The Stove in Mammoth Lakes is a must! The food is delicious and hearty with large servings. The service is friendly and attentive. The interior has such a fun, nostalgic charm with the wood booths, vintage kitchen wear on the walls and old tin canisters of the food products This makes the atmosphere cozy and memorable. It is the perfect spot to fuel up before a day on the slopes or after a tiring day on the slopes- highly recommend this restaurant!

This is a very busy and popular and busy brunch place. It is known for their chicken fried steak. It was excellent and crunchy and not overwhelming with the gravy. I had the prime rib hash which was decent with the seasoned hash prime rib bits with potatoes underneath with an egg your style. The staff was very nice and attentive and service was good and the pies looked delicious but I didn't have enough stomach. The atmosphere was lively brunch and the place was bustling. It can be a little cramped but it's cozy and cute.

I was surprised I haven't reviewed the Stove. I've been coming here for decades. The Stove is the quintessential breakfast spot. They have a wide selection of breakfast options. Portions are generous. The food is freshly prepared and tastes great. Service is also very good. Coffee is refilled without asking.

    French Dip Deliciousness with fries

Group of 7 at 1:30pm 12/26/25 (they close at 2PM) and everyone opted for lunch fair. Cheeseburgers, patty melts, French dip sandwiches all cooked to perfection. 3 of us opted for soup of the day side (instead of fries) and we were treated to next level cup of flavorful meatball soup, maybe best ever?!Albóndigas deliciousness. Fries are solid, but the Zucchini Fries were plump, lightly battered and flavorful (see photo). Friendly wait staff and food arrived quickly. Only drawback, we never saw our waiter again - water glasses left empty and had to call into the kitchen (awkward) for to-go containers. Still, the kitchen staff overcame any shortcomings up front (and we arrived near closing) so we're going with 5 Stars!!

This is the place for breakfast in Mammoth Lakes! WOW. Low key, down to earth, honest to goodness, just like grandma used to make it. Generous portions, excellent service, and reasonable prices are just the starters. Everything is cooked to order, with fresh ingredients, and none of those "fresh-out-of-the-freezer" ingredients. The sausages, the country potatoes, everything was just perfect. Give yourself and the family a treat and stop in to the Stove to start your day. This is one I'm putting on my "repeat" list!

Must try breakfast spot! Service is great; very personable. Staff was attentive. Busy, but has outside seating. I would definitely come back. Food was amazing! Veggie omelet was packed with veggies. A lot of cheese so if you don't like a lot, I would ask for less. I also asked for homemade salsa on the side, very tasty. Biscuits are homemade, nice and moist.

BLAT with BEST Fried Zucchini on the planet (:-) !!!

Total 5 star fun and great food. We arrived on a Sunday at prime lunch time. About a 20 minute wait to get a table and another wait to get menus but HEY...it's a SUNDAY prime lunch time, so we did not think this was unreasonable. I ordered a BLAT with fried zucchini and a large ranch dressing. Blat is a BLT with avocado. The bread slices are not huge but even though I was super hungry I I had to take half away to eat later on the road trip. The reason I couldn't eat it all was because the FRIED ZUCCHINI WAS THE BEST I'D EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. I still love it even when it's just OK. But this is WONDERFUL. Why more restaurants do not offer it instead of fries I do not understand. Their "batter" HERE is spectacular and it is COOKED to PERFECTION. Please check my pictures. I will drive off 395 next time I'm near Mammoth JUST FOR THIS FRIED ZUCCHINI! Usually the ranch on the side at OTHER restaurants is not enough. It's in a small plastic container and half full. That's why I asked for a large...when my plate arrived, the ranch was in a soup cup. (:-) I was soooo tickled. That quadrupled her tip...seriously. Our waitress was awesome. I should have gotten her name to compliment her. My friend had a burger with a bunch of stuff he ordered "on the side". See the picture. His burger was pretty big and he was hungry and still took half away along with a few fries. Both our meals were GREAT. People were gushing over the PIES. You can buy whole pies as well as individual sizes they call Cutie Pies. They certainly look deliciously homemade. We should have gotten a Cutie to go. We regretted that later when we polished off our leftover meals at Topaz Lake in a turnout watching the water before our last leg home. If you live local you know The Stove...if you are passing by & looking for delicious food served by nice people in a fun casual environment, you will NOT be disappointed here. If you have the time for a nice 2 mile-ISH walk...mostly level-ISH check out the HorseShoe Lake Loop trail. I've driven 395 past Mammoth for literally 3.5 DECADES and we never took the time to stop. So this time we DID take the time and I'm thrilled we did. Don't pass Mammoth by for 35 years like I did...Go check it out and eat delicious food at The Stove! Vegan / veggie burger with vegan textured protein / tofu crumble
    Meghna N.

They have an amazing vegan option: get the veggie burger with no mayo, and replace with cucumber and spinach. I also got fruit and textured vegan protein sauteed (they called it tofu crumble or something but it's TVP). Incredibly tasty To the owners: I hope you can add the tofu crumble to the menu as I found out it was available only when I asked the server. Label it as textured vegan protein. So glad we stopped here. Cutest little country house antique vibe place. The veggie omelet was delicious with house potatoes. Perfectly seasoned and flavorful with side biscuit for small extra charge. Wait wasn't too long. Good service just know it's typically a full house so don't expect food out in a snap. Definitely check it out.

    Gravy train

Food was okay. I got the gravy train, in my opinion it was missing flavor besides the taste the portion size was decent. $4.25 for a small 8oz cup of juice was a bit of a let down. Service was good, nice workers. Can say it was a cute breakfast and lunch spot, but not worth the price I paid.

Huevos rancheros (not pictured friend serranos - a must)
    Christina H.

Always a great spot for breakfast. Ordered tuna on rye, huevos rancheros and a kids plate. Tuna was delicious and came with a heaping side of mac n chz. Huevos rancheros were delicious (tip: request fried serranos) and one kids plate happily fed both our kiddos. Service was great! Everybody was extremely friendly. Had kid menus for coloring which was appreciated.

Adorable country ambience (and pies to go)
    Zaundra B.

First time back in years and first time bringing the kids - it still slaps!! The people are nice, food is hearty and delicious, the decor is fun, and the coffee is flowing. Kids' pancake, egg, bacon did not have a bite left! They loved the scrambled egg (they are hard to please) and the giant pancake. Kids menus and hot coco kept them happy until food arrived. The Sunrise skillet and omelette were so good and filling! Love it all!!

If you enjoy breakfast, check this little place out. We were quick to be seated and staff were attentive and helpful. Very chill ambiance, plenty of space for party of five, and parking is around. The food is really delicious and enough to be satisfied and full.

Cinnamon French toast with bananas and nuts; yummy!!

This is unsafe and unacceptable, especially for children's food. The steak was ordered medium well, but was served well done -- completely overcooked. The chimichurri sauce was also misleading: instead of the classic green sauce, a red mixture was served that had nothing to do with it. The coleslaw was simply awful. Additionally, the staff showed no proper response -- we were not offered a replacement, a discount, or even a proper apology. This reflects a complete disregard for service standards and customer care. In its current state, this does not meet even basic restaurant standards.

We typically like sitting at the bar but bar seats were full so we opted for a table rather than wait. There are both high top and low top seating available as well as bar seating against the windows and fermentation silos. There is also seating outdoors if weather permits. The tables use a bar code scanning system to order food and drinks, then a person will deliver the food. I'm okay with this but I can see why some people would be frustrated with this process. For the appetizer we ordered the POBLANO ARTICHOKE DIP - $16 Artichoke, Poblano Chile, Corn, Cheddar, Colby Jack, Parmesan, Garlic, Mayonnaise, Sour Cream, Cream Cheese. Warmed and served with Pita bread or chips. We elected for the tortilla chips. This is a tasty appetizer and the perfect size for two people. For drinks we ordered two different hot cocktails served almost like a hot tea. Mulling it over - $17 Glass Creek Vodka, Mulled Spice Juice, Lemon. This was quite good and had a little bit of sweetness. The second was The Hot Toddy. $17. American Single Malt Whiskey, Lemon, Honey, Ginger. This tasted a little stronger and no sweetness. Do I think the drinks are a little expensive , yes. But sadly that is what you come across in a ski village. Personally I was a little shocked at how many families with young children were at the distillery but I've noticed that in almost every bar or brewery in Mammoth. Another good but different experience at Shelter Distilling.

We were very hesitant to try the Asian sticky ribs but it actually ended up being really good. I can't remember what the vegetable dish (4th pic) was called but it was also very good if you got a bite with everything in it. It had sweet potato, beet, candied walnuts and pomegranate seeds! Super friendly, attentive, and took the time to walk us through the beer options while we already had our food picked out. Service like that makes a difference. We started with the mushroom soup (soup of the day). It was fully blended and smooth -- no big chunks -- and while it wasn't the most memorable soup ever, it definitely hit the spot after being out in the cold all day. The Oyster Rockefeller was the highlight. Perfectly done. The oysters tasted fresh, the spinach flavor came through nicely, and the crispy topping added the perfect crunch. I planned to have just one... ended up eating two. For the main, we ordered the steak medium well. It came out more charred on the outside than expected, so it wasn't amazing, but still solid. The fries were great though -- especially paired with beer. Overall, the food was good but not extraordinary. However, the service -- especially from Alonso -- really elevated the experience. Because of that, and the cozy post-snowboard vibe, this earns 5 stars.

We arrived and were greeted warmly by our host and seated at a table in front of the fireplace. The restaurant is very small and cozy. Our server took our drink orders and brought out a bread basket. We all ordered the following: - Soup of the day (loaded baked potato) - short rib fries - oven roasted Frenched chicken breast - chicken Parmesan - pan seared chinook salmon - shrimp scampi There was a small hiccup when my 10-year-old son noticed another table had been served chicken tenders and fries. We weren't offered a kids' menu, so he had ordered chicken Parmesan from the regular menu. Not a huge issue, but it would have been nice to know kid-friendly options were available. Unfortunately, service timing became more of a problem toward the end of the meal. After we had mostly finished eating, our server asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. We said yes, and I gently reminded her we were celebrating a birthday. When she returned, she brought a complimentary birthday dessert with a candle (very thoughtful gesture!) but our dinner plates, empty glasses, and general table clutter were still in front of us. We also still hadn't seen the dessert menu we'd asked for, which made the moment feel rushed and a bit awkward. Needless to say, our server seemed to catch on that I was disappointed in the service towards the end of our meal. It seemed like she was the only server on the floor, too, which probably explained the lack of attentiveness and timing issues. Overall, the food was alright and everyone enjoyed their meals. It was an okay dining experience but the service could definitely use some improvement. For a restaurant with higher menu prices and a more upscale presentation (linen napkins, cozy ambiance, etc.), the level of service didn't quite match my expectations. I would still return as it could've just been an "off" night and their martinis were great!

It was very good. There was plenty of food and we even took home leftovers. We will visit again next time we are in mammoth.
