Emberz is a food shack located in the commercial part of town. The menu is simple - brisket and elk sausage, plus sides of corn bread, baked beans and mac n cheese. For the 2 of us, we ordered the 2 item plate, and sides of corn bread and baked beans. The portion was plenty to satisfy the both of us. The brisket was tender and the sausages were tasty. The corn bread was moist and topped with a butter/honey spread. The baked beans were tangy and not overly sweet. There are a few picnic benches but there is no ambiance to speak of. This is a take out place. Overall it's good food and good value. If you're looking for BBQ, this is a great option.

After a wonderful time at Devils Creek distillery, we stopped here for a plate of goodness. Unfortunately we arrived after the elk sausage was gone. Next time we'll have to reverse the order of business! The brisket was delicious. Though I love my BBQ dry, the sauce was tasty too. We enjoyed the sides (cabbage slaw, corn bread, mac & cheese). Next time, I'll try the beans.

Came by after doing 10 miles of hiking. I was excited to see such a well reviewed restaurant serving bbq in mammoth! The yelp hours are a little misleading since it shows 24/7 but they close by 7pm. This is a small shack next to an industrial complex. Based on other yelp reviews I ordered the following: - 3/5 - brisket plate with 2 sides, brisket was pretty dry and not moist at all Elk sausage - lots of reviews mentioned this but it seemed pretty similar to any other pork or beef sausage Probably wouldn't come back for this again. A couple of my friends also had their order forgotten until they checked in again 15 minutes later.

If you read my reviews at yelp. I only have 1 star or 5 stars review. Only the worst or the best. Which actually help a business to go up or down. Embers BBQ definitely deserve a 5 star review. 1. Food = briskets are smoked perfectly, seasoned great and really tender. It is juicy and tasty just like the chickens. I believe he uses boneless chicken thigh, which i think is better. Dark meat have more flavor. Lastly the elk sausage, deep it on the bbq sauce and it will escalate the taste. Sides = mac and cheese, i loved it cause it is creamy. Chili bean, is on the sweet side and really good. 2. Ambiance = nothing really special since it is a mom and pop food truck. But i tell that the food truck looks clean inside and out. 3. Service = friendly and helpful. Got some samples even if it is a 1 man show, he was able to provide good service. If people knows how hard to run a restaurant they will appreciate the person running the show behind that truck. Keep up the good job..

I'm so glad I was able to find this place on yelp just a few hours before they closed on Saturday! embers is a food truck parked next to a distillery and has a relatively small menu. despite looking pretty unassuming, there's a lot of flavor and personality coming from embers! the truck is run by a super friendly guy named Drake who helped us with our pretty big order! he was extremely kind and patient with us and kept a smile on everyone's faces while we were ordering and waiting. the food itself is amazing! the meat was tender and flavorful and the sides went perfectly with the mains. the truck itself is only open on Fridays and Saturday's so I'm so glad that we were able to try it during our trip and I definitely recommend for a satisfying meal in mammoth if you're ever able to catch it!

Brisket was tender and smoky. Cornbread was delicious! This is going to be a go to when I'm visiting mammoth. It's a little out of the way and the current google map hours are wrong.

Oh my goodness, what a find, this place is amazing! The food is outstanding, the service is amazing and the food truck is so clean and organized, I'm very impressed!!! Honestly I don't eat a lot of meat, but I tried the chicken and it is out of this world. I love the shredded cabbage, it's gourmet. And the potato salad is great too. And one of my favorite things are the pickled red onions... Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum!!!! This is one of those places that you wish you found out about earlier. Thanks Drake, you're a culinary genius! The food is amazing!!! I will always recommended this place for whoever is coming or will come to Mammoth. Drake is super friendly and he is the best chef. You will have to be patient since he is the only one working, but his work with care and detail will make your heart full when you eat the meal. Worth the wait for sure, me and my friends came 2times for only 2days we in town. Highly recommend to get the grilled chicken and bean on the side. I tried all his food and all the side but those two are my favorite. The rest is all very delicious too. As a person never eat bean, his bean is one of the best thing I've tried omg, you need to try it!!!

We visited Embers BBQ at the brewery and ordered the plate with spare ribs and cosmic chicken, along with sides of cornbread and chili. The food came out quickly, and there was plenty of outdoor seating available. The cosmic chicken was incredibly moist, and I appreciated that they offered a choice between breast or thigh. The cornbread was also a standout--super moist and full of flavor. I wasn't the biggest fan of the chili, but overall, I really enjoyed the meal. Great spot to grab lunch!

10/10 -- A Hidden BBQ Gem in Mammoth Lakes! Don't let the tiny shack in the industrial part of town fool you -- Ember's BBQ is a must-visit for real barbecue lovers. My husband and I know our BBQ (we smoke meats on our Traeger at home), so we rolled up skeptical... and left completely wowed. The owner greeted us immediately with a smile and genuine gratitude that we'd sought them out -- a great start. We ordered the brisket plate and the Cosmic Chicken, and both were absolutely phenomenal. The brisket had a perfect smoke ring, was incredibly juicy, and melted in our mouths. It came with spicy chili beans, sweet cornbread, and that unmistakable homemade touch -- all for just $19. Honestly, one of the best briskets we've ever had. Then came the Cosmic Chicken, which is brined in a special beer bath before being smoked to perfection. The skin was flavorful and crisp, and the inside was unbelievably juicy. It totally lived up to its name -- Cosmic. Half chicken with two sides $15 And we can't forget the lemonade -- truly fantastic. He infuses his simple syrup with lemon extract, and you can actually see the grated lemon peel floating in the drink. It was refreshing, balanced, and clearly crafted with care. Total for the entire meal with drinks $42. Incredible value, unforgettable flavors, and heartfelt hospitality. 10 out of 10 -- we'll be back. This place was easy to find thanks to Yelp. We wanted BBQ and found this little gem off the beaten path. Just a couple of guys serving up some amazing brisket and chicken. Our sandwiches were delicious as they had a great mix of sauce and crust. Really enjoyed the sandwiches. Go for the honey butter corn bread. I wish there were some treats on the menu. You're not going to find anything like this. It's like hand crafted smoked food. I will be back!

1000/10 food, service, hospitality, vibes - everything! Drake was so kind and welcoming and makes every order with love. We had just finished a spring snowboarding session after our 6 hour drive from Orange County and were looking for somewhere quick to eat. We are big foodies and didn't really expect Mammoth to have much, but this place blew us away. We were originally going to Schat's but was craving BBQ and this place caught our eye and I'm hoping it will for you too if you're reading this. We got an orange dreamsicle, the brisket sandwich with cabbage slaw, and a brisket place with cornbread and potato salad. The brisket was incredibly juicy and flavorful, so much that I preferred it without the barbecue sauce which should say a lot. I didn't have high expectations for the cabbage slaw but it turned out to be super refreshing and fulfilling. The sweet cornbread and potato salad is a must have no matter what protein you choose! The orange creamsicle tasted so fresh and creamy, I almost finished the drink before we got our food. Having the drink with the food after snowboarding under June sunshine is an experience I'll never forget. We'll definitely be coming back to try the spare ribs and the Brazilian limeade!! read more

Great BBQ spot!! We stopped about a month ago and tried the Brisket and some delicious sides -- there was great hospitality and it truly felt like a hidden gem. The owners spent time telling us about their process, and got to know us a little too. Today as we were wrapping up one last ski for the season we couldn't help but stop again! This time we tried their 3 meat plate, cabbage salad and cornbread -- WOW! The ribs were decadent - fell right off the bone and the sauce had just the right balance of sweet and spice. The brisket has a perfect mix of the crunchy edges and juicy meat. And the sausage was perfectly on point :) The sides were also wonderful -- crunchy and tangy cabbage salad, cornbread with a honey butter that could best be described as a frosting. I'm sure this will become a regular spot for us and we hope more people swing over to check it out!!! Thanks Embers!!! read more

This place! It's insane anyone goes anywhere else on the mountain. The only reason I can imagine this place doesn't have more traction is because of the location. It's tucked away in the back of a parking lot but seriously take the time to find it. The brisket is fall apart tender, the elk sausage is plump, the Mac and cheese is insanely creamy, and the beans and cornbread are southern sweet. Drake, the owner, does it all. Sweetest guy ever. Stopped by Embers after spotting it on Yelp--definitely one of the best food decisions I've made! We sampled a bit of everything on the menu, and everything was packed with flavor. The lemonade alone deserves its own shoutout--easily one of the best I've ever had anywhere. I went with the brisket sandwich, and it was outstanding. This is truly a fantastic BBQ shack in all the best ways! Unfortunately they were sold out of brisket. The pork ribs were amazing they were served with sauce and were very good. I would recommend ordering them dry. They were so perfectly smoked and bite through tender and moist they didn't need the very good sauce. The elk sausage was snappy and very juicy. Excellent. The sides held their own with the BBQ. The beans were a very good baked BBQ beans with meat and doctored up with a little spice and cumin. Delicious. The potato salad was definitely scratch made and rounded out the plate. Don't forget to enjoy a flight of local bourbon and whiskey from Devils Creek Distillery. They will allow you to enjoy your BBQ on their pick-nick tables. They share the out door space. What a great early evening dining experience. The bourbon was excellent too!!! Wow!! Stumbled upon this place merely by accident. Tried to go to the distillery but it wasn't open yet... then we noticed rhe BBQ stand next to it and thought we may as well try. What a find!! Everything we had was so good! The brisket is outstanding. Potato salad and corn bread both reminded me of what I grew up on, delicious comfort food. But the star of the show was the chili beans. The best beans I've ever had. It's basically chili meets baked beans. I could not get enough. I'm usually fairly meh about the beans at BBQ places but I would come back here specifically for these beans. We got to chat with the guy running the place (I wish I'd caught his name!) and he said they use fresh ground brisket in the beans. Delicious! read more

Very friendly, simple menu, great food, small comfortable layout. I tried the elk sausage, freaking delicious, corn bread is really good and I'm honestly not a corn bread fan but theirs is great. My girlfriend ordered the brisket and I tried some, also very good. If you get there early enough there's also a beer distillery 15 feet away so I'm sure they'll continue to receive regular, well deserved business read more

Wow!! So happy this place opened up in Mammoth. The BBQ is spectacular. We got the brisket and ribs, brisket was delicious, tons of flavor but not too sweet. The ribs were perfectly seasoned as well. If you're in mammoth, you have to check this place out! The food was delicious and the owner is passionate about his craft. I got the three meat plate and it was well seasoned and tender. The mash potato and fresh tomato salad is a must too! Also, for the price point, the amount of meat was quite generous too. Perfect for what I needed after a day of hiking! read more

Amazing BBQ, we travel to Mammoth at least once a year and just found out about this place. Please take our word for it, it's worth it and tasty. The costumer service is accommodating. The two owners greeted us with a smile and hooked it up with a free Brazilian limeade. Thank you so much! We ordered the brisket and a laminate, both tasted fresh and well made. The beef is a worthy second imo and the chimichurri is pretty unique in my experience. You get this wrapped up in an amazing crust. I also got an iced latte which was solid. I got my food to go for a group. I waited about 15 minutes. I'm not complaining, just illustrating that it's made fresh. If you wanted to eat here, it's a pleasant environment with tables and benches and a park, right next to the local recreation center. That also means parking is aplenty. If you're visiting the area this should be on your list.

Dave himself is a delightful man committed to his mission to help people eat healthier and feel better. Just know: this isn't your typical Mammoth "beer and fried food" spot. Dave (who previously worked at a large restaurant chain) started his Mammoth business as a food truck and now operates out of a dining room inside the very nice Snowcreek Athletic Club, which seems more like a community center. As a former personal trainer himself, the location is aligned with Dave's mission of living a healthier life and many of his regulars get their meals and protein shakes there after a workout. Just walk into the club, tell the people at the front desk who are expecting you to show your athletic club membership card that you're just going to All-American Dave's. They wave you in, then go upstairs. So it's a little unconventional and easy to miss if you're expecting a standard restaurant setup, but worth it. Unlike most restaurants that slather on loads of unhealthy butter and salt to make dishes flavorful, Dave uses none of that and relies on spices to bring out tremendous flavor. I've been working on eating healthier, and to be honest, I came away inspired about my own cooking after chatting with Dave. We had kombucha on tap, but no alcohol -- again, not healthy, so I appreciated the alternative! And, not that different than a beer. If you're craving something healthy and thoughtfully prepared, All-American Dave delivers. If you're in the mood for a burger, fries, and a beer... this would be the wrong place.

When we arrived the restaurant was fairly empty. Around 5:30. That should have been a clue.... When we requested them to put tables together they were so rude and acted like we were severely inconveniencing them. We're out to dinner with friends on vacation so excuse us for wanting to all sit together in your empty restaurant! When it was time to order I nicely asked if it was easier for the server to divide the checks by our 3 families as we ordered or wait until they brought us the bill. Server says neither could be done. Their "system" wouldn't allow it. It would be impossible.. So I said that was odd because I eat out at least 3 or 4 times a week and usually it's not a problem.. So I offer what I thought was a reasonable solution ... They seemed so put out that they had to put together 3 small tables for our group so I suggested entering the order as 3 separate tables .. Nope! Couldn't be done. Food wouldn't come out at the same time. I said we didn't mind that. I even pulled our table a little away from the other 2 and said ... Ok, now we're our own table.. Nope! Couldn't be done.. best they could do is put everything on one check and we'd have to figure out how to divide it up ourselves and they could run separate cards. Now here's the thing if you're reading this thinking I'm just whining and being unreasonable.... I'm giving them my business.. it ended up being over $300 of business for them. I own my own business so I know the value of customer service. If I make a reasonable request for something that is done all the time at other places and they flatly refuse and do that with attitude,,, that is a horrible customer service. They do realize they're in a service industry,right??. When they tell me that my request isn't possible thats a lie because I do it all the time. What they are really saying is that they don't WANT to do it or are refusing to try to figure out a way to accommodate our request. Normally I tell the server that if they can't figure out a way to fulfill my simple request and we have to do it ourselves I'll just deduct some from their tip since I have to do their job and it seems they don't want to be inconvenienced. But since we were a larger group they automatically hit us with a service charge. So instead, next time we'll take our large group to Gomez's which I hear is better and hope the servers are more friendly and more accommodating.

As I waited for my order I sat outside with my dog at a table. This was a really nice setting with trees, grass lawn and plenty of shade. The burrito came with homemade salsa, and it had some great flavor. This burrito was good and really took my hunger pains away. I was ready for the day and my next stop, Mammoth Lakes.

The bread was lightly toasted and complemented the meat well. The sides (Mac & cheese and potato salad) were as expected, nothing that's going to blow your mind. But let's be honest, the Smoke Shack is there to smoke meat and they're doing that better than most. Do yourself a favor and embrace the flavor of the Smoke Shack!

It's really only a 15 minute drive from Mammoth to enjoy dinner in a very lovely setting. We had reviewed the menu online before we came and already decided what we wanted. Unfortunately, they were out of both of those items. I server was Daniel and he was friendly and helpful in choosing other entrees. We split a Caesar salad, which was refreshing. For Andres, we ordered the venison and duck. My husband was worried about the venison, but Daniel assured him that he would find it very tender. Both of the nails were very good, but I think we ended up preferring the venison. The plates were beautifully prepared and served. Our food came out within about 15 minutes. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the service we received. We will definitely be back again and hopefully the lamb will be available.

People like a clean place to enjoy their lunch.

5 Stars If you're in Mammoth Lakes and craving some seriously good barbecue, Ember's Barbecue is a must-visit! This little gem tucked away in an industrial area is worth seeking out. The brisket was absolutely incredible - tender, juicy, and so flavorful that it practically melts in your mouth. You can see the perfect smoke ring and taste the smoky goodness in every bite. The ribs were just as impressive, falling off the bone with an excellent taste that keeps you coming back for more. Don't miss the elk sausage either - it's unique, delicious, and perfectly cooked. The sides are just as noteworthy as the meats. The cornbread was excellent, with the right amount of sweetness. The chili beans had a little spice that gave them a great kick, the potato salad had just the right amount of creaminess, and the coleslaw was unique and surprisingly tasty. I tried the smoked chicken, which was incredibly tender and packed with flavor--definitely a must-try. The elk sausage burger was a standout too. Embers BBQ is hands down one of the best spots I've eaten at in Mammoth. The food is absolutely killer -- smoky, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Emberz BBQ did not disappoint. My wife had the brisket sandwich, our kids shared the mac bowl, and I went with the two-meat combo -- everything was excellent. The brisket was tender and flavorful, the mac bowl was a hit with the kids, and the two-meat combo was perfectly cooked with great smoky flavor all around. You can tell they take pride in what they're serving. We also grabbed a couple of bourbon cocktails at Devil's Creek Distillery, which paired perfectly with the BBQ and made the whole experience even better. This place is a must go on your trip to Mammoth. It is a staple on my drive home, 2 sandwiches and an elk sausage! The cornbread smeared with honey butter is so moist you better get 2 drinks to wash it all down. The beans are another meal, thick and sticking to my ribs! This guy knows what he's doing. Do yourself a favor and before you hit the 395 home, stop here and stock up. Only smoked on property beef in mammoth I know of. Yum read more

Being from Texas when I saw 'Texas Style BBQ' I had to go and check it out for myself and it was 100% up to texas bbq standards !! the owner has a passion for what he does and took great care of my girlfriend and I traveling back home from a weekend skiing in mammoth.
