My husband and I are regular customers and have always loved the atmosphere, food, and servers. In the last few months they have lost 3 excellent bartenders and a couple amazing waitresses and the service has seriously suffered. I was in last night with a friend and the bartender was slow, less than friendly, and even walked away from us twice when we were ready to order. The person who brought our food rudely told me to take the plate because she was in too much of a hurry to set it in the bar in front of us. And the quality of the food was not the same. To cap it all off we were told they were closing at 6:30 pm because of a water issue and that we should finish our drinks and leave. All in all a horrible experience. I've heard that the primary staffing issue has to do with one difficult manager. Unfortunately, we will be crossing Emmett's off our list of favorite places to go and probably won't be back. read more

This place is fantastic. We had friends visiting from out of town and we wanted to give them an experience along with enjoying a meal. So I suggested Emmett and I'm so glad I did. It does have the factor that it was originally a Cotton Mill but that is one of the things that made it so great. The food is fun to eat, tasty, especially the goat cheese flatbread, which I loved, and the ambience and service is upbeat and friendly. We will definitely be back! read more

Over the years, historic downtown Waxhaw has evolved into a mini-foodie mecca and, in my opinion, Emmett's Social Table is the current star of the show. Located in a beautifully renovated old red brick mill on the edge of town, it oozes atmosphere and offers superb tapas and small entrees ranging from $6 to $19. It is also a well-supplied gastro pub. Be warned though, at an average of $10 a pop per quickly delivered order, your tab for two can quickly and unexpectedly climb to the century mark, but you'll have a great ride getting there. On our first dinner here on a Saturday evening, we opted for a heated outdoor table on their cozy patio. Service was friendly and attentive. We were serve by multiple servers who faithfully refilled our drinks. We started things off with a locally crafted draft beer and a well-rummed but smallish sangria, which was quickly followed by Deviled Eggs ($6) and Brussel Sprouts with Bacon ($6). Both were artistically plated and delicious. The sprouts are definitely a future reorder. Our friend ordered the Mac & Cheese ($7) and enjoyed it. For my larger plate, as they are called, I had the Filet Mignon Flat Bread ($11). Loved it but I found the amount of meat to be lacking. My wife's Avacado packed with Ahi tuna was also delicious. It seems to be a real favorite here. The shrimp and grits were tasty but were surprisingly displayed as three small stacks of grits, each topped by a single shrimp ($11). More of an appetizer really. Our friend seemed to like it though. Overall, we all really enjoyed ourselves. The place was packed when we left around 8:00 on a Saturday night. The employees wore masks but there was not a lot of social distancing going on. Still, it was great being amid so many festive people. Even though I wasn't completely full when I left, I loved the vibe of this place and intend to return. For now though, it's a Gotta Try in my book. read more

This restaurant came highly recommended from some friends, so after a day out, my husband & I decided to stop by. The service was great. Our waitress was really knowledgeable of the menu & gave her recommendations. We listened & ordered a few small plates. We started with the fried deviled eggs. My biggest complaint about that was the breading on the eggs. It was not seasoned at all which caused a complete blandness in the overall flavor. The pork belly that was supposed to be on top was pretty nonexistent. The saving grace was the pepper jelly which added a significant flavor to the overall dish. Next were the Korean chicken wings. These had a wonderful sauce on them, but I couldn't get past the fact that they were scorched/burned. That taste overwhelmed the chicken & once again, I was disappointed. Next was the wedge salad. At no point in time should the salad be the best thing you get & at this point, it was. Although it could've used a better balance of ranch dressing to balsamic vinegar, it was the best flavor of the evening. Lastly were the poke tuna avocado salads. It's a no for me. The tuna was good, the avocado was good, but the sauce to bring it together was pure saltiness. This could've been a great dish with an actual poke sauce, but nope. Not this time. Needless to say, I couldn't, in good conscience recommend this place at this time. It could've been a bad day, so I may give it a second chance later, but it's a no for me. read more

It will be difficult to describe everything that was awesome about Emmets, but for those looking for an abbreviated review, refer to the 5 stars, drive there, and enjoy! We were traveling and visiting family when Yelp presented Emmets as an option. The weather was perfect so we sat outside and arrived after the lunch rush, so it wasn't crowded. I can't speak to the level of service when they are busy but James was our server and was incredibly attentive to our needs. We have peculiar eating requirements among the 4 of us. 1 dairy allergy, 1 pescatarian and 1 mostly vegetarian (along with 1 normal eater!) And Emmets accommodated us all - and when certain dishes couldn't be adjusted (like the 4- scoop ice cream "flight"), James was always good about letting us know. As a social eating environment, there are numerous Small Plates to share and larger ones if you need extra. We tried several, including the fries, Brussel sprouts, veggie spring rolls, veggie tacos, tuna stuffed avocados and we loved ALL OF THEM. The spices, sauces and and flavors were divine (even the ketchup was flavored) and somehow, miraculously, it was one of the more affordable dining experiences we have had out entire trip. The homemade chips with the French onion dip were seasoned well with the right level of crisp. The Korean Glazed Wings were solid with a great glaze but a bit the char was not to my liking. What a gem of a place!! Was visiting a dear friend and was in Waxhaw last week and she highly recommended this place. We rolled out of there with our bellies extra full. Our server Reagan was a delight and so lovely. She helped guide us through the menu and weighed in on what we were thinking of ordering. EVERYTHING was delicious. We ordered the South Main Deggs, glazed brussel sprouts, seafood Mac and cheese, smokin nachos with grilled chicken, kale yeah! and finished with the aww snap!! The stand out was definitely the seafood mac-good flavor combination-creamy, cheeses, and with a little bit of spice! I also enjoyed the kale yeAh! Salad-it came in a small bowl, but it was endless! Good dressing on the salad-light, refreshing, and with a little tanginess. I'm a fan of Brussels sprouts-the glaze was yum-bacon and sweetness such a great combo. Get the awww snap! I've been to Emmets Social Table on a few occasions. From the outside, it looks great for a refurbished building and it has a lot of character. The parking lot is consistently full regardless of when I've been. When you enter, the interior is just as charming as the outside is and for me that's where the experience goes downhill. The hostesses seem to take their time even though they see us and they don't acknowledge us. When we are seated and check out the menu, it takes a while for the waitstaff to come over and when they do, there's no apology for taking a long time. Their menu is somewhat varied from seafood, sliders and tacos. I went with the Glazed Salmon and it was overcooked for my taste and the seasoning left me wanting. When the waiter came over to ask how was everything, I told them the salmon was overcooked and they said sorry about that. They didn't offer to have it recooked or offer something different, so that let me know how they treat customers who aren't happy with their food. I don't want to completely dismiss the idea of going back because Waxhaw does need small restaurants to support. I see a lot of 5 star reviews so maybe I'm the exception and not the rule. However, two stars is what Emmets Social Table gets from me today, hopefully your experience will be better than mine. read more

We reserved the private room for our son and fiancée's rehearsal dinner, since it is their favorite restaurant. We picked some of their favorites to be served buffet style, since we had many out of town guests, we wanted to be able to mingle. This location in Waxhaw is the kinda place I can go to weekly. Service is awesome paired with a menu of small and large plates which are very tasty and freshly made. The fries are unstoppable with that smoky ketchup. And I'm not a ketchup guy! We always get the German sliders, which are sized like sliders should be on a pretzel bun. The pork in the tacos is very rewarding and tender. It's prob our fav dish with that pork I'm mentioning for second time. The service here is amazing also here. Our server asked the bartender a recommendation for a drink and it was out of the park delish. My wife had 2. We are coming back for more drinks and food. American style tapas with delicious flavors!! My kudos for designing a wonderful casual restaurant that allows adults to eat tasty tapas and a kid's menu for family meals!! Our party had adults who are foodies and two kiddos who are selective eaters--aka finicky. We all enjoyed our meals!! Tapas are designed for sharing so we had a selection for four adults & we had enough for everyone to make a meal! Pork belly tacos (2 per order) were delicious with mango and tender pork. We ordered enough so everyone had one taco. I recommend this especially good to order extra if you're hungry. Fig flatbread goat cheese (6 slices) had the sweet fig sauce and creamy goat cheese on a supremely thin crust. Fantastic! My favorite tapas! Chicken and waffles--four waffle slices with mini chicken tenders atop them were yummy and just a few bites of goodies! Shrimp and grit cakes( 3 per order) included the grit cakes with one jumbo shrimp on top. Good but not my favorite tapas. Fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese were delicious and fried just right! We have been here twice now and both times didn't disappoint. Wednesday is half off bottles of wine and Tuesday is $6.00 drink specials so you have a good excuse for a weeknight out. Service both times were top notch. We sat at the bar the 1st time and had a great conversation with the bartender. He made some great recommendations that we ended up getting on both visits. The oyster sliders and Nashville CHX are both "must gets". The Margharese flatbread last night was delish. I was not a fan of the spring roll as it was really tough to chew and only tasted like cabbage. I look forward to going back and trying a few more dishes. The Nightwatchmen Pulled Pork, Korean Glazed Wings, Poke Stuffed Avocados & Mill fries. A great meal to split between 2 ppl and neither leaving hungry w/not a bite of food being wasted. The Poke Stuffed Avocado my suggestion would be to find another vessel to serve it in. It's kind of hard to manipulate the poke while also getting a bite of avocado. Pulled Pork I'm a fan of sweeter BBQ sauces like Midwestern style so for me not having to sneak a side of Sweet Baby Ray's well goes w/o saying & combining w/the coleslaw is an absolutely delightful blend of sweet & tangy. If this was offered as an entree or a larger standard size I would love it or as a "salad" w/o the bun even better just a heaping bit of coleslaw & pulled pork goodness. The food and the service are both fantastic! We had the best waitress when we went who was very friendly and bubbly. We got the chicken and waffles and the grilled cheese and tomato soup, they were both delicious (the pricing can sometimes be on the higher side depending on what your getting, both of these were about $16 each) i definitely recommend, the inside is so cute and so is the patio which is heated in the winter!! read more

Reunited with a high school friend at Emmet's tonight...I wish we had picked to go somewhere else. Cute restaurant and our waitress was good but the food was, simply put, bad. We ordered two appetizers to split: glazed brussels sprouts and buffalo chicken dip. Brussels had more oil on them than sauce, buffalo chicken dip could have been frozen from Harris Teeter. Very blah. She ordered a bbq chicken flatbread which she said was fine but did mention that the flatbread was very thin and fell apart on her. I ordered the figgy flatbread and actually ordered something else because it was not at all what I was expecting. Think super thin flatbread with a thick layer of SUPER sweet fig jam, three pieces of tasteless prosciutto, arugula and way too much goat cheese (and I LOVE goat cheese). I had two slices and had to push it away. I ordered the Nashville chicken sliders instead, those were decent. The chicken was definitely spicy and flavorful but I have a feeling it was defrosted and then refrozen as I could only bite thru certain parts of the cutlet. Other parts were so tough I couldn't even cut them. Can't speak to the drinks as I didn't order any. Honestly, the only reason I'm not rating this place one star is because I'm cutting them some slack - I came in on Friday night at peak time (maybe they were overwhelmed? It's flu season, maybe some of the usual kitchen staff was out sick?) I've heard good things about Emmet's from friends in the area, I find it hard to believe that this is how they usually are. Went here for dinner as a party of 5. There was a 30 min wait so we sat at the bar and had a cocktail while waiting. The place was lively not packed to capacity but busy. The cocktails were not bad. The cosmo martini was very good though. The service at the table was not great just ok. They serve tapas style plates and some food items were better than others. The German sliders, Brussel sprouts, and the quesadilla were my favorites. We also tried the pork belly tacos which had jalapeños and was just too hot to be enjoyed, fried deviled eggs which I am not really at fan of anywhere and fries. Others in the party had the braised short ribs and grits. I tried the chocolate mouse which was ok. Would not order that again but the others had the peach cobbler and said it was good. The service could have been better they were not diligent in clearing away the empty dishes which made things look disorganized and unappealing on the table. read more
