First time visit. We came to Mammoth from Bridgeport for an early morning hardware & lumber run and planned on eating breakfast in town. After reviewing local restaurant Yelp reviews we chose The Stove and so very pleased we did. There is plenty of parking near and accross the street. The restrooms were clean. The staff were all wonderful, the menu extensive and wonderful seating outside. The inside tables looked great as well. We ordered a variety of skillets, denver omelette and the pancake breakfast with bacon. Everything was fabulous! We have returned since that trip for another breakfast and enjoyed the breakfast burrito and bacon and cheddar omelette both with crispy hashbrowns. Two visits, two 5 star experiences. read more

We've been coming to The Stove for over 20 years, so this visit was especially disappointing. While Kayla and was friendly and helpful, the male host was very rude. Our party of six had been waiting to be seated when another party of six arrived after us. Eventually, someone from their group asked about the wait, and the male host said, "We have a table," and waved them in. When we asked about when we would be seated since we arrived before the previous group, he claimed he had already called our name. All six of us had been seated, listening and heard parties being called--our group was never called. Kayla did apologize for the mix up, since she was aware we were waiting before the other group. Since we have been going to The Stove for years, we decided to give it another try, so later in the week, we pre-ordered three pies several days in advance and later added a fourth (Kayla added the fourth). When we arrived, only one pie (the one Kayla put in) was available, and we were told we could come back in two days--even though we were leaving the next day. The male staff member insisted we had changed our order, but the handwritten order sheet in the clipboard did show what we had originally requested. The other host was apologetic but told us the mix up was because Kayla (who wasn't there at the time) made a mistake and didn't complete the order. We explained that the male host took our order. We appreciated that she discounted the one pie we did receive. Instead of eating there, we went to The Warming Hut down the street, where the service was friendly, the food arrived quickly, and our food was good. We understand mistakes happen, but it was the dismissive and rude customer service of the male host --not the mistakes themselves--that made this experience so disappointing. read more

Very disappointed in my breakfast this morning. 5-20-2026. My breakfast included eggs, turkey sausage patties, BURNT POTATOES, and English muffins. With apricot & strawberry jam. The eggs were scrambled ok. Turkey sausage patties had no flavor and were dry. The POTATOES were the biggest disappointment. Country so-called potatoes were barely edible. Most of them were overcooked and not at all good. My friend didn't touch his potatoes for that reason. Best part of my breakfast was the apricot jam for my English muffin. I don't come to Mammoth but 2 times a year for the past 45+ years. My friend had a veggie omelette and said it was good. Another friend had French toast that wasn't, prepared to his specific liking. Ask for no cinnamon, but order still had cinnamon. (I know right. Who orders French toast without cinnamon?) ‍ Needless to say, the breakfast was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. I ordered two dishes during my visit: Gravy Train (with scrambled eggs) - This one felt very worth it since it comes with potatoes, bacon, and a biscuit. The fried chicken was big, well-fried, and not dry at all. I really liked it, though I felt the gravy could've been a bit hotter. Still, I'd give this dish a solid 4.5/5. Country Fried Steak - Served with gravy and potatoes, similar to the Gravy Train but with steak instead of chicken. The steak was nicely thick and very filling. There's limited parking available. I've been here twice. Two weeks apart to be exact. : short and sweet - it's a good breakfast spot. Service: 5/5 The first time I came it was with a group of 7. The second time I went it was only 3. This is a very busy and popular and busy brunch place. It is known for their chicken fried steak. It was excellent and crunchy and not overwhelming with the gravy. I had the prime rib hash which was decent with the seasoned hash prime rib bits with potatoes underneath with an egg your style. The staff was very nice and attentive and service was good and the pies looked delicious but I didn't have enough stomach. The atmosphere was lively brunch and the place was bustling. So I see on the Stoves website that it says " Wheelchair accessible, Disabled person parking! This is far, far from the truth!! Firstly, The Stove is my Absolute FAVORITE place to eat! Secondly, I have not been able to go there because the New owner over way over a year ago when she bought it assured me that she was getting the permanent Handicap parking sign installed! Nope! They had a plastic A frame 2 ft high thing out there and was ran over and broke the first week! They have a back entrance" Handicap entrance " that a person who is disabled would need to go through the Small pathway through the kitchen area! A wheelchair could never fit!! I've tried!! One item is all you need - CINNAMON SWIRL FRENCH TOAST. My goodness, I subbed this into the Stove Special and I was glad I did. Perfect flavor and texture to go along with my eggs and bacon. PS the bacon is also really good - such great flavor and crispiness, they do it so consistently, it's amazing. The staff are very kind, and show they're happy to be helping the guests. They are quick, efficient, and friendly. I'LL BE BACK EVERY TIME I AM IN MAMMOTH. Side note - Inside, it seemed like trying to get a high chair to a table safely would be an issue. Cheeseburgers, patty melts, French dip sandwiches all cooked to perfection. 3 of us opted for soup of the day side (instead of fries) and we were treated to next level cup of flavorful meatball soup, maybe best ever?!Albóndigas deliciousness. Fries are solid, but the Zucchini Fries were plump, lightly battered and flavorful (see photo). Friendly wait staff and food arrived quickly. Total 5 star fun and great food. We arrived on a Sunday at prime lunch time. About a 20 minute wait to get a table and another wait to get menus but HEY...it's a SUNDAY prime lunch time, so we did not think this was unreasonable. I ordered a BLAT with fried zucchini and a large ranch dressing. Blat is a BLT with avocado. The bread slices are not huge but even though I was super hungry I I had to take half away to eat later on the road trip. The reason I couldn't eat it all was because the FRIED ZUCCHINI WAS THE BEST I'D EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. I still love it even when it's just OK. But this is WONDERFUL. Why more restaurants do not offer it instead of fries I do not understand. Their "batter" HERE is spectacular and it is COOKED to PERFECTION. Please check my pictures. I will drive off 395 next time I'm near Mammoth JUST FOR THIS FRIED ZUCCHINI! Usually the ranch on the side at OTHER restaurants is not enough. It's in a small plastic container and half full. You can buy whole pies as well as individual sizes they call Cutie Pies. They certainly look deliciously homemade. We should have gotten a Cutie to go. We regretted that later when we polished off our leftover meals at Topaz Lake in a turnout watching the water before our last leg home. If you live local you know The Stove...if you are passing by & looking for delicious food served by nice people in a fun casual environment, you will NOT be disappointed here. If you have the time for a nice 2 mile-ISH walk...mostly level-ISH check out the HorseShoe Lake Loop trail. I've driven 395 past Mammoth for literally 3.5 DECADES and we never took the time to stop. So this time we DID take the time and I'm thrilled we did. Don't pass Mammoth by for 35 years like I did...Go check it out and eat delicious food at The Stove! Pretty delicious. The Stove is located in Mammoth. It's a local's favorite. They serve breakfast and lunch only. When my husband and I go to Mammoth, we have to stop here for breakfast. Their waffles are divine. You can choose your toppings for it too. Toppings may vary according to the season. Some toppings include strawberries with whip cream, banana and nuts, and blueberries to name a few. And the butter with the waffles or pancakes is home made and whipped to perfection. We hadn't been to the stove in many years because we typically eat breakfast early and then go out for a hike. We took a break from hiking and visited the stove. The staff was friendly, the food came out hot and everything was very tasty. We especially enjoyed the flavor of the pancakes, but would've liked them to be cooked just another minute or two more. I went there last year and I did not liked the beef hash I had but he said that the pork chop he had last year was good. So I decided to give this restaurant another chance. Both of us ordered the pork chop this time. The pork chop entree comes with two eggs cooked your way, potatoes with gravy. The pork chop was dry which was very disappointing. The eggs were fine. The potatoes and gravy were good. With both pork chop entrees overcooked and last year's beef hash also dry and over cooked, I doubt that I would be going back there. I wonder why this place has such good reviews on Yelp! The only thing I liked about this place was the decor. We ordered a cheeseburger and a grilled chicken sandwich that came with a bowl of soup. The soup was served on the same plate as the sandwich, which made the bread completely soggy. I brought it up, and the owner was very kind and replaced the bread right away, which I appreciated. That said, the chicken sandwich still wasn't good.
