Amazing food, good service, intimate setting. The smoked rabbit manti was like a Turkish barbecue dumpling and was so, so, so good. You need to get it. Date cake was also an all-time great dish.

Highly recommend making a point to snag a reservation to dine at Emmett! Lovely welcome from entry to exit--appreciate the small foyer before you enter the dining room, which is the first floor of a standard Philly row home scattered with small tables and anchored by a bar. Enjoyed every course of our tasting menu, though there were a few must-reorder-next-time dishes: First: - Sesame Madeleines (baharat butter, peach jam) - I would have been happy with a bucket of these beside me. If I lived in the neighborhood, I could see myself doing what we saw another table do (i.e., come in for a drink and these madeleines and then continue with the evening). - Rye Tartlet (wagyu, horseradish, smoked mustard) - What a terrific little bite (or two, if you're me). Love the crunch of the tartlet shell and the balance of the flavors. - Chili Cured Tuna (pepperoni, banana pepper, hawaii cracker) - Lovely little zing of heat. - Fried Oyster Toast (focaccia, preserved lemon aioli, pickled celery) - Fried oyster, 'nuff said. - Lamb Kibbeh (sumac labneh, pickled pear) Second: - Sweet Potato Al Ha'esh (smoked raisin, urfa labneh, bulgur, fig) - Would love to be able to make sweet potatoes like this! Especially terrific with the sweeter figs. - Chestnut Cappelletti (braised rabbit, beech mushrooms, sunchoke) - Incredibly rich and delicious. Third: - Sea Bass (tomatillo harissa, celery root baba, stuffed cabbage, Maryland crab) - The sea bass was perfectly deboned and crispy and I adore crab! - Aged Ribeye (fingerlings, smoked beef fat hollandaise, matzo onion ring) - Solid plate with some fantastic onion rings. Fourth: - Date Cake (turkish coffee caramel, candied pistachio) - Not too sweet, but highly caffeinated. I couldn't not try it (tried to only eat the inside), but as one who can't have caffeine after 11AM anymore, it did keep me up all night.

Emmett is one of those spots that immediately makes you feel welcome, where the staff is warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly without being overbearing. From start to finish, the service matched the quality of the food: thoughtful, polished, and memorable. The Rye Tartlets were a great starter! The standout of the night for me was the Carrot and Fig dish, unexpectedly bright and balanced, with just the right mix of earthy and sweet. The Short Rib Borek Pie was comforting and rich, with tender meat wrapped in crisp layers that made it impossible to stop eating. The Parisian Gnocchi was pillowy and indulgent, almost melting with every bite, while the Lamb Loin was beautifully cooked and perfectly tender with deep flavor that really tied the whole meal together. Emmett feels both elevated and inviting, a place where you can celebrate something special but also just enjoy a night of incredible food and hospitality. Philadelphia is lucky to have it, and I'll definitely be back soon.

How was everything just right? I mean everything. The vibes were upscale but not pretentious. It felt welcoming right away. The food was perfect. You seriously cannot go wrong with anything. The service was incredible. I can't wait to go back to be honest. This might have been one of my favorite spots this year. You need to go right now. Log off and make a reservation.

An unbelieveable meal from start to finish, one of the best meals I have had in a very long time. The entire experience was memorable. From the space, to the staff, to the food, to the cocktails. Every single staff member we encountered was so friendly and on the ball. Always had an eye on water levels, resetting table in between courses, cleaning table in between. This was such a treat. The food and bar program are next level. The tasting menu is an absolute must when visiting Emmett. The portions are great, you won't leave hungry. And all of the food was out of this world. The menu is flavorful and eclectic. A harmonious blend of unique flavors and textures. Menu highlights for me: rye tartlet, smoked jonah crab, the sujuk cappalletti (hands down the best thing I put in my mouth all night), lamb loin, date cake and the grilled sourdough soft serve which was part of the blood orange curd. I ordered a cocktail, Bourbon Beets Battlestar Galactica. So good. I cannot wait to return!!

This replaced primarily plant based and i love right by so i had to check it out. Same vibe as before and layout. The only gripe i had was with the damn octopus dish. Delicious but why are you charging me 22$ for three embarrassing pieces of octopus, straight robbery To be honest, everything was really good, i forgot to take pictures at the beginning haha Best madelines ive ever had but also the only ones ive had were from costco. The butter or duck fat used made it really rich and decadent Overall the food is phenomenal and oir server was great as well

Incredible experience. I did the tasting menu and everything was incredible! The flavors and preparation are truley a higher caliber than the price tag. All the different sauces, flavors, perfectly paired textures. Fantastic execution. The service was great and waitress was friendly yet professional. Loved the whole experience! The only concern i had was speed of dinning. If you do the tasting menu its 8 courses. The 5 appetizers came out way too fast. I couldnt finish one before the next came. My table got a little overwhelmed with all the plates and i felt rushed. Then when it was time for mains it took forever. Food and service amazing but timing could use some work. Over all great food though! Must try! Ambiance was nice, small place but comfortable and intimate. Very relaxing time!

cozy vibey restaurant in fishtown, i've been waiting to check out this new philly restaurant! while i think that this place is solid, i don't think it lives up to the hype. the appetizers were honestly quite mediocre, the entrees were definitely the highlights. for our appetizers, we ordered the rye tartlets, the scallop crudo, and the stuffed squash blossom. out of the three, i enjoyed the scallop crudo the most, but there are definitely better scallop crudos in philly. the entrees, however, were good. my parents and i shared the agnolotti, the aged duck, and the ribeye. the meats were cooked perfectly. we opted to add foie to the duck which was decadent and flavorful. the entrees were fairly large as well, we had leftovers for the next day. we ended the night with the date cake which i was unimpressed by. my dad did enjoy it though, it's a solid option for a caramel lover. service was good, our waitress was attentive and friendly. our waitress originally suggested that we order an additional dish and we took her suggestion by adding the agnolotti -- but the portions were definitely substantial and we did not need an additional dish. the worst part were the bathrooms... they were disgusting. i walked in to find the toilet seat and floor tinkled over -- it was giving dive bar bathroom. overall, emmett was a good experience but for the price point, there are definitely better options.

Emmett has a nice cozy vibe with friendly staff throughout. I opted for the $140 tasting menu which was definitely very good value for the price -- I was absolutely STUFFED by the time I arrived at the dessert course, which I had to pack to-go. I did do the add-on tagliolini course which was delicious, but I wish it was substituted for another course rather than an additional course. I haven't been this full in a while, which definitely puts you in a weird position... you always want to get bang for your buck and lots of food for what you pay, but for this kind of experience with so many courses, it would've been more enjoyable if portions were smaller so that I could've enjoyed each different course with a little bit more excitement, rather then feeling like I was about to pass out. Good flavors and an all around good meal with quality food. Aside from the tagliolini add-on, nothing really stood out too crazy. Just all good quality courses.

Everything about Emmett was absolutely amazing. The servers were attentive and knowledgeable, the cocktails were innovative, and the food was delicious. We opted to do the a la carte menu because it was too difficult to choose just one of the second courses, and this was definitely the right move! We had the perfect amount of food and left feeling satisfied without breaking the bank by any means. The sesame madeleines were definitely a favorite. Seemingly simple, the rhubarb jam and vasudevan butter elevated this dish to the next level. Then add on the caviar and wow! The wagyu rye tartlet with smoked mustard was another favorite. I can't wait to be back and try even more dishes!

10/10 experience. This place is on a Main Street in northern liberties but you would hardly know it. On the corner of Hancock and girard, the door is tucked under an awning and the sign is hidden if you're coming from Frankford ave side. We walked right past it! When you walk in the vibe is cozy and intimate. The staff were all extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I had a little sticker shock when first pursuing the menu but let me tell you it was all worth the price tag. We decided to forgo the tasting menu in a bold attempt to save money but we ordered the most expensive things on the menu!! But they are pricey for a reason - amazing flavor profiles that are well balanced, hefty portions (especially on that rib eye dish), and truly things I'd never had before. We were all raving about the restaurant choice and I have to thank my husband for the recommendation. My favorite dish was the charred corn angliotti (pasta) and the chicken liver mouse (served with mini waffles)!! The pasta was creamy and bright, not too heavy, and like pillowy pockets of corn. The uni pasta sauce was so delicious but I learned I don't like uni so I wouldn't get it again because it was so expensive. I'd get two of that charred corn pasta though. Also I was so impressed with the mocktail menu. I can't wait to come back here. It was a great meal and I highly recommend.

Everything about Emmett was incredible. Celebrated a birthday with a party of 6 and everything from start to finish was exceptional INCLUDING Pennsylvania only wine selections such as Galen Glen sparkling Gruner and Pray Tell Orange Popsicle (yes. seriously!). Marisa (the GM) was simply charming and the plentiful wait staff was perfectly attentive and friendly led by Veronica T. Cocktails (also PA-based spirits) were crazy inventive. We had the tasting menu at $120 per head. This dining was like a NYC or Paris experience but right here in Philly/Fishtown. The whole menu was a highlight but the strip sirloin main was the crown jewel. The location is a corner storefront that has been beautifully converted with an open kitchen and a sit down bar area. We had an early (5:30) reservation and were seated right away. At first we thought 5:30 was too early but in the end the meal took about 3+ hours so we needed the time. Honestly can't wait to go back and to recommend Emmett to everyone.

Dessert- forgot to photo first but too good to miss the chance.

The dish was delicious. I enjoyed my plate of sea-inspired tonnarelli nero. Bay scallops in crab ragu with fennel sofrito. Served with squid ink pasta that imparted a slight brininess. The pasta was cooked pangrattato style-- coated in panko bread crumbs and garlic. The dish had many flavors but they all came back to the theme. **GOAT ITEM** FATTEH **Michelin Star Restaurant**…read more I love venturing out of our comfort zone and trying restaurant sub-types that I don't have where I live, such as Lebanese. Suraya is located in Fishtown a bit outside the city, but the Uber here was totally worth it. This restaurant is PHENEMONAL! We decided to go with the "A taste of Suraya" for $78 a person. Of course, we started with the Hummous, Baba Ganoush, Muhammara, Labneh, & Taboule which are basically 5 separate hummus that are served as an appetizer. 3 of the hummus I really liked: Hummous - chickpeas seasoned with tehina, lemon & garlic Baba Ganoush - charred eggplant seasoned with tehina, lemon, garlic & urfa biber Muhammara - roasted red pepper and walnut dip * seasoned with chili, cumin & pomegranate 1 Hummus was ok: Labneh - strained yogurt finished with za'atar, tomatoes, cucumber, olives & mint 1 Hummus I wouldn't eat again: Taboule - parsley salad with cucumber, tomato, scallion & mint * seasoned with lemon The absolute star of the night was the Fatteh. The Fatteh is: warm chickpeas, eggplant, crispy pita & tehina yogurt * almonds, cashews & brown butter. An absolute GOAT (Greatest of All Time) food item you can get anywhere. I could eat this thing all day every day. I've never had anything like it anywhere else. As my hot food item, I chose Makanek which were little lamb sausages. I thought they were fine, not out of this world good, but solid. To drink, I had a $16 Throne of Beauty which is: mezcal, ancho reyes, contratto bitter, pineapple, sesame orgeat & grapefruit Unfortunately I couldn't taste any mezcal in the drink so it was basically a fruity drink and not very good. I also had a $17 Obscured Hallows (Old Fashioned): elijah craig bourbon, rittenhouse rye, sherry, brown butter, semolina & date It was much better and exactly on point. For the entree, I had Kawarma: slow roasted lamb * baharat, dill yogurt, cucumber & pomegranate salad The server recommended this as his favorite item on the menu and it did not disappoint. I thought it was absolutely perfect. I made a reservation online. This restaurant is absolutely worth the uber trip outside the city. The food is top notch as was the service. Looks like a cute little area with a lot more bars and restaurants all up and down the street. Highly recommend! Get out of your comfort zone and try some Lebanese food, if you haven't had any!

The Mujadara was the biggest disappointment of all, at $26 as an entree it was absolutly the size of an appetizer and again with hardly any artichoke. They've fallen into the the trap of many restaurants in the post covid era. Either taste good and a rip off, or right sized in price and just average in execution. They are the former. There are some stellar, multidimensional reviews of Zahav on this site - for example, Bunker B's…read moremagnificent contribution.. I urge you to read that for an comprehensive, informed description of Zahav's place in the culinary scene. Here I offer a more quotidian review, with the emphasis on practical tips. I am going to cut to the chase: the pomegranate lamb shoulder is the stuff dreams are made of. Tender and tart. Accompanied by sides that are a work of art in themselves: fluffy Persian rice with a perfect crust. Greens with the right amount of sweet and sour to balance the other two components. The composed dish beautifully thought out and executed. And a little extra pickle just in case. Zahav has commissioned a red wine specifically to accompany the lamb, so be sure to order the Galia Dabouki if you get the lamb. Now for some practical suggestions: unless you have a hearty appetite, do not attempt the four-course menu. You will fill yourself on hummus, salads and dips and mezze, and by the time you get to the star of the show - the pomegranate lamb shoulder - you will barely have room for more than a few bites. I suggest you go a la carte, and pick wisely from the first two courses. I am even going to be heretical and suggest you skip the hummus. Yes, I know Zahav's hummus is famous. Maybe you can pick some up at Whole Foods to eat at a different time. Even the salatim - as masterful as they are - have by now been reproduced at other Israeli restaurants that have caught up to Zahav's Israeli avant garde. So if you ask me: pick from the mezze list and go on to the lamb. And about getting reservations: if you are a planner, go ahead and snag a reservation by going online exactly four weeks in advance as the website explains. But if you want to be more spontaneous, you can get a seat at the bar as a walk-in. You do need to arrive early for that. The day we were there - a weeknight in July - the line started to form a little before 5pm, that is, a little before the restaurant's opening time. Everyone in the line was seated, and there were still plenty of spots that only gradually filled up. No doubt on the weekend you would need to get in line a bit earlier, but it is entirely possible to do this without an advance reservation. So now I am looking forward to taking my own advice. I am plotting my return, and going in for the star of the show!

Some restaurants capture a culinary movement, while Zahav helped propel one. Middle Eastern food…read morenow occupies a far more prominent place in global dining culture, but Zahav was well ahead of that expansion, especially in the United States. Alongside internationally influential figures such as Yotam Ottolenghi and Eyal Shani, Michael Solomonov helped introduce a wider audience to the depth, variety, and sophistication of modern Israeli cuisine. Philadelphia is incredibly fortunate that he and his longtime partner, Steve Cook, built their defining restaurant here. My wife and I visited for an early dinner around 5:00 p.m. and chose the prix fixe menu, which remains one of the most memorable meals I have had in Philadelphia. The mezze was exceptionally fresh, the hummus completely lived up to its reputation, and the pita with za'atar was delectable. I also remember the rice (tahdig), chicken, and famous pomegranate lamb shoulder being delicious, while a cold Goldstar beer was a simple but perfect touch. Looking back at the food photographs still makes me hungry. Zahav creates a genuine sense of arrival before the first plate reaches the table. The elevated entrance sits above the surrounding shrubs and landscaping, making the restaurant feel pleasantly removed from the street, and we entered along the side beside the patio. Inside, the stone surfaces, stained glass, and warm finishes evoke Jerusalem's Old City without crossing into theatrical territory, while transparent windows along the kitchen reveal the work taking place behind them. Because we arrived while it was still light outside, natural light filled the restaurant; photos taken by other diners suggest that the fixtures create an entirely different glow after dark against the Jerusalem-inspired stone palette. As we entered, Solomonov was standing beside the pita oven to the left, and we were honestly a bit starstruck. We occasionally see him around Philadelphia, but watching someone with his global reputation doing such basic, physical work alongside the staff was especially meaningful. He struck me as a servant leader who remains close to the craft and the people responsible for delivering the experience each night. The fantastic service throughout dinner reflected that same combination of confidence, warmth, and attention. Solomonov's culinary talent is matched by a rare instinct for marketing, brand building, and community presence. His social media, cookbooks, retail products, and appearances in Netflix and YouTube food programming have extended his influence well beyond the restaurant, and he is as cool and charismatic as he is gifted in the culinary arts. A subtler strength across CookNSolo is the group's command of operations and technology, from its reservation systems and point-of-sale experience to the digital integration that guests may barely notice. Solomonov and Cook have created distinct concepts that operate with discipline without losing their individual character, and that balance between imagination and execution may be the most impressive part of what they have built. That judgment also extends to where CookNSolo chooses to open. The arrival of one of its restaurants can serve as an early vote of confidence in a neighborhood or development, attracting attention and signaling the cultural momentum that often precedes broader investment and excitement. Laser Wolf's presence in Philadelphia and at The Hoxton in Williamsburg embodies that philosophy, and I am eager to visit both locations, as well as Jaffa Bar in Philadelphia and Aviv in Miami. Zahav deserves to remain the focus here, while the broader quality of the CookNSolo ecosystem will unfold through the many other reviews I still need to write, including Goldie, K'Far, Dizengoff, Federal Donuts, Merkaz, and others. !

This is a small thing, but something to keep in mind if you are looking for a more intimate dinner! We will definitely be back to Almyra again! I recommend giving Almyra a try and don't forget to order the Horta!
