The Stove in Mammoth Lakes is a must! The food is delicious and hearty with large servings. The service is friendly and attentive. The interior has such a fun, nostalgic charm with the wood booths, vintage kitchen wear on the walls and old tin canisters of the food products This makes the atmosphere cozy and memorable. It is the perfect spot to fuel up before a day on the slopes or after a tiring day on the slopes- highly recommend this restaurant!

I ordered two dishes during my visit: Gravy Train (with scrambled eggs) - This one felt very worth it since it comes with potatoes, bacon, and a biscuit. The fried chicken was big, well-fried, and not dry at all. I really liked it, though I felt the gravy could've been a bit hotter. Still, I'd give this dish a solid 4.5/5. Country Fried Steak - Served with gravy and potatoes, similar to the Gravy Train but with steak instead of chicken. The steak was nicely thick and very filling. There's limited parking available. I went on a Wednesday so it wasn't too crowded, but I still waited about 20 minutes.

I've been here twice. Two weeks apart to be exact. : short and sweet - it's a good breakfast spot. Service: 5/5 The first time I came it was with a group of 7. The second time I went it was only 3. We got seated quickly. They took our orders fast, food was brought out very quickly for our party size and overall I think we spent less than an hour there both times. They are good for large parties! Food: Solid for a mountain town. 5/5 * Chocolate chip pancakes with bacon, eggs, hot chocolate, and the French toast. (I would order tho again multiple times). * Everyone I went with enjoyed their meal and someone even took a whole pie home. Parking: good if they aren't busy. The first time we went the whole lot was full. The second time it was fairly easy to park. Price: would land somewhere int the 25-30 dollar range per person and that's on the higher end

This is a very busy and popular and busy brunch place. It is known for their chicken fried steak. It was excellent and crunchy and not overwhelming with the gravy. I had the prime rib hash which was decent with the seasoned hash prime rib bits with potatoes underneath with an egg your style. The staff was very nice and attentive and service was good and the pies looked delicious but I didn't have enough stomach. The atmosphere was lively brunch and the place was bustling. It can be a little cramped but it's cozy and cute.

Group of 7 at 1:30pm 12/26/25 (they close at 2PM) and everyone opted for lunch fair. Cheeseburgers, patty melts, French dip sandwiches all cooked to perfection. 3 of us opted for soup of the day side (instead of fries) and we were treated to next level cup of flavorful meatball soup, maybe best ever?!Albóndigas deliciousness. Fries are solid, but the Zucchini Fries were plump, lightly battered and flavorful (see photo). Friendly wait staff and food arrived quickly. Only drawback, we never saw our waiter again - water glasses left empty and had to call into the kitchen (awkward) for to-go containers. Still, the kitchen staff overcame any shortcomings up front (and we arrived near closing) so we're going with 5 Stars!!

I was surprised I haven't reviewed the Stove. I've been coming here for decades. The Stove is the quintessential breakfast spot. They have a wide selection of breakfast options. Portions are generous. The food is freshly prepared and tastes great. Service is also very good. Coffee is refilled without asking.

We enjoyed our breakfast here, good food and good vibes. We were looking for a local breakfast spot while in Mammoth after Sunday church and came across this restaurant. We liked how it feels very homey and the service is good. Our server was very nice and she made sure we were taken care off. It was a pleasant experience and for sure we'll come back when we're in the area again.

Must try breakfast spot! Service is great; very personable. Staff was attentive. Busy, but has outside seating. I would definitely come back. Food was amazing! Veggie omelet was packed with veggies. A lot of cheese so if you don't like a lot, I would ask for less. I also asked for homemade salsa on the side, very tasty. Biscuits are homemade, nice and moist.

BLAT with BEST Fried Zucchini on the planet (:-) !!!

Total 5 star fun and great food. We arrived on a Sunday at prime lunch time. About a 20 minute wait to get a table and another wait to get menus but HEY...it's a SUNDAY prime lunch time, so we did not think this was unreasonable. I ordered a BLAT with fried zucchini and a large ranch dressing. Blat is a BLT with avocado. The bread slices are not huge but even though I was super hungry I I had to take half away to eat later on the road trip. The reason I couldn't eat it all was because the FRIED ZUCCHINI WAS THE BEST I'D EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. I still love it even when it's just OK. But this is WONDERFUL. Why more restaurants do not offer it instead of fries I do not understand. Their "batter" HERE is spectacular and it is COOKED to PERFECTION. Please check my pictures. I will drive off 395 next time I'm near Mammoth JUST FOR THIS FRIED ZUCCHINI! Usually the ranch on the side at OTHER restaurants is not enough. It's in a small plastic container and half full. That's why I asked for a large...when my plate arrived, the ranch was in a soup cup. (:-) I was soooo tickled. That quadrupled her tip...seriously. Our waitress was awesome. I should have gotten her name to compliment her. My friend had a burger with a bunch of stuff he ordered "on the side". See the picture. His burger was pretty big and he was hungry and still took half away along with a few fries. Both our meals were GREAT. People were gushing over the PIES. You can buy whole pies as well as individual sizes they call Cutie Pies. They certainly look deliciously homemade. We should have gotten a Cutie to go. We regretted that later when we polished off our leftover meals at Topaz Lake in a turnout watching the water before our last leg home. If you live local you know The Stove...if you are passing by & looking for delicious food served by nice people in a fun casual environment, you will NOT be disappointed here. If you have the time for a nice 2 mile-ISH walk...mostly level-ISH check out the HorseShoe Lake Loop trail. I've driven 395 past Mammoth for literally 3.5 DECADES and we never took the time to stop. So this time we DID take the time and I'm thrilled we did. Don't pass Mammoth by for 35 years like I did...Go check it out and eat delicious food at The Stove! Vegan / veggie burger with vegan textured protein / tofu crumble
    Meghna N.

They have an amazing vegan option: get the veggie burger with no mayo, and replace with cucumber and spinach. I also got fruit and textured vegan protein sauteed (they called it tofu crumble or something but it's TVP). Incredibly tasty To the owners: I hope you can add the tofu crumble to the menu as I found out it was available only when I asked the server. Label it as textured vegan protein. When our waiter delivered our entrees, he noted that he would return with the bread shortly. However, it never arrived during the course of our meal. After we finished eating, a different staff member came by to asked if we're ready for the bill. When I mentioned the missing side, our original waiter finally brought out a single, untoasted slice of sourdough with butter alongside the check. When I informed him that I no longer needed it since we had already finished our meal, he mumbled something under his breath, abruptly told us to pay at the front, and walked away. We received absolutely no apology for the oversight or for his dismissive attitude. While the kitchen staff did a lovely job with the food, the front-of-house service needs significant improvement. I highly recommend management focus on training staff to be more attentive, understanding, and considerate when handling mistakes.

No other business does this on Reddit. First, service is very slow and pretty haughty. I had to wait 30 minutes for a simple pesto chicken crepe. It tasted disgusting. I got the apple dessert crepe. It was full of little cubes of raw apple that just fell out of the crepe. There was barely any cinnamon or sugar in it. I also got the pesto crepe. There was a splash of pesto and a couple little pieces of chicken. 90% of the crepe is the bread or galette or whatever. The rest (which isn't much) is just thrown in there. At $16 each, this was a complete ripoff, even worse than the usual Mammoth ripoff. The ambiance is pretty good though and they have a nice wine bar area. I could see this place being good for breakfast, but it's not worth spending any more of my money there.

We hardly saw our server. She came once to take our order, someone else brought our drinks and food, then that was it. All other tables, including next to us, had their servers checked in on them. Ours disappeared. There were only 8 other tables filled up. After finishing our food and drinks, another server came up to us to ask if we needed anything else. This took another 10-15 minutes for the check to arrive...from our original server. The bill came out to $99.44. We left a $15 tip. We probably should have just left the tip blank due to the poor service and not knowing the trouble this would cause. A few days later, a $1,599.44 bill posted to my credit card. Yes, over a thousand dollars charged for a $100 meal. They took the $15 tip as a $1500 tip. I don't even know how someone could make that mistake since we only wrote $15 in the tip line. The service certainly does not deserve a $1000 tip. I still have the original receipt and we only signed for $114.44 marked in the total.
