on how flavorful their meals were. For me, I split a iceberg wedge salad and prime rib sandwich with my husband. I love blue cheese and the wedge had just the right amount of crumbles. The sandwich was tender and the roll was firm but not tough. The horseradish was fantastic but had a kick, so watch out. When we were done and with no room for dessert, they were very accommodating to split up the check in to separate ones for us. read more

Entree and side dish: I ordered the Ahi Tuna, cooked rare with Elway's Crab Fried Rice; the hubby ordered the Prime Ribs , cooked medium with Brussels Sprout Hash. I had my dinner with a glass of Syrah, which paired well with my Ahi. Desert: it was an awesome surprise! Complimentary Brownies with Ice Cream and Fudge!
