It was moderately crowded & the bar was empty. However, really loud in the dining area. We were promptly seated but it took more than 15 min to be acknowledged & offered water... The host/server finally came over, answered questions, & took our orders. My friend ordered the grilled chicken parm meal and a ginger beer. I ordered a build your own pizza with pesto & vegetables. 20 min later a huge fried breaded chicken parm sandwich was delivered. I insisted that he eat although I didn't have my food. The bread was fresh but chicken & sauce lacked seasoning & flavor. 5-10 min later the host/server said the kitchen lost my pizza order. Once I finally received my pizza, the toppings were fresh but the pesto was MIA. We expressed our disappointment and the server removed the sandwich from the bill. She also dropped off a to go box & pesto sauce, but no apology. We didn't enjoy this disjointed experience at all & there was no attention to detail. The pizza at Emmy Squared is really great! The crust is both fluffy and crispy. The combination of toppings and flavors is elite. I loved the Big Ang pizza with meatballs and ricotta. The garlic cheesy breadsticks were truly amazing. Our one issue was that they accidentally gave our Ang pizza as someone's to-go order, so the rest of our table got their food, but they had to completely re-make our pizza. So we had to wait another 20 mins while the rest of our table ate so their food wouldn't go cold. It was a little awkward, but the restaurant made it up to us, since they took the charge for the Ang pizza off the bill. And they were very apologetic about the mix up. The pizza is delicious, and the staff is kind. We would definitely come back here! And I recommend you check this place out. read more

Went on a weekend night and were seated right away. We sat close to the kitchen. The noise level was low the table was a large size. Our server was friendly and was overly attentive to our water. Any time we took a sip from our glasses he was right there to fill it back up. We waited a short time for our delicious cheese pizza to arrive. It arrived at the same time as our appetizer. The cheesy garlic sticks is essentially cheese pizza with the sauce on the side; however, the parsley pesto which is nut free added a nice brightness to the cheesy bread that was a magnificent complement to it. We had a quick meal at Emmy's and loved it so much that we will gladly trek back into DC for this Detroit style pizza sensation wow! Nice sit down place. I've lived in Navy Yard for over 6 years and never have been to Emmy Squared. Well that changed the other week when I finally stopped by for a late night dinner. I stopped by on a Friday night and it wasn't too many people there at the time. The space: Pretty spacious with plenty of seating and a small bar area for drinks. Clean and comfortable. Pretty chill and relaxed and not too loud at all. Service: Service was great. The bartender who served us was training but very polite and helpful and made sure we had what we needed. I would definitely go back to hang out at the bar area for a drink or a night cap. Food: We ordered a pizza with pepperoni and fried chicken toppings, fries, and a burger. I'm not terrible big on Detroit style pizza but this was pretty good. The fried chicken topping was HUGE. I actually ended up taking them off and eating them separately - they were that big. The burger was nice. Flavorful and tasty. Would recommend. The waffle fries were also pretty good. Overall I was pleasantly surprised and would go back for all of them and to try different things on the menu. Drinks: Had the old fashion and it was okay. I've had better old fashions. I will be going back to try other drinks to have a better assessment. Overall I had a great time at Emmy Squared. The food was good and the vibe was pretty low key and chill. I got a burger there in a made it keto style with lettuce wrap, but I thought the 17 some odd dollar price was a little bit too much. I've only been there for lunch on the weekdays, but they once offered $5 lunch specials - either a two squares of Detroit-style pizza (three varieties) or a Caesar salad. It might have been too popular (or people were only ordering one item) because the special is now $12 for pizza AND a salad (they've added a Brussel sprout salad as an option). Service is quick and friendly but expect a short weight because the pizza is cooked to order, ensuring the crust is crispy and the cheese warm and gooey. I hate to say it because this pizza spot is so close to where I live but out of all the pizza spots I've tried in the dmv area, I'd have to rank this at the bottom (and I love a good pizza spot). Ok so we'll start off with the pizza..I love thick crust pizza so I really liked that Al their pizza comes on thick, square pieces of bread. That's their most redeeming quality about their pizza, other than that I wasn't impressed. We ordered the Artie Bucco and added burrata (which was the highlight, trust me add the cheese and you won't regret it!). The pizza tasted alright, there was nothing memorable about it. We didn't end up eating it all and took it home. It tasted soo much better the next day but it's not a pizza I would go back and order again. Also the price of the pizza per slice doesn't make sense. It super expensive for a small amount of pizza. Compared to the majority of pizza spots in the area, it's probably one of the most expensive per slice. Ok so we also ordered two appetizers. The Zia fries, which there was too much sauce and the orange sauce threw all the flavors off. By itself, the fries are good, so we ended up eating the bottom pieces with very little sauce. Now I lovveee cheesy bread, and Emmy Swuared cheesy bread was probably the least favorite thing we ordered. I honestly prefer papa John's cheesy bread over this. There wasn't enough cheese to bread so it just tasted like greasy bread that you dipped in tomato sauce (and I mean greasyyy, you barely touch it and grease would ooze out of it). Overall, the staff was great, very friendly, but the food itself is not for me. I can now say I've tried Emmy Squared Pizza once and that's good enough for me. They do have a nice bar area and a wine deal on Wednesday if you just want to go there for a drink. read more

It's something about the buttery, crispy edges for me and the sauce that makes the pizza here a hit! Maura welcomed us with top notch service and attention, and made great recommendations. Emmy has been on my list in 2022 and we decided to ring in the new year trying this place out. Food and drinks were up to expectations. We enjoyed the holiday cocktails, and the appetizers and pizza were as good as they looked online. The unfortunate part about this business and operation was service. The waiter seemed to be kind of aloof at times (even scolded by the hostess), and forgot our order midway which took us nearly an hour and half to get our food. One of the staff profusely apologized and comped our entree. It was a nice thing they did, but I wasn't overall impressed with how they manage their operations. The restaurant was pretty empty, and I can't imagine if it was packed. The past reviews on their operations remain consistent to this day: it's slow and annoying. Our meal here was very good! There was only one server that night so it was a little hectic but he was super friendly and tried his best to take care of everybody. We got two pizzas - the angel and the big Hawaiian. I think we both preferred the big Hawaiian more but the angel was good as well. The angel was just a little heavier.
