I was taken here by my training partner and former S St Pete resident. I loved the unique floor plan as soon as I walked in. A Great IPA selection, I grabbed a MIA Neon IPA to peruse the menu. OMG! The Menu is the BOMB! There are 22 Burger Choices and 3 Non Meat Choices (Veggie, Shrimp, and Ahi!) But Great Starters, Salads, Specialty Hot Dogs, Entrees, and yummy sides also raise the Menu up! Chipotle Mayo with fries to die for. We chose the Saganiki and the Black n Blue Burger, both unique in their own right, both delicious! We headed to Engine No. 9 after a beach day and, let me forewarn you... Find a designated driver or someone who won't fall asleep at the wheel because hello, food coma! This place was PACKED during our first visit and I can understand why. When you walk in, you're greeted with a huge bar area that takes up the ​majority of the restaurant. The bar is open seating if the waiting list is too long for your liking. But let's talk about the great selection of burgers. I went for the Demi-God, my boyfriend ordered the Heart Attack, and our friend had his eye on Marie Laveau. When they arrived, we barely exchanged words as we were so invested in our individual burgers. Does that say enough for you as to how good these burgers were? Tried this spot off a recommendation and it was delicious! Went here on a Sunday around 5pm and it wasn't too busy. Service was great and the food came out quickly. We ordered the Alice In Pain and the Chili Dog (saw a picture and was craving one ‍) and both items were full of flavor. We got tater tots and sweet potato fries as our sides. The sweet potato fries had just the right amount of crispiness and sweetness to them. There are so many tempting options on the menu, it was hard to choose. So many glowing reviews led me here on a quest for dinner. I was hoping I could do the split two things with someone thing so I could have part of a burger and part of a salad and not feel so guilty about it. Ended up trying the wine-o burger, which was absolutely fantastic.Tater tots? Also really good and reminiscent of on-campus college breakfast. The salad though was pretty underwhelming. Mostly yellow romaine, not the right cheese on it, and overall it felt like an afterthought on their menu. The burger was gourmet, and the salad was barely a step above prepackaged McD's. If this is how they always are, they should just take them off the menu completely. The ambiance is nice as it's a more upscale sports bar; it wasn't very brightly lit, there are individual TVs at each booth (though is that really necessary?), and the L-shaped restaurant has no real option to accommodate large groups. Our waitress was very nice and checked in on us a couple times throughout our visit, but things were getting super busy by the time we left and getting the check took a while. As for burgers, I definitely prefer them over El Cap, but that crummy salad knocked a star off my experience, and the fact that it's even on that menu should knock it down another star. First time trying Engine No. 9, which seems to be a crowd favorite here in St. Pete! I knew what I had to order the moment I saw it: XXX Burger. For one reason and one reason alone, the pretzel bun. I have a soft spot for a soft pretzel bun. Called in my order and was quoted a 10 minute wait. Sure enough I arrived within 10 minutes and it was ready to go! It was packed well and included mayo, ketchup and mustard. The burger itself was really great and the pretzel bun totally delivered. I ordered the regular fries. They were decent enough. It was nice to exchange smiles and waves with another human. I am excited to return for a traditional dine-in experience. read more

I heard so many great things about this place, especially their sriracha wings. I wasn't sure about going since I don't eat red meat but I'm glad I did. They do have an vegetarian option, the thin lizzy and they will substitute a grilled chicken breast instead of the hamburg patty. If you are a big TV person, each both has a TV which allows you to choose what ever channel you want to watch. Pretty cool concept if you don't want to miss a show or if you are out to watch a game with friends. I didn't use the TV since I was there to spend time with friends so I don't know if they have a large variety of channels. So I ended up getting the thin lizzy which is a portabella sandwich with truffle goat cheese, and roasted veggies. So tasty, one of the best portabella sandwiches I've had. When burgers exceed $16 I expect them to be amazing. While this burger was good because it was beyond well done - as a result, I can't give it a full five stars. I was there Sunday to watch the bucks game and to watch the patriots game. Patriots didn't do so good, bucks won. They were busy because they are well known for their fantastic burgers. Then I noticed to my left and to my right, a couple of other people were doing the same thing. Then I felt like I was in good company. There are a lot of interesting burgers to choose from on the menu. I got the Border Line burger which contains a mix of ingredients like guacamole and pancetta. The patty was seasoned well and the ingredients on top were plentiful which made the burger messy to eat, which I actually like and caused the mentioned finger liking.
