The gentleman was pleasant enough and said that a tech would call me before EOD. I received a TEXT from Abi, not a call, at 6:08 pm. I never had someone text me instructions about a potential home visit before but, as I'm desperate for repairs, I went with it despite my reluctance. I asked in the text to have the tech please share their license and credentials. I don't know these people. I just needed to know who I'm letting into my home. I received a call from a gentleman I assumed to be the owner or operator who took umbrage at me asking for the credentials of the tech, and proceeded to call it "weird" (that is the word he used) that I'd ask since, and I quote, "all we're doing is an estimate." I don't care if you were building the Ark of the Covenant divined by God himself, I am not letting someone in my home without knowing fully who they are. Call it paranoia, call it weird as that person did, but they can take that attitude and go the other way. I'll find someone else.

I don't mean to brag ...but, we're sort of frequent flyers there. We were introduced to John Pletcher, RestorTech's owner, and his crew in July 2011, after our house was struck by lightning and caught fire. We had a lot of structural damage but lost surprisingly little of our personal belongings and household furnishings. RestorTech came out and packed up everything in our house. The pack-out and moving process took about a week and a half. It happened during an awful heat wave with daytime temperatures exceeding 100 each day. The entire crew worked (and sweated) their butts off. All of our belongings were professionally packed, cleaned up/restored and held in storage until a little over a year later, when our home repairs were completed. When it was time to move back into our home, John made sure to send the same crew out to move us back in. Our move-in was more comfortable for the crew because we had working air conditioning unlike during the pack-out. It was wonderful to see them again and it kind of felt somewhat like going to a reunion and seeing friends you haven't seen in a long time. All of our belongings and "stuff" were returned in great condition and several things came back in better condition than when they left. For example, I have a family heirloom desk that belonged to my mom. One of the legs was broken and I just never got around it having it fixed but it was fixed when RestorTech returned it to us. The second and third encounters with RestorTech were for water damage from a burst pipe. They got out here so fast and did such a great job so that only the padding under the carpet was ruined. They were able to extract the water out of the carpet and once it fully dried we just had to replace the section of padding that had been ruined. The cost of those two water encounters was very reasonable which made us happy because we paid out of pocket for those instead of making an insurance claim. There were one or two more minor events where they came to our rescue as well. Throughout all of our history with RestorTech we've worked closely with Molly. She and I, well, we're practically BFF's at this point. Okay, I may have exaggerated that slightly, but seriously, Molly is amazing and we adore her. RestorTech is a great company led by a great man and you can't go wrong in picking them to help you when those traumatic, unfortunate events up-end your life.

We didn't even know what type of contractor to hire as we weren't sure if it was a foundational problem, our washing machine, etc. After numerous talks with contractors, we were told it was a good idea to hire a mold specialist and be sure that didn't become an issue. Working with SM NCR was amazing. Greg came out the day after I called. He did a very thorough mold test and even gave me some insight into where the water was coming from. Upon learning that the contractor couldn't start work for a couple of weeks, he gave us some ideas how to direct the water away from our home. A big hurricane was about to hit our area and he was afraid more water was going to dump into our basement. This type of advice wasn't Greg's job-but he was so kind to offer his thoughts as I had no idea what to do. We not only were able to temporarily direct the water away from our home (thanks to Greg), we did in fact have a mold issue. Greg had the team set up shop right away and begin the process. The team was incredibly kind, considerate and thorough. After a couple of days running the machines, Greg came back out to test the walls again. I will recommend SM NCR to all of my neighbors, friends and colleagues. This family run business is such a pleasure to work with and is by far the most qualified mold remediation company in the area.

They did not restore the basement to the pre-loss condition leaving an exposed fuse box and part of the floor torn up following abatement. They ghosted me about completing the work until they needed to get a certificate of satisfaction (what a joke) to be paid by Travelers. I had my own contractor do the work ServiceMaster NCR did not complete because I wanted to sell the rental. I had used ServiceMaster solely because Travelers had used them for the water abatement and I wanted to avoid any disputes as to coverage and reimbursement. Their project manager, Matt Kenney, failed to complete the rebuild and completely ignored me until it was time to get paid from Travelers. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS; he is incompetent and does a lousy job. They threatened to place a mechanics lien on the house while I was trying to sell if I didn't sign the certificate of satisfaction. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS; THEY ARE BAD NEWS. I agree with Chante B.'s and Kelly H.'s reviews of these guys. I would note that they have not had a good review since 2020 (with the exception of Joel B. whose review is extremely vague which makes me question if Joel B. works for or is affiliated with ServiceMaster; dropping shout outs to co-workers?).

We recently had water damage in our home when the washing machine decided to overflow and put a…read moresignificant amount of water on the laundry room and kitchen floors.  The water ran through into the basement damaging the ceiling and walls in our finished basement, as well as the carpeting on the floor.  We immediately called ServPro, who quickly came to our rescue, helping us move things out of the way to minimize damage and to begin the initial clean-up of the water. This was followed by one of their expert teams coming in and cleaning up the mess, removing the ruined kitchen and laundry room floors, as well as part of the basement ceiling and walls, and drying the entire place out. We could not have been more pleased with the workmanship and the professionalism of the team.  They were courteous and thoughtful and worked quickly, safely and took great care with our belongings.  They really appreciated what we were going through and were incredibly helpful throughout the process.  The office personnel, especially Tia, were so incredibly helpful as well, working to get estimates and paperwork together and even contacting our insurance company for us to make sure everything was taken care of. We are so grateful ServPro was there, we have no idea how we would have gotten through this without them.  Not only would I recommend them to others, I do routinely, as they are simply fantastic.

They were extremely courteous to my wife, my kids and me. Great guys. Would use that team any day for water restoration. That interaction was the shortest part of the job, hence the low rating. The restoration and office experience is an entire different story... Before I go into the bad, I will say everyone who entered my home was kind and respectful. Now the not so good: -Promises go unfulfilled. -told that we would finish in a week. It took almost 3 weeks -a team was supposed to show up on a daily basis by 8:30am. They showed up around 9:30/10:00am. Sometimes a few people, other times 1 person. One of the workers said he was taking vacation soon and the manager told us that person had to leave on a family emergency out of country. In my experience, emergencies are usually a "get up and go" type of instance vs something planned. -work was left unfinished and when I called the office they said "the walkthrough was completed" -We also took a railing down after a portion of the wall was painted (they still had to put on more coats of paint). They chose not to paint the area where the railing meets the wall. They said "oh, I thought you were putting this back up." We were told they would return to fix. Got a call that day asking to have it moved back until the following Tuesday... never showed, never called, nothing. I guess it was my fault since I went ahead and paid before it was fixed. - Attention to detail -many things were considered "done" and we had to point out holes that were not filled before painting, quarter round molding not nearly flush, holes in grout, etc. This would not have been fixed unless we pointed it out. For painting, these guys don't even tape. sloppy job on a number of corners. -Payment/Office interaction. - gave an upfront payment with a credit card. No issues, no fees - the day the job was finished, we were told if we wanted to pay with credit card again, we would have a 3.5% fee. No notification of this until the day of. Nothing written on payment terms in the contract, just a "by the way, this is happening now".. also, if they had finished on time, this would not have been a problem because this new policy was implemented after the fact. Talked to Steven about it who was very unprofessional. I told him about the delay being the issue and if they had finished on time, I would have still been able to pay. He even tried to blame me fore the delay. "Oh, you requested more work" (the promise of when they would finish occurred after the work was requested). Then he said they were waiting on the insurance adjuster to approve the additional work. Funny, the insurance adjuster called me asking where the update was from ServPro as she wanted to make sure this was taken care of quickly (I used servpro because they are a preferred vendor of the insurance I use so communication would be direct. He also said "we were waiting on your sliding glass to be delivered" (something they forgot to remove on their template contract from another customer...we had no sliding glass being done). Garrison at least had apathy, was apologetic and said they are working on how to inform people properly. Might not seem like a big deal but I don't like providing my bank account number. It's much more of a pain to fix than a credit card if it is used inappropriately. I told them I would take my time paying and Steven gave me more grief. I said how do they expect me to pay with a check if the insurance company has not even paid me. Turns out they didn't even tell the insurance company they had finished so the funds could be released! Just adding in, seems like I got a response sayiNg I should call about questions I have. I actually voiced all that was wrong. Kind of funny I keep finding more that is wrong. For instance, in the middle of a kitchen tile there is a piece of plastic or glue sticking out of the grout and spots that weren't even painted. Kind of funny that a walk through the house with my pregnant wife who just wanted the job done is a "final sign off" that the work is completed.

The quality of their work was top-notch, but more importantly, the communication and reliability of the project manager and the work crews was exceptional. DPS provided the highest quality overall work with the best communication I have ever experienced. The project manager assigned to our job, Daniel Tepe, was extremely professional and is an excellent communicator. He has a remarkable ability to articulate the repairs needed and explain options to the customer, while also keeping work on track. We were pleased with the professionalism, timeliness, hard work, and skill of the various crews. In addition, work that was subcontracted to Alexandria Carpet One and BK Electric was also well-done, timely, and top quality. I came away from this multi-stage repair highly-pleased with the process and the results.
