I've been here a few times now and felt like I had to finally leave a proper review. This place is hands down the best pizza I've had in the San Ramon area. True New York style, fresh ingredients, and just consistently delicious every single time. You can tell they really care about the quality. It's one of those spots where you take a bite and immediately know you made the right choice. I actually brought a bunch of their pizzas to a gathering recently, and every single person commented on how good it was. Not one leftover slice. That alone says everything. The BBQ chicken pizza has been my go-to so far and it's an absolute hit, but I've been hearing great things about the honey ricotta and the margherita, so those are definitely next on my list. On top of the food, the staff really makes this place stand out. Everyone is friendly, welcoming, and you can tell they take pride in what they're doing. It just makes the whole experience that much better. Prices are very reasonable for the quality you're getting, which honestly makes it even more impressive. This review is for the pizza by the slice. Honestly, my first thought was that for pizza by the slice, it was quite expensive, almost $10 for a combination! However, I noticed layer a slice of cheese pizza is $6+tax, with toppings $0.50 a topping. If I had seen that earlier, I would have gotten a 1 topping or 2 topping. As for interior, it is pickup only, but looks clean inside. It didn't take too long for my pizza to come out. Presentation was clean, serving was large. As for taste, it was a thin crust, crispy on the bottom, heavy on cheese, light on sauce. Whole the edges were browned, they weren't blackened, and the toppings and cheese were not browned, but definitely hot and melted. Overall, it was good, with a very classic taste. read more

Shockingly disrespectful to not only serve this to a human being...but to actually charge for it? Lazy prep produced rubbery disgusting wings that were somehow both under and overcooked. I miss Big Apple. This used to be our spot for pizza so when we notice the new name we gave it a try. We ordered a thin crust pineapple and ham and it just doesn't taste the same. Sauce was too bland and non existence. Slightly undercooked and not flavorful as before. Still pricey even with the discount. Overall it's just average pizza now for us. Came here expecting to have a sit-down for dinner with my mother, unfortunately that was not possible as there is no seating available. My fault, but it just seems weird that they would have it. Ordered a margarita pizza and a chicken parm pasta to take home. We don't live far, but by the time we got the pizza back the bottom wasn't crispy. Not ideal for a thin crust pizza. Chicken parm was under sauced and rather bland. That said, the pasta was cooked perfectly and would have hit the spot if I just wanted a light pasta dish. Actually, both the pizza and the parm both tasted very similar. Not bad.. but not great either. Cheese was great, but the sauce and bread don't live up to the "Big Apple". I've been to New York many times.. this pizza ain't it. Even a NY slice will hold up to a ride home. It's worth a try, but just don't get your hopes up. read more

Ordered 2 pies for take-and-bake carry-out. We were extremely pleased with the quality of the pizza and the service overall. The restaurant isn't really made for big family dinners, it's primarily for takeout. That being said, I thought their interior showed a passion for pizza and pizza culture. A man who I presumed to be the pizzaiolo handed me my take-and-bake pies. I asked about cooking instructions, and here's what he told me: Turn on my convect oven (I told him I have convect) to 450, wait 20 mins before putting the pie in. Because it's half-baked, it slides off of the wax paper easily. Then just watch it and take it out when it's ready. As a home pizza chef, these instructions twigged me on that this place was the real deal. I followed them and the pies came out totally awesome. read more

Worth searching out this location on the far end of the Walmart building, past CVS, and around the dentist on the corner. Located in the former Pizza Hut location, facing Village Parkway. Takeout only but a park is located right next door for al fresco dining. So good I visited twice in 1 week. Slices and whole pies available. Premium prices but I'm OK with that because of the 1) high quality ingredients: cheese tasted like cheese, pepperoni like pepperoni, etc. 2) generous portion: slice is as big as a paper plate, they cut the slice into 2 slices for easier consumption 3) nice staff: the daughter served me on my 1st visit and the brother of the owner served me on my 2nd. Both patiently answered my questions. Taking all these into consideration, the pizza is a good value. Only tried slices because they're huge, sized like Costco slices. But taste much better than Costco. Love how the crust is tender with a crispy bottom. No flop despite the abundance of toppings. So far, tried the garlic chicken, combo, veg, and Greek supreme. Only wish they offered some of the bolder Indian fusion flavors like tandoori chicken and achari gobi. Tip: If living more than a couple of miles away, ask for the slices to be toasted extra crispy to prevent soggy bottoms. Mom lives on the San Ramon-Danville border with at least 4 pizza joints closer to her house than Big Apple. It is a 15-20 minute drive to this location. We happened to be in the area looking for a place to eat around 8:35pm on a Friday night. The original taqueria place we wanted to eat at had just closed before we got there. Anyways, we called this place. Hannah was super friendly and nice and said that they were still open but were closing at 9pm. We ordered a few slices: Meat Lover Pizza - Red sauce, italian sausage, ground beef, salami, pepperoni, ham and linguica. Combination Pizza - House Mix Read Sauce, Pepperoni, Salami, Ham, Sausage, Mushroom, Olive, Bell Pepper. New York Margherita Pizza - Red sauce, fresh mozzarella, sliced cherry tomato and fresh basil. This was my favorite. But oily from the olive oil. The pizza slices were huge. Thin crust as you would expect. It had a nice toasted crunch as you bit into it. We have been to this place for a few times because it's close to my house. Normally we order online and pick up in store. Not much of interaction with anyone. Today, I tried to order online again, but the system failed. So I called in for this time. Upon entering, I was greeted by the staff. I believe it's the owner who helped me. Super friendly. Store was clean. Menu was very simple and clear. I needed to wait for a few minutes because he remade my pizza as the original one was over cooked. He made sure the quality of his food and had a happy customer. Honoring the price for the two toppings instead of charging me speciality price; there's a miscommunication via the phone. 4++ this place feels like a family run small neighborhood pizza takeout spot that specializes in East Coast/New York style pizza. I would say it's perfect for a movie family night when you want some delicious pizza, because that's exactly what we did! I was in town visiting family and my niece and nephew wanted to watch a movie and we were all hungry. We found this place which is located in a strip mall near the border of San Ramon and Dublin. We ended up just driving there to order. I probably would recommend if you could call in your order ahead of time if possible but this was our first time here so we did a rookie mistake. Please note that this is to no fault of the business, and it was our fault entirely, especially since we went during peak busy dinner time. The person we ordered from was super friendly and helpful. She helped going over our options when we had questions. My sister-in-law and niece wanted a calzone, while my brother and I along with my nephew wanted to order a large pizza that was half pepperoni and a half Hawaiian. Because it was super busy at the time, she let us know it could be 45 minutes which is fine so we just went around the corner to the grocery store to pick up some groceries and drinks etc. When we got back the order was actually finished a little early, which was great. The pizza itself was super tasty. Both the pepperoni and the Hawaiian slices were amazing. A nice crunchy chewy crust and delicious sauce, topped with gooey melty cheese and fresh toppings. Definitely delicious and definitely reminiscent of the New York style pizza places that I worked at growing up in the area. I had a craving for New York style pizza, and I remembered Big Apple Pizza in the Country Club Shopping Center and decided to try it out. I was pleasantly surprised. I made my own 3-topping pizza (ground sausage, mushroom and bell peppers) with the original red sauce and regular crust. The crust was thin (as advertised) with a good crunch and a chewy outer ring. The red sauce was pretty mild (which was fine for me), and the toppings were not generous but ok. The pizza isn't going to win any gourmet awards, but it's pretty good-of-kind (and definitely better than some chain pizza joints I've tried). This is not a chain. Big Apple is a local family restaurant with 2 locations. I've eaten at both, and the quality is outstanding at both (Livermore & San Ramon). I especially appreciate the fresh ingredients and the lack of preservatives and chemicals, like what you get with the big chain pizza shops. The majority of the orders are take-out. The Livermore location has a couple of tables on the sidewalk and the San Ramon location is next to a park that has picnic tables. You can order whole pies, but we've found that the slices are so huge (actually a double slice) that we can order individual slices for each family member. That eliminates all the discussion/negotiation/settling for a pizza topping that everyone agrees on. I've tried all the pre-selected combinations on their menu board. (You can create your own custom combination, of course.) My favorite is the Meat Lover's, but the New York Margherita and Pesto Chicken are a very close second. The wings, gyros, and salads are good, but you really want to come here for the pizza. We only order the other stuff if someone wants appetizers or isn't in the mood for pizza. Oh, for a real treat, try the hand-filled cannoli. If you try one, you'll wish you'd bought half a dozen. read more
