I'm surprised I haven't written this review earlier as my family and I come to Elme's Restaurant a few times a year for a brunch treat. We've always had a great experience. The service here is fast! If you see a crowd waiting to be seated, don't let it deter you. Often times we are able to sit down, decide what we want, order, eat, pay, and leave within an hour's time. So they go through the crowd quickly. And all this is not to the detriment to the service. The servers are friendly, helpful, and patient. They also never make it feel like they're pushing you out the door, but instead just clearing plates off your table as you finish them as a courtesy to you. We've had a wide range of items the menu offers from omelettes, to pancakes, waffles, burritos, and oatmeal. All of them are great. None of them are life changing, but that's totally fine. They're delicious, fresh tasting, and come in excellent portions. I often leave the restaurant with breakfast for the next day. (Who am I kidding. An afternoon snack more like it). While we haven't tried everything, at this point I doubt there is a bad thing on the menu. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also very inviting. Lots of floor to ceiling windows brings in plenty of natural light and also opens the place up so that even though tables are close to each other, you never feel crammed in there. It's also never very loud so you will still be able to carry conversations with your party at a normal level. In all, Emle's is our go to brunch place in Northridge. My experience wasn't great. My avocado toast came with only three small slices of avocado -- if you looked at the plate, you'd think it was mostly an arugula salad. My friend ordered a bagel, which arrived about 15 minutes after my food, and while we were waiting, she was even offered another customer's plate by mistake. The table we sat at had to be recleaned while we were already seated because of leftover water and food debris. We also weren't checked on at all during our meal. When I placed my order, the waiter forgot what I had ordered, which likely delayed my food. Overall, the service and food quality didn't match the pricing and atmosphere. read more

Well, maybe not the best option for delivery as the delivery order food quality was not the same as when I visited the location. Ordered a tuna melt on rye, the rye bread was not grilled and it looked like it was not a melt, but an attempt to pass the sandwich off as one, the fries that came with the order looked like the were soaked in grease then plated, nasty. The NY steak and eggs were not memorable, not sure grade of meat used but no, not woth it. The menu is extensive and that may be the issue, jack of all trades, master of none. 3 stars since the in house visit before this delivery order was not great, but it was not this bad as expirenced with the delivery food. Nice little restaurant on reseda in the San Fernando valley. Came here Sunday a little before 10am for brunch with the wife. It was about half full - got more full around 11am - and you seat yourself. I got the emle's special which is ham, bacon, sausage, eggs, roasted potatoes and your choice of French toast, waffle or pancake. I also got orange juice. The food is on point, large portions, and tasty. I'm not big on pancakes but the ones at Elme's are outstanding and large. I had the veggie scramble, turkey sausage, potatoes, sourdough bread, and a cup of coffee. I nibbled on 's peanut butter pancakes and to my surprise it was delicious. The flavor of the pancake was so good I returned the next day and ordered a single pancake and coffee. The manager Sal and the servers were all friendly and welcoming. Though it was busy, the food came out fast and hot. It's a layback atmosphere, an open area with seating inside and outside. In Northridge to spend some time with our eldest son and girlfriend, they treated us to takeout from a local favorite of theirs, Emle's. Chicken burrito for me, 3 carne asadas for her. I can't quite remember the host's orders but everyone seemed quite satisfied with their dish. My burrito was extremely tasty, as well as the taco my wife shared with me. EMLE's is a hidden gem in Reseda, CA. I received a coupon in the mail and thought it looked good, but it can't hurt to try it. I get my bestie, and we go for brunch at 11 am. I drive by here often and never notice the place. Parking was crazy. It was in a strip mall so we parked on the street. Upon entering we were told to sit anywhere. the server came gave us utensils and asked what we were drinking. The server informed us that we could get a glass of Mimosa or Bellini for $1; the next one would cost $7.99. All you need is one with lunch or dinner. Awesome, we had Bellini and 2 glasses of water with lemon. Since she wasn't 21 a guy came over bought the drinks and took our order. The menu was full of all kinds of food breakfast, lunch, and dinner items. There was so much to choose from. We ordered Denver Omelet and Emle's Breakfast Crepe. The food came out in less than 10 minutes looking good. OMG, everything was awesome. Several guys came to the table to ensure we were satisfied and did not need anything else. Place was dirty. Table tops not wiped down even when it was not busy. Bathroom incredibly disgusting. Trash not taken out, unclean toilet and a scummy interior door knob to touch. Food was terrible. The salad was not fresh, old olives, and salad dressing that was old with a built up frosting type texture setting in the small round metal bowl. Clearly it was old and sitting in a refrigerator for days. How hard is it to fresh dressing? The chicken was rubbery, sliced thin and also chewed in your mouth like beef jerky. Excellent food and service here. They offer mimosas, with the first one being $1! Big menu and gluten free options including the pancakes, but those come with a $3 up charge and not sure if it's cooked separately from the other dishes. Not sure how I have never reviewed Emle's before...My family and I have been coming here for probably 15ish years. They have great food and a very large menu including breakfast all day! They are great about substitutions and there really is something for everyone here. Fresh bread and a delicious dip is served upon request. Some of my favorite entree dishes include the calamari steak, pistachio crusted salmon, and wild scallops with risotto, but I have never had anything here that has disappointed me. The servings here are substantial. They also have a fabulous clam chowder and key lime pie! Their desserts are always made fresh and the owner is very friendly. Additionally the food is quite reasonably priced for the quality and quantity of food they serve. In the evening they tend to be more slow so it is a great place to go if you are looking for a nice dinner where you don't need a reservation. The parking lot always has plenty of parking as well which is a plus. My only complaint would be that service can sometimes be a bit hit or miss but it's really only the negative thing I can say about Emle's. We tend to get take out there as much as we dine in and they honor the Yelp discount for takeout as well read more

Their customer service is exceptional, always joyful and patient when taking our order. The food is delicious! It has soft, buttery delicious potato's with sautéed spinach & mushrooms topped with perfectly poached eggs, feta or goat cheese & avocado. They have other traditional options to choose from, my family and I have had the pancakes, waffles, and omelette. I don't really like their waffles because they tend to be on the cold side and don't taste freshly made (granted it gets very busy so I can understand if they premake them). Great food, decent prices, expansive menu, and good service. The big portion of food will definitely fill you up and it's delicious too. A casual ambiance for breakfast or brunch, which is great for small or bigger parties. The Stuffed Frenchie, in particular, is my favorite for any sweet cravings! Parking is easy - there's a parking lot outside for the plaza that the restaurant is housed in. Plenty of street parking, as well, but just be mindful that there are college residences along the street which could impact available street parking. The food was delicious it needed some salt but i managed it with bacons lol. The bacon however smelled a bit like an old oil or fat not sure if that was the bacon or the grill. Composition-wise, the dish was a waffle with chicken strips, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. It didn't make sense to me conceptually, but I live dangerously (and foolishly). "I love both on their own. Maybe it's fantastic and I'm missing out!" I told myself. Composition-wise, it was a waffle with chicken strips, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. The side of potatoes, which were fine but under-seasoned. The chicken was thin, flavorless and Atacama-dry with the texture of roadside beef jerky. Despite being only a quarter-inch thin, some chef managed to imbue the meat with a rank musk of month-old fryer oil. The waffle was cold and soggy, with no taste whatsoever. The eggs were poached well, but barely covered in a tiny amount of foul, broken, sour hollandaise sauce. Despite the entire dish being under-seasoned, they inexplicably covered it with a huge dose of Tajín. Now, I like Tajín just fine on fruit and around the rim of a margarita, but what it was doing on this dish is a mystery I'll never solve. I really wish the sum of the parts was greater than the whole, but it was the opposite -- my breakfast was a cacophonous, discordant symphony of disgust.
