I love their fried tofu! The sauce makes me crave for it. I did taste other dishes that uses the same sauce but prefer it on the tofu. The rest of the dishes so far has been so-so. We've only been there twice so will review as I get a taste of the rest of the menu. read more

The food is decent and the drinks are strong. They only get two stars because of this animal bartender they have in the afternoons, F-bombing like she is in her own home, and expressing her racists opinions for all to hear. Seriously? Having just moved here, we are looking for different cuisines. I've had some great Chinese before but this was just ok. The pot stickers were good although the sauce for them was far too thin. The beef and the chicken were undercooked and had to be sent back. The fried rice was far too dry. While the staff was as accommodating as possible, I just was underwhelmed. Best Chinese food in the Stubridge area, hands down! When you're ordering make sure to order their specials, you get SO MUCH for your money!!! I tend to get their beef & broccoli or boneless spare ribs and I've never been unsatisfied. Do not buy into reviews stating this is worst Chinese food they ever had. The food is your basic Chinese place fair but is done with nice atmosphere and cordial servers. Buffet is slightly above average but off menu is good. Either way is a solid restaurant and certainly no where near the worst someone would experience. This place has always been hit or miss since they opened. I suspect new owners have taken over several times. We use to come when they first opened and it was really good. Last time I went I watched some kid at the buffet drop food on the floor and to my horror watched him pick it up and put it back into the dish. I couldn't bring myself to go back after I saw that. Not surprised about them wanting to mix rotten meat into good meat. Indian restaurants are know to push the envelope like that also. These cultures HATE to waste so look out for that. I live two miles away from this restaurant, and I have eaten here more than seventy-five times in the past few years since it opened. The food is inexpensive, but consistently of good quality. First time it was an awesome experience! We were just passing by and looking for Kobe beef. While standing outside a guy came out, so I ask if they have kobe beef. He said they have a different beef but it is as good as kobe beef. So luckily without reservation he was able to get us a seat but we had to wait like 10mins. So he brought us all the way up, the place is very small which gives us the intimate and romantic feeling which is good for dates. We ordered maboroshi, kyukyoku and Ichibo. They are all marbled steak = high quality steak. The lady who served us, started with a beef fat and spread to the grill instead of oil or butter so you can only taste beef and nothing else. You grill it for a little bit and it's ready to eat. read more

Although not much to look at from the outside, I tried out the Empire Village buffet when visiting Old Sturbridge Village for a few days. It was a hit with my young kids, who loved being able to pick their own items, and I thought the staff were really quite friendly, even helping one of my kids serve their food. And for a buffet, the food was very good, with a much better than average selection of items. I'll certainly visit again next time I am in Sturbridge. read more

The best part was when my daughter took an ice cream cup from the freezer next to the salad bar and was chased down by the waitress telling us the ice cream cup is for dinner customers only and she can either return it or pay a dollar to keep it. Went here this past Saturday night. This place is the worst chinese restaurant I have ever been to - and not because of the food - the food is actually ok - the staff is absolutely ridiculous! You don't even put your fork down and they are there clearing your plate - if you put your fork down to breathe for a minute, bam, someone is there to collect your plate - it got to the point where we were joking and we'd put our fork down and seriously, the longest we counted was 10 seconds before someone came and confiscated our plate. There is a "team" of girls and all they do is walk around the dining room eyeing your table - I'm all for efficiency but this was a bit ridiculous - it's like they want to rush you like cattle to get you out of there so they can serve the next group. When we were finally finished - our check was on our table in like 6 seconds - a completely different girl walked over 5 seconds after that to "check" and see if our credit card or payment was there - we said we weren't done yet - a minute after that, a different girl came and checked to see if our money was down - it was downright rude - I will never give them my business again. Talk about feeling like you are nothing but a $ sign. These girls (5 of them) were either so bored that they couldn't help but just try and find something to do or they are told that they need to keep moving - it was horrible. I went here when I was 14 with my girlfriend. We walked in, asked for water and fruit punch. The waitress asked if I WANTED ALCOHOL in my fruit punch. I said no. I hate to give a negative review but please don't waste your time and money or risk getting sick at this place. I've waited a few years to write about this place, tried a few more times than I should have in hopes that it would be better than the last and that they'd have fixed the food temperature issues. It's close and convenient, I have teenagers and sometimes a buffet is the best solution for my family. Unfortunately, the food is awful. I have yet to finish a single item. One bite and I spit it out. The crab rangoons and rice noodles aren't bad but who screws up noodles? More than anything, I just can't get past the fact that they know some of their buffet units don't heat nearly well enough. Even if you arrive at noon for their lunch buffet, several sections are cold. Each time we've been, I've had to tell them 3 or 4 sections were cold. They already knew. They brought out hot items to our table. (20 minutes later) Ok, thanks. But how come this doesn't get fixed? The same units, cold, each visit, over a couple of years? Temperature control is a health hazard. None the less, the food here is food-court quality at best. Several people have said that to me so it's not just my own opinion.
