I love this place! I usually just get their brewed coffee, but have tried their Dutch coffee as well. Both great! Their food is delicious too! I've had their cran orange scone, omega cookie, banana nut muffin, bear claw, and greeNoodle salad, and I've never been disappointed :) The staff is friendly and the ambience is pretty chill. Even though it's right across from Chabot College, it never gets so busy that I've had trouble finding a place to sit. Cute little cafe across from Chabot College, along the very busy Hesperian Boulevard. They've been adorning this corner for as long as I can remember! I've only gone here once to study and take a break from being up the hill at CSUEB during those days. Their food and beverage menu is quite extensive, and even has combos to snag up a deal, saving you a buck or two! All their specialty coffees (i.e. lattes, mochas) and even smoothies are hella good, you'd think you're at an upscale cafe in a downtown urban environment. This establishment is pristine clean, and quiet (most of the time!) In addition, they offer hot food as well, including ramen. Yes, I said it. RAMEN. Definitely surprising for those checking this place out for the first time, but don't let that deter you from coming and trying this place out! A cafe strangely named after Germany's national electric utility. It has the standard modern coffee house ambiance though furniture is a bit frayed. Where they shine though is their coffee beans which make for a highly aromatic coffee. Although pricier than Peets, the flavor seems worth the money even considering generally poor foam work by the baristas. Mysteriously, there is a lot of propaganda throughout the cafe shilling the benefits of mulberry. Yes, the stuff silkworms chew to make silk! When I needed a place to work on a Sunday afternoon I turned to yelp to help me out (hard to find a non-chain coffee shop sometimes). Eon Coffee was close so I packed my laptop and headed out. I had passed this coffee shop a few times but did not have a reason to stop. The store was inviting with lots of windows and umbrellaed tables in the front. Upon entering I was asked what I would like and if it was for here to to go. Believe it or not, I was actually given a real, cup and saucer for my cappuccino and not some cup with a plastic top. Oh, there was even a cute design on the top and a cookie with my drink, nice touch. To the right of the counter is a lounge area with a couple of tables, a fireplace and a couch. It's a bit dark and very comfy and cozy. To the left of the counter is a bright and airy "work" area. There are many tables from small two seater to larger four seater and a booth covers the back wall. I sat with my drink at one of the tables, took out my laptop (just to fit in with the other 4 people there) and set to work. I drank my coffee, worked and sat in the wonderful sunshine while the sounds of the coffee shop rustled around me. Ahhh....reminded me of .... well ... that is a story for another day. After about an hour I had finished up what I needed to do. Yes, that doesn't seem long but it would have taken me 3x as long at home with the cats on the lap and the dogs begging for attention. I packed up and went about my day. The coffee shop was clean and the service was professional and efficient and my capp was really good. Thanks yelp for directing me to Eon Coffee. Yoshi is always smiling...I don't know how he does it working those long hours. Very friendly staff, too. What a cool place. Can get packed with Chabot students during exam time but otherwise very comfortable. I've gotten consistently very good mochas here. They used to use beans from Barefoot roasters but now roast their own and quality seems to be just as good. Decent selection of lunch items (including sushi) as well as bagels and pastries. Nice to see an emphasis on healthy eating. I like their organic mulberry iced tea, which is supposed to help prevent sugars from entering the blood stream to a certain extent. They had problems with their wi-fi before but Yoshi was very serious to get them resolved. Seems to be really consistent these days. Many tables with plugs; there are outlets on the ceiling that would make more tables laptop-friendly if they were accessible. Saw one guy plugged into one of those today...how the heck he get up there?!? They play satellite radio (it seems like) here through decent speakers and switch it up every now and then. It was kinda ironic though b/c on a couple occasions, they'd be playing "the Starbucks Radio Network". I like grabbing a nonfat mocha and sitting outside on a Sunday morning with the paper or a good book. So, let me tell you a background story. I first saw this place on Bay Area TV in 2008, it won the best Coffee shop in the bay area. After that, I told my boy GH and he's been coming ever since. Thanks to CL, I have finally stepped foot into this haven. This nice server, Youngsoon, introduced me to the menu. Great customer service, but 5 stars, is for the product, like I always do. I was tempted to be frugal and go for the double expresso shot, but I decided to risk it and try what YS had to offer. In the midst, I was distracted by a sales call, and that morning rift too. However after a sip of this creme de caramel; my short memories have dissipated. Another sip, and I walked back and told them, this is really really good. The coffee, let me explain, the best since Paris I must say. Perfect blend of caramel, coffee, and creme. The texture is smooth enough but not too whippy. The caramel is strong, and yet you ask, well does it over power the coffee? No, I can still taste the coffee. Amazing. 5 stars for sure. I'd drive here again. These are serious coffee people. Right when you walk in, you see these two huge, custom-made coffee brewing contraptions with a little placard that explains what exactly they do. Maybe I should have given these a try and my experience would have been different, but the night before I had a beautifully made, super-smooth espresso with thick, rich crema, and I was craving it again. So I ordered Eon's espresso and asked about the beans. The barista knew where they were from and how they were roasted. I had high hopes. When the espresso came out, however, that all quickly fizzled away, just like the remnants of some paper-thin layer of crema. The coffee itself tasted a bit burnt and bitter. I wasn't impressed at all. Perhaps it was an off day since everyone else seems to love their espresso here on Yelp, but I have to be honest about my experience here. Came here to study with my good friend yesterday. Really really cute place! I love how they don't over charge you on food, very reasonably priced I must say. Plugs line the wall. However it is dimly lit, leading to drowsy studying. They have all these new top secret ingredients that have endured lots of research from Japan that is supposed to help you lose weight, fix all your ailments and is the ultimate miracle cure. Ummm...very funny. As a biology major I can say that the digestive tract does NOT look like that nor is that how sugar is really digested or blocked. My friend and I had a good nerdy chuckle at the pamphlet. My other favorite local coffeehouse besides Zocalo. I've tried a number of their hot espresso drinks and am a big fan of their Cappuccino variations (esp. the Vietnamese cap) and lattes. I'd also recommend the Black Forest Mocha as it's really smooth and provides a nice, subtle flavor beyond the chocolate. This cafe is super awesome. Small, but definitely cozy. It makes you feel like this is your home away from home. How much like home? Enough to the point where if you order your coffee for there, they give you a mug for your drink. I think this cafe is eons ahead of most other cafes and coffee houses in terms of being enviro-friendly. When I was there, there were two guys who liked to discuss their incorrect medical knowledge with anyone who was willing to listen. Came in a hot Tuesday afternoon. My sister said that eon's chocolate smoothie was the bomb so I ordered a large chocolate dream smoothie, cost $4.95. Service was quick since it was not too busy. The smoothie was nice in that it was not too sweet, with bits of chocolate. Not sure what type of chocolate they used but it does not taste like the cheap stale ones. Saw their ad on the weekend ramens they have, I did not know that even the ramen noodle was made from scratch so that makes me want to try it. Maybe next time on a weekend? read more

Not too big on cafes, but this one stands out. It has a nice atmosphere where you can just go get a drink and chill. No matter if your studying or just passing by or even just need a java fix. What I thought was a neighborhood favorite is lacking in quality these days. $1 coffee refills, limited tables with access to wall plugs, and half of the cafe in a non sunshine lit area that resembles dark, cold and claustrophobic section from Bilbo Baggins living room, I certainly didn't get the warm and fuzzies when I decided to spend some time here this morning. Sometimes it gets awkwardly quiet, but that's ok because it's a lot better when it gets obnoxiously loud. Would be a 4.5 star place, if it wasn't for the most annoying WiFi services (ever)! So great place if you don't need need the use of internet. They have this annoying add banner that covers the bottom section of your browser on every single web tab/page. It doesn't go away. Also, if you turn off your wifi connection, it still pops up. It won't have the ad, but the banner continues to annoy the sh** out of you. Starbucks is okay. Pete's is better. However, EON coffee is even better yet. EON's iced Dutch coffee is by far the best coffee I've ever tasted. Wait a minute, how could a cold processed coffee be as rich, dark, aromatic, and flavorful as a coffee processed with hot water. Well, I have no idea (since I am not a coffee expert). The experts claim that cold processed coffee has 50 to 67 percent less acid. Due to the low acid level, this is the only coffee that I can drink without milk or half & half. Finally a place in Hayward where you can get "non-corporate" coffee and some pastries. They have a pretty cool atmosphere inside, very modern and artistic. The prices for the drinks were a little on the steep side and when I went, the pastries inside seemed to be first come, first serve stock. I'm happy that a place like this finally opened up across Chabot and suprised no other had been around before. read more

When I had empty blocks between classes, I would come here to study. Although, its noisy, I found the place to be ideal for studying. I enjoy the fact that the food they have to offer is fresh and good for you. Filled with omega vitamins, and offering different alternatives like their Pi water, or their Mulberry tea (that seems popular) and Mulberry cookies, and sandwiches with Krill in them. They have booklets that inform you about these new items, and the benefits you reap from ingesting said items. The place is cosy, and very comfortable. The fact that they remember recurring customers is a plus, and I also like that they use real coffee mugs when they know that you're going to be hanging around--makes you feel at home. They have these special holiday flavors. My all-time favorite is the "White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Latte". Its a mouthful to say, but anything with White Chocolate in it I'm there to try it. LOL. Oh and their "strawberries and cream" smoothie thing is really damn good. I prefer theirs over Starbucks, only because its a lot sweeter :) And their Turkey Avocado sandwiches are my absolute fave, very fresh ingredients. i LOVE this place!!! read more

Favorite local coffee spot! This place is right across Chabot College, and my first time here was about 5 years ago when I was taking a summer class there. I've been coming back ever since, for their unique offerings on the menu, such as their mulberry tea and iced Dutch coffee. It's a great place to just sit down and catch up on a book or study, as there has been a table available indoors or outside every time I visit. For those looking for a meal, I highly recommend the turkey avocado sandwich or omega3 tuna panini, but honestly I've never had a disappointing menu item here before! Prices are reasonable as well. To my pleasant surprise, the medium latte I got was just perfect: the cup was properly full and the latte was lightly sweetened. This is one cafe that I will never forget. Semi-pricey, plenty of places to sit down after 7pm on a Saturday night. Free wireless, found an outlet for the laptop easily. Me & my sweets sat in a corner, not far from a man who was checking everyone out and muttering profanities to himself. Clean bathroom, and community bulletin board available. Spotlight on loud-talking group of men, that annoyed muttering dude so much to the point that he became quite upset and snarled at the men who then looked at him....then proceeded to talking loudly again. Muttering dude went right back to muttering and swearing, while me and my sweets worked on business-related things. Other folks went in and out of Eon. In the background, Christmas music played. Oh yeah, did I already mention the loud-talking men and muttering/swearing dude? Well everybody went about their business until we all got our butts kicked out at 9PM. Then everyone parted, except the loud men who decided to stand in a circle outside in the cold talking loudly. But really, I had no problem doing my business at Eon cafe.
