Smothered Pork Chop, yams, green beans, and cornbread

Not even lying, I was holding back tears of happiness eating this food!!! We got there at opening and there was a short line outside the door, but service was excellent even with being busy immediately, and of course that meant the food was FRESH out of the kitchen. You can tell everyone who works there has a system and I think is family? Honestly I would join their family to eat this food every day. My boyfriend got the meatloaf, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and cookie pudding (like a layered banana pudding that tasted like a fluffy cloud and had the perfect ratio of cream/pudding to vanilla wafers). I got the smothered pork, green beans, and yams with a delicious, perfectly baked strawberry cake with what I'm sure was homemade icing, light and smooth and not too sweet. The pork was so juicy and savory that it just melted in your mouth. The green beans and meatloaf had the BEST seasoning. Every bite made me feel like the critic in Ratatouille who senses his inner child eating at his mom's house. The mac and cheese, corn bread, and mashed potatoes were no slouches either. They were serving Thanksgiving coziness with every morsel. The YAMS. I mean. The light crisp on the surface of the bake, the expert-level control on the cinnamon use, all brought so much warmth to my heart, and I'm pretty sure it healed my soreness from yesterday's hike. Long story short, if you're a weary traveler missing mom's home cooking, looking for a cozy meal that soothes your soul and nourishes you for the trip home, and also don't mind crying in public while eating, go to EMMA LEE'S!!!

Meatloaf, smothered pork chop, Fried Cabbage, Macaroni & Cheese and Cornbread.

You can't go wrong with this place-just let the staff choose your food for you! That's what I did and I can't get over how good everything was. We had meatloaf, smothered pork chops, cabbage, dressing, Mac-n-cheese, cornbread, peach cobbler AND strawberry cake and would do it again if we had any room left. They are only open on Saturday and Sunday, so plan accordingly.

We discovered them about 8 months ago while traveling through, needing some less processed options than typical eatout food, and tried it. Sooo glad we did! So now that we're in the area again we knew this is where we wanted to go. We even ordered extra meals to take with us for tomorrow! Ignore the lower star reviews bc they have nothing to do with quality (and no, the food is not bland)! If you want fancy highly processed and over seasoned gut burning food, don't go here - go to an impersonal restaurant serving commercial processed foods. Mother Kelley's is true homestyle flavors, meaning it's not fancy but it's home cooked comfort food (real ingredients) like my grandmother's was (mid 20th century); you'll love it!

Every meal comes with a fresh (actual green and rainbow veg) salad beforehand. The touches in this place make it cozy, too - thick cloth napkins, stoneware plates and mugs. Real wood chairs. Interesting art on the walls. Plus, for drinks, they have something for everyone. Classic soda drinkers can get a homemade soda. Hot tea drinkers can get a loose leaf pot. Even milk for the kids. Servers were attentive but not overly so, knowledge about the menu, and willing to work with us on changes. The owner oriented us to the menu. Major bonus : while we waited for the food, we shopped at the mercantile general store attached they also own that has some really special whole food / locally sourced items. They are open for dinner every night after 5pm. On every road trip past Clarksville, I will return!

My issue was mainly with the personal interaction with the staff. I arrived just at opening so I had to excuse the unprepared host and their efforts still getting the menus folded and ready. As for the other interaction, and I really appreciated the information on where the food was sourced, however I felt there was no time to talk to my date as the conversation was overwhelmed by frequent and unexpected interruption. As for the beers, I would say they were ok. Nothing stands out to me on their characteristic, and I had a hard time finding one that fit my liking.

The flavors are rich, everything is seasoned with care, and clearly made by folks who love what they do. You can actually taste the intention in the food. I've tasted the chick'n spaghetti, cauliflower wings, and vegan shrimp. Each time, I'm licking the plate lol The vegan shrimp is my absolute favorite! The Mac & cheese, yams, and greens are all delicious too so sometimes it's hard to choose. Just know you gotta top it off with the spirulina drink. But it's not just about the food (though the food is bomb.com). The customer service is top tier and the whole damn place is just a vibe--from the energy when you walk in, to the little free library shelf tucked right next to the counter like an altar for knowledge and community care. I always leave here in a good mood. That right there tells you everything you need to know! This isn't just a restaurant, it's a staple in the community and I'm glad this business exists. Kudos to the H.O.M.E. for creating a place that feeds you on every level--body, mind & spirit. I'm already plotting my next visit.

Easily my favorite thing we ordered. The cheese curds were good, the salmon was solid, and the spasagna was giving cozy comfort-food vibes and was actually pretty good. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was the complete opposite. We were seated all the way in the back near an exit, next to a very large and extremely loud party. There were also flies in the area, which made the seating even less enjoyable. Between the noise, bright lights, and overall atmosphere, it wasn't a comfortable place to enjoy a meal. The hostess told us it would be fine to move to the bar, so we did. However, our waitress seemed very upset that we moved, even though the bar wasn't her section. Before we could even order drinks, the situation became uncomfortable due to the negative attitude and lack of communication. Instead of asking if something was wrong or if there was anything they could do to improve our experience, there seemed to be frustration directed toward us for simply wanting to relocate. What made the experience worse was the staff members were talking about the situation rather than addressing it professionally. At that point, we decided to leave without ordering. I've worked in customer service and understand that busy shifts and large parties can be stressful. However, guests should never feel like an inconvenience for wanting a comfortable place to dine. The difference between my first visit and this one was night and day. I hope management takes this as constructive feedback because the restaurant clearly has the potential to provide excellent service--I experienced it myself on my first visit.
