    Pepperoni and Mushroom pizza

As a parent you eat a lot of mediocre pizza. Good pizza is always nice, an opportunity to share with friends or family, have a beer. Excellent pizza, you actually enjoy it for its own sake, and it's a nice combination of flavors. This place, though, now I get it. Easily the best pizza I've ever had. I put in an order on their webpage in the morning. 7:43 pickup time. Huh, that's precise. Okay. I show up at 7:35, it's this little storefront with no seats and little signage, but can tell I'm in the right place from the amazing aroma. I wander around the street for a bit, check out the taco place next door. 7:41, come back. Guy greets me, asks my name, says "oh, you're 7:43. Almost ready." 7:43 on the dot he takes it out of the oven, puts it in a box, and hands it over. I take it home and devour. The crust is light, thin, bendable, with a nice chewiness and a delicious flavor on its own. The sauce a little spicy, not too thick, just to flavor the pizza. A sprinkle of cheese. I got pepperoni and mushroom to go with a classic, and can actually taste the mushrooms. Cremini, I think? Half of it is gone before I think to take a picture. Phenomenal. Definitely going back.

This is the best NY style Pizza in Berkeley and perhaps the entire Bay Area. As someone from the East Coast it's incredibly hard to find a good slice, but this place nails it each and every time. It's takeout so no ambiance, service is quick and easy. He has a system, it works, the food is excellent quality. Everyone should try this place even if it's just once. You just need to decide in the morning that you want pizza for dinner and order online since that's the system.

After learning about the mental illness ordering process, I knew I had to sign myself up. I woke up at 7 AM, got ready for the day, then logged into the dial-up, Neopetz-esque website at 8:54 AM for 8:55 AM ordering. Once I knew what to get and readied my cart, I then had to wait until 9:01 AM to enter a RANDOMIZED QUEUE into another waiting list at 9:08:51 AM to select a time slot. For most people, they'll go "WTF!!" but for me, each queue lead me to get giddy and say "Here we go!" I was able to snag a 6:09 PM pick-up, and hilariously, the owner pulled the pizza exactly at 6:09 PM from the oven. The man knows how to budget his time to a T. I have no notes for Emilia's Pizzeria other than it's excellent. The owner Keith, who I briefly interacted with, seems like a nice and passionate guy just slinging out pizzas. I have to pull a comparison card and say that other acclaimed pizzerias like Rose's and June's all possess a certain "wow" factor that makes them unique. Rose's has things like a romantic ambiance, the Caesar, and flavorful white pies, while June's has the best marg in town and shredded cheese beds on their pizzas - a true stoner's dream. Much like the owner, Keith, Emilia's Pizzeria is humble. It's probably the best NY style pizza in the Bay. It doesn't possess that ostentatious flair, but just from pure taste and fresh ingredients it has that something special. I got the fully loaded pizza of Sopressata, Sausage, Pepperoni, and Extra Cheese, which Keith labels "The Forbidden" since it's extremely difficult to get all those toppings onto the pizza. While being the King Arthur Supreme flavor of Emilia's, I still found it humble. I didn't feel myself heavy after eating half of this bicycle wheel of a pizza. I felt full, happy, and hearty. And that's the magic of Emilia's - the heart of it all.

Well. I had heard all of the hype and after watching Netflix's Chef's Table: Pizza for the last few days I was craving some pizza so decided to pull the trigger. The ordering process is... odd. It seems like a form from 1999 and not in a cool way. I understand not wanting to pay for Toast or whatever other systems are out there these days but this was just plain bad. Saying that, I physically watched the pizza cook remove the pizza from the oven and box it so it was fresh exactly at my scheduled pickup time which was great. The pizza. I immediately noticed upon picking up my box how light the pizza felt. This is an 18" pie. I imagined it would feel slightly heavy. Upon further investigation I understood why. There was a minimalist aspect to the toppings. A thin layer of sauce, sparse amounts of cheese and a few pepperonis scattered around the pie. The crust was phenomenal, a crispy undercarriage and chewy center that is best enjoyed hot. Although I did wonder how much the sparse toppings attributed to the pizza not having any flop. All in all it wasn't a BAD pizza, but I wouldn't say it was a GREAT pizza either. For $36 I was expecting a little more. I'll probably be sticking with Pollara or Rose the next time I have a hankering for pizza.

Their pizza was very solid, but not outstanding in any manner. The service was prompt given the strict pickup rules, and overall I have no complaints here.

Great pizza, archaic system, pizza came out of the oven exactly at pickup time (gotta love NY efficiency) - so overall not too inconvenient and worth the try! -Gina Calabrese was yummy. Nice thin crust and tasty toppings. Personally I would've preferred more sauce and spiciness -I used the callback option - I filled out the form at 8:55am, waited until 9:01am for it to refresh, and there were many time options. Callback came between 3:30-4pm -Best of all was that the pizza came out of the oven right at my pickup time. So don't come too early or too late :) -Don't forget it is cash only -Only minus one star to be honest with myself - it was a good pizza but not a pizza I'd crave to go back to I recommend you try it!

Calabrian (the oil smear on my plate is olive oil I added to dip the crust in, not pizza oil)

San Francisco has great places to eat pizza. There is a pizza parlor for each neighborhood. Having…read moretried the majority of the pizza spots in San Francisco I decided to go to Berkeley. The city of Berkeley has brought good pizza recently to San Francisco like Rose Pizzeria. Going to Berkeley I have experienced great pizza places which are not located in SF. Berkeley has some great pizza places such as the Cheeseboard , Pizzeria da Laura and for the best Chicago style pizza at Zachary's Pizza ( actual fresher ingredients than most of Chicago )which both have no locations in SF. There a different pizza spot in Berkeley which serves fresh pizza with local ingredients and there is no spot in SF and it's called Sliver pizza. On a Summer day stroll in the sun in Berkeley I landed at the Telegraph Avenue. Inside there are plenty of seating and they do not accept cash. I ordered their POD also known as Pizza Of the Day. It had the Mushroom, red onions, green scallions , and it had a lemon zest which was sour like some in SF. It was a little cheesy and the sourdough crust was soft. It was tasty and you can taste the field to table ingredients in the pizza. They also have interesting pizza like the Cherry Corn Pizza like I saw on my social media feed. When in Berkeley you must try Sliver Pizzeria. Go to Berkeley for this is a "must" because they have a sourdough "crust" is a "plus" it's not too cheesy and very delicious and leaves some pizza places in SF in the "dust" This pizza place is to eat inside , pick up, and they do "deliver" I rate it more on gold standard side than "silver" fresh ingredients from the "Salinas River" at a pizza place in Berkeley on Telegraph called "Sliver"

Amazing pizza, great location, lots of interior space, slight sus bathroom…read more.. Food: Sliver is probably one of my favorite pizza shops in the bay, maybe in general. I went last week and they had a summer corn pizza that was loaded with juicy kernels of corn, fresh tomatoes and peppers, plus a ton of parsley for garnish. I am a corn fan so I knew I'd like this flavor. And I wasn't disappointed. Sauce: Sliver could even be more well known for its sauces. You have to try the green sauce! Perfect blend of savoriness, freshness, and a kick of heat! Location: right off the Berkeley BART station, This shop is super easy to transit to whether you're taking bus or the bart. Lots parking nearby too. Bathroom: maybe I just went too early in the day before the employees had time to clean up the bathroom, but it had no toilet paper, no seat covers, no paper towels, and the hand soap was simply in a cup that you had to dip your fingers into... kinda sus? Overall I'll definitely be going back because sliver become so popular because of their incredible pizzas and not their bathrooms!

Where I found room for improvement was the other. The salads were expensive and not quite worthy. The Caesar was pretty disappointing, and I love me a Caesar salad. It has some outdoor seating but the star is the downstairs area. We were a bigger party, and were able to snag a last minute reservation for 8 people in the much more casual upstairs space. The downstairs is smaller, but very mid-century modern classy with a great wooden bar, perfect for date night. Back to the pizza: It's really good. The pepperoni is delicious. We also went with a speciality pie with cured meats, arugula and hot honey and it was truly a great pizza. They offer a variety of crusts - NY style, Detroit, Sicilian and Grandma. I only tried NY style and it was so good but the others look decadently good. Prices are similar to other pizza spots, so you're paying $28-35ish for a large. They do have small available, as well. Overall, a really great downtown Berkeley spot. Great pizza, great for families, and while space is somewhat limited, it's still great for groups.
