Open it says late but the theee times I've been here after a Rockies game they say that they aren't serving food. I don't know why the menu says serving food late until closed. The staff always says the kitchen is closed anytime after 11:00pm so keep that in mind when seeking this place out. Get your stuff figured out. After dining here twice, I thought, blah, not worthy of a review. But after dinner last night, I can't believe I was*blah*. Service was great and very helpful- thanks, Max! I changed my order and went with his recommendations - the bone-in ribeye was fabulous. Definitely would take this over the filet any day. And the crab fried rice...yummy yummy yummy. came here for my birthday brunch on a Monday. It was def nice but i think it could have been nicer. The staff was friendly and the chef was nice enough to cook a steak for my friend so early in the morning. It was def burnt on the sides, the meat inside was tender and set to medium which was nice. The waffle is not worth getting, between 3 people we had a quarter size of it. The french toast was def better. I had the tomato avocado Benedict, it was delicious, my other friend had the crab benny- it was good. They gave us free mimosas, but only one person drinks, so the other two just sat there. All in all it was a nice meal, staff was friendly, but it would not be my first choice in terms of steakhouses. i think i would have been disappointed going here for dinner. read more

Where to Start? I guess with the Service. Every time We needed something its like our server knew and was right there without being pushy and its a plus not having to track a busboy down to get the server. I love the Decor and the dark woods and the Wine Room. Only if I was more of a Wine Drinker. And the table was wide enough that We weren't bumping elbows. The Shrimp Appetizer with its Nitrogen Smoky stuff. Big pieces though they may classify as prawns. And the Coconut Shrimp what presentation and tasty to the max. I ordered the Steak meal with Potatoes and Cauliflower. This was the best steak to of ever graced my beautiful lips. Medium well and it was juicy and didn't need anything to accompany it. No Steak sauce or Garlic Butter. Even the Bread was Top Flight. I was looking at the Creme Brulee, but How could I resist the smores. We waited until our last week in Colorado, and our first anniversary, to try out the man's steakhouse, but I was a little disappointed. Maybe it's because I'm from the land of everything large (Texas), but I felt kind of ripped off by the pricing of the sides for their size. It seemed to me that their mashed potatoes, albeit delicious, were half in size of also delicious ones you can get at Ruth's Chris. I also think RC's steak is better. I had the apple pecan (walnut?) crisp for dessert, but I could only find and devour one nut. Maybe that's why I can't remember if it was supposed to have pecans of walnuts. Excellent service for an upscale restaurant. I always thought the prices would be outrageous but I ordered the eggs Benedict and it was only $16. The waitstaff are very attentive to your needs, as they should be in a fancier restaurant. Their coffee comes in a very big cup and they will always refill it before you get to the bottom. I don't know what kind of coffee they use but it is very strong and it will be sure to perk you up for the day. The Acapulco breakfast burrito is yummy too. Love going to the ritz Carlton and this restaurant is at the entrance so it's very convenient. read more

Fantastic! I started with the house salad which I found to taste like it was freshly picked out of the ground (not so good, but I won't let this take away from the overall taste and experience). So, I would suggest requesting more dressing or just avoiding the salad together! For my main meal I had the New York Strip with blue cheese butter and it was fantastic! The steak wasn't cooked to my liking but the waiter was quick to notice. I didn't have to say a word and he said "that isn't cooked right" and he offered to make it right. I said "no big deal it's still delicious" so at the end of the night he gave us (both of us) free dessert! Along with my steak I had Mac n Cheese... delicious! and a baked potato with all the fixings! I was completely satisfied! It is a bit pricey, but the taste and service def. makes the price worth it! The service was fantastic. We were sat within 10 mins of our reservation and we never had to wait for anything. The wait staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I will def. be making my way back to Elway's for a steak. I recommend this place to everyone who wants to enjoy a delicious cow :) read more

This review is only for Elway's brunch buffet. Long before I was on yelp (we're talking 5 or so years ago) I had been to Elway's before for restaurant week and absolutely loved it. Hands down a 5 star restaurant with a 5 star experience. My husband and I got an Elway's gift card as a present so we decided to check it out for their brunch buffet to try something different. Remembering our amazing experiences in Elway's before, we were expecting to be blown away by the quality of service and food on the buffet table. What we got was an average, cafeteria breakfast buffet crammed onto one mini table. There was hardly any food leftover in the buffet line and what was leftover was hard, as if it had been sitting out for a while. We decided to wait it out for them to replenish the line. Once they did, everything was still hard, like the biscuits and the French toast. Nothing was warm, and quite frankly nothing was very flavorful. They served your basic breakfast food-eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, nothing to distinguish the Elway's 'brand' as we remember from their dinner menu. We were drawn to the 'USDA Prime strip loins' described in the menu and they were cold, chewy, and full of fat. Perhaps I've been spoiled by other brunch buffets in Denver, such as Dazzle, but If we're spending $28 per person (not including drinks) on breakfast food, we expected a little more. Service was a little rough to get anything. They took away my husband's knife and fork and he had a hard time flagging anyone down to get a new one replaced. Perhaps it was because they were so busy that day. Other people around us ordered their brunch off the regular menu and the food looked great! Other yelpers review of the breakfast look fantastic as well. I absolutely love Elway's so I will be coming back to try their regular breakfast menu, but will be steering clear of the buffet. read more

Came to Elways to celebrate NYE with a group of 6. I was surprised at how empty the place was! We had heard such good things about from people all around Denver. We had 2 servers for our party of 6. Drinks came out swift. However after we placed our orders which consisted of salads, filets, surf & turf, giant ribeyes and a plethora of sides our servers never came back to check on our steaks. My friend who ordered the surf & turf requesting the Wyagu beef medium plus came out more rare then my medium rare plus steak. Once we were finished, it took about 20 minutes to flag down one of two waiters to get our tab. There were also times where everyone's water glass was empty. The experience was extremely underwhelming considering the restaurant was half empty. I truly expected better service. My filet oscar was delicious, and my husband enjoyed his ribeye but I do not think I would dine again at Elways. read more

I ate here about a month ago when I was in Denver on business, and let me tell you, this was one hell of a meal. Elway's is one of those places where the wait staff come to your table and take about five minutes to explain how they procure, age, and prepare their steaks. And if you are not ready to tear into some steak by the time your waiter is done, you need to check your pulse. I had the 13 oz bone-in filet cooked medium-rare. The steak was cooked perfectly, and was so good it melted in my mouth. I'm getting hungry just typing about it. There's not much I could say other than this was pretty much a perfect steak. We also had the cold shellfish tower as an appetizer, which had oysters as well as lobster and shrimp cocktail. And a couple bottles of red wine. Not cheap by any stretch - the steak was $49, appetizer was $49, and both bottles of red wine were about $100. But this was a really, really awesome meal, and you have to pay a premium for that. Great place for an anniversary or other special occasion, or for a nice dinner out with co-workers when you're in Denver on business. read more

3 of us went in for a burger and a bloody. The good - the bloody's were about as good as they get - a little small maybe - but yummy. 2 had the $19 Waygu burger and 1 the regular $15 cheeseburger. All of them were a) over cooked (ordered medium and they came well - a cardinal sin in my book) and 2) they were so salty they were almost unedible. I have been to the Elway's at Cherry Creek numerous times and the food has always been outstanding. But if I am downtown looking for a burger again, I will go to Red Robin for 1.3 the price. read more

Had Christmas dinner at Elway's downtown. Food was good, not great. Have had better steaks in Denver. However, the service was really bad. I read prior reviews saying the same before we came, hoping that those complaints were abnormal occurrences. However, that is not the case. For a $400 tab, you would expect better service than Chili's or Applebee's (which arguably have better service than Elway's...) I would advise anyone not to dine here for two reasons: 1) Denver Chophouse or Timberline is much better and 2) Elway's waiters are bottom of the barrel when it come to attentiveness and quality. Thanks for the let down, Elway's. Christmas dinner was good to be with family, but waiting 30 minutes to have a waitress take our order, 45 minutes to get our check, and then another 20 minutes to run our credit card in a half empty restaurant is simply unacceptable. read more

$49.95 for a scoop (yes a scoop shaped blob) of stuffing and mashed potatoes, pre-made turkey and watery gravy... all attempted to be warmed up in a microwave and served to us within 5 minutes from ordering. Top it off with a nearly inedible pumpkin flavored tart passed off as "pie". Incredibly disappointed. Would be 1 star if not for the good service. Also, the bar and staff there were awesome. 3rd time visiting Elway's, this place never disappoints with the quality of food, however this last visit lacked the service a place like this is supposed to provide. Our food took over an hour to get there, yeah we were a party of 5, but I think 1 hour to get your steak is absurd and out of place. I had an absolutely wonderful dining experience at Elway's yesterday evening. My boyfriend and I made a reservation for 5pm (the earliest available) and were seated promptly in a somewhat private area of the dining room. It was not a very busy night, so I was not surprised at how promptly we were greeted, but I was appreciative none the less. My boyfriend had grabbed a glass of wine from the bar while we were waiting to be seated, but I wanted to take some more time to peruse the wine list. I narrowed my selection down to two glasses of wine, and upon my description of what I was looking for, our server, Adam made a suggestion that I was very pleased with. The two of us shared the coconut encrusted shrimp. Our server informed us upon ordering that the dish came with 3 shrimp and asked if we would like to add a fourth so as to ensure an even amount of food for each of us. In retrospect, we certainly did not need the fourth, but the suggestion was very thoughtful. We then shared two sides - the asparagus and potatoes au gratin, and WOW were they each delightful! I had the filet mignon and my date had the NY strip, both cooked medium rare. Both cuts were very flavorful, juicy, tender, and cooked to a very appropriate temperature. Because our plans for the evening we approaching quickly, we finished our meal in a little bit of a hurry (certainly our fault for not mentioning the intended time frame for the meal, and not the staff's). We had mentioned to the other of our two servers (who were a flawless team, with no missteps in communication where our table was concerned), Phil, that we were taking the evening to celebrate my birthday earlier in the month. With the bill, they surprised me with a dessert to go, which we enjoyed very much in the comfort of our home later in the evening. While the dining room was certainly not all hustle and bustle for the evening, I found the service to be very attentive without being intrusive, which is exactly what I expect from an upscale dining experience. Both Adam and Phil had wonderful suggestions on the wine and dinner menus and seemed to be very skilled and knowledgeable in their trade. We will certainly be back for more in the future. read more

We made it because we live in Seattle and wanted to go to this restaurant after the game. When we got to the restaurant there was a large contingent of men in the restaurant. Here we go again with yet another steakhouse. This steakhouse however is owned by John Elway who is like Jesus Christ to Denver Folk!! I mean the guy owns car dealerships, restaurants and the Broncos....Im surprised they dont take time on Sundays to worship him. Oh wait they do.....its called football. This Elway's was located in a Ritz Carlton and I came here with some colleagues for a business dinner. We had some cocktails and opted to skip any appetizers and go straight for dinner. As with plenty of other steakhouses, everything is "A La Carte' which is french for get your own sides!! Actually it means According to the Menu, but I dont see how that translates.....a more appropriate description would be 'batteries sold separately' but of course referring to sides. So onto dinner. I had the ribeye which was very delicious. They boast about the spices that they season their meat with and lets be honest all meat can use a good dosing of seasoning haha. Asked for it medium rare and it came out perfect. We split the Asparagus and the Potatoes Au Gratin. Let me tell you about the Potatoes Au Gratin. This is shit is the BOMB Diggity....may have been the best part of the meal. Seriously, If I didnt care about my sexy physique so much, I would fly out here just to eat this side item. Overall, It was a tasty experience....one thing that sucked were the chairs!! I felt like a 5 year old at the table trying peek my head over so I could join in the conversation. I felt like I sank into the cushioning......Come on Elway, how about you take the ass raping you just charged for dinner for 3 and buy some decent chairs!! This place is beautiful inside and out. We only had appetizers so I can't comment on the entrees although they looked and smelled delicious. The service was a little slow and we kind of felt like the waitress was impatient with us. We ordered chips and guac and the steak tacos. She told us the guac would be out in a minute and we waited twenty for it so we were a little bit annoyed. The tacos came out a minute later. These were a little disappointing only because they aren't what you would expect. The steak part is actually just their steak chili with a side of tortillas, guac, and tomatoes. Typically I expect cheese and lettuce with my tacos but maybe that's just me. They were good just a bit hard to stuff into a taco since it was so liquidy. Anyway, The baked potato is awesome and the twice baked looks to die forrrrr (and huge). All in all, it's so pretty it's worth trying. read more

We stayed at the Ritz and came here our first night out of convenience and returned the following night because we had such a great experience. We sat at our usual spot, the bar. We were greeted by Josh who was not only very knowledgable of the menu and wine selections, but enthusiastic providing us with first class service. Dress code: in general people are business casual. Some come casual after a game and some dress up for a date night out. It's really whatever your affair is that night. Alcohol: make this your night to endulge with the vino! Overrated! I haven't tried the cherry creek location yet but boy did the steak I got here blow. The hamburgers at Cherry Cricket are better than the steaks here. The porterhouse I got was was oversalted and not tasty. My fav place for steak was ruth chris down the street but it has since closed down.. :( Still haven't tried pretentious capital grill cause I don't have a ferari to valet, haha, and it's a chain. I have heard there are a lot of cougars at the cherry creek location, made the cougars that frequent there know something I don't.. maybe the food is a heck of a lot better? read more

My expectations were low because I had eaten at the Vail location and was disappointed. But I was staying in the hotel and didn't want to go out. The bar is lively and that's where i ate. Foie Gras was very good, a dozen raw oyster, great, and the lamb, very good. Fairly good selection of wines by the glass. Only downside was that is way too costly. read more

Enjoyed another amazing meal last night at Elways. Even though I like going to the Cherry Creek location more then downtown because of the atmosphere, I always enjoy my food here just as much. Last night I had the bone in ribeye which I ordered medium and it came a little more rare then I usually like my steak. It was a very thick cut of meat so completely understandable and not a big issue to me, I'd rather it come a little more rare then over cooked. In some cases I might have had them throw it back on the grill for a couple of minutes but It was delicious, the temperature ended up being perfect and I nearly ate the whole thing! One thing I didn't know is they put flour on their steaks, I asked if a few things were gluten free and then ordered a steak, not even thinking to order it gluten free, the waitress told me there is flour on their steak seasoning. I'll ask from now on at every restaurant I go to. For an appetizer we had the shrimp cocktail which was delicious and huge as always, and the crab cocktail which was served over a bed of iceberg lettuce with cocktail sauce on top. I ended up only eating the crab, thought it was a little strange the way it was served but I ordered it for the crab and not the salad so it didn't bother me. We enjoyed the cauliflower with out steak and it is absolutely to die for, grilled and served with truffle butter, ah-maxing! Last, we had the creme brûlée! It was not on the menu and I have so many food allergies that often a creme brûlée is the only dessert I can enjoy. We went with a group of 5 people and no reservation on a Thursday night. Arrived around 6:00PM. We were told there would not be a table available for at least 2 hours. We had the option to sit at the long table by the entrance. It would have been okay if it had seating on both sides, but it made it hard to talk to each other. Plus we had all the cold air from the front door. The food was good, but definitely not worth the price tag. Went with a large group about 15 of us on a Thursday night at the downtown location in the Ritz. Wait staff was courteous and professional, top tier wait service. Restaurant was crowded and a bit noisy, but atmosphere was very good. Food and wine were excellent. Steaks were large cuts (had a hard time finding one small enough for me - I ended up going with the filet mignon.) Melt in your mouth steak! Appetizers were very good. We were there for about 3 hours - quite the dining experience so you may not want to go if you are on a schedule, though our group size may have been part of that. I would never go back to this place again. We had a very unpleasant experience dining at this establishment. The fire alarm went off and we had to sit through Easter brunch for about 15 minutes until the fire department arrived. It took 40 minutes to get our food and when it came out it was cold Two people in our party had to send their food back. The biggest problem was when it was time to get the bill it was suppose to be split 4 ways and the waitress did that but also charged my card for the whole amount of the bill which was $340.00. I still have a hold on my account and the amount has not fallen off. I was very disappointed in the manager and the way she dealt with the situation. She took off a round of drinks. All food AMAZING. Favorite is Ribeye. Salads, sides, Lobster BLT, YUM! Small complaint, bartender(s) need to make expensive cocktails look like expensive cocktails. So we made a reservation at Elway's in the Ritz Carlton. At first it seemed very good. Ambiance was nice, waiting staff was congenial and attentive, everything you would expect from a higher end steakhouse. However it quickly turned south. It took very long for the wait staff to bring the wine bottle. Once brought it was left at the table for several minutes, no one came to open it until a server, who wasn't our server, stopped us and returned with our waitress. I ordered the 16 oz New York strip ""MEDIUM RARE" "but more on the RARE side" for which I explicitly stated that I don't want any char or burn on the steak at all. Once it arrived, there was significant fat on the cut, so obviously the head chef needs to supervise his staff better when they select choice cuts, as choice cuts would be expected here, or so the price implies. Associated pictures will price my above statement. I also requested peppercorns and mushrooms, the mushrooms came on someone else's steak and mine came with "pepper sauce", Not what I asked for, as any wait staff who has any steakhouse experience would realize. Finally as dinner was cleared and deserts arrived the group all asked for pumpkin pies "a la mode". 10 minutes later we were brought little ice cream bowls, of which were notably missing the associated plates of pie. We addressed this with the waitress who then brought pies out several minutes later. As this mistake occurred I would have expected the staff to retrieve the ice cream bowls and return with the mistake corrected as the appropriate presentation is that the ice cream is presented to the table with ice cream on the pie... we didn't order ice cream and pie, we ordered "pumpkin pie a la mode". My ultimate advice is that you go to Ruth Chris or elsewhere. Do not spend your money here. It's a waste of your time. read more
