So glad the server explained a tapa style as it was our first time and so much fun! We had the Korean wings, Philly tacos, and chicken and waffles. So much better to share versus order something each. She suggested we wait til each plate came out before ordering the next. So glad we did. Price was so reasonable for three dishes. And the server even brought us water for the dog and a little fly fan for our table to keep pests away. The setting was so cute and servers were all so nice. The Caesar salad is maybe half bag chopped romaine, 5 cherry tomatoes, 5 croutons, 2 tbsp dressing on side with mayo texture-I didn't care for it. It's on a plate that's too small so it spills all over the table. For $9.00 without protein. I ordered the salmon protein with it but that never came so I can't review that. Just go to Food Lion and buy a bag of lettuce basically same thing. Pretty disappointing. I gave it three stars instead of 1 because a year ago I went with a group of friends and everyone had something warm and enjoyed their meal. So hot items are good just pass on this sad excuse for a Caesar salad. read more

We had been to Emmet's social, but not this one - so decided to gave it a try. Outdoor seating was perfect on a cold Saturday afternoon - heaters and fire pit kept the outdoor area warm and cozy. I saw crab cakes in the menu with a note that it's served after 4:00PM, so I asked the server if they serve can serve early (it was about 1:30PM that time), and she said yes they can!! I was excited to try crab cakes here - and those were delicious. Didn't disappoint at all. My husband ordered soup shooters and sandwich - he liked soup more than sandwich. But sandwich was good too. Since we were too hungry we ordered fries right away, hoping it would come early and we'll get to munch on something while the food is out - but it took forever for fries to come out. When it finally did, it was cold - queso was barely warm .. I informed the server and she was happy to replace it. BUT - took another 7-8 minutes before fries were out - this time it was warm enough to call it edible. Kitchen seemed behind - but not taking away any stars - we know how it is with restaurant business everywhere. Would love to be back for an evening in cozy outdoors. read more

Someone in our group recommended Emmet's Social Table for brunch. The atmosphere was very chill with a tapas-style menu. Katelyn was our server and was extremely energetic and excited to explain the menu. She provided great suggestions and provided excellent service. I enjoyed the menu items that were selected. The South Main Deggs were a cool take on deviled eggs. The ice cream (from a local creamery) that came with the peach cobbler was the highlight. This place is fantastic. We had friends visiting from out of town and we wanted to give them an experience along with enjoying a meal. So I suggested Emmett and I'm so glad I did. It does have the factor that it was originally a Cotton Mill but that is one of the things that made it so great. Over the years, historic downtown Waxhaw has evolved into a mini-foodie mecca and, in my opinion, Emmett's Social Table is the current star of the show. Located in a beautifully renovated old red brick mill on the edge of town, it oozes atmosphere and offers superb tapas and small entrees ranging from $6 to $19. It is also a well-supplied gastro pub. Be warned though, at an average of $10 a pop per quickly delivered order, your tab for two can quickly and unexpectedly climb to the century mark, but you'll have a great ride getting there. On our first dinner here on a Saturday evening, we opted for a heated outdoor table on their cozy patio. Service was friendly and attentive. We were serve by multiple servers who faithfully refilled our drinks. We started things off with a locally crafted draft beer and a well-rummed but smallish sangria, which was quickly followed by Deviled Eggs ($6) and Brussel Sprouts with Bacon ($6). Both were artistically plated and delicious. The sprouts are definitely a future reorder. Our friend ordered the Mac & Cheese ($7) and enjoyed it. For my larger plate, as they are called, I had the Filet Mignon Flat Bread ($11). Loved it but I found the amount of meat to be lacking. My wife's Avacado packed with Ahi tuna was also delicious. It seems to be a real favorite here. The shrimp and grits were tasty but were surprisingly displayed as three small stacks of grits, each topped by a single shrimp ($11). More of an appetizer really. Our friend seemed to like it though. Overall, we all really enjoyed ourselves. The place was packed when we left around 8:00 on a Saturday night. The employees wore masks but there was not a lot of social distancing going on. Still, it was great being amid so many festive people. Even though I wasn't completely full when I left, I loved the vibe of this place and intend to return. For now though, it's a Gotta Try in my book. read more

This restaurant came highly recommended from some friends, so after a day out, my husband & I decided to stop by. The service was great. Our waitress was really knowledgeable of the menu & gave her recommendations. We listened & ordered a few small plates. We started with the fried deviled eggs. My biggest complaint about that was the breading on the eggs. It was not seasoned at all which caused a complete blandness in the overall flavor. The pork belly that was supposed to be on top was pretty nonexistent. The saving grace was the pepper jelly which added a significant flavor to the overall dish. Next were the Korean chicken wings. These had a wonderful sauce on them, but I couldn't get past the fact that they were scorched/burned. That taste overwhelmed the chicken & once again, I was disappointed. Next was the wedge salad. At no point in time should the salad be the best thing you get & at this point, it was. Although it could've used a better balance of ranch dressing to balsamic vinegar, it was the best flavor of the evening. Lastly were the poke tuna avocado salads. It's a no for me. The tuna was good, the avocado was good, but the sauce to bring it together was pure saltiness. This could've been a great dish with an actual poke sauce, but nope. Not this time. Needless to say, I couldn't, in good conscience recommend this place at this time. It could've been a bad day, so I may give it a second chance later, but it's a no for me. read more

My husband and I are regular customers and have always loved the atmosphere, food, and servers. In the last few months they have lost 3 excellent bartenders and a couple amazing waitresses and the service has seriously suffered. I was in last night with a friend and the bartender was slow, less than friendly, and even walked away from us twice when we were ready to order. The person who brought our food rudely told me to take the plate because she was in too much of a hurry to set it in the bar in front of us. And the quality of the food was not the same. To cap it all off we were told they were closing at 6:30 pm because of a water issue and that we should finish our drinks and leave. All in all a horrible experience. I've heard that the primary staffing issue has to do with one difficult manager. Unfortunately, we will be crossing Emmett's off our list of favorite places to go and probably won't be back. read more

It will be difficult to describe everything that was awesome about Emmets, but for those looking for an abbreviated review, refer to the 5 stars, drive there, and enjoy! We were traveling and visiting family when Yelp presented Emmets as an option. The weather was perfect so we sat outside and arrived after the lunch rush, so it wasn't crowded. I can't speak to the level of service when they are busy but James was our server and was incredibly attentive to our needs. We have peculiar eating requirements among the 4 of us. 1 dairy allergy, 1 pescatarian and 1 mostly vegetarian (along with 1 normal eater!) And Emmets accommodated us all - and when certain dishes couldn't be adjusted (like the 4- scoop ice cream "flight"), James was always good about letting us know. As a social eating environment, there are numerous Small Plates to share and larger ones if you need extra. We tried several, including the fries, Brussel sprouts, veggie spring rolls, veggie tacos, tuna stuffed avocados and we loved ALL OF THEM. The spices, sauces and and flavors were divine (even the ketchup was flavored) and somehow, miraculously, it was one of the more affordable dining experiences we have had out entire trip. What a gem of a place!! Was visiting a dear friend and was in Waxhaw last week and she highly recommended this place. We rolled out of there with our bellies extra full. Our server Reagan was a delight and so lovely. She helped guide us through the menu and weighed in on what we were thinking of ordering. EVERYTHING was delicious. We ordered the South Main Deggs, glazed brussel sprouts, seafood Mac and cheese, smokin nachos with grilled chicken, kale yeah! and finished with the aww snap!! The stand out was definitely the seafood mac-good flavor combination-creamy, cheeses, and with a little bit of spice! I also enjoyed the kale yeAh! Salad-it came in a small bowl, but it was endless! History, good food, great atmosphere, right on the edge of Downtown Waxhaw. Enjoy a tapas restaurant in a 100+ year old building. The German Beef sliders were great - nice balance of flavors. The homemade chips with the French onion dip were seasoned well with the right level of crisp. The Korean Glazed Wings were solid with a great glaze but a bit the char was not to my liking. I've been to Emmets Social Table on a few occasions. From the outside, it looks great for a refurbished building and it has a lot of character. The parking lot is consistently full regardless of when I've been. When you enter, the interior is just as charming as the outside is and for me that's where the experience goes downhill. The hostesses seem to take their time even though they see us and they don't acknowledge us. When we are seated and check out the menu, it takes a while for the waitstaff to come over and when they do, there's no apology for taking a long time. Their menu is somewhat varied from seafood, sliders and tacos. I went with the Glazed Salmon and it was overcooked for my taste and the seasoning left me wanting. When the waiter came over to ask how was everything, I told them the salmon was overcooked and they said sorry about that. They didn't offer to have it recooked or offer something different, so that let me know how they treat customers who aren't happy with their food. I don't want to completely dismiss the idea of going back because Waxhaw does need small restaurants to support. I see a lot of 5 star reviews so maybe I'm the exception and not the rule. However, two stars is what Emmets Social Table gets from me today, hopefully your experience will be better than mine. read more

We reserved the private room for our son and fiancée's rehearsal dinner, since it is their favorite restaurant. We picked some of their favorites to be served buffet style, since we had many out of town guests, we wanted to be able to mingle. There were two dedicated servers, Cappy and Bridget, both were very attentive and kept our guests happy. All the food was brought out in rounds in such a beautiful presentation. This location in Waxhaw is the kinda place I can go to weekly. Service is awesome paired with a menu of small and large plates which are very tasty and freshly made. The fries are unstoppable with that smoky ketchup. And I'm not a ketchup guy! We always get the German sliders, which are sized like sliders should be on a pretzel bun. The pork in the tacos is very rewarding and tender. It's prob our fav dish with that pork I'm mentioning for second time. The service here is amazing also here. Our server asked the bartender a recommendation for a drink and it was out of the park delish. My wife had 2. We are coming back for more drinks and food. If nobody's tried a liquid Marijuana drink from the bar your missing out on paradise in a cup. The mouse cups are very velvety smooth and chocolaty. Chicken and waffles--four waffle slices with mini chicken tenders atop them were yummy and just a few bites of goodies! Shrimp and grit cakes( 3 per order) included the grit cakes with one jumbo shrimp on top. Good but not my favorite tapas. Fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese were delicious and fried just right! (4 per order) Poke stuffed avocado--awesome flavors of tuna and avocado in (4 pieces) creamy delicious flavors! Definitely a wonderful tapas! We have been here twice now and both times didn't disappoint. Wednesday is half off bottles of wine and Tuesday is $6.00 drink specials so you have a good excuse for a weeknight out. Service both times were top notch. We sat at the bar the 1st time and had a great conversation with the bartender. He made some great recommendations that we ended up getting on both visits. The oyster sliders and Nashville CHX are both "must gets". The Margharese flatbread last night was delish. I was not a fan of the spring roll as it was really tough to chew and only tasted like cabbage. I look forward to going back and trying a few more dishes. Tapas is by far our favorite type of food and I'm super happy to live 5 minutes from here. read more
