Great local Waxhaw spot! It's a tapas restaurant. Portions/dishes are perfect for 2. Plenty of food. We tried the pork nachos, wedge salad, burger sliders, and fries. Loved the fries!! They are served with cheese, homemade ketchup, and ranch dressing. The ranch dressing is where it's at!! All the food was tasty. Servers were wearing masks and we felt very safe with the baby. They were very accommodating. Even made some grits for the baby. The manager came around a few times to check in and fill our water. We will be back! read more

Even in the midst of a pandemic, and it's never ceases to impress us! My husband and I went here on a driving date, and we're so happy we did. This is one of our favorite spots in Waxhaw because of their interesting menu choices, extremely friendly staff, and low-key romantic vibe. I came to this restaurant on a Saturday evening. They have a large parking lot that fills up quickly, but it always seems to be moving so there's not a huge wait for a spot. We grabbed a seat at the bar, which is quicker than waiting for a table. The avocado was my favorite dish. I also enjoyed the fig flatbread, minus the prosciutto for next time though. I really don't care for prosciutto. The nachos were ok, not the best I've ever had. The service sucked. The bartenders took forever to take our order and to follow up with more drinks/food. It took about 45 minutes for our dessert to come out. We even closed out by the time they were bringing it out, so we couldn't really sit and enjoy it by no means. I would try this place again. Another great place in little town of Waxhaw. In a great historic mill conversion, with a parking lot. Big bar area, outside seating for the summer, and great seating with bar top tables inside. Busy place on a Saturday night, we had a reservation thankfully. Seated right away, we ordered the Rose wine bottle. Which was a great dry one. Awesome small plates menu, they seem to love balsamic glaze, seemed to be on everything.which is good because I love it! We ordered the glazed Brussels sprouts, which came with bacon and Sriracha honey glaze....so yum!...sweet and salty, perfect . Then the veggies lettuce wraps, filled with brown rice, peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, goat cheese and balsamic glaze. Great alternative to the meat ones, delicious and light. The caprese avocado comes with fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil, with the balsamic glaze! I'm not a avocado eater, but my friends lapped this one up and I ate the mozzarella which was indeed fresh. First time back since Covid. We ordered the Nashville Chicken Sandwich and the Kale Yeah Salad with Blackened Shrimp. I know that with Tapas the food comes out as it's ready but....The Nashville Chicken Sandwiches came out with the Mill Fries but unfortunately my salad came out about 7 minutes later. The Chicken was a little thin so being Deep Fried the thinnest parts were cooked to a crisp and a little dry. What about a BONELESS THIGH instead? My Shrimp came out lightly seasoned but nowhere near Blackened. I thought the Shrimp would come out on the salad but instead they were on a separate plate sitting on top of a little bit of shredded lettuce Oh well..see you again next month... maybe. read more

My family and I had a beautiful time here. We sat outside and loved the ambiance. This place gets busy and we had just arrived at the top of the dinner rush so we didn't have issues being seated. The service was phenomenal and I really enjoyed the food. I love the concept of ordering a bunch of different plates to the table. I'm the kind of person who likes variety and a little bit of everything, so this was for me. I can't say I was a fan of each menu item, but that's the beauty of sharing! The chicken and waffles were decent, the mac n cheese was decent, the wedge salads were maybe a bit too light on the toppings/dressings, the fries were awesome, the cocktails were great. My little ones enjoyed their own burgers, fries, and milk and gave their seal of approval. I'll more than likely be back. There's just something very warm and welcoming about this place. It's certainly worth checking out with friends and/or family. read more

We got Green Fried Tomatoes and Pork Quesadillas tapas size. Both of these were really good in taste and portions. My main was the crab cakes, which did not disappoint. The building is an old saw mill or brewery, not sure but it is an open concept with lots of space to move around and not be too close to other parties. Our waitress Kaya was charming and attentive. Updating new menus I tried so far. Hmm..seems like I visited every week lol my favorite menus are poke stuffed avocado, glazed Brussels and French onion dip! Can't go wrong with these options. Emmet's smoked mac was a bit plain too me. Expected somewhat spicy taste from jalapeno but there was none. BBQ CHX flat bread was okay. Too much bbq sauce taste for me. Prefer figgy flatbread. Pulled pork sliders always right. World's oyster sliders were good too but recommend to oyster lovers. Blackened fish tacos were not great. Prefer fried fish tacos. For Kicking chicken and waffles, I likes maple syrup glazed crispy chicken but waffle was mediocre. A bit disappointed with raised short ribs. White cheddar grids tasted so bland. Beef could be more tender. Still more foods to explore! The service is always good. They keep changing the menu so choose what survives on the menu! A great place for Tapas style small plates in the big town of Waxhaw, NC. Went with K on a Thursday evening for an early dinner and found it to be a very good experience. We were immediately seated and had service from Nicole who walked us through the menu. They have a nice selection of bottled wines and option for by the glass as well. They have a picker/singer playing James Taylor and the Beatles so it was nice dinner entertainment and not loud so you could have a conversation. We had the Brussel sprouts which are flash friend and have a delicious honey/sriracha glaze. We added the tuna poke which comes in a half avocado & the blackened Mahi tacos. It was all delicious and an overall experience. They have a nice sized outdoor patio with heat lamps and 2 large HD TV's. Plenty of free parking in the dedicated lot. read more

While out running errands before dinner. Walking out the store - we decided we wanted to try a new place and thought of Emmet's. We arrived about 6:15PM and put our name on the wait list. When we first arrived, the property is an old factory converted to a restaurant and a flower shop. If you drive around to the side and back - there are unique apartments with an open area for residents to grill. Was really cute and very interesting. Part of me wished there was a little more on the property such as store fronts for shopping. Parking was a bit tight but works. When we arrived we were told by the great hostess that the wait will be approx. 45 minutes. We were cool with waiting as this give us time as a family to chat and catch up. Before we knew it our wait turned from 45 minutes to 2 hours! Normally, we would have left after an hour of waiting and as parents making sure the Rugrats are fed. However, the weather so horrible Friday night. It was a down pour with lightening and thunder. Therefore, those that were already seated - truly took their time during dinner and was no rush to walk to their cars in the rain. We understood and decided to wait. The highlight of our wait time was finding a frog hopping around by the front door. The kind hostess caught the little fella and released it back outside. We finally got seated around 8:15pm which was extremely late for our Little Rugrats. They were such great sports but absolutely starving by the time we sat down. For appetizers we ordered Fried Green Tomatoes with pimento cheese. It was absolutely amazing! Crispy crust with firm hot green tomato that has slight sourness. Mill Fries was the other appetizer we ordered. The fries were just as good but what took it to the top was the sauces that accompany the dish. You have the choice of curry ketchup, which has an ever-so kick. This was by far the Rugrats favorite. I may have had the chance to dip a couple of fries into the curry ketchup before I lost a few fingers! LOL!! The homemade ranch and cheese dip was my favorite. The Mr. just like straight fries. Boy - we polish the fries in 2.2 seconds and had to order seconds. The plates are on the smaller size - very similar to a tapas. For the main course - Rugrat #1 order a kids cheese burger with more fries. Typically I would have cut them off from so much fry food but they were so hungry. I would have felt so guilty if I had taken it away from them. Rugrat# 2 ordered Nashville CHX which is seasoned fried chicken with slaw, pickle and Sriracha. Unfortunately, it was a kids meal so it did not come with fries but had enough from the appetizer. I had the Cajun-style Shrimp and Grits and it was delicious. There was a sauce on the the grits which I believe is the cheddar sauce. OMG - I could have just drank the sauce! It was so YUMMY! I'm telling it made the shrimp and grits AMAZING!! The Mr. had BBQ ribs with fries. Can you tell we love FRIES?!?! =). The Mr. said the ribs was really good and finished his plate. He didn't even offer me a bite! By the time we finish dinner, we were tired and full. We had no room for sweets. We will definitely come back to visit and try new things but maybe come a bit earlier to beat the crowd. We were hoping for a good tapas place closer to home. The speciality cocktails were $6 so I tried the sangria which was okay but not great, my husband got an OMB Copper which tasted flat. We decided to try the meat and cheese board and the Veggie Flat Bread. The food came out quickly and the meat and cheese board was really good although it was a little smaller portion than I expected for $15. The veggie flatbread came out next and I wish I had asked what the veggies were before ordering. It had red peppers, sun dried tomatoes and broccoli. All which I like but the combination together on pesto flatbread didn't work and it honestly didn't have a ton of flavor. For the 2 drinks and 2 food items it was about $45. We have visited this restaurant a few times since we moved to Waxhaw seven years ago. The first time we came, it was incredible. Hence the reason I gave it two stars instead of one. I can't speak to the ambience or the volume that everybody's talking about because the first time we were on the patio and the second time we were in a room with a large party. So we were probably the loud ones lol we had reservations and did not have to wait as long as others have said they had to. However, as I live in Waxhaw, and we drive by often there is always a packed parking lot and a considerable wait. I will admit that my husband and I are a little bit more difficult please as we are both in the service industry. Although we do tend to be a little more gracious when having a less than stellar experience because we are in the service industry and understand how difficult it can be to please the masses. But when the chef obviously doesn't taste their food before they send it out... That's where I have a problem I'm not saying every dish as I know that isn't possible but anything you make in quantity that's the number one rule! The mac & cheese had so much pepper. It's almost as if the container spilled and instead of tasting it to make sure it wasn't ruined. Or remaking it because dang how much pepper does macaroni and cheese need? They served it. My point here is ....as stated by a lot of the reviews, the food is just ok but priced as thought it were fantastic! There are so many amazing restaurants in Waxhaw now we probably won't be back. We love Emmets. Go there all the time! Love the Nachos, Brussel Sprouts, fish Tacos, Ice Tea and So much more! I do have one request though. While we love sitting in the Outside section, I can't help but get grossed out by the leftover food stuck between the tables' slats. I love it there so much that I will keep coming and stay inside. But if you agree to clean those outside slatted tables better, I will be even happier! read more

Party of two. First visit. Not too busy at our arrival--we were one of three parties seated outside. It was close to thirty minutes before anyone came to our table, and only after walking back to the hostess station and asking for service. I overhead one hostess tell the other "I told her but...", and I didn't stick around to hear the rest. Before that, none of the 3 waitresses or 4th staff member even acknowledged us, though they all looked our way and kept walking back and forth to the other three tables. When our server arrived, one who had not been out there earlier, there was no apology or explanation, but she did smile and returned to our table to check on us a few times. The food was just average, not bad, not great. From the looks of the place and their prices, I expected more uniqueness and flavor. The ambience is great. Beautiful establishment, interior and exterior design, comfortable and spacious seating. I'm a local and REALLY wanted to love this place. I had been waiting for the moment to make it there. Unfortunately it is not likely that I will return or recommend it to anyone based on their poor customer service blatantly directed at us AND then the mediocrity of the food related to its price. read more

I met a friend for lunch. The day was nice so we sat on the patio. There's a nice cover which blocked the sun. It made it a little chilly. However, our waitress was able to turn on the heaters for us, which was really nice. I had french fries which were to die for. They give you three different sauces all very flavorful. I had the shrimp tacos. I like spice, but just a little so I was weary about ordering them. The waitress is so helpful that she brought me out a tester of the sauce to help me make my decision. I was able to handle the spice and decided to get the shrimp tacos. They were delicious. Delicious! I ordered the Korean chicken wings for my dinner. Delicious! Delicious! I will go back at some point however, it is 45 minutes away from my home. Shout out to Bridgette our waitress . She was so helpful. While visiting the area from Florida we decided this would be a good spot to meet up with out friends. The restaurant is so cool looking inside. All the wood and industrial look is right up our alley. We ended up sitting outside which had a heater on which made it perfect to sit outside. The food was awesome. The question is what didn't we order. We started with the Deggs and Milk Fries. Then also ordered B&B and figgy flat breads. The deggs were so delicious they were ordered a second time and also to go home. We followed that with the Nashville Chix, Pork belly tacos, philly tacos, and chicken and waffles. The food was amazing. Atmosphere was great. We got there about 430 with little other parties there. It was very busy by the time we left which was around 6-630. The company was so good we forgot to take pictures of anything. They made room for our 3 infants we had with us. Everything was clean and everyone had masks on when supposed to. Emmet's is a new gem in the heart of Waxhaw, just past downtown. In a renovated building (which is super cool outside and inside), you'll find quality small plates. We took advantage of the outdoor patio for an after work cocktail and small bites. The first "must get" is their fries! Not only are they super crispy, but they come with three dipping sauces: curry ketchup, warm cheese, and a seasoned mayo (my pic.) (we almost ordered a second orderWe also split the fig and prosciutto flatbread, which was a perfect combo of salty and sweet. We also really enjoyed our fried green tomatoes and avocado caprese salad. (Note- they do come out as ready, so jus let be prepared for a staggered meal.) As for cocktails, we had moonshine margaritas and their "Waxhaw mule". Our waitress was very nice, and helpful in picking menu items. read more

Emmets atmosphere will win you over with its quaint and laid back atmosphere. This place is perfect for a group! I highly recommend bringing a group of at least six people or more. The food is brought out randomly and not the order you order them because it is tapas or smaller plates. We tried a variety of things from the devil eggs , wings, flatbread, kale salad, peach cobbler, nachos and couple other things. The devil eggs were my favorite along with the kale salad. The other food was memorable but nothing to go shout on top of the mountain about. What sells here the most is the atmosphere . I've been here three times now and every time it's for lunch. We've always had good service, the place has such a great vibe, and I love the patio. I've had the prosciutto fig flatbread, the BLT sliders and most recently the chicken and waffles. All were delicious. I also highly recommend the mill fries. They're a good sized portion and come with cheese, Curry ketchup which was good, and ranch. So there's something for everyone! Our first time here the waiter kept pulling his mask down to talk to us. While the food is a 3/5 the atmosphere non Covid is what would set this place apart. We like this place, it's very well done and has a great atmosphere. Was wonderful for a night with 2 other couples, but is good for lunch or date night too. Casual but not too casual (you can wear a dress and not be out of place, loose the sequin gown though - haha). The food - pretty decent....it's not 'stellar' and some things are better than others; overall a good dinner for a little-above-average price. I might say I'd expect more for the cost, but it's not outrageous, just a pinch high for the quality & quantity. Fav's are: Pork Belly Tacos, Fried Green Tomatoes, Grilled Pimento Cheese with Tomato Soup dip. Service is always excellent and very friendly! read more
